  1. I had the show on in the background yesterday so I caught bits and pieces of different episodes. Random observations: It's still jarring to see such a Cindy-centric episode (where she runs into her old flame and has her "mental affair"), considering how they got relegated to the background and eventually written out as the show progressed. Also, I was surprised to see a scene with her in a satiny, nice fitting nightgown. Every once in awhile they let her wear something flattering, but not often. Kelly had a dog? I don't think we ever saw him again. Brandon's teen mom girlfriend yells at him for giving little Joey ice cream, then promptly plops him on the couch and turns her back on him to have a long discussion with Brandon. Hee. I always sort of forget how stinkin' cute season 1 Dylan was. Especially once they got his wardrobe right, with the simple t-shirts and jackets. Jason was no slouch but you can totally see why Luke became a breakout star of the show. Totally agree with the above remarks about the disparity between how Brandon and Brenda were treated. At least with the sex thing it was acknowledged, with Brenda yelling at her dad: "With Brandon you just wanted him to know about birth control, with me my whole value system is on the line." Preach it, Brenda. But by the time she gets arrested for the animal thing the writers don't even give her that much, she is just treated like crap by everyone and has to be sullen and outcast.
  2. It's Tuesday, time for more episodes on TVGN. Right now is the mother/daughter fashion show, with Jackie's awesome meltdown. "Oh loosen up, ladies!" Lol. At some point someone probably should've stepped in and relieved her of her hosting duties instead of mumbling to themselves disapprovingly. And Donna and her mom (NOTFelice) strutting around in their bathing suits is priceless. Could you imagine Felice doing that? I always thought Andrea looked better at the fashion show than she did at Spring Dance or prom. She still looked youthful, unlike spring dance when she dons her mom's gown with the giant poofy sleeves.
  3. The turbo toilet episode is the best. So ridiculous. I think they even flush a pack of cigarettes, don't they? And just one more example of Street Smart Dylan, who knows everything there is to know about everything. Fun fact: the dealer who gives his stash to David was one of the bank robbing surfers in the movie "Point Break".
  4. I was watching the basketball one too, and Brandon gets an epic smackdown from James, the basketball player we never see again. This show sure wasn't afraid to drop characters with no further explanation. Another notable moment...Cindy gets a brief respite from her endless supply of frumpy high-waisted denim skirts and wears a nice little black dress. I can't believe I'm now actually older than Jim and Cindy were then.
  5. I just made a new General Discussion topic.
  6. Brandon to Mary Ann: "Years from now I'll hate myself for being such an idiot.." Mary Ann: "No you won't, I won't let you." Oh, poor Mary Ann doesn't realize she's never going to make it past the pilot.
  7. Didn't catch any of the marathon yesterday but I'm watching the pilot now....some of the original music is still there (Gene Loves Jezebel in club scene, song while Brandon and Mary Ann ride the motorcycle)....so in the dvds were just some of the songs replaced or all of them?
  8. I just checked my cable guide and it looks like they are showing a bunch this Friday, too. But you're right, it's not every day. I prefer a little bit every day instead of huge chunks once a week, but I guess I can't complain, at least it's on. Djimon Huntsou as the bouncer at the club! And I always think it's funny how fast Brenda hightails it into the club without waiting to see if her friends get in.
  9. It's on, y'all! As I type this young David Silver is driving drunk Steve home from the party. Oh pilot, how I've missed you. Original Mondale. Brandon's mullet. The wildly inappropriate morning DJ who broadcasts everyone's business to the entire school. Mary Ann eating her sushi in the courtyard. Teachers (and principal) we never see again. The list goes on. Looks like they are showing episodes until about 4 today. Are they showing that much every day?
  10. Oh happy day! Thanks for the news, Jeebus. I could not find anything on their website either but I checked their fb page and found a couple of teasers, tucked in amongst all the Big Brother posts. The date wasn't listed. Yay!!!
  11. I saw another short article (forgot where it was, sorry) where the Netflix president said he agreed with the criticism that the whole cast wasn't together enough, and that organizing their schedules will be key to a successful season. So it sounds like they might be heading in the right dirsection, if he has any say in it. Will Arnett was on Jimmy Fallon the other night and confirmed it is happening, they just didn't know when.
  12. I think season 5 could be a good one, if they can get more of the cast together at the same time. I wonder if they are aiming for that this time?
