  1. Oh most definitely true...the ins and outs of these relationships have baffled me for years.
  2. Thank you. Galveston is one of my favorite places to be so this show is one of my favorites.
  3. Why would Janelle want to sit next to Kody? If I were here I would have gone off on him because I would have thought that his actions had a direct effect on his children and now they are dealing with one of the consequences. Janelle is a much more gracious woman that I would ever be.
  4. They are advertising a new series where they buy a hotel and renovate it - not sure when it is supposed to start but definitely looking forward to it (I see it advertised on YouTube TV).
  5. I don't remember much about the specific episode, but I would definitely think of central air as a necessity...LOL! If they were using room unit air previously it might not be that much more of a bill.
  6. Is Anna the Greek girl? If so she did not do the igloo cake. I'm still sorting out the bakers... There's Steven, dark haired and glasses, excellent baking skills Robert - is he the kind of chubby-faced guy who made the broken purple butterflies (but at least they looked like a bug!) Alex - French guy Anna - Green girl? Two blonde girls whom I haven't figured out yet (but apparently one of them is Sabrina) Drawing a blank on any other contestants... Those flags were ugly and distracting and should have been left off because they ruined the looks of many of those baked alaskas. In my humble but accurate opinion. Maybe that's why they weren't mentioned.
  7. I think it depends on the market where you're at. Before the current housing boom in Texas I never bought a house for more than $110,000 - and I am talking about 3 bedroom, 2 bath houses, including purchasing the plot of land it was sitting on. I find the current price of houses in other markets (and indeed where I previously lived) appalling and totally overblown. Both my former homes were considered "custom" when they were new builds, both had fireplaces, nice yards, etc. $150,000 for that 2 bedroom house, not including land, seemed to be the most reasonable price I had seen in a long time. Plus Ben and Erin's costs are covered by production if this show follows the norm of other reality home-building shows.
  8. I agree with you, but actually it is the children's parent or legal guardian who are forcing them into the exploitative situation. What I find rather strange is that for the most part the designers appear to be very respectful of the female models but let a hot male model in the room and the floor must become slippery with all the drooling that occurs!
  9. I had never heard of a hand pie until I started watching baking shows. I was raised with fried pies (which are the best thing ever) but never heard it referred to as a hand pie. Darn, didn't know there were two episodes. I thought Sandro deserved to go home simply because he did not work with his partner - he went ahead and iced his cake without taking into consideration this was a team challenge and the cakes were supposed to be cohesive. Perhaps his definition of cohesive was different from what the judges wanted. Plus he barely got his bubbles on the cake (don't get me wrong - I wouldn't be unhappy to see Zoe go - she is kind of a chalk on a board person to me).
  10. I think the fact that they did not have to buy the land the house sat on helped keep the cost of the build down considerably. They actually did talk about the former owners - how they purchased the land and built affordable rent houses on it. I can't remember much else - they apparently owned a business in town. Hard to make a rendition of a house that hadn't been created yet - it appeared to me that they discussed what the homeowners wanted and then she started creating, but I kind of agree with her that it was fun to see the reaction when the people didn't have a clue. (I'm pretty sure I would be poking around after hours every day to see what was going on.)
  11. I'm looking forward to seeing the end product although I call foul on them starting the sheep pen when there is so much to be done. I think that was just done to show how much Jenny likes sheep! I'm sure it will turn out to be lovely. I like the concept of the homeowners expanding their business to protect against future disasters like the pandemic. I think that her giving Dave a hard time about his truck is just part of the dynamic between the two of them. He never seems to take it personally or gets offended - more he just seems to laugh about it. He also said that he was going to ship that truck back to the United States so obviously this isn't a one-time thing for him to make odd purchases. Honestly I think having one's own vehicle would beneficial if they are going back and forth.
  12. That tiny home was really cute. In the meantime they could rent it out for extra income.., LOL - I got the impression that woodworker dad thought his son and daughter-in-law were a little extra (in a very loving way). The cabinet door pulls would drive me crazy - would mess with my sense of order that they didn't match - but those mushroom ones were so cute! I also liked the color of the cabinets.
