He did a mash up of Mercy/In Your Atmosphere with John Mayer that's pretty good. Todd in the Shadows also really hates him. -

I'm surprised they're okay with Miley's choice of wardrobe. That looks like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. I wish Shawn Mendes had done There's Nothing Holding Me Back rather than In My Blood. Ah well. Oh Gaga, I love you but stop looking fake shocked. You were getting that Grammy. -

Yes and already thinking about turning it off. Camila Cabello drives me nuts. How did she end up the biggest one out of Fifth Harmony? -
Not being on the show anymore means being cut out of a lot of the family life and events in case there is a TeeVee crew around. That has to be really hard. Plus the Duggars started filming for the TeeVee shows back in 2004. She spent nearly 13 years of her life prepping for television. That was a huge part of her identity. To be honest though I think it's better for Izzy and Sam to be away from the show. It feels like Jill is trying to teach Iz and Sam to be ready to be recorded at any time. That's not healthy.

Did you read the series of articles about quitting the Big 5? That's Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple, and Facebook? It seems near impossible. Someone pointed out in the comments that even withdrawing money from an ATM likely involved technology and information from one of the Big 5. This is the final article in the series where she quits ALL five. https://gizmodo.com/i-cut-the-big-five-tech-giants-from-my-life-it-was-hel-1831304194

I ended up spending time on /r/DuggarsSnark. Guess people are forwarding posts there to people associated with the Duggars. Thanks Previously.tv! I got to see the drama there in real time.

Louisiana, Arkansas, and Arizona are the only three states that recognize covenant marriage. It's more difficult than getting a no-fault divorce but it's not impossible. Wiki link. I wonder if the Smuggars and Jabbie have adopted covenant marriages, apparently you can adopt them at a later date.

Oh god, I have so much stuff I inherited from my grandparents that I don't know what I'm going to do. It is all stored at my parents' house because very little of it has been doled out to the recipients. There were things that were supposed to be split up among siblings and cousins but I'm doubtful it will ever happen. It'll come down to my sister and I sorting through it all a few decades down the road. A lot of it is to avoid family drama. One of my uncles was pestering about some furniture that he wanted and has been whining for several years about it. It was supposed to go to me. It was annoying to constantly hear that. My mom took it out of storage and gave it to him because my place is too small. I was annoyed that he disrespected his parents' wishes rather than the fact I didn't end up with the furniture. I don't look forward to sorting through it all. Only my mom has the record of who was supposed to get what. I have a general idea but be damned if I know precisely who was supposed to get what. I'm just hoping by the time my sister and I get around to it that everyone has forgotten. I don't follow Konmari method but I've been working to declutter. This weekend I'll be going through my closet on breaks from stuff. I have too many clothes I don't wear. I'm trying really hard to get through my book collection by reading them but I feel like I'm running out of hours in the day if I actually want to sleep.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
PikaScrewChu replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
It was dismissed but I thought they appealed. The hearing for the remaining three defendants finally took place back in December. It says in that article that the lawsuit was dismissed against InTouch so I'm guessing they probably abandoned the idea of getting any $$$ out of InTouch. -

Pinterest version of "Keep sweet"? Josh, Jill, Jinger and John-David were the ones who passed the GED for sure when I double checked through past posts. I suspect they gave up from Josiah on down. -

Keep it up with that Pinterest style hustle Jana! -
I use that quite a bit along with "Not my monkeys, not my circus" when I get asked for favors. Awww the poor wee one. I hope she has a smooth recovery. :( It's not fun being injured at that age.

I'm honestly mortified. They have an assignment due on Friday that needs to be handed in as a paper copy. No exceptions. "But I don't want to drive to school this week to hand in a paper copy. Can't you accept a digital copy?" You've known about this for three weeks now and several students handed it in last week. They went out of their way to get it to me. You're kidding me, right? These are second and third year students. My first year of TAing the students were only allowed to contact us via email if there was an emergency. The course director dealt with all the emails. He forwarded us some of them and he was a seasoned veteran with teaching. I was shocked at how they spoke to a man who had been teaching the course for 30+ years! I'm a very petite woman and I've noticed that students think they can intimidate me. I was helping with an exam my first year of grad school. One of the students was pushing and shoving one of the other women because the bathrooms were only for students still in the exam and he was done but wanted to use THAT WASHROOM despite there being one 2 minutes away he could use. She kept saying no. The look on his face when I grabbed him and picked him up was priceless.

We didn't cancel classes. I wish we had. Having to deal with students despite the fact the one class is later in the day and the weather has improved significantly is getting tiring. I get it, the weather sucks. But this is a program where they are expected to pursue careers in places that have extreme weather too. I'm pretty good at being polite and not snapping at them but they don't understand how rude their emails come across. After reading several of them you're like "Ahhhh, why is email etiquette not a subject in high school???". Save that for the snark forums.

Haha. My mom used to do this to my grandfather. He would actually wait until my mom was about to go over to fill the sink with water because my mom has a thing about filling sinks with water to ease dryness. Then he would immediately drain it after she left. I'm worried about the pipes here. My neighbours keep their windows open because "it's too hot in the building". Well yeah when you have the heat cranked as high as it will go and are running eighty different electronics it's going to get hot. Turn down the heat a bit and give your massive gaming computer a rest. Two apartments have had their pipes burst and flooded the surrounding apartments because they keep their windows open. The pleading from our building manager to keep the windows closed is futile.

