  1. I liked how the judges pointed out that Mark/Jessica a good example of the master/apprentice relationship at work. It gave good insight into how some bladesmiths are formed. That added to the joy of watching them figure out how to handle things like the cracks. I held my breath for them in the strength tests! In a few years, it would be cool to see Jessica compete on her own. So much for “Iron Man.” That was creative doing the “M”s but the time constraints on this show favor the most direct approach or using techniques that are ingrained in muscle memory. Raleigh/Kelly sure were fun to watch. I felt for the medic when Kelly was yelling “I don’t have time for this! I don’t have time!” and fighting his efforts to cover up her bleeding injury. I hope they bring Raleigh back in a regular episode, just to watch her hammer away at some metal. They were memorable contestants, that’s for sure. How did Doug get injured?
  2. Dang, I thought it was me--there were so many off-key performances tonight. Christiana disappointed two nights in a row. I agree with @Prin Holmes, that was an awful song choice. Maybe part of it was that she was interpreting the song title literally and not really connecting with the lyrics. She definitely wasn't connecting with me. Unlike WILKES. Even before his mike mishap, I thought he had it in the bag. That song choice was inspired, and the emotion he brought to it was convincing and moving. He deserved all four coaches standing. If they had voting available on NBC.Com I totally would have voted for him. Pryor also received a four coach stand. There's no nuance though, and it totally sucked for him following WILKES. Gary -- lol, I'm so grateful I recognize the song that it took a while for the "the Hell?" to kick in. I also realize that I prefer his backstory to his actual performances. I keep rooting for Terrance, even though an almost total falsetto performance really isn't my cuppa. On a completely shallow note, I see that Alicia's wearing makeup again. She's beautiful without it, and beyond gorgeous with it.
  3. Is it bad that "Hey Ya" is one of my favorite songs, and it wasn't until I came here that I realized it was Christiana's song? I blame the "warp speed" (TM) @PhD-Purgatory15 of the format. I know I complain about the filler they pad the shows with, but this blink-and-you'll-miss-it almost-montage was ridiculous.
  4. So true! I always have to wait to hear their name being used, or some context, in order to tell them apart. I couldn't read it either. He didn't seem all that surprised to see her. Were they already having an affair? That was also weird, his encounter with "Kate". It seemed that he wanted more than just to apologize to her. I agree that he's the best thing about the show right now. Eleanor used to be the character who was my favorite to watch, but frankly Jaspenor bores me. I just can't get past how toxic their relationship is, especially in contrast with what's happening between Willow and Robert (Wilbert? RobLowe?) The chemistry and dialogue between Willow and Robert is off the chart, and makes Liam/Kathryn and Jaspenor look tepid and dull. She is stunning, and totally believable as a woman in her prime who is still living it up in diamond studded handcuffs and hair up in pigtails. So cute her absolute glee in getting Hansel as her dinner guest. Loved her son IRL getting to say "Happy Birthday Mum" to her. (I did look for the resemblance between them.) It was a welcome surprise to see Cyrus still in London, albeit in the Venezuelan embassy. It would be awesome if somehow he comes to the rescue and neutralizes Jasper's dad. I can deal with Jasper being knighted, but not that Robert was bested by his father. Really hoping there's a longer game underway, because a guy who can cause a massive blackout can't possibly give in to blackmail...can he?
