  1. In this day and age, I can't imagine what secrets either one of them have that would be all that shocking? Twenty/thirty years ago, things that were shocking and could ruin lives and careers were numerous, but these days, beating someone, sexually assaulting someone, making a sex tape, doing drugs or generally being a POS doesn't seem to make a dent in some people's careers and lives, and in some cases makes them more famous. The writers will have to come up with something really unique to shock me and think it was a secret worth keeping.
  2. Thanks for the clarification. Not sure why I thought he was her coach. I fault both of them for the affair and wouldn't comment (only silently judge), if she wasn't appearing on a reality show.
  3. Thanks for all the info about Law and Order and all the characters from it. I watch two of the other three Chicagos. I stopped watching Chicago Fire very early on and haven't gone back except for the crossover episodes. I do watch Chicago Med as well as P.D., so that does help a bit with knowing who the characters are etc. when they do crossover. I watched this live last night and have to say it took me a bit to figure out it was going to be continuous. I did like that part of it. It was approximately 10 after the top of the second hour when I realize the time and wondered what was going on. I expected it when it came to the third hour.
  4. I remember watching her when I was a child so I'll agree this date is off by a few years. I think she'll never see 70 again, but she seems to still have lots of energy. We'll see if her energy stays constant or if she'll tire easily. I wonder if they'll ever show her playing her guitar or if they'll have her on playing a song after she's eliminated for another dance couple?
  5. I've only ever watched the crossover Law and Orders for the Chicago shows, so didn't have any clue how many characters were the same or were connected. I'm okay with that, and having said that, I can't be the only one who gets annoyed with these crossover shows? I understand why tonight was done like this, but I don't need anymore of these this season. It was wonderful seeing Philip Winchester back on my tv. I miss him and Sullivan Stapleton's partnership/bromance so much from their Strike Back days. I wouldn't have a problem if Sully, but not his entire show, ever showed up on here. I'll keep watching.
  6. I honestly thought she was older so her DOB is a surprise to me. She is an amazing and very talented musician, so I'll echo hoping she brings some of that seriousness to the ballroom or else her act will get annoying very fast and will have to be muted or ff'd through.
  7. I did feel horrible for her when she was clubbed, but any sympathy I had for her ended when her affair with her coach came to light. She was also very rude and made some nasty comments during the her skating career. She strikes me as someone who has a bad attitude. Maybe life has mellowed her, but it won't be surprising if she's still the same person she was years ago.
  8. For the first time in years I've watched several dance teams have falls or very noticeable errors. Can't figure out if it's nerves or if they are getting more technical. Happened in the U.S. nationals and up here in Canada as well. As much as I want to dislike Scott and Tessa and am ticked they've returned, I have to say, they really have improved and I can't fault their scores. Makes me sad for Andrew and Kaitlyn, but it is something to watch when you have so many equally talented dance couples where it's anyone's game to win. Gone are the days when the Russian teams cleaned up in this category. Not sure who watched the Canadian nationals, but did anyone else laugh when Rod Black said (paraphrasing), the ladies are no longer in the land of splat?! I haven't watched our ladies in years for this very reason and actually watched some of their skating this weekend. Things are changing and we finally have some strong contenders. I watched a tiny bit of the U.S. nationals and I have to echo any comments that aren't thrilled with the commentating. Do they ever shut up? Information can be a good thing, but when a program has the potential to take your breath away, it's nice to have silence while watching. As I don't watch much coverage on the U.S. channels, I have to wonder if they ever let the viewers have a chance to just enjoy and absorb a program? So far anytime I've tuned in, this hasn't been the case and it's very annoying.
  9. Deleted post. Figured it out.
  10. With few exceptions, isn't this true in all sports? Swimmers have better, slicker suits to swim in, runners have different outfits and runners ... the changes in sport over the years never ends. Should there be a qualifier on each world record? This sounds like sour grapes to me. Unlike pairs' routines, dance is very subjective as well. You can never compare apples to apples in dance, unlike pairs where elements are a huge part of the equation and the artistic side comes into play, but not like it does in dance.
  11. For the first time in a very long time, I have to say the number of talented dance pairs is astounding. I do have my favourite team - Andrew Poje and Kaitlyn Weaver, but am appreciating the talent and skill many of the other couples are bringing to the table. In this case I like the new scoring system as it really is almost anyone's game to win. I remember when it was a foregone conclusion on who would medal and rarely was it a surprise for what colour the medals were that were won. I do laugh every time I watch Tessa and Scott being interviewed and how diplomatically they are presenting themselves. Not sure how long that will last, but it is funny to watch. Shame on CBC for not showing any of the pairs' routine this past weekend. I'm not sure how or why that happened, but they need to make sure any guide doesn't say they will as they've been wasting good PVR space for skaters I don't want to watch!
  12. Well that was disappointing. First and last time watching this kind of show. I'm still in shock, although plenty of people said this would happen. Good luck to Jasmine with dealing with Kevin, his issues which sound like they are still happening and of course his horrible mother. If anyone watched the after show, Jasmine didn't look too happy when Kevin's mother was introduced and Jasmine's mother didn't look impressed as the credits were rolling by. I hope Mikhel goes on to find happiness and true love before Jasmine and Kev break up, so she won't have a chance to be with a really good guy. I understand the track record for things working out on this show isn't very high and given how this turned out, that's not a surprise.
