  1. I agree, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I live in the nexus of heat & humidity & just chuckled at the story of the Quebec’ker husband falling in love with southern MS. Either he lurvessss to sweat *or* he visited between November and — April ??? LOL
  2. Poor, poor little Monroe. I was just hoping that FO Jeff was an act, and that Sirius Jeff was the real deal. Guess not.
  3. I liked the slopey ceiling option too! Do you have a ceiling fan? It’s in the single digits where I am and I have a space heater going (electric fireplace - pictures of fire, LOL!) and my ceiling fan turned on low in the direction that pushes air back down. I’m actually barefooted and still comfy - wearing two shirts & longish pants, of course. Oh, @SueBee, I’ve had a care package in assembly ever since you so kindly mailed me the Mississippi souvenirs! I think I still have your street address and will endeavor to get it headed your way by week’s end!!!!
  4. I’ve gotten to the point where I record it. On playback, I mute the sound and look at the two house visits, then FF thru to the big reveal. Leave it on mute, turn on closed captions, and if anything is said about Ben having custom-made a furnishing, I might REW back to see the making-of the piece. Mesnwhile, I am digging DIY’s âMMaine Cabin Masters so much I don't ever care if there’s a PTV forum for it. It’s just 99% good watching. The cabin madters’ occasional forced laughter hardly annoys me at all in contrast to Erin & Ben’s preciousness. Along with Jim & Mallorie. Yep, guess I’m closing in on being over this show, heh!
  5. I was sorry they pulled out the holly tree. I mean, I get that it is fairly harmful (spiny leaves) but is there a chance it was replanted somewhere else? Foliage looked healthy, roots looked shallow. Guessing the Guays are renting it out as a B&B when they’re in Canada. Laurel must have a surplus by now! Editing: Never mind — I just googled and holly trees are fairly easily replanted and thrive. So, ok with them pulling it out.
  6. True story: last night my shoe hit a flat patch of dried pet-gunk (or something) on my wood floor and I nearly tripped. LOL I’m not kidding when I say I need to hold my ground about F L A T flooring — and also to damp mop all my floors more often!!!
  7. It might just be me, and I’m a sight older than the two home-owner couples I can recall that wound up with brick floors, but I would refuse. Flat out. Reasons being: there’s NO give when something falls - a heavy water tumbler that might survive a drop on wood will certainly shatter with brick. Cast iron could crack the brick, and I can imagine aluminum becoming dented out of shape. #2: As I’ve gotten older, I’ve increasingly appreciated - nay, required - truly flat floors. No throw rugs, no sills on doorway floors, certainly not the inherent unevenness of brick. I’m far from disabled (thank Heaven) but even I am more prone to tripping over the littlest things. Takeaway: Brick! It IS just for exteriors! 8-D
  8. I have laminate and like it and guess I need to get over the insults. Heh! I do appreciate the thought and individuality the crew put into the homes. But I’d be hard-pressed not to offer my opinion on a variety of their ideas. Guess when you’re lucky enough to be on the show, you’re happy to accept whatever they choose. I’d be smiling politely about removing the screens — and calling somebody to replace them as soon as the cameras stopped recording!!! 8-D
  9. 1) Why do the crew routinely rip out - or plan to rip out - screens on porches? I get the “aesthetics” but I also get “mosquitos.” 2) The Hogue House may be on the most coveted street but its lot sure doesn’t have the best view. Looked like a commercial building across the street. 3) Dining room table = work of art. 4) Ben & Erin look down their noses at laminate flooring (“it’s pictures of wood”) but install vinyl floor tile. Go figure.
  10. I was just going to crack wise that she should get herself a nice RV. But you don’t want a driver behind the wheel of a 45-foot rig distracted by bloody pillows, so, there goes that idea.
  11. Just watched this on demand and missed whatever it was Bonnie did to energize the bar business so much. Fun episode but I don’t want to watch the whole thing again since I can’t fast-forward. Would somebody please clue me in to Bonnie's Brilliant idea? Thanks, and I also love that Wendy comes from a mob family and she’s not wasting any words telling Christy to forget what she knows. The AA meeting women are easily 50% of what I love about this show!
  12. In her memoir, she describes her first encounter with Carolyn, when she and John arrived at a family vacation house where Carole & Anthony were already in residence. She says Carolyn approached her in a very friendly, warm way, IIRC called her “lamb” and Carole was obviously smitten. I’ve not experienced the kind of relationship where your beloved partner has a best friend/cousin and the four of you-all — including your boo’s bestie’s boo — hang out and get along well. Whatever’s true or false about whether both ladies considered the other “best” friends, the fact seems to remain that the four of them were close. And suddenly losing two of that quartet weeks before the expected loss of the boo...it was probably easier for Carole to say, “I lost my husband & both our best friends all at once.” Cheese! Am I defending Carole? There HAS been a tilt in the earth’s rotation!
  13. Heh, knowing that MIL Lee Radziwill was once caught in bed with Truman Capote, I doubt Princess Carole’s orientation / preferences would bother the older woman too much. As long as she’d been faithful to Anthony (RIP) or stayed within whatever mutual bounds they’d set.
  14. So? How was it? Someone on FB said a preview was available at HGTV.com.
  15. WTW??!! Now I’m wishing I’d DVR’ed it to see all this mess!!!! LOL
  16. @Mondrianyone, I don’t mean to say unkind things about any place but I am a 3-season kinda ninja and the summer heat and humidity — **shudder!!** I enjoyed when Lance would appear and Ashley would loosen up from whatever was stressing her, just by him being there. He was her “calming goat,” I think — a concept I only recently learned of: Horse tracks keep companion goats in some racehorses’ stalls since the horses are high-strung to begin with and nervous at race time.
  17. Was watching an episode - I think it was the client with the missing finger - and saw a helper for the first time ever. Cant remember if there’s anything in the VO about her though. I like the way Ashley - and sometimes Chase - are shown st a suppliers place so we can learn about the craft or product. The guy who made rocking toys and the glass blowers; or even craftsmen who work at one of the sites - like the brick masons. I used to really enjoy Home Town but am tiring of the increasing focus on Ben’s devout devotion to his lady, as well as on her multi-talents and exquisite divaness: “I’m a great belter of songs but I am an introverted, delicate flower and arentvwe both just beyond wonderful?” - as Ben anticipates her every whim. Or maybe I need to stop reading about them. Ha! i still really enjoy the design and restoration and sense of conservation on both shows. But I’d far prefer to spend time with the Cabin Masters, who I guess just seem way more like they’re regular folks when the cameras stop. And also, choosing between Mississippi and Maine ... not a moment’s hesitation: Maine.
  18. Can’t imagine why they wouldn’t have tried a second season with Jen, Pumps and a New #3 — guess bravo thinks spite & fights and tired plotsxwith harried designers sells air time better than just general goofiness among, y’know, actual friends. I FF’ed thru everything but the few scenes with Pumps. Even those were flat. Good night, Sweet Former Princess of a show. I wish I hadn’t erased the S1 episodes from my DVR. Who knew?
  19. Whose? Jen’s? i forgot to DVR it. (I can’t watch it unless I have the FF option to get to the parts with Pumps.)
  20. Indeed. Would it kill them to throw some Home Town on the screen? I suppose The Algorithms tell them FU brings in more ads/viewers.
