  1. This. Plus everything else in your post. It's hard to believe in the high stakes they're trying to set up--literal life or death! the survival of a civilization! the rightful ruler of a kingdom! --when the main characters keep trivializing their primary concerns to getting their mack on a dudebro, getting their mack on a drug dealer, having a fight about how to improve their marriage (a few feet away from their cousin's corpse), and shoplifting or breaking and entering for spiffy new outfits. At least Karnak's not pining after pot-growing chick. She probably wandered offscreen to die of sepsis after patching up her bullet wound with her little sewing kit. I missed what happened with Lava-hands and Flora. Plus lots of Lockjaw! And the cool re-introduction of Triton (as opposed to the glimpse we had of him at the premiere, where the blonde girl seemed she would have been better off without his intervention.) So basically if Black Bolt had died, Triton would still be swimming laps off the coast of Oahu? And by the way, Maximus. You might want to make public the fact that your death would trigger the destruction of the dome before attempts are made on your life. Everyone was sure lucky you weren't taken out by a sniper. We finally got Auron's motivation and it's something along the lines of "it's so cute how much you can accomplish as a human"? That's what it takes for her to rebel against Black Bolt and be among the first to switch her allegiance to Maximus? It seems the more powerful the female Inhumans are, the dumber they're written to be.
  2. Me too. I was bracing myself for that. So relieved when the phrase was finally used at the press conference! I didn't suspect the spy cam either. Asher's character has really developed so the goofiness is the first thing anyone sees (of course he would show up with a stuffed bear!). And then we're reminded that there's a darker undercurrent always present-- makes the shock reveal of the spy cam still totally logical. I thought immediately of how they showed his violent temper the first time he was at Caplan & Gold, and then his showing up unexpectedly at Michaela's desk to meet Tegan. Love how the puzzle pieces are coming together. Kudos to the actor for pulling that off. I enjoyed that too. Had they ever shared how both used sex as a way to anesthetize pain? It was a great evolution of Connor's character as well, since Annalise had noted his ease with clients before. Although I still miss his beard.
  3. I also wondered about Sammy Jo at the beginning, and I enjoyed Cristal's urging Blake to forge better relationships with his kids (even the one who's deliciously awful to her). BUT--I had a huge problem with Cristal's inability to get the money to her sister. I get that she's freaked out about Anders being all up in her biz, but seriously, if you find out that you've got a Black Card now with a husband who is telling you to enjoy using it, $10K plus 30% isn't that big a deal to pull out as a cash advance. Steven had a fat wad of bills that Sammy Jo stole from without Steven being all the wiser. If Anders "red-flagged" it to Blake, Cristal could easily say she wanted to have cash handy for occasions where a Black Card is just too extra....like hanging out with her more down to earth girlfriends. This Cristal reboot is already way more interesting than the original, but I hope they decide one way or another if she's consistently bad-ass (as in the cemetery showdown with Fallon last episode) or if she's just going to be the recipient of Anders' and Fallon's put-downs. I'm still not seeing why Blake fell so madly in love with her, or even how she's COO-material. It's way more believable why people are drawn to Fallon, and the show's amply demonstrated her business savvy. Cristal, not so much. Yes, and an homage to the original treatment of the logo too! Hoping it's given a chance. Georgia--especially Atlanta--has become the new hotbed for the tv/film industry so maybe they're already doing a lot for very little. I didn't check, but are they using the same stylist and music person as in Gossip Girl? I'm enjoying the fashion porn, and it was a great lineup of 80s music (and covers) tonight!
  4. I never hated Fitz, but this episode was great in underscoring why I should. I loved Marcus' confrontation with Fitz, and even though it was telegraphed that Marcus would come back (and that Fitz would end up lending his presidential support to the freezing activist at the base of General Cyst (really?) ) it felt very satisfying. This series needed to end with Fitz getting told, at least in a way where his character could actually look like there was a possibility of evolving...at last. Yeah, I kept wondering where the Secret Service guy was for the first minute of the fight, although it was already implausible that Marcus would even have threatened Fitz with physical harm. But they had to close out the arc of Marcus becoming his running buddy, drinking buddy to dudebro he's exchanged punches with. Then again, almost everything in tonight's episode was a lot more plausible than things like Abby becoming Chief of Staff. At least Fitz never fumbled Marcus' name. Me too. Unfortunately it wasn't the only unintentional piece of comedy. When Fitz said "we brought something for you' to the activist I was expecting blankets, camp heater, food, thermos of hot water, etc. to appear out of the motorcade. How about all those roast turkeys that he perfected? And then he presents a pair of dinky gloves. Well at least we know now he didn't wait that long outside Olivia's door.
