  1. When was the last time we saw Lore? Was it in season 7's "Descent, Part II?"
  2. I miss this show, so I made an "inspired by" playlist that includes some of the songs played in the episode outros.
  3. Just watched this, and I absolutely loved it. I adored Knives Out, and this is a more than worthy sequel. Some of my favorites "I hired Gillian Flynn to write this." "Oh, she's quite good." "If I ever meet Jared Leto, I'll whoop his kombucha-brewin' ass." "It's so dumb it's brilliant." "No, it's just dumb!"
  4. I remember being so captivated by that episode when I first watched it. Even all these years later, I still am.
  5. Oh, apologies. I'm not sure what the timeline is for the new season airing on PBS.
  6. Some scattered thoughts after rewatching the finale. *Maura's father is a shit parent and an even shittier grandparent. *Someone, please give poor Elliott a hug. *Love the creepiness of the ship archive. *Maura and Eyk's reunion - and the faces of the other passengers witnessing it - will always delight me. Felt bad for her when Sebastien "turned off" Eyk. She and Eyk really did hold onto each other across this nightmare like their lives depended on it. *I was tracking who was ending up in whose memory landscapes: Maura + Eyk ended up in Tove's; Mrs. Wilson and Tove ended up in Jerome's. Clemence and Jerome ended up in Ling Yi, and Ling Yi and Ramiro ended up in Maura's - and then Ramiro's(?) *I found it interesting that Maura said that she feels nothing when she sees pictures of her and Elliott. *So, all the main characters were in the spaceship pods at the end - EXCEPT Daniel, Elliot, Sebastien, and Henry. That was my assumption, but sadly, the creators of the show confirmed on their Instagram that the show has not been renewed for a second season. I'm bummed because I really loved this show and wished the creators had gotten a second season to elaborate on the story.
  7. Last year, the new season 11 became available on BritBox in April or May. I'm assuming it'll be a similar timeline this year.
  8. This is my second favorite episode of the season after “The Calling.” Maura and Daniel’s discussion about the nature of reality reminded me of a lot of other sci-fi I watched. Specifically, this scene made me think of Star Trek Deep Space Nine’s “Far Beyond the Stars” episode, which ends with Capt. Sisko wondering if he and the rest of the show's characters are the fantasy of a 1950’s sci-fi writer. Come to think of it, the whole ship is reminding me of a malfunctioning holodeck-lol More surreal visuals – from Daniel roaming through other people’s memory landscapes to the latest iteration of the Kerberos moving into the archive. Olek just blurting out “Fucking hell” could be another tagline for this show! The death scenes killed me. Olek getting swept into the ocean, Franz sacrificing himself to save Tove. Hell, I even felt bad for Iben when she and Anker were overtaken by the water. And Angel dying in his lover Ramiro’s arms :::sob::: I know it’s just a simulation, but I’ve lived with these characters for the past 7 episodes, and I’m invested dammit! Those black stalactite-looking things slowly taking over the ship are creepy as hell. I’m still here for the end-of-episode needle drops.
  9. I loved the Christmas special. The story was compelling, and the guest cast was superb, especially the actor that played Marvin (Hakeem Kae-Kazim). And this episode made me excited for season 12!
  10. Disappointed to see the show get canceled. Loved it and was looking forward to season 2. I'll be looking out for whatever Bo and Jantje do next.
  11. Great team-ups in this episode! My favorite might be Tove and Clémence. So ironic that Clémence views Tove as someone who’s strong and free. Given what we saw of Tove’s flashback, I’m not sure that’s true – at least not the free part. That flashback was so hard to watch. I’m not sure we needed to see Tove being raped to drive home what happened to her. Ramiro’s scene with Anker was beautiful – despite neither man understanding the other! Anker, an actual priest, confesses his sins to Ramiro, who’s not a priest-lol I do love that the characters have found ways to convey what they mean, in spite of the language barrier. Of course, I loved all things Maura and Eyk – especially their little almost kiss. Damn show, I haven’t seen this many longing looks and touches since season 2 of Bridgerton! Ángel had my favorite line of the episode: “I don’t like this one bit.” Ha! That could be the tagline of this show. I find it fascinating that Lucien thinks his seizures are punishment for his betrayal of Jérôme.
  12. Pelé, the Global Face of Soccer, Dies at 82 (NY Times Obituary)
  13. Continuing my rewatch. This episode had some great visuals. Time stopping in the dining hall was eye popping. And the wide shot of people hurling themselves overboard still messes me up. Also - The Boy speaks! I figured he was going to stay silent till the end of the season. Ramiro running to find Ángel to make sure he wasn't among those walking to their deaths was heart pounding. And Ángel looks so broken; I loved Ramiro holding him until The Calling was over. I do wonder why Ángel - and most of the main cast - was not affected by the tick-tock sound. The way Jérôme and Clémence look at each other, it's no wonder Lucien gets salty. Speaking of which... Daniel always looks at Eyk like he wants to punch him. And that just makes me laugh.
