  1. Continuing the season on BritBox I was surprised by how much Selwyn's storyline with his daughter, Andrina, moved me. Good work from both actors. Loved the cliffhanger at the end of episode 6. Inspector-is-now-the-accused is an old trope, but I'm curious to see the dynamics it throws up for this set of characters.
  2. Inside episode 5. Interesting to see how they shot the scene where the infected come up out of the ground.
  3. I'm guessing that plot will get picked up in a future episode.
  4. Those lines chilled me to the bone. She was so consumed by hatred and desire for revenge that she found herself basically shrugging at the prospect of Sam's death. For me, Kathleen embodies what happens when the resistance mimics the mindset, power dynamics, and tactics of the regime they're fighting against.
  5. Kathleen just had to stop Henry, Sam, and Ellie. Her quest for vengeance ultimately did her in. My heart hurt for Henry and Sam (loved Lamar Johnson's performance as Henry). I gotta stop getting attached to characters on this show not named Joel and Ellie.
  6. I loved that the last episode focused on Naomi. Shantol Jackson is really coming into her own on this show. Plus, she is drop dead gorgeous! She looks stunning in every single frame! I'm really enjoying the team this season. Feels like they've really gelled.
  7. They had great chemistry! Kathleen and Michael were a trip together. Also, since I just started watching The Good Place, I was delighted to see Jameela Jamil pop up in this. Loved the twist of the younger actress, Rebecca, figuring out the mystery before Charlie. Always a delight to see Chris McKinney (Phil, the lighting guy). This show continues to delight.
  8. I grew up watching Benson, so I found Gavin's fanning out on it just delightful.
  9. So sad that we lost Annie Wersching. Before she came to this show I enjoyed her immensely on short-lived (but very good) NBC series Timeless. May she rest in peace, and may her family be comforted in their grief.
  10. I think Joel took that message from Bill about men like them being there to protect to heart* Even if he hasn't admitted it to himself, he wants to protect Ellie because he feels he failed to do that with Sarah and Tess. It's why he keeps trying to distance himself from having any kind of warm feelings toward Ellie. He seems terrified of failing to protect her. I loved the scene where he says it's unfair Ellie has to deal with killing people. He seems genuinely heartbroken that she can't just be a child. And I agree with those who've said that he's projecting his feelings about Sarah onto Ellie. *This isn't something I agree with. I think life is too complicated to split people into protectors vs. those that need to be protected.
  11. Gripping episode. The tension on this show is constant. Even when Joel and Ellie are in moments of relative ease, I'm waiting for something to pop off. Loved Ellie's book of silly jokes. And I laughed right along with her and Joel at that goofy diarrhea joke. Kathleen and her group are proper terrifying.
  12. I didn't expect the season 4 finale to end on a cliffhanger. I guess the writers didn't expect the show to be canceled. Oh well. In my head canon, Trudy disarmed that crooked insurance doctor and shot her just to incapacitate her until the police arrive 🙂
  13. He was great in this episode! And I liked the "Can't Un-murder Somebody" song 🤣
  14. Didn't know how much I needed Judith Light and S. Epatha Merkerson to team up, but now I want more of it!
  15. Season 12 starts streaming on BritBox February 3.
  16. A character like Ellie would usually annoy me, but Bella Ramsey is doing a good job of portraying the character as alternately impetuous, insolent, childlike, fearful. I'm enjoying seeing her relationship with Joel evolve.
  17. Hildegard is probably my favorite of Sydney's partners. And I loved that she had enough self respect to be like "Nope!" when she found out he had slept with someone else. I never got into him and Amanda. I thought she was fine as a character, but just didn't see the chemistry between her and Sydney.
  18. I laughed at the Burn Notice mention. Natasha Lyonne is great in this.
  19. I wasn't prepared for the heartbreak of this episode. What a beautiful, tender love story. Just watching Bill and Frank take joy in the simplest of things like tasting strawberries was lovely. I said last week that this show stresses me out. I didn't expect it to make me cry as well. The losses keep piling up on poor Joel. Damn.
  20. Trailer for season 12 (hope it plays) https://www.britbox.com/us/episode/Coming_Soon_S1_E2_p0dmyy5q?autoplay=true Also, this came in my BritBox newsletter
  21. This show stresses me out. That is all.
  22. Discovered this show a couple of weeks ago on the PBS app, and I'm loving it. Already on season 3. Disappointed that the show was canceled, as it was a great cozy mystery and one of the few fronted by an ensemble of women. Still, gonna enjoy all the seasons we got. ETA: Grace Lynn Kung, who played Wendy Quon on this show, is now in a new series called Wong & Winchester, which looks like a quasi cozy mystery but set in the present day. Hoping we can eventually see it here in the US.
  23. Discovered this series while watching other cozy mysteries on Acorn, and I really like it! Essie Davis is great as Phryne, and I love the chemistry Phryne and Jack have. The supporting characters - particularly Dot - are also a lot of fun.
