Today I watched the episode where Steve throws the "rave" at the Peach Pit. I always find it hilarious that there is a long line of people actually waving their fliers and money, begging to be let in. Really? Nothing else going on in town that night? Also, Andrea wears two particularly matronly outfits this episode. On the first night she is supposed to go out on the town with Jesse (but the sitter cancels), and it looks like she's wearing a band uniform shirt. The next night she finally gets to go to the Peach Pit rave, and she chooses....wait for it.....a pinstripe blazer with shoulder pads. Wardrobe must've been mad at Gabrielle that week.

Agreed Donna looked good in season 4; her clothes are pretty normal too. I also think she looked good in season 10. The red hair was flattering and her wardrobe toned down a little compared to previous years. I don't think her buttcheeks made a single appearance that season!

S03.E04: Sex, Lies And Volleyball / Photo Fini

Donna and her tart reminded me that she is not the only one who has had weird food scenes. I noticed one with Brenda in season 4....they are getting ready to leave on a ski trip and Brenda is eating out of a peanut butter jar with her finger (enjoy my germs, family!) She gets a call from Donna, and keeps picking at it during the phone call. But the best part is when they grab their bags and head out the door, and off she goes with the open jar of peanut butter STILL in her hand. I'm guessing Shannen just forgot to put it down, but it's funny to see her just walk off with it. I guess poor Jim and Cindy won't be having any pb&j while the kids are gone. -

Brenda/Shannen really does look her best in the Paris eps. Amazing hair, perfect makeup, and most of her outfits are super cute too. Dana Barron (Nikki) barely aged between the time she was in Vacation and appeared here, despite it being like 10 years. Funny that she was older but still looked more like a teenager than the rest of the gang. Yeah it's a tough call between which song is more odious, "Be My Love" or "Precious to Me." I'm gonna have to give it to Be My Love just for the awful faces he makes while singing it when he performs it at the beach club. -
I'm sure they know who she is; it seemed more like they were just surprised she was coming, like they hadn't heard yet. Agree that Korin seemed ready to go, and how awful to have to stand there while Carson rattled on about her mistakes. He meant well but yeah, that was a bit rough. I think Brayden seems like a sweet kid. He knows he's not going to win but he is enjoying himself and clearly appreciates the experience. He has moments where he sounds good but I think his (or whoever picks them) song choices have been bad. Gwen's shirt looked like ocean debris caught in a fishing net.

I have no problem with Justin and Diana. He just seems like an extroverted, kinda loud New Yorker guy to me. He clearly gets excited while doing the race (especially when they are in the lead), but it doesn't strike me as a calculated performance to show off. I imagine he's like that in other situations too. Perhaps all her nice moments were edited out, but Logan seemed especially nasty this episode. Even in small moments when she could have easily shut up she took time to fire off rude comments. It must be tiring being that upset all the time.

Today I watched the episode where they start senior year, where Nikki is featured quite a bit. Afterward I was flipping through channels and the movie Vacation is on, in which Dana Barron (Nikki) plays Audrey. So funny to see her back to back like that. I had to look up the dates and do some math...Vacation was 1983 and she was about 17. Her appearance on 90210 was 1993, putting her at 27, playing a freshman. (Or was she a sophomore? I know she had a senior buddy like the freshmen but maybe it's just because she was new to the school?) Anyway I guess she fit right in with Steve and Dylan and Andrea and all the other old high school students. :) But to her credit she still looked like a teenager.

I'm not sure why Steve said it, but Luke Perry cracks a huge smile right afterward. Looks like he's about to start laughing, so maybe it was an unexpected ad lib. I love easy breezy Dylan.

S02.E21: Everybody's Talking 'Bout It
desertflower replied to Primetimer's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
Pop channel just showed this today so of course I had to watch it. I saw our old friend Mr. Boom Mike not once, but twice during Felice's speech at the parent's meeting. Despite his fluff mullet John was kind of cute and they should've kept him around as Andrea's boyfriend for a bit instead of sending him into the abyss of forgotten characters. -
Gilmore Goods: The clothing and home decor of The Gilmore Girls
desertflower replied to FozzyBear's topic in Gilmore Girls
Yeah, nobody is THAT insistent on someone taking off their coat. And she takes EVERYTHING to the dry cleaner? Really? How about some pajama pants? They would've been better than those shorts. Overall Lorelai looked great IMO, with the occasional misstep. (I agree the shiny top at her parent's vow renewal was bad!) But in general I'd be happy with her wardrobe! Rory had some really cute outfits at the end of college, too. Wonder if they got to keep any of the clothes? -

So, I finally finished the whole series. I had seen 1-5 in the original run and for some reason only saw 6 and 7 in bits and pieces. I had never seen the finale and was dreading it a little because I've seen so many people say they hated it. And you know what, I actually loved it! I don't like every storyline they did in the last season but I think in general they did a pretty good job of keeping the right vibe of the show. I loved Luke and Lorelai's big scene and thought it was done well. And I may have cried several times. :) My only complaint is that Richard and Rory didn't have a special goodbye scene just between the two of them. But at least he had a nice moment with Lorelai. So anyway I guess my UO is that I thought the ending was pretty darn good. -
Mistakes, Bloopers, ETC in the Gilmore Girls
desertflower replied to AlinaRay's topic in Gilmore Girls
I don't think this is necessarily a mistake, but it's a funny little detail that I noticed. When Logan comes to see Rory at Mia's wedding, and he's waiting by the car, she comes out carrying a piece of cake. He thinks she brought it for him and she says she didn't and eats it while they talk. But what's funny is it's the most miniscule remnant of cake ever. I don't know why I noticed it but it actually distracted me a little from the scene because it was such a sad little piece. Lol. The only thing I can figure is at the end of the scene she says "I almost feel bad for not saving you a bite" and eats the last bite. So I guess they could only give her a tiny bit to eat so she could finish it within the scene. So I get it, but it's still kind of funny to me though. -
Yep, SoupThrower, Mark is the one who got pissy about the surprise party. That's when they first started making it clear he wasn't the perfect guy Kelly thought he was.
-
Mark started out ok; he did work at the tv station. Kelly liked him and said he was almost like a combination of Dylan and Brandon. But then he got weird and had anger issues. (Kind of out of the blue.) He and Brandon competed for the same fellowship/scholarship/whatever it was and when he lost Mark blew up. Kelly broke up with him and the next thing you know dude transferred schools and moved away. They clearly just hastily wrote him off the show. I remember reading an interview with one of the writers and he said Jennie didn't like the actor so they got rid of him. I don't know how true that is but it's obvious they wanted him off because his character deteriorated so quickly. Another thing I remember about Mark...he lived in the house up in the hills and when a forest fire was coming the gang helped him hose down the house. That was probably the same time Donna wandered off and saved the baby deer.

