I just think she’s a poor manager in general. She’s passive aggressive and the type that makes everything personal. When someone has screwed up or made a mistake, she always make it into a character flaw. She’s catty. (see her interactions with Colby). She’s goes between treating DCC like a sorority in one respect and a job in another (an example is how she treats point and show group as if they’re the heights of prestige in the DCC org but has gotten upset on 2 occasions when she’s demoted people and they’ve sought clarity - guess what, in real jobs, people want clarity on their status. The “just be happy to be here” is sorority talk). Different girls are consistently held to different standards (see weight issues). She plays favorites. VK is just the most obvious example but certainly not the first. Now, I think she presents a good product to the public and is a fabulous marketer. It’s the managerial stuff that she’s terrible at. And FWIW, I’ve been saying this for years about her.

Beyond the fact that Madeline did not even give off the impression that she’s a social climber, the whole “stepping stone” comment was ridiculous since this is supposed to a so-called part time job. Last I checked, part-time jobs that can’t financially support an adult are supposed to be stepping stones. Kelli truly believes that DCC should be the highlight of every girl’s life. If Madeline wants to go on to dance on Broadway, good for her. Broadway is more prestigious than DCC whether Kelli likes it or not. Same with Jacie and the Rockettes.

This is up on the DCC Twitter page today, and they say “often imitated, never equaled” before Thunderstruck, as well as constantly talking about how you have to be one of the best to make it. FWIW, I’m not bothered by the DCCs or Lisa. I agree that it doesn’t meet the dictionary definition of humble, but it’s true, and in Lisa’s case, she didn’t put down anyone other than the counselor, who may have meant well, but wrongfully tried to tell her what she couldn’t do. She just advertised her abilities, which you have to be able to do in competitive, male dominated fields, like she’s in - especially as a young, petite woman. People can certainly go overboard into arrogance, and Lisa may be like that in person. Obviously, I don’t know her, but I got where she was coming from in the segment.
-
Well, not if she was white, with pretty eyes, brown hair, and named Meredith lol. She’s every bit as bad, and I think worse. I get the point tho. In terms of AA girls, they’re at a really low point, and Kat at least checks that box and is beautiful to boot.