  5. So Ex-Girlfriend Almost-Vet tells you that your huge dog -- the one that just had an ATV ram into it-- needs more rest and your response is to make it do something that we were told is really draining? Crystal can go frak herself. I hope we find out, too. Because basically Crystal is treating Lockjaw the way Maximus, then Medusa, are treating Locus. Lockjaw still remains my favorite part of this show. I watched this episode with my little plush Lockjaw! I didn't know that she had elemental powers until it was finally clarified in this episode. It seemed almost random when she would make finger gestures like someone out of Charmed. There were so many opportunities for her to have used her powers earlier, but....plot reasons. (And wouldn't control of the elements make her the most powerful Inhuman?) Locus was the first to explain why an Inhuman would choose to follow Maximus. We were shown that Mordis was promised freedom. But what's Auron's motive? 5 eps in, and I still don't have any idea. I think they're trying to show that she's starting to question Maximus, but it would be stronger if we knew why she had turned on BB to begin with. And now with her second back-from-the dead scene and flat affect she's the Terminator of the show. Speaking of Mordis, why would he be scared by Auron's threatening to kill him? Shouldn't she be scared in case he decided to take her out? I get that every Royal Family member has been paired up with a human (or humans in the case of Gorgon) who are supposed to give them a radically different perspective that might finally allow us to root for them, but yowza, what a long slog to get to this point.
  6. I had been looking forward to this ever since LAB talked about it at a DragonCon Panel as one of her favorite episodes. It lived up to the hype! So much fun--LAB really sells the character so it's not one-note, which in the hands of a lesser actor it could be. Loved her clothes too--from the black and white mottled motorcycle jacket to the purloined camo parka. This Maze-centric episode demonstrates the writing and performances are such that the relationships between the characters have truly become the heart of the show, and not just resting on Tom Ellis's more than capable shoulders. The interaction between Trixie and Maze was EVERYTHING!!!! Is Miss Alien a thing, or was she created for this show? I shared Trixie's glee when it came back bloodstained, lol! I also liked the casting of Rivers. I'm not familiar with the actor, nor did I find him an obvious challenge to Lucy's role as Mr. Seduction, which allowed for his charisma to unfurl itself through his interactions with Maze. It's great that his charm is (so far) human and not supernatural in origin -- it's a more interesting story as Maze starts realizing how much human individuals mean to her. I'm glad they left the door open for his character to come back. I like Dan's evolution as a character, and also enjoyed the respite from Pierce and Pierce's treatment of Dan.
  7. If only they would let her character stay formidable. Star keeps mouthing off, because....Star, and Michael Michele takes it....why? If Star were to pull those shenanigans in front of Cookie Lyon, the girl would be a smear on the sidewalk under Cookie's Louboutins in a hot minute. In this most recent episode, Star publicly assaults a new employee in front of Michael Michele, resulting in the employee wearing a neck brace YET....no repercussions. It just makes MM's character seem...weak. I'm starting to give up hope for growth or even potential for depth in Star's character; the "STAR ACTING OUT" show is getting increasingly unpleasant to watch. Am I the only one rooting against her? I'm hoping that they bring back Cotton's fabulousness, and more Miss Bruce please! Simone is absolutely gorgeous--I agree with whoever said she'd be a better lead for the show. But soon even Queen Latifah's everlasting awesomeness isn't going to be enough to keep my tv turned on after Empire.
  8. ITA! I like him best when he's dueting with someone else (my fave JS song still is "Powerful" with Alicia Keys.) Warren was killing it as a singer, and his acting chops aren't too shabby either! On a completely shallow note, the tiger stripe confection that Cookie was wearing during the competition was stunning.
  9. I was also surprised by the "twist" at the end, and hope that Kai is being played. But since Kai was in it all along, I wonder what it means that he's caught Winter flat out lying to him about the SCUM pamphlet he found in her room? I'm kind of rooting for her, or at least for her not to have a grisly fate. I had forgotten that Lena Dunham was going to appear in AHS, so it was pretty cool to first get the character revealed as Valerie Solanas and then recognize LD in the role. I thought she did a good job, but the MVP was definitely EP as Andy Warhol. The way he moved, the speech patterns, and hair/makeup/styling--awesome!
  10. Thank you for posting this! I keep watching, fascinated by how much potential is squandered. The actors clearly put more work and thought into the execution of their roles than what comes through on the screen. Shame they've been hampered with poor writing and production values. Still hoping that the show finds its way (coughs--changes showrunner--coughs) and it's not a one-and-done series.
