  1. I would imagine that if anything has dropped from the requirements, it's the "full-time" part of it. I actually think it would be very doable to be a full-time undergrad student and a DCC, outside of certain types of programs. However, grad school or a full-time job is a different matter.
  2. I think Gina just needs real help in the communications area. If you want to come off well, then you need to be able to talk yourself up without putting other people down. That's basic IMO. She may not have intended to do so (I'm sure she didn't), but she implied that everyone else's training was inferior. It was unnecessary to make her point and actually detracted from it IMO. Same with her comment about Judy's critique. Tasha made a similar comment last year during training camp about thinking that she was hitting it hard but then being told that she was dancing too soft. Tasha managed to make the same point as Gina and not sound entitled. It's not a big deal, and Gina obviously made the team, but I think she comes off really poorly.
  3. I totally forgot about that until you mentioned it, but it was Emma in the triangle with Jackie and Mia. I had just assumed it was Holly in the triangle, since she was point the next year.
  4. Absolutely not, at least not in my opinion. I was just responding to the question of whether Kashara is the best blonde on the team. I agree that the triangle you mention would be fine. I always forget about Jinelle, but she's a good dancer. I probably would put Kashara above her, but not by that much. I do think Kelli has a thing for blondes though. I expect Maggie to be at point eventually if she sticks around, even though I'm completely underwhelmed by the dancing clips that I've seen of her.
  5. I still would like to see them rotate point some this year, but I don't think it will happen. For better or worse, I think formation as it is now is what it will be lol.
  6. Yeah, if a third year was clearly the strongest dancer/performer on the team, I would have no issue with them being point. I don't think Kashara fits that description, but I do think she is the best blonde on the team, and there's no question that she's a charismatic performer. I have no problem believing that she is a fan favorite. I would also probably give her top 5, though that is due to the departures of Holly/Erica. If both were still on the team, I would probably say Lacey/Jenna/Cersten/Holly/Erica were top 5. Honestly, Lacey is really the only other one with a really strong argument for point at the moment IMO. I'm not sure why she was passed over, but many think she's too lyrical and lacks pop. I don't that, but I've read that about her many times on here, and maybe Kelli thinks similarly. We know why Jenna isn't point - disciplinary issues (she was at point before the drama, so it's clearly due to that). I would still put Jenna at point, but Kelli obviously cares about leadership and dependability when it comes to point, and Jenna burned that bridge. Kashara stepped up when she was asked to, and seems to be handling a lot of new responsibilities this year really well. So, I ain't mad at her lol. Now, if Amy T. had returned, I think she would probably be point right now, assuming everything else went down the same way.
  7. Yes. I really liked how she handled herself in the office and didn't make any excuses. Then, to know additionally that's she a kindergarten teacher (and it sound she's a permanent one, not just a sub), makes me have nothing but respect for her. My mom was an elementary school teacher, and if the requirements at Selina's school are similar to those at my mother's, I can only imagine how exhausted she must be during the fall.
  8. All 5 definitely look different. In fact, none of them look remotely like the other, but that was kind of the point I was trying to make, though I don't think I made it clearly. The show group issue with Keyra can be argued for sure (we obviously didn't see the whole tryout), but I was more just saying that I don't think that K&J are colorblind which IMO, to think that they wouldn't dare consider race in any decisions, you would have to believe that they would put all 5 bgs together in a group just like the 5 blondes are in group 2, who also all have different looks. I don't believe that they would do that, and I am curious if anyone thinks otherwise. To be clear, I'm not criticizing K&J. I don't think theyre racists, and I don't think noticing race makes one a racist. It is what it is, but I don't believe that they take into account every aspect one's "look" except race. I find that unrealistic, but certainly all of us have different opinions, and that's fine.
  9. I probably need to go back and watch some of the older seasons, but if anything, I feel like there's been more emphasis on looks in recent seasons than in the past....primarily due to the massive big screen in the stadium. I also think it can be human nature to think more fondly of the past, but while I enjoyed many of the past squads more than this one, I don't at all think that they were all superior dancers to recent years. This year is weak overall, but there have been many excellent dancers and performers who have been on squads in recent years.
  10. Yeah, I actually found Brianna more likeable this episode. She always seemed sweet, but I saw a glimpse of some snark this episode, which I like. There's a clip of Milan doing a spin during the show group tryouts, so she "auditioned" I believe with every one else and just asked not to be considered, from what I gather.
  11. Does anyone think that K&J would put Jenna (GL), Robin (2GL), Cersten, Khalyn, and Keyra all in one group (I'm referring to the small groups not show group). I think there's not a chance in hell that it would happen, yet Group 2 has 5 blondes on it right now. I think hair color is a factor, and I'm sure height is as well, and any other factor that makes up one's looks, such as race. That doesn't mean anyone is racist, just that they're not colorblind.
  12. On re-watch, while I don't think Celinda should be on the team, I really feel for her. It looked like she had been crying before she went in the office, and she probably has the feeling that her days are numbered. Training camp is such a pressure cooker for these girls. Regarding Gina, I have no issue with her touting her dance wins and accolades. However, her talk about having better training than the other girls and this being one of the best training camp classes (since when?), is what really soured me on her. If you feel the need to make comparisons with other people to prop yourself up, at least make accurate comparisons.
