  1. For Drama's sake I hope Alexis Michelle keeps it up. What a bizarre interlude she gave us during Untucked. Also, her baldness "covering" haircut is really distracting when she's not in drag. Saying that, she makes a really good looking queen in makeup. They say absence makes the heart go fonder but in the case of Kandy Muse, nope.
  2. Yikes. https://www.thedailybeast.com/rupauls-drag-race-star-shangela-accused-of-raping-an-assistant
  3. Thank you for the list of famous strippers. I'm not putting down the talent of stripping. I'm saying the difference was stark between a charismatic, talented, force of fucking nature like Jinkx Monsoon and what Sasha Colby showed us. One of these people are on Broadway. One of these people could carry a two-hour show with talent. This was supposed to be the BIG DEAL. This was supposed to be the culmination of a season's worth of hard work. And in the finale of what was Sasha's season, the queen for an older season was the star of the show. That's my point. tl;dr Sasha Colby, as great as she is, can't hold Jinkx Monsoon's jock.
  4. I was only talking about Sasha, not all the queens. Also I was drawing a contrast between somebody like Jinkx who commands the stage (She was the highlight of the finale for me) and one person like Sasha whose final LS (not speaking about her original song), to me, was nothing more than a strip-tease. An on-beat strip-tease nonetheless but still a strip-tease. I guess, for me, it comes down to what I would rather see. A queen who is good enough to be wanted on Broadway (etc.) or one who could give the local gals a run for their money down at the Golden Cheetah. Also, I prefer to engage this show within my own paradigm of enjoyment. I'm not going to not express my opinion just because the Right is making shit up about drag queens.
  5. No big surprise that Sasha ended up winning. BUT, the difference is stark between somebody like Jinkx who is a superstar and Sasha whose final drag act this season was basically just a woman doing a strip tease. Mrs. Mahfouz used the word "trashy" to describe her LS. Also wondering why the judges never once called out Luxx for her inability to do her makeup well enough so that she doesn't just look like a man in makeup. The no padding up top does NOT help that either.
  6. Mistress's good nature certainly takes a back seat whenever SHE is the focus of good-natured "ribbing". Mrs. Mahfouz and I did the usual "Who IS that?" when Ru introduced this season's queens. We are still not sure who the one with the awful wig and jeans is? Poppy? Pippa?
  7. I feel like Sasha is the closest thing to a shoe-in since Bianca Del Rio. Either she or Anetra would be acceptable to me. Luxx, MIB, and Loosey are all really similar in that their mouths tend to overshadow their actual performances. They are their own biggest fans. Judging seemed really stilted this episode. I think at one point Ross was reading off of a note card.
  8. If I'm watching this episode with a critical eye the set design makes me think that shopping at a thrift store is akin to living in a rubble-filled dystopia. Gigi is no better/worse than Alexa Chung was but, man, does her (GH's) voice NOT match up AT ALL with her look. I was expecting something, for lack of a better term, refined sounding.
  9. Ru has improved her dancing a bit. Instead of just moving her feet back and forth, she added in a little forward and back. Well done! What a horrible story told by Anetra. Seems weird that her mom's reaction went from "please you don't have to hide from us" to "You're creeping us out, get lost!". Sounds more like the step-dad had an issue. Fuck that guy for ruining a, seemingly, supportive relationship for Anetra.
  10. Just watched this season over the past few days. Mostly boring. BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE Blu Hydrangea for doing whatever it took to leave me with the lasting image of Pangina wailing as she exited the stage. Fantastic TV. I think Pangina needs a little lesson in perspective. I don't think Blu was completely aboveboard with Pangina in terms of keeping her around but she even admitted that sending her home was tempting so I can't accuse her of being shady. I think Pangina has a high opinion of herself and probably couldn't possibly imagine anybody as talented as her getting sent home.
  11. I think Aura got the win because when you usually register a 0.5 on a 1-10 scale for charisma and then you roll a 2 it seems like a huge improvement. I expect her to last two more weeks, tops. I thought the old hip-hop grannies were a little too limber in their dances. I can't remember which finale it was, but Rupaul was doing a "dancing" number where she basically just moved her feet about two inches to the right/left in beat with the music. Would have loved to see one of the teams do a perfect rendition of that "dance" move. Ru needs to get the hell off of MTV. I miss the hour long shows.
  12. I really don't understand how the casting folks allow all these boring drag queens to make it through. For all of the twins' annoying ways, at least they have personalities suited for Drag Race (bombastic, a little brash). Aura's personality, on the other hand, ends when she's done flexing her biceps. By the very nature of its existence, drag is NOT boring. No favorites emerged from Snatch Game. I dig Amethyst's sense of humor but she needs to be better with the execution.