  5. I don’t disagree about the show not doing Kyla justice. The show made everyone look bad, although some more than others. My issue is how it seems more important (to Kyla) that she be seen as an activist, rather than any cause that she’s promoting. @SnarkAttack30 I share the frustration that each week is a different cause. Because she’s a winner, the tricksy editors have decided on a narrative about her “having lost her way” instead of treating social conscience as a fashion accessory. She talked about her stuttering, her head trauma, being or supporting queers (that might have been the first episode that she talked about being an activist), and most recently being bi-racial and wanting to help other kids whose parents divorced (!) Those are the ones I remember off the top of my head, and @CheezyXpressed has just reminded me of yet another one. She seems to bring these different causes up that the show never lets us see her talk about again. This is especially extra given how the show forcefed us weeks of Brendi’s tearful narratives about how horrible her life is, which kind of gives the impression that everyone else either has less sucky circumstances or have figured out how to deal (and can then be inspirations, like TYRA!) Kyla’s identity right now is either blank slate, wanna-be activist or lowest common denominator. I think the real problem is that the show hasn’t figured out for itself what constitutes ANTM – soooo glad they dropped the “BOSS” crap from last season. I liked the argument between Law and Drew. Drew was pissy enough to pull the “it’s MY magazine” card, but so much for Krys having the best pho-TOE of the three. Krystyana was truly robbed. But did they really have to decimate her like that to make her ouster an inevitability? This is the same girl who won other runway challenges! I also hope that she gets massive success from hereon out. As for Jeana. She didn’t have a chance. They tried to get rid of her not once but twice, and somewhere midstream TPTB decided to turn her into this season’s villain. Maybe if they had started that narrative when we first met her I’d have enjoyed this season a lot more, instead of seeing editing shenanigans all over the place. I’m really uncomfortable with all the shaming about her being in Playboy or work like that. (OK, I laughed at @bref's comment about seeing her genitalia) She talked about her circumstances—I think her mother was an addict and possibly a sex worker, and Jeana was abused in fostercare. Given all that, it’s easy to understand why opportunities to be paid to pose would be so enticing, and why she would see it (or want to see it) as an empowering choice. There’s no way that narrative would fly on this show, so better to edit her in a way that oks her being bullied or given the cold shoulder by the other girls in the house—including the self-proclaimed activist.
  6. Britton vs. Dallas -- Dallas sounded pitchy even to my untrained ears, so I appreciated Kelly pointing it out (and so graciously too) And btw, shut up Adam. D.R. vs. Tish -- I would have given the win to DR too—he took me on a journey. I never heard that song before, let alone know there were two versions, but I was hanging on his every word. Tish is undeniably a powerhouse, and I liked that she told Kelly that all the other teams agreed she was the best coach. Wish she got to say more about that. Tish wouldn’t have fared well against Sharane or Kelsea—the ones who closed out the night. Wilkes and Dylan – oh no, Kelly. You used your only steal on Dylan? Do they not know which artists are still coming up? Or were the knockouts almost over? That being said, Wilkes clearly won it. As Chloe said, it’s an iconic song for Miley, but Wilkes made it his. (Did Chloe sing it in her season? I feel like someone did) The teen/tween vote might be strong enough to keep Dylan alive for a while, and maybe that’s Kelly’s strategy. Gary vs Rayshun – as much as Adam acts the buffoon (see: Blake rivalry), I really like reminders of what a good coach Adam can be. I knew Rayshun was going to win the minute he started singing Alicia’s song—and killing it. It overshadowed the beautiful subtleties that Gary brought out in his song. Kelly was right, his lower tones were like “butter”. I was so happy that Blake saved Gary. Even if he's fodder, I can see a future for Gary in Christian music and Blake can help get him there. Alexa vs. Jorge -- Alexa was the right choice. Blake was correct that she didn’t make it a blowout, and she could have. But Jorge, while he did have that presence that impressed Kelly, just didn’t bring the same energy to his performance as he did in the rehearsal. Montage: Reid wins. Wow, was the other person so terrible that they practically showed all of Reid’s performance AND Adam’s pronouncement that he won while leaving her out? Sharane vs. Kelsea -- I love that rasp in Kelsea’s voice,Kelly! Oh good, Blake just pointed that out. I’m glad that Alicia went with Kelsea, and Adam will make a good coach for Sharane. It was a good end to the evening.
