We've been having some funky things going on in our complex since self isolation started and management moved off site. They are staying that way regardless of what the government orders. Even a leaky faucet is enough to set someone off because there is now a huge list of protocols to follow rather than "Just make sure the repairman can get to your sink". A guy just posted about drinking an entire bottle of whiskey yesterday evening because his anxiety is so bad. 😬 I started binge watching Mom. I'm not entirely sure why I find that show endearing. I really dislike Chuck Lorre and shouldn't find it endearing. Yet I do.

I've been slowly losing weight. I have no appetite whatsoever. I'm so behind on all my work and I need to get it done within the next month. But I know as soon as I tidy up these projects I will be given something in my field, but what the impact COVID-19 had on it. I don't wanna...

Unpopular opinion time. I think the haphazard online schooling has done more harm than good and with hindsight, we should have just resumed classes where we left off in August/September. It would have given teachers and administrators time to fully assess the needs of students and started making Plans B, C, and D if school could not resume in the fall. Yes it would mean having to navigate the idea of not being promoted to the next grade in September and having to find a way to make up for lost time so the school year could go back to "normal". There are quite a few children that don't have adequate internet access at home. Some don't have electronic devices. It's already difficult enough to assess the needs of 20+ students. Now you're assuming they all have the same access to technology. Yeah. No. This is assuming that they even have access to a phone line. We had one family at my previous dance studio who would have their phone line disconnected at least once a year. Yeah... It's why I'm grateful some colleges are announcing plans now to be online in September regardless. That way students can make an informed choice as to whether they have the adequate technology to take classes.

Nurie is going to be lucky to get a Betty Crocker cake baked the night before with frosting haphazardly slapped on and a dollar store figurine on top. Not to say the instant mixes are bad. They are amazing when tweaked properly. Do I think any of them know how to make an instant recipe even better? Nope. I guess it could be worse and she could be getting the Duggar ice cream sandwich cake.

We're in the middle of a pandemic where the situation is ever changing. Do the best you can to homeschool but if we adults are experiencing Zoom fatigue, so are the kidlets. Don't beat yourself up. Right now learning from a math app is probably more productive. Or watching a YouTube video of some science guy.

TLC filmed a bit but probably didn't film enough for an 8 episode season due to the current circumstances. I imagine they could get the Duggars to film something but who knows what. Are they going to show a Howler and the next brood mare on a date over Zoom? If you are smart, you can make decent money as a content creator. Jessa lucked out with the Z-list celebrity status by virtue of being put out on the TV show as a kid. Not to mention Benessa were the highest profile couple on the show. Jessa already has the built in audience. She needs to churn out content and especially content people will pay for (and people will...).

Shit. What comes after that? I was in that a month ago and had to place a ban on COVID-19 discussion in my personal life unless I initiated it. Otherwise I was going to lose friendships. That being said I got snapped at by a friend last week for considering once the restrictions are lifted immediately going to see the man I've been seeing. Said friend won't even leave their house to go for a drive around the neighborhood. The path between the front door and car door might have the 'rona. I am actually not kidding. That was the reason to not leave the house. It's not a contest as to whom can physical distance the best. Let me have the one thing I'm looking forward to!!!

So I introduced a friend to JRod a few weeks ago. And it spiraled from there. He asked me how exactly these people end up internet famous because having multiple kids isn't exactly a huge feat to pull off. Yeah... He didn't like the explanation.

I wonder how many of Jeremy's classmates are annoyed at his social media presence. Oh poor Jeremy, boo hoo. Staying at home. Can't jet off to some random location while we are supposed to be studying. Boo freaking hoo.

Yes that was one of the case studies I read and if we are seeing massive strokes in addition to respiratory failure, that's another layer of burden on the health care system. Plus that 39 year old hadn't regained speech by the time of publication. How are we supposed to conduct post-stroke rehab to the fullest while physical distancing? Time just had an excellent article about Hokkaido and how the government regrets the decision to lift measures too early. https://time.com/5826918/hokkaido-coronavirus-lockdown/ In an ideal world we could manage this without a full on lockdown. But gah, we are so far from that world that it is terrifying. There's going to be a lot of backlash regardless of what happens. No one is going to win. There is one thing I am certain of. Cockroaches may survive anything but humanity has been through some pretty tough times through history. They come pretty close. I know it's not any consolation to people who have lost loved ones to this disease. We will make it through somehow. And we will all have to rely on each other on the other side, regardless of what happened during this time.

Does anyone else play The Royal Romance on the Choices app? FeliciTEE reminds me of the baby. That kid was born looking like a toddler and hasn't aged one bit during the entire story. Logically I know Felicity isn't even 2 years old yet but she seems so much older than Giddy and Garrett.

I know you probably know this but the way it should be phrased is "We do not know yet if there is immunity, we have no evidence at this time. There may or may not be immunity. We need to conduct more studies to make a definitive statement on this." ...doesn't sound as good of a headline. I know we live in the Twitter generation of 140 characters or less and 24/7 news cycle and I think a lot of people forget this. Proper studies take time. Proper clinical trials take time. I'm just glad I'm not the one in charge of policy decisions. This feels like an impossible balance to strike with placating the population but keeping them healthy. I was reading case studies of patients in their 30s and 40s who tested positive having massive strokes. It is (so far) rare but the neurological damage is pretty massive for reasons they don't quite know yet. These are people that are supposed to go back and contribute to the economy. What happens to them? The one thing I hope people come away with this is not that "the government overreacted and took away my right to unlimited ice tea refills!!!" but that our society was woefully unprepared to handle even a minor crisis and we need to think about more safety nets for if/when this happens again. Eh. I guess I'm too hopeful and people will be like EFF YEAH! UNLIMITED ICE TEA!!! And learn nothing else from this experience.

Yeah... Stock up on sardine oil and change your name to Carol Baskins, my friend. I wasn't paying too much attention at the beginning (new job=busy) but my friends in pandemic planning warned me awhile ago this will only be the beginning and to not take this lightly whatsoever. We just lucked out this round. I've been wrong before and I will be glad to be wrong again. I'm not seeing any respite anytime soon. One of my friends got laid off from her fulltime teaching gig. Her school is preparing to go fully online for the fall and they don't require as many instructors. They're predicting enrollment is going to be down as well with students not willing to pay the same for online courses as in-person courses.

I have about 30 books in my bookshelf I still need to read. One of my neighbours was giving away books so I also snagged some. It's not even so much the energy but the time. Which is weird to say these days. By the time everything is said and done, it's 10 pm. Maybe I will be better organized next round of quarantine so I can read these books finally.

Happy birthday to everyone! 🎂 We got an email saying to prep for the fall term initially being online and then transitioning to in-person lectures as the term progresses. I'm debating if it is worth the extra income for the headaches it is going to cause. I'm so behind on everything I'm ahead. I thought this would prove that I'm capable with my projects and I would be awesomely productive. Yeah... In worried what my manager is going to say soon here.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
PikaScrewChu replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I think out of the married Duggars, they look among the worst. They are fortunate that the second pregnancy ended tragically and people have been tiptoeing around them as a result, otherwise they would be facing the same amount of backlash as the rest of the Duggars.
