  1. I didn't think Jesus, but it makes sense given the Biblical verse that Lazlo quoted about someone greater than John the Baptist coming along, and the symbolism of the water tied into that. Beecham resembled to me one the depictions of John the Baptist from Renaissance painting. I have to confess, I was too busy trying to see the facial tic, while trying not to see him doing horrible things. Poor cat! (I muted and looked away.) Was Beecham the same person who drew them all to the same restaurant in one of the earlier episodes, when we were meant to think it was Sean Young's son? Typical of Lazlo. This isn't the first time he's allowed himself to be within attacking distance of dangerous people, without weapons, like the guy convicted of eating faces or whoever that was chained to a pole and walking in circles. Not to mention taking in Mary. The time he was shot while in the carriage might have been the first time he realized the shizzle's getting real, but even so, he's had a lifetime of affirming that he can reason with otherwise irrational people. Lol, and I was screaming at the TV when she started rushing into the reservoir--don't go in there by yourself!!!! I was worried to see another reprise of someone like Mary (who I would've bet on!) being overpowered by Connor. I was telling myself it was a contrast between the other two romances in the show: Kriezler and Mary's, John and Sara's. There was something quite satisfying (although modern feeling) in that final scene between John and Sara--it wouldn't have felt true to her character if she confessed she were also in love. But it was believable that the potential was there if they continued to work together. Even though he did admit to her being capable enough to one day become the police commissioner (and nice line about her needing to "be allowed" anything moving forward!), it was just minutes/hours before that he was still trying to preserve her "lady-like" reputation by obscuring the fact that she shot Connor. It's still progress from his telling her to stay back from participating or looking at dead bodies, and I'd be interested in watching this continue. And she was right on the money about his wanting what he can't have. He's only learning to work at getting what he wants, and this bodes well for a second season development. I also thought that Esther could have thrived in the opportunity that Sara had, except for her socio-economic place in society. (Was she Jewish as well?) We saw a similar peek in the character of Cyrus' niece/daughter, and the dominatrix-client that Kriezler visited early on. It also helped make Sara seem less of a Mary Sue, and more like a woman unwilling to be marginalized by mainstream expectations, instead using her resources to fulfill her potential as much as possible. I'm also relieved that Joseph survived. The way this show is, I was prepared for the worst.
  2. Yes! You just put into words what drew me into watching this. The pleasant surprise is that instead of a case a week (when we're lucky) with a season-long arc, it's three. It's like a Shondafied Boston Legal minus the levity. I like the premise, but I'm hoping that Duffel Bag isn't supposed to be the "star." I don't recognize any of the actors playing baby lawyers, so they're going by nicknames except for the two characters that stood out: Littlejohn and Jay. And maybe Seth, because he's been namechecked so many times in this discussion. While it's true they're all conventionally good looking, there's something in the fact that their appearances are really deceptive. Littlejohn presents very soft, babyfaced--and yet she's all hard edges and about the work. Seth looks like the classic white frat boy, possibly a legacy admission at an Ivy League, and yet he's total Milquetoast having lived off of his girlfriend and then allowing himself to get pushed around by fellow lawyers. Jay was a bit like the Simon character from HTGAWM (at first). The pilot set him up to be from an immigrant family, uncaring (or unaware) of social niceties such as not eating smelly food when you're trying to make a professional impression. It was easy to write him off as the token outsider or window into an immigrant background. This episode's focus on his family and the way he contributes to their business was really interesting. He's a lawyer not to better his family's material circumstances, but to live out the American dream as seen through politically oppressed refugees' eyes. I also liked the Senator's Son being schooled by her "Calling in your momma is never a power move." Back to appearances--Senators Son's trying to prove himself in the way I had expected Seth to, except he's the one feeling entitled because of his family connections. While Seth is the one who outwardly looks like he's privileged, but didn't even feel like an equal partner in his relationship of two years. And -- Manhattan Apartment Dweller. I had her pegged as the Olivia Pope character, but so far she's only shown that she has a need, possibly unhealthy, to be needed. And she draws in people who make her feel rejected or like crap about being so generous. Seriously, she's found the only two people who would turn down free rent and food in a gorgeous Manhattan apartment with fabulous views and decor. It actually makes me suspicious of Milquetoast and Duffel Bag. Like, what is wrong with them, lol?!?!?