  7. I loved this episode. It was jam packed with so much goodness, I hope this show’s renewed. It made sense that Eleanor would do the Robin Hood thing. It’s an extension of her throwing the Palace open to “the People” plus she was just so gleeful at learning all the con artist tricks from “Count Bellagio” (Besides, setting up her foundation was taking too long!) It was adorable to see her skulking about in her incognito outfit with the 5” spike heels, lol. I am ALL in on Robert/Willow. There’s still a slight twinge of Robert possibly still having another motive regarding Willow, but their chemistry is off the charts. I give a lot of credit to the actor for making Robert so nuanced that I totally buy that he’s fallen in love, but still wonder if he’s a con artist on a royal scale. My happiness about Mr. Hill telling Jasper the ballistics results is that whatever or whomever is behind it, it doesn’t involve Mr. Hill. The signs definitely point to Robert, but it could also be an elaborate red herring. I wonder how Robert pulled off the power outage. Wow Cyrus is really gone....but I think he'll turn up again if the show's renewed. I still think Sebastian is better for Eleanor than Jasper, but what a surprise reveal! Glad that in this episode, all three generations of women are getting it ON.
  8. If Liam IS Adam, I will vomit. That kiss! That look she gave him afterwards!
  9. As soon as I saw that the episode was directed by none other than Papa Pope, I sat back for an hour of speechifying and eeeMOting....which is what I got. I can't with Huck's current persona of wide eyed innocence. Not thrilled with the teaser of showing Olivia and Cyrus alone in a windowless room with her hands on a metal chair....and ....still two more episodes to go.
  10. Giving credit to the smarter ones who first pointed out some of the observations I made as well. Going to steal "letting others live rent free in her head" for myself! (Don't know how to add it back into my original post, sorry for a separate one)
  11. I wish I could love this multiple times. I don't doubt that there's something there to make Khrystyana of all people throw shade on her, but I thought the accusations of Jeana trying to sabotage K and copy her moves were producer driven. We were already shown how even Director X fessed up to asking Jeana to insert herself into the scene with K and Shanice in that video, the willingness to believe the worst of Jeana had already done its damage. Shanice admitted to how the three girls were deliberating icing Jeana out. If Jeana's trying to copy K, its doubtful that she would have gone all Playboy-esque as she did. I think if anything she was looking around to see what she could learn from all the other girls, since they're not getting any helpful coaching otherwise. (Like that tip about using props--less is more? Say it to the girls, Ashley, not just the client!) I also think under the time constraints its hard to figure out a strategy for yourself AND how to sabotage someone else. It's just bizarre how the editing was about her being a great role model in the beginning of the season (still loved that moment when she embraced being bald as part of her Ty-over) and now she's the most Villainous Villain that ever Villained. Jeana -- and Khrystyana --are more activists than Kyla is, and I'm not sure Kyla has the maturity yet to recognize it and learn from it. I loved what Khrstyana had to say about her own experience being abused, and how she wanted to help others with it. I'm hoping that there was more conversation with her mother off-screen that the editors tastefully decided not to share. She's also been a proponent for body acceptance in that instagram. I recognize that Kyla's getting the winner's edit right now (though I'm still rooting for Khrystyana to take it all). Apparently this week she's an activist for mixed race people. Is she like an all-purpose activist, going with a different cause depending on the day of the week? It's curious if she ever had a conversation with Jeana or the other girls about being mixed race. And I wasn't a fan of her pho-TOE for the reasons that @Crazydoxielady stated. Even though Jeana has no shot at winning, I'm ok with gross Phillip Plein saving her. He is a designer who's a cut above people like LA Dude with a German Noun Name , who represents a real international client who would be hiring girls for his advertising and runway. It's also (for me) recognition of how the girls in this competition have to go from high fashion to commercial to video vixen on a dime and with little guidance. As Tyra said to Kardashian-lookalike whose name I've already forgotten and to Liberty, some girls can't succeed in every type of modelling. Shanice I don't think can succeed in any modelling, but if she can focus on her own career, I think she could find success in acting.