  14. The crew member with the mustache that looks kinda like Adam Driver.
  15. Class has shown up in some interesting ways in the show. Lucien, for instance, betrays Jerome to be a different - presumably wealthier man. And similarly, Ling Yi ended up killing Mei Mei in order to take her place and improve her circumstances. Both Lucien and Ling Yi get more than they bargained for and both have concluded that they're being punished for their choices. Then there's the class conflict that comes through in the mutiny. The folks from steerage - led by Tove and Franz - are the ones who initiate the mutiny. And once Iben starts hunting for The Boy, the mutineers just barge into the rooms in first class, which is a big turning of the tables.
  16. Iben deciding that The Boy needed to die because he was the cause of deaths on board is a textbook example of how humans, when faced with horrific trauma, will sometimes reach for any explanation to make sense of it. And that usually doesn't end well. It was good to see Tove try to stop Krester from revealing that people started dying after The Boy arrived. She clearly realizes what a dangerous fanatic her mother is. Krester, on the other hand, will do anything for his mother's love and approval. So far, Olek and Jerome are coming across as the most selfless characters. They seem to always be trying to do the right thing. At one point, Lucien says to Clemence "Life hurts," which is the exact thing Yuk Je said to Ling Yi in the last episode. Which shores up my theory about the punchline of this show. Speaking of Lucien, he's clearly haunted by what he did to leave the army. Whatever good life he got out of that choice doesn't seem to make up for how miserable he seems to be.
  17. The old doctor doesn't know what happened to poor little Ada, so he chooses to engage in some sexism...and then eugenics. WTF! Franz endeared me when he told Tove and her family about Ada dying. It's also interesting that he seems to move ahead with the mutiny after seeing their family's suffering. Eyk & Maura! The conversation on their ride to the Prometheus is poignant. Angel is still messy. Why did he cheat on poor Ramiro? *smh* Finally, I really want someone to give Wilhelm a hug. He has been anxious since episode 1.
  18. Why am I digging Parker in this outfit 😄
  19. Still in shock about the death of Grant Wahl. When I was getting into to soccer a decade ago, he was one of my favorite writers to read (his book, The Beckham Experiment is excellent and still one of my favorite soccer books) Remembering Grant Wahl, a Champion of American Soccer Grant Wahl: A charming, kind and talented journalist
  20. Seeing the screens at the end reminded me of the Star Trek: TNG episode "Frame of Mind," where Riker is in a play, portraying a character in a mental institution, but then ends up institutionalized for real. Maura telling The Boy that story about her father leaving her outside alone all night as a child - to see what she's made of - what a shitty father. RIP, Ada. You sort of knew she wasn't long for this world, but it was still upsetting to see Franz come upon her dead body. From the Frick & Frack Files: "What normally kills people? Other people" - too real! Boy, Daniel sure seems pissed every time he looks at Eyk. Tove promising to castrate Angel if he came near Krester - whew! Even though Angel doesn't speak a word of Danish, I'm sure he got hte message. I've read some reviews of this show that criticize the needles drops at the end of the episodes, but I love them! ETA: Those welts on Ángel's back are driving me nuts. My theory is that Ángel got caught canoodling with someone he shouldn't have been, and he was getting flogged (by priest?) because of it. Ramiro interrupted the beating, accidentally killed the priest and then they escaped. I just know that those marks are bothering me-lol
  21. Started my rewatch. Frick and Frack shoveling coal in the engine room crack me up. Eyk & Maura drew me in from minute 1. The little half smile he gives her when she challenges him on who made the rules about where passengers could and couldn't go, was so sweet Angel seemed immediately intrigued by Krester when K burst into the dining room. So delighted by that one sailor - I think his name is Eugen - who was like 1) we need to take a priest with us, and 2) even with a priest, I ain't going to the Prometheus. I feel you, bro.
  22. I'm usually meh on content from Collider.com, but this piece - Syril and Dedra's Relationship on 'Andor' Isn't About Love - is the best thing I've read on the Dedra/Syril connection as it played out in season 1. The concluding paragraph articulates how I've been feeling about the dynamic between these two: That's what I see when they interact, particularly their interaction in the finale when he rescues her from the crowd on Ferrix.
  23. And accurate. Tuned into the World Cup tonight show and wondered why on earth Chad Ochocinco was involved in Fox's WC coverage. How much longer does Fox have the US broadcast rights?