  3. The song was underwhelming, and I felt bad for the girls. After weeks of being told to always remember to look like a model, they're now yelled at for not looking bored or--in Jeana's case--for doing a runway walk in her cyberfetish outfit. What the heck did they put Khrystyana in? I don't even mean the shoes, she looked like she was wearing the knit throw from Grandma's sofa. I'm surprised she didn't get praise for her "show must go on" attitude even when her shoe fell apart. Kyla was given the best outfit, and the only one to have the dining room table to prowl on. When they kept focusing on her crush on Director X, the only surprise was that she didn't get FCO. Sha-nasty looked like those late night telephone line commercials. Right? They tried to create Jeana's smirkgate with Krystyana's stumble, but we've been subjected to Shenasty (nice!)'s smirks whenever Jeana or Rio get critiqued, or in her non-stop trashing of the other girls. She can take her stank walk and equally stank attitude off my screen any minute now.
  4. Sad but true. Assuming that she must have been good to be paired with Johnny Bliss, unless it really was a case of cannon fodder and that was the reason why it was montaged. Other than that, I did agree with all the picks...... although: - I doubt Jorge will make it far - I hope Reid will be coached into having a warmer stage presence. Although his tone is beautiful, he just seems so aloof and distant. - I liked Kelsea’s raspy tone, but wondered how much of that was from her almost losing her voice and what that means in the coming weeks Glad Jordyn was kept, it was cute to see her reaction to Shawn Mendes. Also appreciated her pointing out the value of Alicia’s coaching on top of all the schooling she’s had.
  5. So true. That's what makes the Ty-over work--it's a dramatic transformation, and then there's the evolution of a pretty girl into a model with experience in front of cameras, runway audiences and go-sees. This episode in particular could have done more with the go-sees as teaching moments (in the past, time management was one) Did I hear right, each place could only choose one girl? I was surprised that Krystyana didn't get any, given her past wins in similar challenges. So agree. Who were these people? I'd rather have watched them than what we were shown. When they first said she was a dead ringer for Stacey MacKenzie, I knew they would pick it. But I also wouldn't have been surprised if they blasted her for looking like a knockoff of an established model. Yeah, they focused way too heavily on Brendi K, when Jeana talked about her mom being a drug addict and prostitute, and herself being abused in fostercare. Now that they're giving Jeana the villain treatment it doesn't bode well that they also had her as the only other contestant that Krystyana threw shade at. Although Krystyana was giggling through it, so there might be some editor shenanigans. Who knows. I think he did try to help, we just weren't shown it. But we've seen Shanice's response when Jeana gave her unsolicited advice. We get that Shanice can't stand Jeana, but take help wherever you can get it!!!!
  6. Loved seeing Tegan again. Although she was wrong, Anneliese looked lovely and at the top of her game. Even liked AK telling Frank it's time to forgive themselves, even if they don't deserve it. About time! Seems like the Isaac storyline has wrapped up, although I was unsure why Isaac said "this is the last time we'll see each other" or something to that effect. I kept expecting Jacqueline to show up and start something. Did Simon just sign his own death warrant with Laurel's dad? Bravo Mikaela facing down the detective. Was she confronting Tegan to buy Oliver more time with Simon? I do buy her being conflicted about Marcus. He's ambitious, he's got serious clout and he's keeping it real. He could very easily be Barack to her Michelle--he's got a great political career ahead of him, and she's always had that dream of being part of a power couple. I did roll my eyes at Connor. Who is he to judge? And Oliver and Connor could have said to Asher that they were squicked out hearing about what he and Mikaela did (or couldn't do) in bed, instead of inadvertently falling into a very meaningful silence. I really felt for him when he was yelling at her, and for her too. Did Laurel feel safe confronting Denver, because she knew he wouldn't dare do anything to her, knowing who her father was? How are we already coming up on the season finale?!?!?!
