  1. I like both Aarti and Damaris but I think Aarti is overexposed right now on Food Network (plus when was the last time she actually cooked anything on air - but of course Food Network is really no longer about cooking, is it?). Maybe Lila's breathiness is a result of nerves?
  2. They really did change that house from top to bottom! I couldn't believe they took a beautiful old farmhouse and turned it into a rather cookie-cutter house that you could find in any upscale community - but the bride loved it so I guess that was her choice. I liked what they did the week prior with barn better. I understand gutting and renovating the interior but was sad to see that they tore that beautiful front porch off. Maybe the bride just wanted to be on television? Her brother is a pretty big artist (and the whole family was so sweet) who was paying for all the renovations - perhaps after her health scare they wanted to let her have her moment in the spotlight.
  3. Watching Anaiah fall apart was so painful! She was such a sweetheart but nothing went well for her (and I think cole slaw and salad were both extremely difficult!). I was glad Oscar got his win. I suspect Elsie - who is younger than the rest of the competitors - is trying to show out a little bit. The other competitors seem to like her though so she must not be bratty.
  4. With blown glass all it would have taken was one swing of the clackers and there would have been glass everywhere!
  5. That's true. I think I was nitpicking because I hadn't had enough coffee this morning.
  6. I agree this was a great story but I wasn't that impressed with the finished house...although I loved the big laundry room. I didn't like the peach paint int he kitchen (but I'm not a fan of peach in general), and I wasn't a huge fan of the acoustic tiles (I agree the tiles needed to be there but I didn't like the pattern) upstairs. However the homeowner (Angela?) seemed to love everything and that's what is important. It was interesting that the door to the stairs was right where they cut into the wall. I guess the older son will never want to come and spend the night since they did make the third bedroom into the laundry room. Perhaps he can bunk upstairs with his younger brother. The cat was a sweetie who definitely wanted to be owned.
  7. Her rescue is still with the PandaPaws umbrella. Just different location and I don't see her featuring special needs animals as much...which she might still be doing - I just don't focus on her site that much. I really liked this show and I liked her too. Animal Planet really did viewers dirty by getting rid of all of their good shows.
  8. I liked the transformation of the little cedar cabin. I wasn't sure about painting the exterior but I think that it looked very nice at the reveal. The interior looked huge compared to what it was initially - who knew white paint could make a space grow (plus taking that stove and bumping it out where it wasn't taking up any of the available space in the room was a huge asset). I'm normally not a fan of kitschy style decor but the plate rack that was made looked great in that space and also fit in with the style of the decor. Not sure I would trust my early teens boy with that much freedom but apparently this woman knows her child and feels comfortable with him having his own access in and out of the house (although I felt him having his own kitchenette was a bit much - I would have rather seen what they did with his bathroom which was barely shown...or I slept through it). I did like the murphy bed/movie screen.
  9. Since the house has apparently been in continuous use (it wasn't derelict and seemed to be in good shape) I would suspect that an HVAC system was installed a long time ago. After all, this is Laurel, Mississippi and it is steamy hot in the summer...LOL!. I was an old mom so the notion of filling my home with a horde of college students send me into minor hysterics, but I remember when my sister had her daughter when she was young her house was always filled with friends and my niece blissfully slept right through it all. This couple seems to enjoy that aspect of his job - interacting with students and inviting them into their home (plus it might be part of his position) so it doesn't look like an obstacle for them. When my daughter was in college the President had a very young son who was always on campus and out and about with his dad and the students just loved that interaction. and so apparently did the little boy. I liked the fact that the man wanted to preserve the hall because of the historic integrity of the house. The solution to put the w/d in the pantry and the pantry in the cabinets was a really good one. I liked how they kind of separated the public and private areas of the house, although I was a bit confused...was the renovated bathroom a shared space for both the public and the two bedrooms? Were there separate entrances? Sometimes I would love to see floorplans. That is one of my favorite Maine Cabin Masters things is that you see a rough drawing of the alterations that will be made to the floorplan of the remodeled cabin.
  10. True. Painting the doors black would not have made any sense in that house. The only reason I can think it was even suggested was to have something to do with giving it some character, but I think it would have just been obnoxious. I know that Fran Drescher siimply did "herself" in this episode (honestly have never been a huge fan although my daughter was watched The Nanny multiple times), but I just like the episodes where the celebrities really get involved in the actual work and seem to enjoy the process.
  11. Not a fan of open shelves either, for the same reasons. I also question the white upholstery but I'm sure that the housekeeper that this woman undoubtedly employs can keep it clean...LOL!
  12. I thought that this was one of the better renovations. I loved the deck with the porch swing (and what an amazing view!). The closet seemed a bit excessive to me but that was what the homeowner wanted (even Jenny thought it was a bit too much) and I liked the way it was split between his and hers. That mother of pearl looking tile in the shower was beautiful - I wouldn't want it personally but I can appreciate the look of it. It is obvious that this couple wanted ostentatious. I thought it was a shame that they tore out all of the old bookshelves in the library (and those did go into the dumpster) but perhaps they were installed in such a way as to make it impossible for them to come out otherwise. Oh, and I really liked the coffee table/gaming table - what a great idea if you have to put up a puzzle in process or a game in process. That blue stove was expensive but of gosh was it gorgeous! I would never want to get it dirty though.
