Yeah, I can totally believe that Rory would fall for him, despite him being a jerk 90% of the time. Because he showed a different side with her when they were alone, and a teenage girl (no matter how book smart she is) would hold on to that and even romanticize it. ("I know his true self!") Also, when Paris is asking how you know a guy is right for you, Rory talks about how you should have some similar interests but still some differences, and how there is something exciting about someone who is unpredictable, not knowing what a person is going to do next. I think Dean was getting a bit predictable at that point, and Jess kind of stepped in at just the right time to pique her interest.I disliked Jess, but also liked him. Not sure how that works, but there you have it.

The one guy was dressed as a carrot because they ran out of cop uniforms. Another line I loved from that exchange was Frankie's "There was LUMBER involved!" I listened a couple times but I couldn't understand what Leonard said right after the frisbee disintegrated in his hands? The Yahoo issues seem random. I watched on the computer at their site in the middle of the day and while there were commercials and a couple seconds of dropped audio, there was no buffering or freezing up. But when my husband tried to watch last night it was freezing up a lot.

Best wishes for your recovery from surgery, Maharincess. Glad the gang is there to get you through it. :) I'm curious, do the episodes on Hulu have all the original music?

I enjoyed the new episodes; it was fun seeing some of those secondary characters again, especially Todd. Not sure why Garrett was so angry at the end but I'm assuming they will probably follow up on that. Or maybe not! Loved the gang trying to be old-timey in the speak easy, and Britta failing at it. I thought Chang was used pretty well; he wasn't overdone. I like the new characters, too. Did anyone else have issues with the timing of the ads on Yahoo? It seemed like they cut to ads slightly before they were supposed to, and then when it came back there were a few times where the audio was out for just a second or two. Anyway, glad to have the show back!

I just saw this ad yesterday, and only a little while after I had watched a GG episode on Netflix. It was so jarring to see her all grown up! (Yes, I know she was already grown up when playing Lane, but you know what I mean!) I have not seen her since GG ended so it was nice to see her again.

Well, she stole Donna's clients from her when they were doing the personal shopper business. It was totally uncalled for since Donna was being really nice to her and actually wanted to interact and work with her. But she took her clients AND slept with Ray (twice). And although she cared about Brandon, she hurt him by extension whenever she went after Kelly. My point is if she wanted Brandon and the gang's approval so badly to construct an elaborate scheme, she probably shouldn't have turned around and treated them like that right afterwards. I guess it was supposed to show us how messed up she was.
-
Yeah, that's what's so dumb; they were nice to her for about 5 minutes but it's not long before she starts acting a fool and sleeps with Ray and does a bunch of other crap, so of course they hate her again before too long. Her desire to alternately try to fit in with them while also trying to destroy their lives was bizarre.

Maherjunkie, someone stole a ring off the Martins' yacht during a party, and Donna found it in Ray's jacket pocket. Other stuff started disappearing around the Walsh house, and Ray got blamed. But then Val said she found out her sneaky friend Ginger actually took everything, and sent her back to Buffalo. But in the end they reveal it was just a big trick to get the gang to like Valerie.
-
Yes, aren't they such clever con artists? A scam could've been fun, but not when the big buildup ends with....the gang treating her slightly nicer than they did before. Maybe now Kelly will only roll her eyes behind Val's back, instead of to her face. Ooh, score! They should orchestrate a casino heist next, because those girls are crafty! And of course Val promptly undoes any good will she built up by moving on to her next scheme. Can't remember what that is, but I know it's coming. Does she sleep with Ray next? I can't keep track of her bad deed timeline.

Caught a couple eps today, with Kelly's 21st birthday at the Dave Koz concert (insert eye roll here) while her jilted lovers B & D sit by her side. Lord. Also, Colin's terrible painting that he presents to her at the end. In case you need a reminder, it's a big plate of sliced cake with some sort of half naked angel being hovering over it. Is the angel supposed to be Colin? Or just some sort of Patron Saint of Cakes? So many questions. I guess I just can't appreciate fine art. Ray was a good guy in this one. Everyone accuses him of stealing crap but after he's proven innocent he graciously accepts Steve's apology without a second thought. Also, he is subjected to Donna's cringe-worthy drunken strip tease and still manages to be a gentleman. I'm surprised he didn't flee for his life at that point. Drunken sexed-up Donna is pretty scary.

Beyond 90210: Cast members in the media and other roles
desertflower replied to desertflower's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
John Sears was the frat guy who hit on Kelly her freshman year at college. He was slimy, and also messed with Steve and tried to get him kicked out of the KEG house. I was watching a movie the other night starring Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler, and Mrs. Teasley showed up as a psychiatrist. Hey Mrs. T! -
Beyond 90210: Cast members in the media and other roles
desertflower replied to desertflower's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
Pop (TV Guide Network's new name) showed "The Story Behind Beverly Hills 90210." Of course I recorded it, even though I knew I had probably heard everything already. The only cast members they interviewed were Carol Potter and Joe E. Tata, but they talked to a lot of the producers, writers, casting people, etc. You know, those names we always see in the credits. There were no huge revelations but it was kind of nice to hear their take on things. They had mostly nice things to say about everyone, even Shannen. They said towards the end she was late all the time and just didn't seem to want to be there, but most of them were still sorry to see her go because they liked writing for her. One part I had to call b.s. on though...they talked about how Aaron Spelling was adamant about hiring ONLY the most talented and attractive people, and how all the kids had prior experience, and he wouldn't settle for less than the very best, blah blah blah. Umm...how does Tori fit into that category, exactly? Or the kid who played Scott Scanlon? (Who, by the way, was not even mentioned or shown in ANY of the many, many pictures they showed.) Anyway, it was not an exhaustive history of our show by any means, but it was nice hearing from some of those behind the scenes people. -
Jess: "I'm going to put it in the Goodwill bin at the school" Coach: "As lining for the bottom." Hee hee, that line made me laugh. Also, Nick's inability to speak coherently at the sales pitch. I bet they had fun filming that.