  7. I enjoyed Despacito, but I can’t tell if it was because it was a more or less faithful cover of the song, or Kelly’s exuberance during the performance. I’d be interested in seeing what else he can do. (And I loved Kelly’s astonished “It’s only the number one hit worldwide!” to Blake) Kelly does bring a great new energy to all the other judges, and I like how people are now fearing Alicia instead of Blake. She does make amazing pitches. Christiana Danielle is definitely poised to win hearts and votes. I was weirdly charmed by her rapping mama, and how Christiana was just beaming with pride. I don’t have the musical sophistication to truly understand what she did vocally, but here’s hoping she doesn’t get tanked with the wrong song choice in the next few rounds. I like when Adam geeks out genuinely, as he did with Reid. I think Adam will do right by him, and he’ll stand out more than he will with Alicia. (It was funny to see that one moment of incredulity on Adam’s face when he was chosen. Like his begging schtick actually worked for once) Wish we could have seen more of Angel’s performance. Ukelele/Tiny Tim guy. I had Weird Al flashbacks, and "Riptide" is still playing on the radio. Why are the judges acting like he showed up with a theremin or glockenspiel? That being said, if he survives, I suspect Riptide and Somewhere over the Rainbow will be the songs he's given. But that's a big if. I am right there with the poster who said there was wayyyy too much time spent/information given about him sharing a bed with his brother. Funny we had two Berklee grad contestants—usually when they include that detail that means they’re a shoo-in. But Bob Marley-wannabe didn’t (he mangled that song!) while Munchkin did. I did give a start when she said she had won the Lollapalooza Scholarship, I misheard it at first as the Lollipop Guild Scholarship -- what a great callback to her singing start! But she might be cannon fodder, though. Austin Giorgio. Definite cannon fodder. He’s no Noah Mac. I may have been expecting greater things from all his cockiness. Do contestants get to hear coaches tell others that they’re the one they’re going to win with? I was struck how this episode had more personalized pitches—it’s cool that the coaches are at last ready to compete with one other when trying to get chosen. Ha--I wanted to hear a breakup singing telegram! Also, if they’re going to show us a no-chair turn audition, I want to hear more constructive critique from the coaches as to what could have made it better. I also like to hear from coaches for chair turns why they didn’t, even if it's a variation of “I’m looking for something specific for my team” or the very nice “I knew I didn’t have a chance when X turned, because X is the perfect coach for you.” Just make it worth not showing auditions that did get chair turns! Lastly, Johnny Bliss. He was a good choice to close out the evening. Didn’t know what he was singing, but I bought what he was selling. He seemed really personable after giving such a great, energetic performance. Humbled by the coaches standing for him. Glad he went with Alicia, since he was blocked from his top choice, Kelly. Even happier that he didn’t reward Adam for that dick move. I think Blake would have done right by him too. I’m excited to see more from him.
  8. Millenials: the 1896 edition. I thought that was unrealistic, although necessary for the storytelling. The class differential has been dramaticized over and over throughout the series. It was jarring to see someone who wasn't Sean Young or Moore's grandmother sound so entitled. Someone who's not born to privilege would probably appreciate the access they have to a better life than what we see of the non-moneyed class. Stevie, for example. Presumably Cyrus as well. That's a pretty cushy gig, and he gets to enjoy friendship with his employer. I did chuckle a bit when Lazlo said offhand that he had booted Mary out of her room so Cyrus could recover in it. What exactly did Cyrus's niece think he could do that would give him the same type of housing and benefits? Cyrus was put into danger the same way the Forensic Duo and Moore were. Lazlo may be all messed up, but he's always been shown as kind to Cyrus. With the exception of Mary, he shows kindness to people over whom he has authority. He's horrid to people of the same class--Moore, Sara. I thought it was telling that he slapped Sara, but not Cyrus' niece. The notion that Sara might be playing them all is an intriguing one, whether or not it is the case, it might be something Lazlo suspects and acts on (whether or not consciously). He does respect her intellect and more than probably she's tapped into his innate fear of women (as in the scene with his former client and Dominant--also intelligent and manipulative). Sara, Mary and Cyrus' niece are all women who are out of context in some way, in that they're employed, educated and at least in Sara and Mary's case, have some mental health backstory that suggests danger. When Lazlo tried to mansplain the music that was playing to Mary, he caught himself and said, "Oh right, but of course you know that." Maybe it's a link between his having played Chopin in the newspaper clipping Sara found, and now Mary's familiarity with the music he enjoys?