  13. So we do get one more season, right? Not going to lie - I still watch Grey's and have also enjoyed Station 19, so I'll be sorry to see it go. Never watched 9-1-1 so not sure I will start now. Apparently they both will premiere March 14.
  14. Fran Drescher drove me crazy in her episode. She spent all of her time mugging for the camera! The homeowners seemed thrilled with the home (honestly the "behind the scenes" stuff they did to the house was very impactful - otherwise that house was going to fall down sooner or later) but it was too bad they couldn't do anything to make the kitchen more spacious.
  15. My only thought/question about the stainless steel hot tub is that isn't it going to be too hot to get in during the summer? Won't that metal heat up (I'm talking about the area around the hot tub - obviously the temperature inside can be regulated)? Otherwise I liked this house and I also liked the first house - either of them would have been lovely. Maybe they will just cannonball in over the edge.
  16. She has moved (I think to Michigan). I follow her on Facebook and she seems to be living a whole new life, although of course still involved with rescue. It seems that she does more coordination between rescues in her new location. Of course I could just be misinterpreting. This really was a good show. I have a t-shirt and everywhere I go people ask me what it is about.
  17. I liked the use of the colored glass in the wind chimes but did they use real greenery? Won't it die? I would have picked the other house also but the house they chose was probably a better value over the long run because of the size of the lot. I thought the renovation of the kitchen in the non-chosen house was a lot more impactful than throwing in a peninsula.
  18. The latest episode I saw was for a couple who met in high school when she was a foreign exchange student and they reconnected and are now married. They lived in a nondescript tract home probably built in the 70s or 80s with the typical small bathrooms. I thought Jenny did a pretty decent job and the best part of the house was the back yard which overlooks a park (was formerly a swamp). They already had a patio but it was low so it was raised and also a nice fire pit was added. They also stole a little room from the living room to make the en suite bath larger (almost identical to my last house and something I had contemplated doing).
  19. I also agree with you BAForever. I think the older girls are over Kody and his mistreatment of them and their mothers. I think the ones (adult offspring) that still maintain a relationship with Kody and Robyn are using them for their own agendas. Can't blame them - Kody has been using them for years. I agree - Christine is over the top - but she's living her best life and personally I believe she is growing up for the first time in her entire adult life. She is having to take responsibility for her own life and choices but realizing they are hers to claim - something I suspect she hasn't had in years. Janelle - she's just an ocean of calm. I think when she finally came to the conclusion that she was done it was a relief to her. Meri still seems to be grappling with her own life but she was in "captivity" the longest. Honestly she probably is in the best place since she has two existing business ventures to fall back on. I wish all of them well.
  20. Which says a lot now that I think about it. He surrounded himself with women for most of his adult life...when the kids were young he could manipulate them and convince them he was god in his own home, but now that the kids (especially the boys) are older and have opinions of their own he wants nothing to do with them. It is easiest to be the smartest man in the room when you have no competition.
  21. I think Manon wanted to win so badly that she didn't really show much personality...that girl was intense! Having said that I agree - Lottie is the best. I have rewatched her season over and over again (yes, I get that bored and that is one of my favorite seasons anyway) and I like her every time. Anthony has changed his look a lot - his hair is a lot more relaxed and he was wearing glasses. He looked great (not that he didn't on his season - he just looked different - plus he went out fairly quickly). I though Chig would win...he just continues to get better and better.
  22. We use an app to draw names (I think it is even called drawnames.com). Yep, if there's a way to screw something up these people excel at it!
  23. I am from Texas and I have been told I do not have a strong accent (even worse - I'm from Mesquite which is the rodeo capital of the world according to the sign when you enter town). My accent tends to fluctuate depending on how distracted or tired I am. I suspect Justine, when she is being interviewed, tends to think and talk more slowly, which probably makes her accent less noticeable...at least that is how it tends to work for me. Y'all've harped on Nancy not complimenting Sharrod so much that I even noticed when she praised his brownies last night...LOL! I think he gets less Jesse attention because he seems to be a very quiet guy and doesn't seem to like the camera and microphone stuck in his face - kind of a shame because he's a very nice looking guy with a wonderful, quiet smile. I'm hoping for a Kevin or Thoa win. Thoa started out slow but she seems to be getting stronger as the competition goes along.
  24. Kody doesn't have to profess to be angry at Meri because she has maintained a relationship with the Queen, whereas Christine openly dissed Robyn (who could blame her?).
  25. I usually don't get annoyed by contestants but last night Justine was really arrogant. I knew she would pick Kevin and Javier for her team - who wouldn't - but you could tell she thought they were a shoo-in for the win and she had no problem saying it...loudly. So sad to see Javier go but I was wondering how that pastry was going to cook all the way through when Ashley's pastry in the first round was raw and it wasn't nearly as thick as Javier's was, not to mention her putting her pastry for the final round back in the oven. Having said that his tree looked really cool though. I was honestly surprised that he went instead of the other guy since he didn't meet the challenge. Nancy is not good at emulating a Boston accent and should give up trying.