  13. Buster and Gob have remained my favorite characters, with George Michael close behind. (I HATED that it took so long to get to Buster's episode in season 4. I love him.) But I'm with you, MsTaken...I appreciate something about all the characters and can't imagine the show without all of them. David Cross comes off like a jerk in almost everything I've seen him in, so I was prepared to not like Tobias, but he has a pathetic sweetness about him so I even enjoy him. (It reminds me of Andy Dick as Matthew on "NewsRadio"...don't like anything of what I've seen of the guy in real life, but the character is strangely sweet.) Season 1 is my favorite, I think. Honestly I have a little trouble remembering exactly which plots happened in which season but I know I loved all the prison stuff in season 1, especially Gob getting stabbed by the white power dude. "But I am white!" Hee hee. That's when I knew this show would be awesome. I don't know if I can pick a favorite episode but Motherboy XXX has to be up there. So much weird, funny stuff there.
  14. That was a fun article with Ian, and I love that he remembers so much.
  15. When Gob is showing off his sword to Michael, and he stabs himself putting it back in the holder. Michael: "Are you bleeding?" (Or something to that effect) Gob: "Probably, my socks are wet." It doesn't look that funny on paper but once again Will Arnett brings it with his stellar delivery.
  16. Yeah, and it's too bad because it was an otherwise nice scene. Brandon is standing outside of Donna's store reminiscing to Steve and deciding if he is going to leave or not. It could've been a nice moment until they ruined it by making up crap. And then Steve nods knowingly and is all "I remember that." As if all the viewers would think "Hmm, I don't remember his first day at West Beverly being like that, but if Steve remembers, hey, it must be true!"
  17. GHScorpiosrule, he waxed nostalgic about how he tripped in the hall his first day of school and Donna helped him and took him under her wing and introduced him to everyone, which NO SHE MOST CERTAINLY DIDN'T.
  18. Do you have to have Amazon Prime to get it free? When I checked it was $1.99. (Which still isn't bad.) Just wondering if I'm looking in the right place.
  19. Go for it, Marie Claudine. It might help. I do think it hurts that the show is not currently running anywhere. I could always think of things to post after watching an episode.
  20. Happy 4th to all my Niner friends! Although I don't think the gang was ever shown celebrating Independence Day, they did light some sparklers in tribute to poor Scott in the time capsule episode. So as you celebrate today don't forget to raise a sparkler to Scott and remember, don't play with guns!
  21. Yeah, it was bad enough the parents were written out of the show, but the yellow Mustang too?? Boo, writers, boo!
  22. I didn't mind Camille either, but she just felt like a placeholder until David found his way back to Donna. (Much like Matt was in the Dylan/Kelly relationship.) You just knew in your bones that Camille and Matt didn't stand a chance in the long run, so it was hard to invest in those relationships. But I liked the actress who played Camille, even if (according to Felice) she had that too-short haircut. :) But she seemed grown up and confident, like she maybe even had a life outside of the gang. (GASP!) Maybe that is why Kelly didn't like her! Maybe she refused to dump all her other friends and family and wanted to actually invite them to things and Kelly couldn't have that. Ok I'm just making stuff up now.
  23. And what made all that worse was the fact that Brandon had sex in the house way back in season 1 and nobody batted an eye. Cindy fretted for about two minutes and Jim basically told him to be careful and that was about it.
  24. Someone mentioned Tobias' illness upthread...FXX is showing AD and they are in this storyline now. It is really gross but it's worth it for the scene where they reveal that GM is having a hard time looking directly at Tobias. I hadn't seen it in awhile but oh my gosh I was dying. Tobias rolls closer to GM and corners him and GM starts reaching for papers, the wall...anything not to look directly at Tobias. Michael Cera is so hysterical in his subtle, awkward way. Then to top it all off Gob, trying to video the whole thing, yells something like "get closer...can you put your face near his drainage shunt?" Lol. I'm laughing again as I type this.
  25. I still love all the Ann stuff. Especially when Michael is involved. Bateman's reactions crack me up, and his timing is just so perfect. His "Her?" and "Is she?" (when GM mentions how beautiful she is) are still so funny to me. But my absolute favorite is when GM tells him that Ann is going to be in the beauty pageant and Michael is just completely befuddled. "Is she running the lights or something?" Haha. So great.