  12. Re: Choosing Bradley over Libby (which caused much celebration in the Kaiju household) Was anyone aware of Bradley being singled out by Michael and his crew as the Leader and one to vote out a few tribals back? Couldn't keep track of the merges and who went where, but if Dom et.al. knew about this, it would help support the thought that Bradley has very strong alliances potentially waiting for him post-merge (props to @ProfCrash for pointing that out)
  13. While I felt sad for Andre, my heart broke for Lucious at the revelation that the son he had just expressed his pride and belief in was responsible for the car bomb. It was sweet how his main outrage was that Andre had put Cookie’s life at risk. Maybe he and Cookie do have a dysfunctional relationship, but there is true love there. I’m liking Tiana’s new look, and I felt all skeeved out at Eddie’s weird fixation with her. I was praying hard that he wasn't going to try to make her Wife Number Four. How sweet was it when Becky had her heart to heart with Jamal? Hopefully he’s reminded how valued he is as a human being, especially after the trauma he just went through. I liked how TBD was handled. Lucious can be a dick, but he’s an entertaining one. “The years have been kind to you” to one of the TBDers “and you not so much” to the other. HAHAHA And awwww when Lucious told them to apologize to his queen. I’m glad they’re not shoving the fallout from last week’s episode under the rug—it’s good that Cookie does want to think about some of the points that Crazy Nurse brought up, even if Crazy Nurse is, well, crazy.
  14. Thanks--made the edit! @nilyank -- I'm aware. The point I failed to make was that the apartment he did move into after the airbnb was really nice, and not realistic for someone relying on a salary just starting out in the ADA's office (someone who wasn't top choice at that.) I did like the scene in the steak restaurant, where it was obvious that his friend made about 10 times as much as Seth, and would take every opportunity to remind Seth of that. It makes Seth a more interesting character for me, when his choice to be independent and stay true to his values isn't an easy one at all. It just seemed like a misfire, when the show does other details so well, like the scene with the craftsman looking over the wooden spinner box (and what that says about Anna Deavere Smith's character), or Littlejohn's post-its and color-coded tabs.
  15. I laughed when she described herself as that. Looking forward to her getting voted off. So happy that the banner-burning reversed the curse not just for the tribe but for the season. Ding Dong the Dick is Gone. Thank you, Show, for even making me think that it would be Libby because I wanted Bradley gone so much. And both Michael and Wendell finding idols? If they can get Laurel in with them (and maybe Donathan) I'd be thrilled.
  16. Brynn—amazing, a totally hard act to follow. I think even Jamella knew she didn’t have a chance and that might have added to her nerves. Jaron lived out his cannon fodder destiny against Pryor. It would have been less of a blowout if he created a different arrangement for it, anything other than a straight up impersonation of Bruno Mars. I agree that was part of Blake’s long term strategy to take Pryor into the finals. It’s easy to forget under all his aw-shucks exterior and Adam’s calling him stupid that he actually has a really keen strategic mind. I wasn’t a fan of Chloe’s, but I have to give props. She’s shown as giving good advice and having an easy rapport with Blake. It reminds me of how in her season, she knew the importance of stage presence and performance, not just the singing. My heart sank when I saw that it was Christiana against Terence. I really got drawn into her rendition of Elastic Heart, and she’s got this awesome smile. If it were against most of the other singers she would have won easily. I give credit to Terence for stepping up following that. I actually like his look, hair-fascinator and all. I also think he was the right choice to keep -- he stands out, his performance is electrifying and as long as he’s given the right songs to showcase his range and that incredible falsetto he’ll go far. Has Blake won the most times with a stolen artist? For that reason if I were Christiana I would go with him (if he tried to steal me). I don't remember if his hand was up, but if it wasn't I'd probably return to Alicia.