  13. They really did a good job of making this new house look not like a new build (and yes, on Maine Cabin Masters they are always talking about how much quicker a new build than is an old build - who would think?). I actually thought the first rendition of it was cuter than the eventual final product (it had a curved piece over the doorway and Erin replaced it with an awning which made it square) but otherwise it was truly a cute house. There was not a separate office by the way - as I understood it they will use the second bedroom as an office until they have children and hopefully by then can expand the home (or maybe move their tiny home nearby and he can use that for an office...LOL!). It was a very satisfying build - the high ceilings made the house look much larger than its almost 800 sf size.
  14. I've seen a lot of beautiful black women do their baby hair this way but have never seen an entire side of their head dedicated to this style - learn something new all the time. Honestly I did find it distracting but this was not a commentary on the fashion, just the fact that I didn't care for it, just as sometimes Nancy's hair is distracting. The point of the show is the bakers and not the judges in the first place. OTOH - nothing to comment on about Duff's hair...LOL!
  15. I'm so glad you mentioned Kardea's hair - I was the same - what was that? Was it hair? Was it a tattoo? It was distracting and IMO unattractive (and a shame because the rest of her hair was super cute).
  16. I haven't watched this episode yet but I have to say that I dislike that "nail a mantle to the wall" aesthetic. It looks contrived to me. I understand that fireplaces don't work and have to go away - so make them go away! I realize that isn't everybody's thoughts - only mine.
  17. Did they specify that the fruit was spring fruit or was it simply citrus flavors? I kinda like Nancy although her hair and makeup were a little extra in this episode.
  18. Perhaps because there were ample windows in the closet and the office? I like a dark bedroom so that wouldn't be an issue for me sleeping-wise (I live in an RV and during the summer my windows are covered in order to keep as much of the heat out as possible so I'm used to living in a black hole).
  19. I don't follow the fashion world but I would suspect that models are used to being viewed only as mannequins for clothes and appear comfortable with undressing in a crowded room. I would suspect that is the norm - especially backstage at a fashion show where they have to change outfits quickly. As for designers running butt naked to the bathroom - not a clue.
  20. Same. I've always kind of thought that Jeremiah was the one who loved being in the limelight whereas Nate is simply happy just designing and hanging out with their kids.
  21. I think that is just part of their dynamic between the two of them - perhaps exaggerated a little for the show. It is obvious that they have a great relationship - I just think he's a lot more laid back than she is. They do have a full plate with their large family, their businesses and the farm - good thing that there is plenty of family around that seems to love helping out!
  22. When I lived in a 2 story house with my daughter I rarely went up the stairs. Of course the fact that she was super messy had a lot to do with that...what I couldn't see I couldn't get angry and frustrated about...LOL!
  23. I hated to see Levi leave since he had consistently been at the top most of the competition. His day just tanked and he never could seem to come back from his mistakes - which in the past he seemed to have had no issue with but I guess the pressure finally got to him. I suspect he would have made an awesome volcano. Oscar should have just left off the trees because his volcano was beautiful (he could have put a black wasteland at the bottom and said the volcano had erupted...LOL). He is one contestant I would like to see come back on another version of the show (and also Levi). Tasi's life seems almost idyllic. Doesn't she go to a school that studies ocean life? That is just so cool! Lilah is a future cheerleader and already has the huge bow to show for it (it is inevitable when you live in Texas (I'm just kidding - sort of)). I want to taste her cake because it just sounded delicious - especially where the judges said the caramel had seeped into the cake and made it like candy - nothing bad there!
  24. I think price was more the issue than the style of house. $50,000 is a lot of money for someone on a budget (I sure couldn't afford a $250,000 house!). I too thought the first house was a better deal plus that was great income potential if in the future the grandmother was no longer in the house. I think Erin is a lot more confident now than she was in the past, plus not being pregnant makes her able to do more physical work. I believe when the show started she was very introverted and it was very difficult for her to be on camera and she has over the years become more comfortable. (I too like her friendship with Mallorie.) Yes, the prices of the houses have increased but that is true for a lot of places. I know a house I purchased in 2007 for $110,000 sold for $253,000 in 2021. In order to improve a neighborhood you have to get people to invest in it - that seems to be a premise on a lot of these renovation shows. What Ben and Erin have done (and other people in Laurel) has made it a destination. A couple of years ago I was heading from Texas to Florida and chose to go a certain route so that I could spend the night in Laurel "just because." It is a charming town to visit, even on a Monday and in the rain (I found out that a lot of the restaurants are closed on Monday and definitely closed after 6...LOL - life in a small town!). But people were welcoming and friendly and I would go back for a longer stay.