  9. https://enoughofthistomfoolery.wordpress.com/tag/marianne-skerrett/ In the episode "Sins of the Fathers", the cousin made a lot of money selling the story. It was implied that she didn't need fake Mrs Skerritt's help any more, as she was unconcerned that Nancy could lose her job at the Palace (and did for a good ten minutes). I don't think we ever see the cousin and child again. But this does bring up the interesting issue of Nancy knowing full well how she could lose everything if she becomes pregnant. For me, it takes away from that moment between her and Francatelli in "Comfort and Joy", knowing how much she has at stake.
  10. So true. Even the premise was just too easy for a show like SNL, and a lot of the lines were pretty cheap shots. The NRA parody was a lot more clever, and even if it didn't land perfectly, that's the sort of thing that the writing staff should be aiming for. (pun intended) This reminded me why I've never warmed to Melissa Villasenor on SNL. Most non-actor guests (who aren't hosting) tend to smile, maybe out of nerves or the sheer excitement of being in front of a live studio audience. It's something that's kinda charming and easy to give a pass for, because they're there to be who they are for the purposes of the sketch and not as a character that could be played by one of the cast members. That's actually how I realized it was really A-Rod. Melissa tends to smile in the same way in most if not all of her appearances on stage. It's hard to buy her as a cast member, and it's distracting. She really stood out on WU, and I thought she had a lot of on-air charisma. Cecily was great as Hope Hicks--that's exactly the kind of witty writing that was missing from the opener (despite the one or two good lines that others have already pointed out) ITA. That was Luke Null/New Kid in Classroom sketch potentially career-ending bad. Why was most of the dreck greenlit last night? The SW parody sketch wasn't great (Thanks, @HunterHunted!) but it was much better than most of the live sketches. Also agreed with the "someone didn't think this through"-itness of using suicide as a theme in the Hump of Dump. Without a payoff, it was offensive in how it was trivialized. Migos--I was mesmerized by the spinning disk one of the singers wore (I amuse easily) and the style and energy they brought to the stage, even I had no idea what they were singing about either.
  11. I also noticed the dirty fingernails on the boy buying an egg cream. That was a charming exchange between Moore and him. (Which boy was it, btw?) All of the boy actors have been disturbingly effective in their portrayals of jaded child prostitutes. It did present the child brothels like a plausible, relatively luxurious option for an orphan who would otherwise have to sleep in the gutter or a rat-infested tenement. Me too, but I thought her shocked stare was extremely realistic, and mirrored Mary's mute stare at Kreizler when he attended to her cut finger. (Although I would imagine the germs in his saliva could negate any coagulant properties...) Like several other posters, I was skeptical of DF at the beginning, and now she's made Sarah even more fascinating than Kreizler for me. I'm also confused about the timeline for the boy found at the base of the Statue of Liberty (thanks to the poster above who identified him as Rosie.) At first I thought the "Man of God' or whatever the suspicious dude running away on the rooftop called himself was let off too easily. After all, isn't the killer supposed to strike on Catholic holy days?
  12. From Dalton Ross' EW recap He goes on to guess Brendan's the lion, with Gonzalez setting a target squarely on his back.
  13. Another meaning for "dirty rice" but at least Jacob had cool taste in socks. Sasquatch FTW!
  14. True. And if she did have a TBI and not just a concussion, that would be a great thing for her to be an activist about, bringing awareness to people like me. (sorry about your brother, @SuburbanHangSuite) I'm cynical, though, because for that seems to be the sort of thing that Tyra would have seized upon and made part of Kyla's storyline.....we'll see if it comes up again, or if next week there's yet another condition we learn about that supposedly contributes to her inconsistency as a model.