All Past Seasons of the Late Lamented Show
Jess14 replied to ByTor's topic in Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team
I really liked Amy by the end. I understood why they cut her, but I liked her a lot. -
I think 2 things can be true at once: VK is improved this year and was top 36 in terms of dance and the show is trying very hard to push the narrative that she’s one of the best in the room and is SO much more mature than last year. I don’t really have an issue with her being on the team, but the “VK is so awesome and great” comments every episode are annoying. In fairness to her, she’s not the first girl who they’ve done this with. The show is not good at being subtle.
-
I’m not following. The post I quoted specifically referred to Jalyn performing poorly, which simply was not shown. There’s certainly plenty of things that could’ve happened. We didn’t see them. That’s all I’m saying. The “Jalyn just wasn’t noticed or performed poorly” angle is no less speculative than the “VK got her cut” story. People can believe can believe what they want, but I’m not giving the benefit of the doubt to people who have control in the editing room. I don’t base my opinions on how things turn out for my favorites. My bad feelings about this episode aren’t out of affection for Jalyn. If Rachel W, who I don’t like at all, had been cut and then treated like crap, I would have the same opinion.
-
I’ll agree to disagree. The “not standing out” seems to be based on Kelli’s comment, and I don’t find Kelli credible. And I also don’t think we know who noticed Jalyn. It’s highly unlikely that only 3 comments were made about her or any other girl during deliberations. And to be clear, I don’t care about VK. She’s nothing more than a footnote in this story IMO. If Kelli switched them out for petty reasons, that’s on Kelli 100%.
-
There is literally nothing to suggest that she performed poorly during SG auditions. Nothing. No one said that, and she was not shown struggling during the dance portions. The worst comment was Kelli (who clearly had other issues with Jalyn and should not be taken seriously - about anything IMO) saying that she didn’t write anything down on her. Now, if Jalyn performed badly and they just conveniently edited out all of the comments and all of the clips (clips that would supported Kelli’s viewpoint), then Kelli isn’t just a joke of a manager, but she’s a joke of an executive producer too.
-
Yeah, same. I blow past a lot of the VK rumors, and I never pay much attention to the “so and so is a mean girl” stuff - that could just be an opinion, but this....there’s something else there underlying Jalyn’s cut from show group. That much is clear. I don’t know if the VK stuff is true, but there’s definitely not any disciplinary violation on Jalyn’s part or else that would’ve been stated. The whole ‘Savannah wants it so bad but is still supportive” was clearly an effort to make Jalyn look bad, and they had Kelli calling her toxic and unprofessional in the episode. The fact that Jalyn didn’t come off looking bad isn’t for lack of effort. There was just no material. For reference, a friend who is a casual watcher (just watches for fun and isnt usually interested in behind the scenes stuff), texted me and was like “WTF! did I miss something? Why is Kelli being so mean? There’s gotta be a backstory!” It was obvious that something is amiss.
-
I think this is certainly true and true of the team as a whole and applies to Meredith and Kat as well. Most people who see the Cowboys are not going to care about them making the team. However, it’s certainly not how Kelli treats it. I don’t personally care one way or another about Jalyn. She’s fine but not one of my faves, but for me, I don’t think the issue is about her. It’s just another example of Kelli being terrible (which is nothing new). She builds up show group as being the best of the best and special ambassadors for the team, she hires a big venue for SG tryouts, she brings in a big group of guest judges, and then when she demotes a girl, she’s acts like the girl shouldn’t be upset. At the same time, she throws out her little petty digs and passive-aggressively refuses to answer when her employee asks perfectly reasonable questions upon being demoted - do you think less of my abilities this year; am I at particular risk; is there something other than my audition that caused me not to make SG. Kelli is just awful. The worst type of boss.
-
Seeing this nonsense with Jalyn, I’m even more interested to know what Gina may have said or did to get in the doghouse. Clearly, something happened. It’s pretty obvious that professionalism in Kelli’s world means to act how she wants you to act and nothing more. In most workplaces, quietly stepping aside for a few minutes to collect yourself when you’re upset and then returning and resuming your work without a commotion is considered professional. Listening to Kelli, you would think Jalyn threw down her poms and stomped out of the room. It’s ridiculous. She needs to retire.
-
Isn’t that something? IMO, Kelly pretty much always comes off terribly when dealing w a conflict with one of her cheerleaders - even though she exerts some control over the editing. If what is making it into the show is supposedly the best spin on her actions, then I’d hate to see what the real footage looks like.
-
Well, I 100% believe the insiders about the Jalyn/VK debacle after watching that. Kelli came off terribly IMO, and it’s clear that there was something else underlying Jalyn’s cut. What I thought was the worst though wasn’t the “toxic” or “unprofessional” talk, but the fact that Jalyn was all but pleading with K&J for more information about why she was cut from show group, and they refused to give her information (based on what was shown) and instead pivoted to the vague, “no one is safe” bs. If she got cut for dance reasons, she needs to know that. If she got cut for non-dance reasons (even if it was something petty as has been alleged), then own your pettiness, and tell her that. Instead, Kelli sat there and let her walk out of the room with no more info than she had when she came in. Ugh! That scene reminded me so much of the Jenna/point convo a few years back, which I also thought was a low point. If I were Jalyn, I would be looking at other options next year. I enjoyed Kashara. I didn’t know she did choreography. Now, I’m side-eyeing the “best of the best” type comments that they keep making about her. She was good, but puh-lease! However, I think she’s great in the type of capacity that she was in last night. Unlike other guests who seem to intimidate the girls, she brings a really positive energy into the room.

All Past Seasons of the Late Lamented Show
Jess14 replied to ByTor's topic in Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team
Ok thanks. I knew it was something like that - and then she like immediately posted pics of the football player (that made it clear that it wasn’t a new relationship) and had a football/cheer camp or something shortly thereafter from what i remember. So to answer the question earlier, I think quit so she could publicly be in a relationship with him. -

Did she finish out the year? She definitely finished football season, but for some reason, I thought she quit prior to the actual end date but can’t remember. -
I don’t think strippers and the DCCs are comparable at all. Someone can like going to strip clubs and still think the DCCs are classless and vice versa. The DCC uniforms are tiny, but they’re covered and not wearing less clothes than many people wear at the beach or the pool, and I don’t think most beachgoers consider themselves akin to strippers. By the same token, a strip club is a strip club. If you don’t like it, don’t go. With the DCCs, they dance at a football game. Probably 95% of the people there are there for the game. So, no, I don’t think there’s anytime hypocritical about enjoying strip clubs, but being upset by crotch shots and close ups of cheerleaders’s breasts being flashed across a big screen at a football game. All about the time and place.

