  1. Caught the second half of the "Stone Soup" episode. My preschool teacher told us that story and had us make it. I never knew it was such a thing. I just had to love that Ma took over for Laura at the school. I had to laugh when Willie poured the water over replacement-Nellie. Poor Willie. His mother only loved her daughters, it seemed. I also wondered how it was that only the children helped water the orchard and why they were so enthusiastic. I can't get my sister to do anything. Kids these days.
  2. Late to the game here, but that episode was awkward as all. Man, oh man. I will admit, though, that Jill's Derick has me intrigued. I can't wait to see more of them. Benessa, on the other hand, I can live without. They are definitely not for each other. Jessa seemed like she hated being around him. Maybe that's just how she is, as others have said she's "standoffish", but I just don't see things working out happily for them.
  3. Isn't Derick older than Jill? If Jana does meet, court, and marry a friend of his, maybe they'll be similar in age and life disposition? I hope so. Poor Jana. I think she would really make the right man happy and maybe that man will make her happy.
  4. It's strange that no one has commented yet. Anything new with y'all? Did you come from TWoP?
  5. That's something. I didn't think about that. I'll have to rewatched it and see if it's her voice. I like to think that a kind old woman took Beth, thinking Daryl had her captive and Beth had finally escaped. Maybe that scrappy old dog belonged to the old woman. I don't like Beth, but I'm hoping she's somewhere nice.
  6. Ah, yes I remember that. Or too cold. Or too windy. Honestly, my mom locked all of us kids outside when we were kids. Many of the ones that would like to play outside are old enough to do it without supervision. I don't understand why JChelle doesn't do that. Or maybe because the older girls aren't out there to watch everyone's countenance.
  7. Speculation, but from the way Jill seemed in the preview about the man she's in love with and has never met, maybe that dude will up the ante. Poor Ben doesn't know enough to do something spectacular, but maybe Jill's guy will? I'm rooting for Jill all the way.
  8. I disagree with you there. I think they've taken care of children the entire series, but not much in terms of mothering. They give hugs and kisses, put them to bed, and feed them, but I think a little more goes into it there. They don't have a good role model of how to be a mother. Not saying that they couldn't learn, but raising a child (however poorly you've been educated on it) and mothering are two different things, IMO.
  9. Is it weird I can't imagine the J'Slaves as mothers? I don't know why. I guess because I still see them as the little girls we started out watching. (Doesn't help with their mental/emotional maturity.)
  10. I'm a big Jana fan. Well, maybe fan is the wrong term. I want to be her BFF and talk to her about Thai food and help her pick out clothes she wants to wear and take her to a night club, only we'll end up a Barnes and Noble because we're both actually shy and I'll introduce her to some of my favorite, non-fundie books.
  11. And Josie (?) in the bannister. You're right. It's sad, but you are.
  12. My first thought when I read the title was "Please don't let it be with JB and Jchelle." Since it was, I'm going to prepare for ultra-awkwardness. This is the source of the "YOU CAN'T DO THIS YET!", IIRC.
  13. Why wait? Let's start it now. I don't actually look like Tobias Funke. I am just your averaged 20 something woman who enjoys the outdoors. There, I can't catfish anyone.
  14. Boxed split pea soup would do it for me. I gag just thinking about it. Blech no way, no how.
  15. On a board on a survivalist site, we all made a pact to meet up at one member's commune in Idaho. Maybe we should do something similar. At any rate, we have TWD in common and could talk about that for ages.
  16. Gareth gives me the creeps, but I'd like to see more of him in action. I'd like to see Camp Dinner Bell break out and then let out all the others in train cars. I'm speculating, but I don't think that would happen until the end of Season 5. I wonder if they're going to focus on the Termites like did they did Woodbury. Or maybe they'll show back-and-forth shots between the cable car and the Termites? If I have to watch CDB sit around and talk, I'm going to be bored out of my mind.
  17. IIRC, someone at TWoP said something about paparazzi? I think it may have had something to do with controlling the kids as well. But honestly, they're not controlled indoors either. They just use all of their energy to act out and destroy things and eat processed cheese slices.
  18. I have mixed feelings about this theme. I keep having flashbacks to when my sixth grade teacher showed us "Something Wicked This Way Comes". I know the ideas are not entirely similar, but that's what I keep going to. I have high hopes for a death by carousel.
  19. I am a Giraffe so I oringinally heard about it on there as people were discussing the mid season finale of season 2. I was in college then and started catching up online in time for the mid-season premiere. I happened to find out one of my friends watched it and so we watched it together. It grew into a big deal and soon we were having particies at her apartment every week for the viewing and a nice discussion. I'll add I would've started watching it ages ago, but I love "28 Days Later". Another friend told me the first episode was like the opening to 28DL and I wasn't sure I could handle a show that would be that intense all the time. Thankfully (or maybe not), it isn't, so I watch with satisfaction. (Most of the time.) ETA: Apocalyptic tv shows, movies, books are my jam. I love it so much. My favorite parts are the different ways creators reinvent society and what it means to be human after the end. I guess that's why I stuck around.
  20. Daryl Dixon (for country livin' and - erm - reasons) Derek Morgan (for protection and - erm - other reasons) The guy from Treehouse Masters (to build us a sweet treehouse) Bo Adams from Resurrection (for her talents and because she's cute) Olivia Benson from L&O: SVU (mostly for her aim and general badassery, but also for another woman
  21. Honestly, I'll take any one (or all) of the Duggar kids. Some of them are older than myself, but I feel like I have far more experience with pretty much anything. I'll help them with whatever they need me to. Hell, I'd even let Smuggar and Anna tag along. (I'm one of the few that actually likes Anna.) I just feel so bad for all 19 of the kids. It wasn't their fault they weren't able to do so many things. I also just watched the Duggar Flea Market episode for the first time. I thought it was odd that they were selling outdoor toys that I'm sure the little ones would enjoy, but then I remembered people over at TWop a few months ago mentioned that the kids don't play outside anymore. How sad.
  22. I agree, this episode was really painful. Hoorah for Jill! As much as others may not like her, I always have. I can't wait to see her elope. (One can hope.) Jenny does not look like the Duggars at all. Is she the milkman's kid? Jackson and Hannie's talking heads were super adorable. Is it weird I want to raise them myself? Ben was....sheesh, I don't even know. Cringe-worthy through and through. Poor Jessa. ETA: I agree with the whole "Jessa is scared/angry". I think she's both. I don't know her myself, but I don't think she likes Ben. When she was on the "double date" with Ben and his parents and his father asked if she thought the relationship was going places (or whichever weird way he worded it), she just smiled and nodded. Not exactly what I'd call being sure. I think she knows they're not compatible and is afraid. This is pure speculation and no where have I read this, but I'm getting a strange vibe from Ben. Like a future-extreme-disciplinarian vibe. I stand by my "poor Jessa". I would not want to be in her shoes.
  23. Rewatched the Nellie's babies episode. Percy's family gives the Olesons a run for their money in the drama department. On the other hand, it's interesting to see life as the stereotypical Jew on the show. I couldn't tell if ML / the show were being snarky or what. What a weird place to live.
  24. A couple thoughts. First, what's up with Netflix? The order of episodes is totally whack. Secondly, I just watched the Jubillee episode for the first time. (Couldn't do it before because it's too close to home.) I think the episode was full of mood whiplash. One second, J'Chelle was crying, next thing she was smiling. Bad editing? I don't know.