S02.E18: A Walsh Family Christmas
desertflower replied to Primetimer's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
Oh, Donna's buttcheeks. We used to joke on the old TWOP board that her buttcheeks should've have their own spot in the opening credits. Dun nuh nuh nuh, dun nuh nuh nuh (flap flap!) (That's the sound of her cheeks flapping as they turn to the camera.) -
Gilmore Girls May Get Revived On Netflix?
desertflower replied to Primetimer's topic in Gilmore Girls
Yeah, I agree and I don't think playing Sookie again would be a step back, it would be a nice return to a more subtle character. Sure she was a little klutzy (although they seemed to downplay that as the series went on) but she was sweet and likeable. Did anyone here see her in "St. Vincent"? She was really good in that. It was nice to see a different side of her in that. -

If she wanted to do it they could make it work. Even if they went to her and filmed something apart from the other cast members. Like someone above said, it could just be a phone call or a video message or something. If George Clooney aka biggest star in the universe could appear on ER, she ought to be able to throw us a bone and make a cameo of some sort. -

Her character was fine one on one with Rory, but when she and the other girl were together they were just too "on", IMO. Like Colin and Finn. Like they were always rehearsing a scene from a play instead of talking like college kids. They just all needed to be dialed back a notch. -
Gilmore Girls May Get Revived On Netflix?
desertflower replied to Primetimer's topic in Gilmore Girls
Ya know, I'd actually like to see an appearance from everyone at the reunion. (Except Colin, Finn, and the two girls Rory befriends in season 7.) That doesn't mean I want huge storylines for everyone, but lots of cameos might be fun. I actually want to see April and how she and Luke are doing. I really didn't mind April, but even if you hate her it could be good to see an older more mature version of her. I'd like to see Dean just so they can give him a slightly more positive last impression. I want to see Mrs. Kim being a grandma to 8 year olds. I always liked Christopher and Lorelai's scenes, even though I ultimately rooted for L&L. But I think it would be good to see Chris in the revival, as long as he is not messing with L&L's relationship. -
SoupThrower beat me to it, just coming to say Tara was correct remembering a scene where B visits Emily, it's just later at Christmas. Thank you for the gif of Dylan's eye roll! The best!

Val and Ginger set the whole thing up....Ginger stole some stuff, Ray got blamed, Val sweeps in to expose Ginger as the culprit, Ginger leaves town, everyone thanks Val for telling the truth. But they set it all up so the gang would like and trust Val. The whole thing is very stupid because just a few episodes later Val is doing more stuff to make the gang hate her, so it was pointless. Then Ginger comes back and threatens to tell everyone the truth about their "scam" unless Val gets David to sleep with her. (Ginger) It's all very, very stupid.

It is very odd to me how much Emily and Richard championed Christopher throughout the series, given how little he was involved with Rory when she was young. You'd think they would've cooled off toward him. I guess to them he represented what could have been; Lorelai married to someone from their same social standing, happy family intact. To them she ruined it all by not getting married. But still, after a few years of him flaking out on Rory you would think they would change their opinion. But every time he comes around they fawn over him, and every time Lor dates him Emily is thrilled. I wish they had revealed a little more about what happened to Christopher after Rory was born. I know Lorelai didn't want to get married but then what? Did they just break up? Did he take off and not come back because he was mad she didn't want to get married? I know they had that flashback episode that showed Lorelai leaving the note and moving out but I can't remember exactly if they explained what happened between Lor and Christopher. -
The timeline of that morning is so weird. Those kids know how to pack a lot in before the early shift at the diner! It took me a few times of seeing the episode to notice, but I think Brandon is actually wearing Emily's jacket when they are making out on the car. It looks like the one she was wearing earlier at the Pit. It still doesn't explain what happened to his shirt, but it makes it funnier to think when he is standing up glaring at Dylan and Brenda he is doing so in his girlfriend's lady-coat. This is my favorite version of Dylan. I know he must have his tortured, misunderstood side or he wouldn't be Dylan, but there are a handful of episodes where he is funny, cool, relaxed and in control. I love that Dylan. I've always loved Kelly's "this place is never again", and I also must give a shout out to her calling David a "pukemeister." Hee hee.

Jenny O'Hara (Mrs. Scanlon) also showed up on ER once as a put-upon nurse who got called to help in the ER. She was really bitchy about it until she made a mistake that almost killed a patient, and Carol Hathaway yelled at her. She's great at those roles. They probably should've followed this up in later episodes with some scenes (or mentions, at least) of David getting some therapy. I don't think we even see his dad ever talking to him about it, do we? That would be a really traumatizing thing for a kid to witness.
-
I love the epic stink eye Mrs. Scanlon gives Brandon and Emily when she catches them making out. Crappiest party guests ever!