  17. Yes, I had to handwave that away, especially since the CEO’s lawyer was the newly minted partner who was friends with Seth. The press which was managed in last week’s case with Littlejohn wasn’t even a factor in this one. Which was odd, given that they mentioned some of the existing bad publicity the CEO had. I think the writers expect that a lot of these inconsistencies won’t be caught with the fast pace of each episode. Right now, it feels like they’re cramming too much into a 43 minute show. Each case could have merited a full episode on its own (with the two subplots). As it was, the full emotional weight of Seth’s closing argument didn’t have the time to sink in. And it’s astonishing that the CEO’s law firm apparently had the means to dig into the backgrounds of the other two witnesses but didn’t have anything on the secretary whose testimony was pivotal. I also didn’t think that the scenes between Seth and his ex rang true. It was too pat. She was coming off more like an Obiwan Kenobi, than a former love that he had been dependent on for two years. Someone who had as of last episode still wanted him back. I get what they were trying to do, but maybe it was because of the rushed pace it just felt clunky and unbelievable. (Another nitpick is that his new apt’s pretty gorgeous. It was a missed opportunity to give him a crappier type of living situation to really show what he was giving up by not getting back together with her.) Similarly, the case with Mary McCormack’s character could have been drawn out more, if it was something that Hope Davis’s character felt she needed to handle the case personally. And if you blinked, you’d miss the beautiful moment about the craftsmanship that went into the wooden spinner box. Yes, she really does stand out--even before the previous episode which focused on her. I like the fact they have this friendship based on mutual respect, given how hard it is to gain either of their respect. I do like this show, though, and I think if it’s given a series pickup it’ll work out a more confident pacing with room for some of the more compelling moments to land.
  18. The good news is, Dynasty has been officially renewed for a second season! There was also a slight uptick in ratings, which they attribute to Alexis's return, so now I am excited about all the possibilities for her character and where it could go. I love how this discussion is showing how little we do know about her origins - so much to discover! I was pretty much hoping for the same oomph that Joan Collins brought in to the role, and from what we've seen so far of Nicolette Sheridan falls short (for me). As if she's a character wandering in from another show. As @methodwriter85 points out, she's like the Real Housewives version. Tonally, it's not making sense for me just yet as the mother of Fallon or precursor to Cristal. (I also had problems seeing how Blake fell in love with Cristal, other than for plot purposes.) Original Recipe Alexis was The Badass in every scene, which is why it was exciting to see Dominque Devereaux introduced, so they could tear up the set together. Here, Fallon's The Badass, and so far Alexis doesn't even come close. She needs to be the Mother of All Badassery. It also doesn't help that Joan Collins is still being her fabulous self on The Royals, so the comparison is fresher for me. Even if her daughter--Elizabeth Hurley's character--is a badass, she still falls in line (without losing her badassery) every time Joan Collin's character sweeps in. So it can be done. On another note, Anders better be digging up files on Mr. Fallon Carrington as he did on Cristal. I'm hoping that with the license to go for a second season, the writers will explore this more. I did appreciate the tension between Culhane--who is African American-- and Colby, and the depth they gave Monica Colby for a hot second when she was talking about the stereotype of her father being in prison. I don't remember the specifics, but it was one of one of those moments that revealed this show's huge potential to provide incisive social commentary under all the glitz and hairpulling fights. Certainly the deliberately diverse casting and setting in Atlanta enables storylines about race, class and sexuality in today's world to a greater extent than a straight up reboot could have done.
  19. Her tone was really special. But the writing was on the wall when she was put up against Kyla. There were moments when it did seem less like a musical performance and more like an Olympic sport with Kyla's "caterwauling" (perfect term!) As @Tanichka said, unfortunately the powerhouse vocals are usually the more obvious crowdpleasers where the coaches are concerned. I kind of already "know" what Kyla will sound like going forward (more powerhouse vocals and a gospel song choice at a crucial round) and I'm already bored. I prefer getting the surprises and unique performances from more nuanced singers. Austin Giorgio--I like his voice, but his performance seemed so forced, unlike that of Noah Mac's who I believe was also Team Blake. Blake is definitely a game player. He picked the person who he knew others would try to steal, and saved the person who they wouldn't. Hope the other Blake teammates didn't hear him say that Austin and Spensha were his favorites. Adam is really carried away with his emotions and Blake is the more strategic player. He should have done what Blake did, unless he genuinely thought that the other coaches were going to steal Mia whose performance was good, but not enough (I think) to get a steal. I do like the introduction of the save, and the way Blake used it in his argument about how he's never kicked that Evanescence singer to the curb. Speaking of, she really should have gone with Blake. Girl, Alicia even said she hit her button out of funsies! And Blake did just win with someone who was more rock. I was annoyed at how much the performance relied on back up vocals and special effects. And lucky for Drew Adam blew his save. Yeah, me too. It made me wonder not only how songs are chosen as @incandescent asked, but what happens when you get a comment from a coach in their first prep meeting that it might not be the best choice for them (or words to that effect)? It seems like you can't change, and that can't help with the nerves which were already a problem. It almost feels like he already knew it was going to fall apart when he came on. Blake's comment was really spot on, between the identifying exactly what Justin set out to do, and pinpointing where the actual effort fell short. Fortunately another favorite did make it through -- Johnny Bliss. Even though it was a far from perfect performance, I'm glad he'll be around to show us more. But Mya Bass notably fell apart, making it a clear choice. I appreciate that they didn't montage this, though.