  15. This. I think she even went further and called it a “traumatic brain injury”, when Rio is walking around with a literal scar running up the back of her head. My eyeroll was more pronounced than Jeana’s at that. I definitely agree that Rio is a hating hater who hates, but I’m sure there’s more to Kyla’s penchant for self-importance through OTT drama (which Rio also pointed out in a TH). We've been shown that Kyla has a major button about being called stupid—in the anti-bullying video she talked about her stuttering, and how people thought she was stupid because of it. And this episode it’s now her concussion (good call, @Token!) that’s led to her being thought of as “stupid”. She also strikes me as being extremely judgmental herself, but in a self-righteous way in that it props up her claiming to be an activist, or whatever makes her feel important. For example, her badgering Liberty, knowing that the majority of the house were cheering her on. Count me in as one of the people who see Kyla as resembling Sandra Bernhard, minus the wit and presence. Liking Krystyana more and more, and would be thrilled it she and Jeana were the final two. Not a fan of Kyla’s (in case it wasn’t obvious, lol) but based on strength of overall portfolio, possibly Rio with a redemption arc or Brendi could come in third. They're the ones who, like Kim, have the potential for active modeling careers. I’m also ok with ANTM launching Krystyana, since they also brought the deliciousness that is Nyle DeMarco onto my screen.
  16. Kaleb – Thank goodness we get a tearjerker backstory that’s a happy one! His son is adorable. That being said, the editing made it look (to me) like the judges were kinda meh while he was singing, but dramatically perked up when he sang about getting on his knees and finding Jesus. The Chairs turned around right after that. (I also cringed a bit when Kelly proclaimed that Jesus was telling Justin to pick her, but then laughed when she pretty much equated Adam with "Satan") It might be because he got the pimp spot, but I thought Justin was the standout of the evening. He had stage presence and seemed ready made for videos and cross-genre success if he chooses. I felt bad that Blake got blocked from getting him (and honestly, Adam does come off as a buffoon with his anti-Blake antics) but of them all, he probably did make the best choice. I had hoped to hear more from Justin directly (before Kelly cut him off excitedly) bur fingers crossed we’ll get the chance through the rest of the season. Kelly’s awesome pitch of “I’m about the longevity of the artist” had to sting the other coaches a bit—Alicia is too new to challenge that, and Adam’s main pitch is about Adam. Even his “you don’t even have to go with me, I’m just happy you can’t go with Blake” pretty much rules him out as a serious contender. So much for him being “strategical” (sic)! I enjoyed Kelly in this episode, but I also enjoyed Jennifer Hudson in the beginning too. I agree that a main difference is that Kelly doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously, plus-- wasn’t she a winner? So far it doesn't look like she’ll be reminding us of all her accomplishments, as Jennifer seemed compelled to do (and that did get old). And seriously...another 14 year old made it through?
  17. It was so in Albert's character! Surprised he hadn't also designed special festive costumes or accessories for people to wear (still thinking about his penchant for engineering better umbrellas and helmets). The kids are probably learning to equate Uncle Leopold with amazing experiences. Whenever he's there, there's a pony! (last episode) or lit-up trees indoors! I laughed when Little Vicky said how she recognized Duchess Grandma. For me, this episode seemed to illustrate events, and not really let us feel what the stakes or consequences were. It might be because so much was crammed into this double sized episode, and each character's story had to have a resolution. Uncle Hanover King's snit about his mother's diamond necklace was barely an issue, and very neatly tied up. BTW, are all the royals allowed to barge in whenever they want? Skerritt's out of the blue cliche inheritance and then her letting it all go--that was just too much to believe. How convenient for storytelling purposes that her entire inheritance consisted of slaves. Granted, since she no longer had to support Original Recipe Skerritt, maybe the urgent need for money wasn't there any more, but it wasn't painted as too much of a temptation. (Even with the object lesson of Penge's investment and dreams of bettering himself) Did I miss a callback to Albert's stance on slavery years/episodes ago when he was first trying to establish himself? I thought it was a dream sequence starting with Victoria wandering out looking for Sarah by herself. Has she ever been shown going outside without someone accompanying her? Even if she has, you'd think after the Scottish escapade they would have people on them whenever they go a-wandering, even if it's on palace grounds. I liked the Servant's Ball a lot. It's moments like that which play off the investment we've made in "downstairs" characters a lot.