  13. Mrs. Mahfouz pointed out that Sasha Colby does NOT look healthy. Weirdly-colored skin (in her talking heads) and her supposed-to-be-white part of the eyes is most assuredly not white. No real favs this early in the game and I am hoping to separate some chaff after Snatch Game. If I were Sugar/Spice I would NOT have allowed Jax to move me down to the end of the table. I have to say I don't find the twins as annoying as I thought I would have. They seem genuine. I don't like Malaysia constantly gate-keeping on who is the REAL drag artist. When people do that they are almost always doing so in order to keep themselves on top. Untrustworthy.
  14. During the tic-tac segment Michelle and Rupaul had the same color skin. Interesting. Did the Queens write their own lyrics for the performance? I may have missed something but I don't remember them saying one way or the other. I'm not mad about Danny winning. She was really funny and seemed a genuine personality. Cheddar did herself NO favors by giving the ol' ambivalent reaction to being crowned.
  15. Pixie had the best joke of the episode. Maybe if she had said Michelle was the 9000 year-old skeleton it would have gone over better? The longer Jonbers is in the competition the more chance she'll finally learn how to apply makeup.
  16. What percentage of time of each episode is devoted to the different representation metrics most queens (or the Producers) are intent on beating us over the head with? I've said it before and I'll keep saying it but whoever is doing BLH's hair should be investigated by the UN War Crimes Commission. I found Victoria Scone's and Silky's treatment of the guest to be a bit off-putting. I mean, I get when they talk crudely to, ogle, and eye-fuck the Pit Crew. That's why they're there. But to do that to a professional -- not only a professional, but an award-winning professional who is there solely to help you -- was pretty shitty. Why mention her tits? Why call her your wife? I wasn't a fan of either of them before and this certainly does nothing persuade me otherwise.
  17. Cheddar Gorgeous seems like she is already a complete entity. I don't really see any sorta growth storyline coming from her which may hurt her chances at winning the whole season. While I appreciated the message behind her runway look I thought it was a bit too simple. Message > Fashion in this case.
  18. Also, calling a team of five "Triple Threat" is likely the worst name of a non-existent girl group in the history of the world. Not saying it was the reason they lost but it surely didn't help. It just set a stupid tone.
  19. Second on Danny Beard giving The Viv vibes, same voice, same accent, same rock-hard face. Starlet was so boring/bored. She makes Pearl seem as charismatic as, The Rock? A rock? I thought it was hilarious how proud she was of her performance. It was almost a literal black-hole of charisma when she was performing. If she is what's best of South African drag please Rupaul no Drag Race S. Africa.
  20. Good point. It was my mistake by not clarifying. I have not watched non-English seasons and I should have made that more clear while painting the whole of Drag with such a brush.
  21. The Amazon lady was an interesting shade of orange. Also, wasn't much movement going on in her facial "expressions".
  22. Not that this matters too much but Brazilians aren't considered Hispanic. They speak Portuguese.
  23. Another Drag Race from a satellite campus and another finale of mediocre queens. Who's it going to be this season? Queen Kong, the most overrated drag queen since Bebe Zaharia Benet. Has not an ounce of charisma in her body and seems, and this is really weird to say about a drag queen, really fucking boring. or Tom Sizemore, errrr, I mean Spankie Jackson. The queen with the worst makeup skills this side of Jada Shada Hudson. or Hannah Conda, the queen with the sinister anti-woke past? And the voice and laugh of Wallace Shawn. I'm starting to think that until the worldwide queens can get their shit together and present a whole season of decent queens then they should combine all of the non-U.S. competition into one global season. Stop saturating the market with not-up-to-snuff queens.
  24. I was disappointed in the choices for the Final 2. I would have preferred Fierce and KC to lip-sync but Giselle winning isn't the WORST outcome. She was a decent queen in a really bad season. No effing way JSH should have been in the final two, her makeup was ASS all season. Although I have to say Giselle is lucky it wasn't an Aretha song for the final sync.
  25. Synopsis: Coming off of the strongest runway of the season, the remaining designers are assigned to create a two-look fesitival wear collection, leading many of them to face their biggest challenge yet and ending with a shocking result. Good riddance to bad garbage. I was rooting for Sienna to go home and my wish was granted. I thought it was HILARIOUS that Curtis said he didn't want to make anything that was stereotypically gay and then went out and pretty much made the gayest thing ever lol :) I'm not sure how many straight guys are going to rock those big puffy sleeves.