  20. Totally agree. I loved his courtship of Willow, and her falling for him after seeing the thoughtful gestures he made. And then, of course, after seeing Helena Junior hit it off with him. I really like the person that Eleanor is becoming. But for me, that makes it glaringly obvious how Jasper’s all wrong for her. In contrast, Sebastian is the one who’s always encouraged her to explore her potential, and be more than what everyone now expects. She’s a long way from the partying, drugged out rebel without a crown that we met at the beginning of the series. Isn’t Sebastian also a prince? And yet he was there, djing at the hospital party and putting up with Jasper’s BS. I guess I should resign myself to Jaspenor as endgame. Or maybe that’s another reason to root for Robert, who is turning out to truly be the Queen’s son, if he does succeed in getting rid of him. Brilliant that Liam would turn out to be the “Scar”(ha!) /Cyrus to Robert’s Mufasa/ King Simon. Liam’s character has really been ravaged, hasn’t it? I was distracted by the really prominent veins on his arms—the way they’ve been writing his character, he might as well be green and run around going "Liam SMASH!" I call bullshit on the Palace leaving the decision up to Mr. Hill (whom I love) on what to do with Liam after he pulls a loaded gun on the king and queen. It also took me way too long to figure out it was Greta and not Katheryn that he visited (did they use the same apt?) And ewwww on Robert spying on his mother having sex. And making that his new screensaver, apparently. That being said, I really did enjoy this episode and I’m hoping that there is another season or two.
  21. My favorite Fallon line from this episode -- "I don't say things that I don't mean, unless it's sorry." The campier the better, AFAIC! I'm not a fan of Nicolette Sheridan's Alexis either, or that she's channeling a trashier Stiffler's Mom. I wish they had cast someone with more chemistry with Blake, to make it even believable for a millisecond that younger, hotter Cristal had legitimate cause for worry. It would have been awesome if they had cast Elizabeth Hurley, who's currently Joan Collins's daughter on the Royals. Yes to this. Because it's hard to believe that Blake would have had merged his finances with Cristal if he had married a "gold-digger" before, and it's also difficult to see how conservative snobby grandpa Carrington would have formed a close bond with Alexis....unless they reveal that Fallon is actually Blake's half-sister or something equally OTT. (Pure speculation on how campy they can go) Selling the Chagall should set Alexis up quite nicely.
  22. A Meh episode, with a few highlights as other posters have pointed out. Blindfolded vertical face plants will never cease to be funny. I was also hoping for Des to go over James—she’s been dead to me since her unapologetic rifling through Stephanie’s bag. Also curious why her comment was the title for the episode. I almost felt sorry for her during the challenge, her throat sounded like it was being scraped raw, but then she had to say it was the worst experience of her life. I wish one of the blindfolded folks who walked into wooden posts got to hear that. Rooting for Michael, I would have thought Kellyn and Des see that he’s far more dangerous than James. But then again, I’m kinda hating on Kellyn and Des. Angela looks so much like Robin Wright’s warrior character in Wonder Woman, until she starts talking. At least we were spared her bragging of having the swing vote control of the game. It’s going to be so sweet when Bradley gets voted off. It’s really a bad season when people start standing out because they’re so annoying or in Bradley’s case -- hateable. Wanting Chris to go far purely for “beneficiary” entertainment. Waiting to see more of Wendell and Laurel. The show’s editing has been so uneven that I worry they’ll suddenly craft different characters for Wendell and Laurel. Case in point—Seabass. He’s gone from potentially likeable (the Malcolm, Joe, Ozzy archetype they like to cast) to someone who seems really disingenuous, like he’s trying to be the Jeff Spicoli of Survivor. Good point. I did appreciate that too, "rotting conch smell" and all. A simple gesture that didn't cost him much effort, but can reap a lot of goodwill without seeming like pandering.