  18. All the kid pictures of the cheftestants were adorable! I think it helped that they seem so fun to be around as adults. Wine bong? As soon as Carrie messed up the “oysters” challenge despite having (smartly) practiced for it, I felt her winning streak was over. Were they still at a very high altitude for the Quickfire? I may also be a little salty from Carrie edging out Chris by playing it safe last week, although she’s been impressive—toast default notwithstanding. I would have loved to see Chris for this Elimination challenge—he had already referenced his past generations of cooking. What a missed opportunity to have someone from his family cook a dish that’s helped shape him as a person and a chef! Wonder what Fatima’s family member would have made, and her “take” on it. I did hold my breath, nervous that one of the judges would say something critical in front of the family members. I'm not a Joestache hater. I loved how close the cheftestants were, in giving him hugs back in the house as he padded around in those bear slippers. While it was resourceful of him to use the little torch in an attempt to add some crispiness to the pasta edges, I did not like him blowing out the flames – this is why they have sneezeguards at salad bars……..
  19. I had the opposite reaction to Erin. She was honest, didn’t try to sugarcoat what she did and has regrets. We also don’t know all the circumstances, or whether it would have had worse repercussions had she been able to force herself to stay. (On a personal note, I’m watching a loved one disintegrate after the illness and subsequent death of a family member) Krystyana’s revelations made the constant play of Brendi and Christina’s whining seem obscene. I’m not disregarding that what Brendi and Christina feel is valid and true for them, but I’m hoping now we’ll no longer be subjected to Brendi crying over her lack of self confidence every single gorram episode (cough, editors, cough). I also have a sour taste in my mouth about Kyla since the Pride episode, and roll my eyes every time she brags about being an activist. I did think the PSA she did about stuttering was super-effective. That video was clearly the best of the three—testimonials and an uplifting message that everyone can relate to. Tyra’s photoshoot was pretty cool. I agree with everyone upthread who called shenanigans on Erin’s photo. It clearly made a difference to have Tyra give them actual feedback during the shoot, as opposed to the usual vague screeching of “MORE HIGH FASHION!” or the like. Rooting for a final two of Krystyana and Jeana, but I’m sure that they will both be successful regardless of who actually takes the title. Coincidentally they’re also the ones who seem to handle their personal shit…personally, and yet still extend themselves to lending support to others.
  20. I also see kindness established as part of the Duchess’ character, as long as the outward mores of propriety are adhered to. She might have had more of an issue if Drummond had broken off his engagement. It didn’t strike me as an anachronistic attitude, since we also saw the very homoerotic men’s –only bathing scene in a previous episode. I know the Duchess wasn’t there, but the fact that it happened and was seen as acceptable (just not flaunted) behavior among gentlemen speaks to a more accommodating attitude among the upper classes. Not sure if they were also drawing a parallel to Ernst and Harriet, since their relationship seemed almost like an open secret. Even though I found Lehzen’s departure sad, I’m Team Albert. Even if he doesn’t have the experience of Lehzen, the show has gone out of their way to show how involved he is with his children, as in the scene with him talking with Little Vicky in German. I think she called for him when her fever broke and she became alert again. He has been shown as the type to make himself an expert on anything scientific (Plumbing? Math? Trains? Umbrella and hat design? and so on) that capture his interest. I could see him as being similarly attentive to all the current theories of child-rearing and pediatric health, and it was telling that he had spoken with the doctor before Victoria did. I get what Lehzen means to Victoria, but I agree that Lehzen seem to use it to lord over Alfred and everyone else. She would be visibly annoyed whenever reminded of her place. Alfred put up with a lot of her smug attitude towards him until it threatened to compromise his children’s wellbeing.