Oops, just realized my last post should've gone in college years so I copied it over there too. But yes, ktwo, those are definitely examples of Steve at his worst. In general I liked him, especially in the last season.

I accidentally put this in the wrong topic thread yesterday so I'll repost here where it belongs: Jesse's "He be gone, he be outta here" episode was on today. Yay! It's a funny line but it's also a good scene because of the smackdown he gives Steve. Poor whiny Steve is upset because he can't plan parties anymore. Wah-wah. Oh, and Andrea looks gorgeous in that episode. Her best look in the college years by far.

S06.E04: Scared Straight Into the Kitchen

I agree with everyone that this was too hard. Anne was mad because everyone on her team was rushing to finish; doesn't that tell you something when everyone is having a problem? I also wonder what squid ink tastes like; maybe I'm wrong but I suspect it's not worth the effort. -
Beyond 90210: Cast members in the media and other roles

Maherjunkie: no, not the Raquel Welch one. I didn't see any other recognizable names in the cast. It was called "Unholy Rollers." Hee. But seriously, his IMDB page is worth a look; so many familiar shows from the 60s and 70s. He was on the Batman tv show 5 times! I bet he told some great stories on the 90210 set. Didn't they do an episode where Steve set up a film festival of old B movies and Nat was in one of them? And that's how he reconnected with his old girlfriend? I can't remember what movie it was supposed to be. A Roger Corman one, maybe? I assumed Joe E Tata was actually in it but I didn't see anything that looked like that on his IMDB listings. Maybe it was an uncredited part. Marie Claudine, I seem to remember trying to look that up once when we talked about it at the Twop board, and I never found anything. I wonder if she was just somebody they knew and asked to do the part. Oh Egg Lady, you made a lasting impression! -

Dang, I just perused Nat's IMDB listings, and he's been in a ton of stuff. Mostly one episode of various tv shows throughout the years, but also some movies, including a roller derby movie! Lol. -
The girl playing Ruth the nurse reminded me of a young Madeline Kahn. I have to say I'm not a fan of the group teacher scenes. One or two quirky teachers is fine but a roomful of them is too much wackiness.

Today I caught some of the play audition storyline, with Crazy Laura and her crazy eyes and her crazy southern accent. Hee. I hate Steve in that episode and how nasty he is to Brenda. Granted, it was sketchy of Brenda to go to Randolph's house for a super secret night audition, (and even sketchier of Randolph to allow it), but it still bugs me how quick Steve was to assume she slept with him and then spread the rumor. But it does give Brenda the opportunity to deliver one of her best lines: "I'm still Maggie, and you have nothing. Except for Steve, which is pretty much the same thing." Ba-bam! Preach it, Brenda. In these eps I also enjoy how Andrea is supposed to be 6 months pregnant but looks like she's about a month overdue. Can you imagine how big she'd be if she went to full term?

Unpopular Opinions: The Cheese Stands Alone
desertflower replied to WhoaWhoKnew's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
My UO is that I liked Ray. Not the abusive aspect, obviously. But I liked the underdog, blue collar type character that he started as. Most of all I liked that he didn't give a crap whether or not the gang liked him, which we rarely saw. And even though he sang it roughly 963 times, I liked "Hold On." He had a nice voice.- 238 replies

They showed Donna Martin Graduates yesterday so of course I had to watch it. I had forgotten that Gil practically bullies Brandon into organizing the protest. He asks him what he's going to do about it and alludes to a protest, then when Brandon questions whether everyone would participate Gil says, "All they need is a leader. When I first met you I thought that's what you were" and he walks away. Ugh. What also bugs is that he pulls Brandon away from Andrea to plant the idea. Why not talk to them together? Andrea would be perfectly capable of leading the protest too. It just echoed that crap he pulled at the beginning of the year when he passed over Andrea to try to make Brandon the editor. Of course no one can silence a crowd with his hand like Bran the Man, so I guess he was the guy for job!

Yeah, it's been a long time since they've had an episode with no sex talk. It's not like it offends me but I know they are capable of being funny without it so after awhile it just feels lazy. That being said, I did laugh at Jess trying to be sexy in her apron and oven mitts.

So I thought of our beloved show over the weekend....we went out of town and the toilet in our hotel was crazy powerful....yes, I had my very own Turbo Toilet! It's too bad I didn't have massive piles of drugs and cigarettes to dispose of, because it would've been a snap. Hell, I could've flushed the backpack that carried it all. I could've flushed Brandon's gigantic watch, David's keyboard and Dylan's angst, all in one shot! So I must ask you, my friends...what would YOU flush, if you had a magical Turbo Toilet?? And, go!
