Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

I haven't checked but I'm assuming that TLC has halted production on a lot of their TV shows due to COVID-19. This may be the end of the Duggars. Hmmmm... -
Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

We have no indication, yet. Yet being the keyword here. It's great now but something tells me that these two don't have the hustle that people like JRod and Shrader have in order to keep their mega families going. Eventually they may have to make a choice. I suspect Austin has never really experienced poverty. Joy missed out on the hardships her elder siblings endured. If Austin is really set to inherit the Family Camp they may be okay, although stuff like that brings out the worst in siblings and he may not end up with it at all. We will see what life has in store for them. That being said, is there anyone who has JRod levels of hustle in this family???? -
I'm completely work from home now. They're fully shutting down THIS AFTERNOON and sent out an email 20 minutes ago that all swipe cards will be disabled. No one will be able to access their offices. I'm thinking no common decency whatsoever. They could have told people earlier this week. I fully expect a flood of people panicking today, especially some have hellish commutes. I don't think they will be fully wrapped up at 4 pm. My manager made the call for me to take all the office equipment home last night because we both suspected it was about to happen. The projections for re-opening are grim. If people who can take social distancing seriously, we'll be open sooner rather than later. However some people think it's a hoax and simply don't care. And as I said before, for many it is a luxury to afford such measures. This is America I suppose.

Duggar Data predicts 17 after this announcement. None of the Duggars are predicted to hit 19 unless someone has twins. Josie and Carlin are predicted to surpass 19 kids but I'm not sure Carlin could maintain 20-21 IG accounts for each kid. -
I keep waiting for the emails from the small businesses I go to saying they are shutting down until things cool off. I know social distancing and all that but it is going to be mighty lonely without them. I'm "allowed" into the office as long as no one else is there so I'm going to try and keep that routine going. It's a bit bittersweet realizing I won't see the Lad for a while either. The scariest part to me is that my parents are far away. I am already looking into car rentals if flights are hard to come by. I couldn't live with myself if they got severely ill and I wasn't there.

Restaurants and the like are still busy. I find my generation is heavily reliant on take away. Hellish commutes don't make it easier. Everything is shut down now. Private businesses are deciding whether or not to operate. I'm afraid that some of the lovely local businesses I go to will go under. It isn't like landlords are going to be all that forgiving. 😒 I'm still making the decision whether or not to keep going to the gym. It is a small family run business. They've cut class sizes to do social distancing and are sanitizing all equipment. Any equipment that cannot withstand industrial cleaners has been removed. It still feels a bit irresponsible to the community at large but going to the gym is how I keep things feeling "normal". I'm still working out of the office. Employees are expected to be at the schools but I figure it will only be long enough for classes to fully transition to online only methods and move out the few students living on campus. I was in today doing some work and one of my newer colleagues asked for advice on what to do with her stuff. I was blunt and said if she had the time and wasn't rushing, pack up everything. Worst case scenario is this goes to September. I am trying hard not to panic. It is being repressed. So I look cool as a cucumber but in reality my entire body aches, my TMJ has returned, and I definitely have some sort of issue with my ears.

I have to check my supply. I can't take most of those meds. Bleh. At this point I fully expect I've been exposed several times over. Between all the travel I've done to hot spots that were announced after the fact (😒) and interaction with people, yeah. I'm being cautious but I had to yell at a friend for wearing a full out respirator in public. There is being cautious and there is intentionally causing panic. I can't imagine what the people who saw him today felt. As I said before, there are a lot of precautions that are a luxury. There are quite a few people who are going to drag themselves into work because they have no choice. They see someone in a full out respirator mask? They are going to freak out.

Being able to take a lot of the precautions against COVID-19 is a luxury many take for granted.

