Love Cersten and Erica! They were teammates on the dance team at LSU, right?
-
When is the last time that the point girl was not a group leader? Seems like the two go hand in hand somewhat, and I don't see Holly being a group leader yet, though I do think she'll be a second. I still think Jenna is the most obvious point girl. Not because of seniority but because of her position in the triangle last year. In some ways, it seems to be more of given than Jenn being point girl was this past year, but perhaps there is some behind the scenes turmoil. In that case, Erica wouldn't surprise me as point. I would much prefer her over Holly, whose time will come I'm sure. ETA: was Crystal a group leader when she was point? I honestly can't remember.

Yeah, I thought about that. I guess they're gonna have to put Kashara up there. Unless im forgetting someone, she seems to be most senior blonde (and a good dancer) who is returning.
-
This may be an unpopular opinion, but why is it a negative if she's is coming back because she wants Pro Bowl or VOTY? As long as she's going to put in the same work as everyone else, dance well, show up for her appearances, and isn't being a toxic force on team, why do her motivations really matter? I feel the same way about some of the complaints about Tasha and Holly P (though we don't seem to hear those about Holly as much anymore). If they see DCC as some sort of a springboard for fame, well, I question how successful they will be, but as long as they continue to do their job well, so what. Again, if they're being toxic, that's a different story, but that doesn't seem to the case.

I think it depends on what the cut is for. If a senior vet shows up and just has a terrible tryout for no apparent reason or has suddenly gained weight, then I think its fine to cut them. However, if its an ongoing weight or performance issue or an issue with a rule being broken that is unrelated to performance (like is speculated with Jenna), then I think they should tell the vet ahead of time and strongly encourage retirement if its that big of a deal. I don't think its so much an issue of having fewer girls tryout, but I do think it could affect morale of the team.

Agreed on both points. In some past years, it was obvious who was on the bubble but not so much this year. For example, I don't think anyone was surprised that Breelan and Ashley Pro didn't make it back, or that Kat and Caila, due to the obvious weight gain, were cut. Kelsey is really the only one who seemed to make it by the skin of her teeth, but she kind of strikes me as someone who can make a good impression on the judges at tryouts when memory issues aren't as apparent (this is assuming that she won't screw up the interview again). As for Simone, unless she just has an awful tryout (like Jasmine did her 4th year) or gains weight, I don't see her being cut. If they were going to cut her for a lack of power, I think last year would've been the time to do it.

I would think she probably does believe that she will be point girl, and it's not really an unreasonable belief. She's the most obvious person to be it, given where she was in the triangle last year, and she certainly has the dance ability. I hope they rotate point again next season. I would be perfectly happy with Erica and Jenna rotating at point, and I hope Lacey rounds out the triangle.

Of the current DCCs, Erica seems to be universally liked. At least I think lol

I don't speak for anyone else, but I don't think there's anything offensive about someone thinking that Yuko being a Japanese national or Jasmine being African-American helped them make the team. We all know they Kelli likes to have a mix of looks on the team. She has publicly stated that. I would disagree in Jasmine's case because when she made it, they would have had an extremely diverse class, including other black or biracial girls, without her. Still though, she was a mediocre dancer, so Im sure there are many reasons as to why she made it. I do however find the notion that the mediocre minority women have some sort an advantage, which was stated a couple of pages back, to not be supported by the facts. Jasmine and Yuko are 2 girls, but the vast majority of the bubble girls/mediocre dancers who have made the team over the years were not women of color, but were white. K&J have shown no hesitation in getting rid of minority women when they felt they didn't make the cut for whatever reason (I think they would've kept Alexandra if they cared that much). So sure, they like diversity, but I've seen nothing to suggest that the blondes are at a disadvantage.
-
I don't know. I think Jasmine's rookie year DCC squad, and TCC class, is the most racially diverse one that the DCC has had since the show started (and IMO, one of the best squads that they've had). I don't think they were straining for diversity that season. I do think the "Danielle and Jasmine are bffs, who quit the NY Jets, and moved all the way to Dallas together" story helped.