Baaaaaaabe is also a bit more pretentious than Dullard, Bin-Bob, or Austin. I'm doubtful Jinger is writing most of these preachy posts after her "Jeremy loves books. I love books" post. This is how I imagine the creation of that IG post... Jinger: "I love being her mama"... Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaabe, what's another word for lots of love? Jeremy: "Overflowing with joy?" Jinger: "Baaaaaaaaaabe. How do you spell overflowing?" Jeremy: "O-V-E-..." Jinger: "Slow down" Jeremy: "Just give me the phone." Jinger: "Ok, that post sounds good. Let me add something about God." End scene.

I'm waiting to see if they open my campus or not tomorrow. I'm hoping yes because I have to administer an exam and collect assignments. Rescheduling the exam will be a pain and I've already had enough headaches with this assignment. I had a group of students ask if I could proofread their assignments before handing it in. Of course, along with the other 90 students I have in my classes. It didn't dawn on them that it completely defeats the purpose of me marking their assignments if I read them beforehand. If they keep classes running I will get a bunch of emails about how unfair it is that I'm still administering an exam and collecting assignments because it's going to take them hours to get to campus in this weather. Buddy me too, me too. Time I could be using to do other work rather than sitting in traffic. Don't get me wrong, I love teaching but it growing weary. It seems to be getting worse every year and we're getting our knuckles rapped if we're "too hard" on the students. I'd rather just take a term off and focus on my research to recharge but I have about a year to go before I can realistically do that. @Christina87 sounds about right with the stage parents. This girl is up there dancing with 4 to 8 year olds. She gets told repeatedly to go to the back because otherwise she will block the rest of the kids. Nope. She goes straight to the front and blocks the other kids plus she just decides to make up her own solo to the song so it's caught on camera. It's so unfair to the other kids who have been practicing for months to perfect the choreography. Granted I've danced with people who will do that too when we're performing in a group situation. So it's not limited to adolescents!

That's ridiculous. If I were that kid's coach I'd be asking them to sit out until after assessment by a physician and physiotherapist. It's a waste of their time and my time to have a kid around training who may have a "career ending" injury post surgery. I put that in quotation marks because how much of a career can a young child have? There was one family that has this idea their eldest is going to be a star and they've been pushing her since she's a toddler. She's old enough to drive and she's in classes with 4 year olds because the parents a) don't want to pay extra money for her to be in the classes with adults (like she should be) and b) her parents obviously don't want her to be a small fish in a big pond. She only enjoys the attention of being on stage. I don't think she actually enjoys being in class. Her younger sister is much more talented but they had her quit because she has stage fright and would freeze whenever in front of an audience.

I'm going to be vague since the fact I put the line in about the studio in there but it's not a very popular dance style right now. It'll be back in style in about 10 years. Basically I had nearly a full day of studio time with one class and then working with my instructor doing choreography to perform. We were expected to practice during the week and re-watch the practice videos, listen to the music, etc. We'd squeeze in practice during the week closer to performances/events. You are expected to take classes and workshops with traveling master teachers but I didn't find most of them useful. I did find one that was absolutely lovely and if they come back to this area I will be doing classes with them again. I also took other dance styles where I could. Ballet was to assist in posture and hip hop was to assist in being able to make moves look sharp and precise. Plus I was expected to work out on my own time to build endurance. Most people don't go pro until their late 20s, early 30s in this style unless they are a prodigy or have been training since they could walk. It just got to a boiling point because the owner explicitly expected us to go out there and make money for the studio with us just "gaining exposure". We should be thankful for them because we were getting exposure for our future career! Doing a performance, even if it is only a 4 minute song, is an all day thing. They also started imposing strict attendance regulations for those who were doing things outside of just taking classes. It was so ridiculously strict that the only way to get around it was by taking a 2 month leave of absence. But then you were stuck trying to catch up on technique and choreography. It wasn't to help us, it was strictly a business decision to try and recoup money for the studio. The owner also pulled some shady tactics to exploit people who couldn't afford lessons/workshops/etc. but that's getting really into rant territory and I've ranted enough. I can't remember whose granddaughter it was that injured themselves in gymnastics but I saw that and I felt for the kid. We had a few kids training in the studio and their parents were pushing them to train just as hard as the adults. It was supposed to be for fun for them and it clearly wasn't.

I will have to check that out! Thanks! I quit dancing at the beginning of the year so all of a sudden I have all this "free time". I've started going to the gym more but I didn't realize how much actual dance training sucked up my time, energy, and money. I've stopped eating take out and stopping at restaurants on my way home. I've suspended my laundry delivery service and am doing it myself. My place is more tidy and organized. I don't come home exhausted from training and dealing with the politics of an overzealous, batshit owner whose business is bleeding money. It has truly been night and day. There were days I would just come home and sit on the internet or pass out cold from exhaustion. I figure I need to be kinder to myself because this has been a huge change. The breaking point was starting to see someone and realizing that training to become a pro dancer was incompatible with having a holistic approach to life. Everyone has asked me when I'm going to go back or if I'm going to pick up a different form of dance since I've dabbled in so many different forms to help my main training. Not yet, not yet. I saw how miserable the pros were and I was getting to that state of misery because it was like holding down a second full time job and then some. I'm loving being able to go to the gym and just train for myself and not because I need the endurance for dance. So now I have to learn how to be an adult like everyone else rather than just UberEats or sending my laundry out for someone else to do.

Is it big enough for a dozen M'kids though? Unless Smugs got the snip on the down-low. -

They got downgraded. I wonder if that house will end up being for the Smuggars or Seewalds.
