  1. Dayum....I can’t watch. I’d be so tickled to be able to experience a dinner like that! Oh. People who find the Duggars delightful and support their brands have my insulted resentment forever.
  2. Bowties can be fun!!! I’m trying not to let a patriarchialist’s affinity for them affect my affection for them, and hope others will give them a similar break. Also, Jinger looks so different without a lot of eye makeup. I would not have recognized her immediately out of context. Also: lovely hair but gads! - that has to be uncomfortably hot in Laredo!
  3. Finally went to her website. Almost every photo in the portfolio gave me a sense of disorientation. Not sure why. Maybe too many lines and too little color, combined with lac of focal point? She wouldn’t be my choice if I had the money for her services.
  4. Went ahead and watched the one with the millennials — correction: I watched the scenes with Pumps. And those scenes were fun. Kay is a good other-Lee. And when they interview a local and the local is not shown to be stupid or ridiculous, that’s fun. As was the guy who eats beef for his teeth. Hee. But the rest of it? Could be edited down & the truly interesting bits fitted in-between the scenes with Pumps in them, & a local or 2. This is not a 60-minute (less ads) show. Too bad. I can’t see it continuing for another season. Too derivative, too bland &, well, kinda edgy & poking & bony, like Hard Jen. And I like Jen!—-but not as the show’s tentpole.
  5. I just visited friends who installed a dumbwaiter to get their laundry from the first to the 2nd & 3rd floors. They’re in their 50’s and their house has 11-foot ceilings. It makes total sense. Long before that visit, at home I had attached a cargo tie-down strap to the upstairs hallway banister. The other end of the tie-down has an attached hook, onto which I hang full laundry baskets. It’s not only safer for me to schlep laundry up and down stairs that way, but I’ve also wrangled small pieces of furniture and fairly large framed art pieces (none with glass, so far)! Materials & installation cost: $0! The po’ woman’s Dumbwaiter.
  6. And somewhere in middle ‘Merica, I just woke the cats, laughing out loud.
  7. LOL! Maybe she considers herself the Great 1% Savior Of The Oppressed (tm) !
  8. Def not Jenni. She wants her face plastered everywhere & is making it happen. I don’t watch enough of other realities to have an alternate suggestion.
  9. Linky? I don’t mean to belittle your distress, but that has got to be one of the current top three #21stcenturyproblems 8-D As to throw pillows—y'know, I started calling them “toss pillows” a couple years ago & I can’t remember why! #oldbroadmysteries 8-D
  10. If I want to revel in the Dubrow aesthetic, I’ll go to the nearest high-end luxury mall. Marble & onyx & towering ceilings for miles. If i want to be home, give me cozy & accessible, as so many have already said. Bingo bango bongo — Terror & Pleather are interesting but I’m glad I lack whatever it is that gives a person the drive to ACHIEVE! OWN! EXCEL!!! like that.
  11. So it’s true! Somebody had mentioned it and I thought, “Surely not.” Guess there will be shows focused on shiplap, rusty wall decor, Jimmy Don, Clint Harp, White subway tile, rusty silos, impossibly obedient & telegenic children, protecting the privacy of said children, and The Gaines Way Of Life. Hey, if it frees up time on HGTV for more original house & garden programming, I’m all for it !!! .... I just won’t watch it. I’m one of those freaks who is a nice person but never inclined to choose the Magnolia magazine to thumb through while I’m in line. It’s house design Groundhog Day! LOL
  12. Just about died snickering at Megan’s unrepentant eye-daggers thrown the skinny nanny’s way. Couldnt help but shrug off Jeff & Gage’s jealousy over Jenni scoring a house they’d coveted. Hey guys, if you really wanted to live large, you shoulda hitched your wagon to an MD. That said, the guys’ yearning and disappointment and nascent bitterness seemed quite genuine.
  13. Sweet baby potatoes! What the heck was that? I got so tired so fast of Jen’s minions laughing with predictable uproariousness at her little clevernesses that I desperately ff’ed to Pumps — and, as they say, didn’t laugh once. Ih, I smiled in recognition when Pumps declared she’d rather be braless & cozy at home than in the social swim. But after that, i got as far as her sarcastically playing at cheering Emily on — and I stopped the recording, erased it and cancelled the series record. Would love to have S1, all eps, on a dvd or something. Those were funny shows. These are not. Me & the ninjas — out.
  14. Here’s a thought: what if this is Sheldon’s revisionist history? What if it was *Mary* in bed with another man? What if it was the cute little Professor and Meemaw? Just enjoying my unwritten, alternate universes. 8-)
  15. Yass! I was impressed with YS S1E1 that George Sr., was most certainly NOT dumb “as a rock” or however BBT Mary described him. And neither she nor Sheldon on BBT ever remembered his heroism In standing up for what was right (and getting fired). Or they might have — I’ve not been a super fan of BBT. I’m with you and I’m ALL for Possibility 2!
  16. Georgie is smart enough to have a thriving tire business - I think all the kids are extremely bright, in their own ways; it’s Sheldon’s bumptious personality that makes him stand out.
  17. A bank associated with a major insurance provider makes top-line ergonomic chairs and adjustable desks (useable sitting or standing at almost-infinite adjustments) standard issue for ALL its back-office employees, even entry-level, unskilled clerks. And last I heard, the bank is doing very well. TLDR: flat joke, too easy *and* too “off.”
  18. I also loved that he’s planning to use it as a bargaining chip next time she’s mad at him!
  19. One more personal reaction to the show tonight. Mary’s cold shutdown “I don’t want to talk about it” upset me. I’m very close to a family that is breaking apart precisely because of that exact attitude - and words! - by a woman about Mary’s age & situation. What I’m saying is: the writers are getting this show *right* on in its depiction of a family heading into big trouble, and yet doing it subtly. Well done, if sadly.
  20. I just enjoy that the show acknowledges that while Sheldon is hecka smart, he’s by no means the smartest person in the world. The following is *not* about comparing & contrasting the shows: can you imagine grown Paige knuckling under to grown Sheldon? She doesn’t seem bothered by someone who’s *almost* as smart as she is. That’s possibly because she’s one of several super-intelligent people at the school for which her parents moved to Texas. Whereas, Sheldon never met a person his own age who’s a genius until Paige.
  21. I almost wish they had! Put Meemaw in her place, the old bat. Her professor-boyfriend is almost too good for her. But then she redeemed herself by giving him the hula-girl lamp. Thus sayeth BFON, who is herself an old bat — and therefore extra-hard in Meems. ;-)