Networks didn't run any of Arnold's old movies as they would supposedly have to give equal air time within the same slot to the other candidates. I went and looked it up. It looks like most TV networks drop re-runs and stop showing movies where any politician candidates show up to avoid issues but it is a grey area on what equal time constitutes and if movies/TV shows apply as campaigning.
-
It's probably been discussed before and I've missed it but does Jed running for political office affect TLC's ability to feature him on the show? I vaguely remember this coming up during Arnold's run for governor of California but that may have been something solely for California. Since reality TV people running for political office isn't a thing, I generally don't look up these laws. 😉

Has TLC even been filming? I think the only potential of filming was when Jinger and Prop flew out to Arkansas on "short notice" for the girl's lunch. I mean they could rehash Addison's, Bella's, and Grace's birth specials. The Duggars and TLC have steadfastly refused to re-tool Counting On, even as it is apparent that there are a finite amount of courtships that could happen and even fewer that will capture the viewer's imagination. I'm doubtful they are willing to wade into the Jed!2020 campaign on the show. And eventually it becomes the same old, same old. We all know Addison will be doing a smash cake for her 1st birthday to reveal whether the new baby is a boy or a girl. Etc. Etc. Etc. Kind of depressing to realize Kendra will be pregnant again within the next couple of months.

Late to this @Nysha I'm glad you have some sort of closure. I'm not as worried about Covid 19 as much as I should be I suppose. I've been too busy with other things. I am working at a college this term and student attendance has drastically dropped. They are complaining that the school needs to cancel classes or offer other options so they don't have to come to campus for midterms and finals. The one time the department I worked for tried online exams, a group of students got together and did the exam together. So the online exams stopped. That and only a limited amount of instructors have access to recording lectures. I do not have access. We haven't even had a confirmed case yet. It gets a bit annoying because you don't know what is truly anxiety and what is I don't want to do the work, I will use this as an excuse.

6 children? Why Anna is positively barren at this point! -

They haven't announced a winter/spring season yet. The latest they've had a "spring season" was in June and that was right after Joy and Austin's wedding. I half wonder if that means the Duggars are only getting one season this year instead of two separate seasons. -

Schrödinger's uterus at work. I wouldn't want to be training a puppy while pregnant and chasing around a toddler though. Although knowing the Duggars that puppy will be sent to a farm upstate. -
That's what I meant. Like Sham Wow and the Magic Bullet one with the aunt who has a cigarette dangling out of her mouth.
-
Someone at TLC probably forgot to secure paid advertisements for that time slot.

I'm doubtful anyone here is salivating over the fact the Dillards have sent their kids to public school and that means everything is forgiven. Plenty of hateful people have gone to public school. Plenty of perfectly pleasant people have gone to public school. At least Israel has the chance to be exposed to new ideals and not be doomed to 100% buy into what his parents are selling like the rest of his cousins. That's how the fundie cycle starts to break down. People are going a bit overboard on Twitter, yes. But I see this as a net positive for the kid. If nothing else, at least they made the right decision for Izzy for once. Derick and Jill may be a lost cause but the boys aren't (yet).
-
Genuine question. How are they doing harm by sending Israel to public school? Proper schooling is one of the reasons the Jeubs weren't able to keep all their children in the fold.
-
This is the only way any of the GrandDuggars are going to "break free" is by being exposed to things that challenge their world view. And no, I don't mean the staged TLC trips. Izzy is going to come into contact with people, beliefs, and ideals that his grandparents tried to isolate his mother from. That is a good thing. It doesn't take away Derick is a raging, hateful, miserable jerk. But it's good for those two boys. The M'kids, Seewalds, JoKens, Forsyths, and SiRens are likely going to have 12 years of subpar homeschooling and little to no exposure to anything that could challenge their beliefs. A broken clock is right twice a day. Jill and Derick did make the right move here. It's a low bar, but they did something right for once.

Maybe Grace is Jana's new accountability partner? At this point it's plainly obvious Jana wouldn't have a secret boyfriend in the shower at this point. -

He could go talk to his brother-in-law Derick Dillard about the top 10 ways to ensure TLC will not ask you back for the next season. However it seems to come with a serving of not being allowed at the TTH without permission and a pinch of saltiness on Twitter. Granted the ending may be Joy wearing pants and getting 80 different piercings. Gideon gets to go to public school where he learns about evolution. Ehhh... If anyone has better fan fic as to what would happen if Austin enrolled in the Derick Dillard Academy of Pissing Of Your In-laws And Conducting Twitter Meltdowns, have at it. -
Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

Joy and Austin seem to be holding things together well. I do wonder how the stillbirth affected them. Austin seems to be a lot more relaxed these days, but that could be just for the 'gram. Always hard to say. Giddy is one of those kids that would thrive in pre-school and kindergarten. It's too much to ask for but I hope he gets to go.