  23. That Terence and Livia Battle was everything, Hoping Livia comes back, but glad that Terence was picked. I was unfamiliar with the song, but wow they sure made me feel it. Lol, I loved the glare that Adam gave Blake when Blake commented that the song wasn’t in either of the two girls wheelhouses. I’m thinking cannon fodder either way, although I would have given it to Stephanie. It was also cute when Blake told his girls that one of them better get stolen so he can steal her back—it’s worked before. I’ve been really impressed with Shawn Mendes and Trace Adkins as coaches. They’re shown giving real advice, and assessments of the singers that sound genuine (although I have no way of knowing if it makes sense to people who know music) Things like “stay behind the beat” (Trace) or helping the singers connect to the lyrics (Shawn) remind me why I enjoy the Voice even if I’m unfamiliar with most of the music and artists featured.
  24. Rio psyched herself out. She was all focused on the “unfairness” of someone getting a second chance, but whether or not someone comes back has no real bearing on the person who’s eliminated. Someone’s going home regardless. Her focus should have been on making sure it wasn’t her—something she has some control over--as opposed to her being replaced and futilely raging against the unfairness of it all. Then she set her sights on Jeana being her biggest competition. Arguably, mean-girling her former bestie only helped Jeana become more determined. So in that sense I agree with the critique that Rio’s plateauing. She’s so invested in being indignant, entitled and putting down others—things she has little control over-- she hasn’t really worked on improving and being the best contestant she can. That being said, no way did Shanastypieceofwork deserve to stay over Rio. What was really unfair, with a lot less complaining, was Krystyana having to pose frame after frame with the spider and Erin. Thanks to Liberty, we know that even if you don’t have a fear of spiders, it doesn’t feel too pleasant against your skin. I'm glad that Law pointed out that Jeana sucked it up and turned on the "model model model" Kyla….I still don’t get it, though she revealed a new talent in bootyshaking. And finally her personality is starting to emerge (via edits) Krystyana had to have film that looked better than the FCO, but all the pho-tos selected couldn't embarass Eva or Nigel. Didn’t like Eva in the season she won, so glad that she’s mellowed out and was shown as supportive to the girls. The pregnancy looks good on her. I have to admit to being happy to see Noted Fashion Photographer Nigel Barker. He was harsh with Erin, wonder what we weren’t shown from his interactions with the other girls. Christina looked and sounded off, like if her face plate came off it would reveal her as a droid or an alien. But with a tragic backstory.
  25. Agreed, although Justin deserved the win. If she were up against the other steals (with the exception of Jaclyn Lovly) I agree that she should have gotten the steal instead. I did like the camaraderie between the two of them--they both have great personalities, stage presence and voices! Genesis was robbed. I have no doubt that Mia was better technically, and all the positive critiques she was given, but Mia was completely overshadowed by Genesis's passion and dynamism. If Mia survives the knockouts, I expect her to be one of the first voted out. Britton Buchanon sure got a lot of screams from the audience. It would have been foolish to ignore that, but seeing Blake steal Jaclyn was watching the path to Chloe Kohanski's win all over again. I expect him to do great things with her. I liked Wilkes and Prior. There was something special about their voices that made me want to hear them do more songs. Hopefully that was Wilkes's Nervous Face that can be coached into something more neutral, because he was glowering in a way that was almost scary. In contrast, I'm not a country person at all, but I am kind of liking Trace Atkins' grump-with-a-heart-of-gold demeanor. His rejoinder to Blake about Blake not being memorable as a baby country singer did make me laugh a little. (And I like Blake!)