  13. I also noticed the difference in attitude towards their partners' injuries. James seems really concerned about Sharna and wants her to do what's best for her health. On the other hand Jana is concerned with dancing with someone else and doesn't say anything about Gleb taking care of his injuries to make sure he doesn't do permanent damage. Is it just me or is Gleb's accent getting thicker? It's possible he's tired and that could be a contributing factor.
  14. Late on this, but last night I found the recording of Skate America on my PVR and finally watched it. I think if Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprès can skate a clean program, they have a real shot at some medals. Their routine is, for lack of a better phrase, really cool. At least it is to me. I was thrilled for our Canadian pair, but was disappointed for Vanessa and Morgan. Tried to watch the rest of the singles' long programs from Skate Canada and it's proven to me once again why I don't watch them and won't bother to for the rest of the season unless I hear of something remarkable happening. Both the men and women's competition have turned into a jumping contest with very little artistry and quite frankly I find them boring to watch. Maybe I'm too old, but give me a great routine like Toller, Kurt, the two Brians and even Elvis used to give us and I'd watch that any day. I also enjoyed watching Phillippe Candeloro. These men had skills and personality. Not finding that in today's skaters or maybe I haven't been watching the right ones.
  15. Looks like Mouse is also on Empire and I don't think it's a spoiler to say on the Chicago PD fb site there's a link for a deleted scene where everyone is in a bar saying good-bye to Mouse. Good luck in the music business. As they didn't kill him off, here's hoping he may return at some time.
  16. I think this is the link for the interview. I'm at work with no sound, but the video looks like it's the right one. I finally watched all the short programs in all the disciplines for Skate Canada and am not impressed with the singles at all. The spins aren't anything special and I'm tired of seeing everyone do a Biellman spin. It used to be a unique thing but now it's overused by both the women and men. Spinning used to be an art form, but it's now looking like it's something thrown in to fill up time. Looks like much hasn't improved either for artistry or not making things a jumping competition for the men at least. I've totally forgotten what any of the women did. Master the basic jumps first and then move on to the quads. I'm really disappointed that so many of the men had issues with a triple axel.
  17. I really enjoyed Val and Laurie's dance. He may come across as "old school" but maybe that's due to Laurie's age and that helps make some of these dances age appropriate vs creepy older guy with a young underage girl? We know in ballroom that kids of all ages dance all the dances so it's not a case of someone younger never dancing a particular dance. I personally like more traditional. The waltz wasn't full traditional, but it had the feel of more traditional vs all the mucking about and weird steps some of the dances have. YMMV. Poor Marilu. I feel terrible for her. The dance was well choreographed but she seemed so stiff and nervous that it made watching it very uncomfortable. At times Derek seemed to be putting her into the position/place he needed her to be instead of her participating in the dance. Almost as if she was a mannequin. Derek really does have that passive/aggressive thing down, and it's not pleasant for anyone to deal with someone like that, let alone having to deal with it on national television.
  18. While I had a problem with evidence being flushed, I didn't have an issue with it going down a sewer. It will travel all over the city making it harder to find the kid. Didn't one of the NCIS shows put cell phones in poly bags and send them down a sewer to confuse the bad guys? Same principle here I think.
  19. You're not the only person wondering this. I hope he changes his mind or you know something awful will happen to him. I like this character and am hoping for the best, but who knows?
  20. I've been watching the singles for the first time in years and can't say I'm impressed. I watch the pairs and dance, but rarely watch the singles, so need to ask when did spins turn so ugly? I stopped watching single skaters years ago when it turned into a jumping competition. Now it seems the competition is for the ugliest spin? Lots of flapping of arms and no real effort in joining movements. Will the men change my mind or should I skip that too? I have all the coverage from TSN and CTV on my PVR, but would like to ff or clear up space unless someone can tell me to look out for someone exceptional in singles.
  21. My brain wasn't fully engaged last night when I watched the interview, so the words I was really looking for were "damage control". Just caught a tiny bit of the rerun of the interview and Scott did talk about being arrogant, but he said it was when he was 16 years old - ha! I think that arrogance stayed for several years. It's definitely going to be interesting to watch them as they compete against some of the other dance couples. Some of those couples have had some great routines over the years and hopefully will continue to bring great routines. I always enjoy Piper and Paul's routines and don't think they get enough credit for what they do.
  22. Just watched an interview that Rod Black did with Scott and Tessa. Can you say diplomatic? Wow - Scott was really trying to make the past sound like it was an anomaly and that they've learned from it. Wonder how long it will take for them to complain or turn into jerks to Andrew and Kaitlyn? I like watching them skate in skating shows, but am not impressed they are back in competitions. No spoilers but will share I do like this "pick your skating order" stuff. It shakes things up a bit and makes viewing more exciting. Of course I'm watching coverage on TSN, so they have all the skaters unlike the networks that just have highlights. In those cases, this shake up of skating order doesn't matter.
  23. I just realized I didn't include networks in my post about the Canadian stations and can't seem to edit it. So sorry. Friday TSN4, TSN5 and TSN3 will have the coverage from 15:00-18:00 TSN2 will take over at 19:00-23:00 CTV will have coverage for the first two time slots on Saturday and TSN2 will have Saturday night coverage. At least that's how it's being advertised right now.
  24. I think Captain Canada has issues. When he pulled that shit with Jasmine a couple of episodes ago that should have spelled the end for him. Flags flying and bells ringing. I can't believe he's still in the running. I think that the Kevin who left almost looked relieved after having his conversation with Jasmine. He looked ready to go. I agree that Mike and Mikhel will be the last two, at least I hope they are. As for the host, just call him the guy from The Good Witch.