  13. I can absolutely see that. Lacey has always been an excellent dancer, but up until this year, I always thought she was overshadowed by Melissa and Erica from her rookie class. Almost by default this year, she's been thrust to the front and I'm finally focusing on her. I wouldn't be shocked to see a similar exodus of strong dancers next year. I could see Kashara and Lacey sticking around, but I would he surprised if Jenna or Jinelle come back, and there seem to be a number of vets who may nearing their late 20s and will start to look at leaving for real careers. Hopefully, next year will be Khalyn's time to shine if she returns.
  14. That may well be the case regarding Khalyn. I feel like I just haven't seen much of Khalyn dancing, and I would love to see more clips of her. I have no doubt that she's probably at very least in the same range as Tasha and Stephanie who both made it. I just don't recall her ever being talked about on the board or on the show as one of "the best." That's certainly doesn't me she isn't though.
  15. All of this (except as I said in the episode thread, I'm not quite as convinced that Khalyn is a powerhouse dancer). No one appears to be saying that K&J are awful racists who have it out for the black girls. Clearly that's not the case, but I dont understand why we should discount that looks (which race is a part of) are a factor in the decision. Beyond the fact that they already had Jenna, Robyn, and Cersten, I think they probably wanted some more blondes on show group, and the only place to go to get a few more on show team was the rookie class.
  16. Keyra said during the episode that she wanted to be chosen for show group, so I don't see the school/work reason for her not making it. Khalyn....I don't know, but I've never thought Khalyn was one of the best dancers anyway, so her not making show group isn't as glaring up me. Not that she's weak, and I've never really seen much of her dancing at all honestly, but I wouldn't put her at level of Jenna/Cersten or Keyra who seems to be singled out by every guest as being a powerhouse.
  17. I also think that two slightly different issues are being confused. There's the issue of the Group Leader thing on the show and Erica generally being MIA, which leads some of us to think that her departure won't be addressed. Then, there is the real-life way that it has been dealt, with Erica apparently not being allowed to say why she was cut (they also apparently will not release her twitter account). She obviously has no issue telling people that she's injured since she did so a couple of days ago. When she didn't make show group, I think Kelly or Shelly or both said she was injured. But silence now. It just seems strange to me. If it was just an injury and nothing else, I would think they would write a nice twitter and instagram message or something, but who knows. It's already clear that she's not there so they wouldn't be giving anything away. Again, there may be logic behind all of this, so I'll just wait and see.
  18. While I agree with a lot of this post and the principle behind it, the bold is not true from a legal perspective. Prayer in the workplace can be discriminatory but it's not always. Discrimination laws and lawsuits are extremely fact-specific, so I just caution against blanket statements. I don't think it's a good thing for people to think they always have a legitimate lawsuit when in many cases, they do not and are headed toward dismissal or summary judgment.
  19. Were they expecting Selena to drop five pounds in a week? I may be getting my weeks mixed up, but it just seemed like very little time had passed between the last talk and this one. Keyra should have made show group. She's the best rookie there. Happy that Kashara and Stephanie made show group. I thought Kashara popped in the hip hop dance, as did Jenna. I just love her dancing. She's such a fun performer to me. On the other hand, I thought Maggie was unimpressive in the clips that I saw, which was surprising to me. I Glad to see Yuko get called out. She's a weak dancer. Savannah looks awkward. I don't know how she keeps avoiding the office. I like Brianna, but it was definitely her time to go. I honestly would be surprised to see her back. I think she is better suited for other types of dance. It's time for Celinda to go to. She seems nice, but she's just dull. Gina came off poorly tonight IMO. She just seems vapid and self-absorbed.
  20. Am I missing anyone or is Celinda is the only other cut before the Holly/Jenna stuff? I think Brennan and Taryn were cut after it happened.
  21. Honestly, I can't think of another reason beyond that regarding Keyra. It seemed like she clearly wanted to be on show group, so I don't think it was a scheduling issue. They are showing Holly A LOT. Clear that we're leading to whatever went down.
  22. To be perfectly honest, the only reason why I even question the injury story is that Erica seems to be salty over the situation, everyone involved is all hush-hush about her exit, and I think it was @LaurenBrook who had said that the real story would come out if the show didn't address it (leading me to believe that there's more to it). Now, I could be reading way too much into all of those things, or the issue could still be injury- related, but if not for those things, the injury story is believable to me. I have back pain from years of tumbling and dance (nothing severe), and doing a jump split several times a week makes me flinch, so I can only imagine how painful it would be to someone with a real back injury.
  23. So true! Obviously, I wish them well and hope she's happy, but yeah, that's sort of talk is coming fast lol. Honestly, the main reason why I don't like to constantly post about my personal life on social media is that for people who do, once they stop posting, it's a dead giveaway that something has happened. I found out about the divorce of some acquaintances that way. One day, the wife (who posted pics and statuses about the husband like every day), suddenly stopped. Of course, everyone was like, they must be having problems and sadly enough, they were.
  24. This, I totally agree with. Move past the petty and immature social media stuff and go write a book. I would definitely buy it!
  25. One way I could buy that Erica's cut is purely injury-related is if there was a confrontation about it when she got cut and it wasn't amicable. Maybe she was pissed and felt misled about being released after spending all summer with the team and being named a group leader. With the Holly/Jenna stuff likely airing on the show right before this went down, I could see why they would hide it and just pretend like it Erica was never there. Too much drama concerning popular and well-known cheerleaders at once is not a good look for K&J. I don't believe that they wouldn't show it due to comparisons to the Cassie situation. I really don't think they give a damn if ppl think Cassie got favorable treatment, and it seems like it would easy enough to distinguish the Cassie injury if they cared enough to address it.
