LSSC: Season Four Episode Talk
PikaScrewChu replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
I'm not the OP but I went last year. I was there for the taping of two shows back to back. I was in the studio itself for around 2 and a half hours. I didn't have a watch and you're not allowed to take out your cellphone once you're in the actual theater so I can't tell you exactly how long I was in there. I was getting antsy by the time we got into the theater and wished I had brought a book. Once you get into the lobby you're there for quite a while with not much to do. I was chatting with the people around me and playing on my phone. If you're in the upper tier you get the ceiling. If you're in the lower tier you don't get to see the ceiling. The tickets stated that the line ups start at 3 pm. However people get there much earlier to get to the front. It's first come, first serve. However the bathroom break is on the honor system. You're supposed to go back to your place in line. There were people who didn't. Additionally you have to go through security searches so if you're someone who comes with next to nothing then you get through the line up faster and get ahead of those in the front. I went to both Colbert and Last Week Tonight last time I was in NYC. I would go back for tapings of both but LWT was a much better experience overall. -
Initially Hannah was excluded once she went to live with Jon but she does see her other brothers and sisters now. Haven't heard anything about Colin seeing anyone other than Hannah. I've been waiting to see if any of the other 'tups defect. Mady and Cara never will. You know, after seeing how things turned out for the Gosselins and Duggars I'd be avoiding reality TeeVee like the plague. Even Will and Zoey on The Little Couple are going to be forever known as those bratty kids from TLC.

They slipped up with the Bradley Cooper interview yesterday. They obviously taped it earlier in the week and Bradley Cooper forgot that it was being aired on Thursday. Yikes! I got to go to a taping last year and we ended up sitting through Stephen doing the interviews for two shows. -
Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
PikaScrewChu replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I feel like it would come off as insincere anyways but come on. Speak to something about her individuality. Unless the Swansons beat the idea of individuality out of her too. -
I really need to go on a trip here. I'm saving up for an overnight trip soon. I need to look at my planner to see where I can squeeze it in. I've been trying to mark and Turnitin has been down for the past 2 hours. I would like to not spend my weekend marking student papers. I have so much other stuff on the go that has been neglected due to illness. I've been working from home as much as I can since I injured my ankle.

It's a day. A day! The lad I've been seeing sent me a message wishing me a happy V Day but we're both up to our eyes in work so even if we did want to celebrate we'd have to wait. I love going and getting fancy cards but I haven't had time for that either. So that will be a no this year.

Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
PikaScrewChu replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
How worldly are the Swansons? They obviously know that the Duggars are on the television but do they actually watch television and/or participate in pop culture? Lauren's parents should take partial blame for this mess. We can go back to that Lauren is legally an adult and able to make her own decisions. However, they seem to have instilled in Lauren that a woman will be an old maid forever if she isn't married by the time she's 20. Plus they are social climbers, what with moving closer to the Duggars and all that. I don't think Lauren fully understood what marrying into the Duggars entailed, I think her parents did. For what it's worth I feel the same about how the Seewalds sent their teenage son to the slaughter. I don't think Ben fully grasped what being a part of the Duggar borg meant. His parents did and they knowingly sent him off. I truly wonder if anyone in the family feels like they can say "please keep this off the show" after the Dullards were written out though. The TLC giveth and the TLC taketh away.- 6.4k replies

It seems Michaela has always gotten the short end of the stick. I remember the months upon months of speculation between her and Brandon. I was convinced Brandon was never going to ask her to court. I was very surprised when he did. She got to watch two of her younger sisters get married before she did. They've had multiple children since then. Her other two sisters have a baby/will have a baby. Plus her parents clearly didn't read the Bible when they initially named her Michel. They re-named her Michael legally because it didn't cost money to change one letter whereas it would cost money to rename her Michaela. Boooooo! Do your research beforehand! I hope she takes it all in stride but for someone who has probably been the most faithful to IBLP/ATI, she really hasn't been rewarded for it.

Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody

I do remember Josiah being very smug during the 19 Kids and Counting days. It lead to him being called Smuggar 2.0 or Smuggar Jr. Can't remember. It's very easy to forget how similar they are because Josh has become persona non grata everywhere except in the mind of leg humpers. -

I had a checklist going about how 'Siah is veering into Joshley territory. Then I realized that the Smuggar actually seemed interested in Anna for a bit. Move along folks, nothing to see here but two people who don't like each other procreating because Jesus. -
The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah

They're only mimicking what they see and what's popular. It's influencers who are insincere or have no substance. Influencers weren't even a thing until relatively recently. It's bizarre to think about that this is an actual career. Probably the only acceptable career for a Duggar woman. -

Keep working that influencer angle Jana. This seems like something I would see on one of those positive affirmation blogs. Then they would try and sell me a cruelty-free yoga mat in the next post. Swipe up!!! -
It's their favorite EYE-talian restaurant!

Oh no. It's even better. They filmed Lauren in a talking head alone sobbing about it. No 'Siah in sight. As much as I find their belief system abhorrent, have a little humanity TLC. -

Yep. I imagine they were prepping for an announcement after the Jabbie wedding special. I really hope these two are taking the time for themselves. They're so young. Lauren shouldn't be worried about getting pregnant ASAP. -

The Grammys got flack for not including Cardi B as a performer beyond the rap in Finesse last year. She is also a media darling right now. You'll notice the award Girls Like You was nominated for they showed Cardi B instead of Maroon 5. -

This is the Duggars. They're the Kardashians of the fundie world. 100% show driven. Granted Jilly Muffin made a statement about announcing early even if she miscarried because sanctity of life and blah blah blah.- 6.4k replies

The Annual Grammy Awards - General Discussion

Dua Lipa was absolutely precious and well deserving. I hope she can continue to have a career beyond One Kiss. New Rules is one of my jams. As the Knack would say "[he] always get it up for the touch of the younger kind". That is Wilmer Valderrama. Fiction mirrored reality there, he is actually Fez in real life. Gross old man. I have quite a few friends from Toronto and one rants constantly about how much he hates Drake and how awful it is that Drake is tied to Toronto. Drake doesn't have a lot of self awareness, period. He's one of music's biggest artists right now. You throw Drake rapping on a single and you probably have a hit. Most artists today don't have the luxury Drake does. I ended up drifting in and out of the broadcast. Dolly Parton and Diana Ross were highlights of the show. I would love to have Dolly's showmanship without all the ridiculous props and dancing. I won't see y'all for the Oscars. The only movies I saw this year were the Avengers one and Crazy Rich Asians. At least work gives me the opportunity to listen to music in my downtime. -

I thought Drake wasn't going to show up? Well then, I'm getting old and not keeping up with the news. -

So they had to incorporate Drake into the Grammys somehow and they got Alicia to sing one of his songs. -

I went off to play HQ for a bit too. It glitched on me with the Steely Dan question. Boo. Alicia Keys doesn't have the energy to carry an awards show. It also doesn't help most of the musical numbers are so slow. -

Mark Ronson singing along to Jolene is everything. I feel like half the audience is like "Who da faq is this woman...?" -

Childish Gambino was pretty vocal about not attending the Grammys. They've had the time to prep ahead if Ariana Grande, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, or Childish Gambino win an award and aren't there. Contingency plans and all that.