  21. This. So much this. It's sad to see people using "wokeness" as a form of moral superiority, or as in this case, license to bully rather than enlighten. It did seem like everyone that claimed to be an activist (it takes more than just having a non-mainstream opinion to be an activist, imho) did poorly on the runway because-- I do wish we got more commentary on what specifically sucked about the walks that made Law cringe. It's meaningless to tell us that something's missing about Kyla so she hasn't had her breakthrough moment yet. (I'm sure that he went on to say more, but what an obvious statement for the editors to choose to show us.) Take some air time away from Brendi and Christina, please! Kyla hasn't stood out at all to me, unlike Liberty who actually won at least one FCO. Same with Drew. At this point it seems girls have to read his mind to give him exactly what his vague exclamations mean. Are they saving Brendi and Christina for a very special episode on bullying? On a more pleasant note, it was absolutely brilliant to have them do shoots alongside drag queen fierceness. Those ladies know their angles and how to bring high fashion, or whatever Drew kept screeching at the hamsters. I’m not familiar with the three Queens, but it was really cute how Jeana was so thrilled with getting to meet her favorite aside from RuPaul. And some of the really nice compliments the drag queens had to say about the girls were heartwarming. I hope the girls got to learn from them -- it seemed Liberty did.
  22. Lol, I came on to find out who he is. I was wondering that too. Following last week's episode--even though this was Scotland-- it was poignant how that couple that had so little would still share so much. It was super realistic how Victoria would instantly take the best vacant seat without being invited (and the older man grousing about it) but be utterly charmed by the very simple way of life. As much as she loves her children, being alone with Albert much as the couple were growing old together in isolation must have been a romantic ideal.
  23. I'm tempted to get one, and I am far from Trixie's age...lol..http://www.teefury.com/sushi-hug Somebody make this show happen. It can be the new Buffy! I liked the episode, but the best part BY FAR was Trixie in training.
  24. That....was not a good look. Did she say anything of substance during the "advantage"? Probably the only useful advice was from Tyra to Liberty that her downward drooping mouth was editorial when it wasn't smiling. When Kyla showed up, I didn't remember seeing her before. Good news, she's drama free. Bad news, she's not standing out otherwise. Oh Rio. I was rooting for you. We were ALL rooting for you! Jeana seems to be the housemom--she's in a lot of shots checking up on or consoling another hamster. It's ridiculous to give people critiques like, "don't let the other models smoosh you." I'm guessing they tried with Christina, who really should have gone home instead of Coura. Then again, this challenge was so reliant on the middle and top model cooperating that unless Christina was on the bottom they were SOL. (And speaking of bottoms, a little TMI, Law.....) I like the fact that they're showing moments from earlier episodes for the commercials--it really highlights how the Ty-overs have helped most of the models. Although Sha-nasty's sheer force of personality has overcome her lack of Ty-over two episodes in a row. Thanks @Jobiska for looking up the chicken cutlets. It's sad that I went "gross!" for a split second, and then shrugged it off as entirely plausible for this show?
  25. Well, that was a roller coaster ride. One of my issues with Crystal was my inability to buy her as being in love with Blake. So that last scene with her was more surprising in that it took so long to finally happen. Well done show! Glad they finally showed Crystal’s PR background in her handling of Steven’s political launch. She also looked lovely with her upswept hair and pink dress during that interview scene—that Crystal is every bit the boss that we’ve been told she’s supposed to be. I also liked the friendship and mutual respect between her and Steven. (Loved the laughter that greeted his announcement—it mirrored my own last week) So Steven and Sammy Jo aren’t an item? I also like Sammy Jo throwing himself into his new job. Of course he would excel at setting up the private room for Fallon and Monica. I am liking the character more and more. “I need this job for my self-esteem!” Culhane. Awwww. Love that character too. His admission to Fallon was awesome. And his appearance in nothing but a towel doesn’t hurt, either. Anders, taking care of business! Except the Cecil Colby set-up doesn’t make sense the day before a parole hearing. Hope that Police Commissioner Colby cousin stays morally upright and doesn’t end up dating Culhane, although she’s already way more interesting than Monica. Fallon, really felt for her in trusting Monica. I think Monica is supposed to seem a lot more duplicitous than the actress is able to portray. Or emotional. Or something. She’s planning this huge doublecross of Fallon, so that was a weirdly understated reaction to being gifted with a nightclub. Wardrobe-wise—Is Jeff Colby meant to be the Krystal Carrington (original recipe) in terms of wardrobe? And Monica, I think even Cookie Lyon wouldn’t wear a gold lame outfit to a family member’s parole hearing. Steven cleans up nice though, for interviews. And I loved Sammy Jo’s work outfit. It would be great if he and Fallon do become BFFs. She needs someone other than Culhane watching out for her.