In that video with Yuko, Stephanie, and Kelsey, Yuko looks like a little girl who tagged along with her big sisters to the studio and is trying (unsuccessfully) to imitate their dance moves. Like, it's bad. I'm hoping that she just didn't have the choreography down yet because if she knew the dance, and that's the best she can do...eeek!
-
Wow, really? I didn't realize that. How old is she?
-
I don't think there is anything they could do to make her stay, but I assume that by this point, she should have a pretty good idea as to whether she has improved her standing enough or if she needs more time. I don't know if it was an MCAT issue or if she's trying to do a postbac program or something else to better her application. I'm assuming though that she could find out about an acceptance into med school fairly late in the summer if she ended up being waitlisted somewhere and then got in (someone more familiar with med school could shed more light on this, I'm sure).

Ok, so Claire was the one missing (I remember Robin had been thought to have been one of those leaving). Not sure how the number of retiring vets compares to past years, but all of these DCCs are great dancers. Other than Danielle who is a group leader, all of the others were on show team right? I guess group leaders will be Jenna, Jinelle, Erica, and Lacey. Any guesses as to seconds: Kashara, Bess, Holly P, Robin?

Hollly was just bland to me. Nothing against her, she's pretty, seemed like a nice person, and could dance, but she never stood out for me. If they wanted a pretty blonde as point, I wouldn't went with Kinzie. -

I agree that Mia is one of the prettier DCCs, and that her ascent was somewhat surprising. Didn't Jackie Bob also struggle during training camp? Ashton is the only other rookie that I remember from that season. -
That also may explain why Caila was tearing up in interviews even before tryouts (when the vets were learning the finals dance). She must've known that she wasn't at her best and was at real risk of being cut. I'm sure lots of us have had that feeling at some point or another, whether at work or in school, where you just run out of time (due to no ones fault but your own) to get everything in order/be prepared, and you just know that the upcoming test/review/whatever is not going to go well. It's an awful feeling.

Thanks for posting this, and I agree that Erica doesn't really stand out here. Bess is the one who my eyes keep going to in this video. -
I would definitely say that Chelsea was cut for being toxic. She didn't look overweight at all. Teri is another one who didn't have the weight or dance reason for her cut, as the official reason for her cut was the interview, I think.
-
They probably would do a segment on her during the Finals episode. That will be a dead giveaway. Really though, unless Tasha and Selina are just the most toxic people OR have pissed off K&J (and they remain pissed at tryouts), I wouldn't be surprise see both making it back. The team is already losing several of their strongest dancers, and neither Tasha or Selina have dance issues from what we've seen. At the end of the day, its a dance team. I'm sure many coaches/directors will take the self-centered, bubblegum-pink lipstick chick who they know can dance and remember choreography over someone who can't, no matter how nice she is. IIRC, I think Lauren(?) was cut in season 5 for attitude reasons, but has any other vet been cut for reasons other than dance or weight?

What was the girls name from North Carolina last year, who Kelly thought had an underbite? I liked her. I wonder if she will try out again

I think the weight gain on both was quite visible, although Veronica just looked bigger than before, whereas Hannah looked kind of flabby/soft (in DCC world, not normal ppl world lol). I think, without rewatching, that they both gained around 10 pounds. So I do think Hannah looked a bit worse, but I also think Kelly just liked Veronica better than Hannah. -

Yeah, I also agree that it was editing at that particular instance. However, there's no question that Kelli showed a higher level of annoyance with Hannah for weight gain than she did with other vets. When Veronica and Hannah had to do a uniform check in the episode where Hannah got cut, Kelli was a MUCH nicer to Veronica. It was like night and day. With Veronica, she offering her my fit foods, whereas with Hannah, she mentioned how Hannah had weight warnings throughout the year, and maybe a couple of other snide comments. I can see why a four-year vet outgrowing her uniform would be more annoying than a 2-year vet who had warnings throughout the year, but there just seemed to be more to the story with Hannah than what was let on. -
I think Sage is very pretty and based on this pic, has a look that K&J would like. Can she dance?
-
LOL! Yeah, I would guess that Tasha was in her low 30s or so. She definitely doesn't look like she's a few years removed from college, but she doesn't look 40 either.