All Past Seasons of the Late Lamented Show
Jess14 replied to ByTor's topic in Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making The Team
Sure, and I’m not disputing that. Though I think the whole, “being 5 minutes late is a cardinal sin” stuff is silly. They’re cheerleaders, not the Army. Now, some people are just always late and that’s different, but one once or twice...whatever. -
I would be interested to see what Kelli’s full response was. It seems like the article chopped all but one paragraph. I do wish the DCCs would just be honest about the fact that part of their reason for being their existence and for wearing tiny uniforms is that they want men to look at and desire them. They obviously believe that wearing tiny uniforms achieves that goal more than wearing the standard college/high school cheer uniform does. I mean, just own it. It is what it is. With that said, these articles are annoying IMO. The DCCs existence isn’t stopping any woman from becoming a doctor, lawyer, sideline reporter, congresswoman, or anything else. I’m all for constructive criticism but trying to get rid of them just seems like another way of trying to dictate what women should do. I may think it’s sad if someone has no goals other than being a DCC, but it’s not my life, my time, or my business. Do you. Just my opinion.

Keyra didn’t have the DCC body, but she was a good dancer - one of the few power dancers in that rookie class. As for the attitude stuff, I take that with a grain of salt. Actually having a personality is enough to get labeled as having an attitude in DCC land.- 6.8k replies

I feel bad for the girls who are having to walk out alone, but if that allows the rest of the team to leave at a decent time, that’s an appropriate trade off IMO. Someone like Brennan shouldn’t have to wait until 2 am to wait and see if someone (who she may or may not be close too), gets cut. She actually has a job that she has to wake up for in the morning.
-
Everything involving the prosecutors is comical at this point lol. Watching Power, you would think that federal prosecutors just drop dead every day. I mean, we’re up to 4 (?) now, all murdered, from the same team (in New York of all places), and they expect us to believe that this wouldn’t be a massive public scandal? That Tameka would be the only fired, and that Saxe would still be bumbling around? Cmon.
-
Oh, I think it was definitely retaliatory, but ultimately, if they had underpaid her (and I don't know that they did - the fact that they apparently settled doesn't mean guilt), then there's a legal problem whether she's bitter or not. If anything, you better have paid someone according to law if you cut them. That's generally when people are in the mood to sue. I agree with everyone about the Rowdy allegations, which seemed to be more about publicity - talking about the mascot's versus cheerleaders's pay is more headline grabbing than talking about overtime/minimum wage issues. Ultimately though, I'm glad they're getting paid more.
-
Idk. I definitely think they should be paid more for the hours that they put in, but making it a "real" part-time job seems more realistic than paying them all $75k, IMO. There's no need to be having them there until 2 a.m., or to refuse to work around school schedules (as Milan indicated). Other than group leaders, I don't really see the need for 36 full-time cheerleaders, when they could simply show more respect for their time, so they could maintain full-time jobs more easily. Now, could the Cowboys afford it? Sure, but as much as I respect their dance ability and value, the football team is still the draw. Certainly, the gameday experience (and my tv viewing experience lol) wouldn't be the same without the DCCs (other NFL teams, I don't think the cheerleaders are noticed as much), but they're not pro ballet dancers or broadway performers, who are required for a production of Swan Lake or the Lion King; they're not nurses, who the hospital could not function without, they're not teachers, who the school couldn't go on without; they're not prosecutors or public defenders, who you could not have a justice system without, etc. Basically, the game could go on without them.

Yep. It was beyond ridiculous. And of course, public restrooms aren't that private that the officer couldn't have seen Keisha sitting through the cracks. And we're supposed to believe that not even her lawyer would've have gone with her in the restroom with her or even one or two of male bailiffs (someone could've held the door open if that was a concern)? I mean, this is a case where multiple federal agents were just killed trying to protect the witness, and the officers just left the defendant (not handcuffed or anything) in the bathroom alone? GMAFB! Not to mention, do Keisha, Tommy and the crew, and Ghost think there are no surveillance cameras anywhere in a federal courthouse? That no one would be able to connect the dots? The show really shoulda thought this one through a little bit more. It would've made more sense to get her during the transport. This was just silly.
