  1. I actually thought this season premier was pretty awful. Ryan's hair, hmm. My initial reaction was, "oh, I might like that." But the longer I looked at it, the worse it got, and actually started looking like a bad wig. The Tool Time reference? Hated it. I was hoping that the final season might actually get better, but if the premier is any indication, I won't be trying too hard to view it.
  2. I've had three dentists as an adult, and all three performed root canals, in their office. The only secondary practitioner I've ever had to use was an oral surgeon for impacted wisdom teeth removal.
  3. I've had more root canals than I can count, the first at 12-yrs old, and most are now in the landfill. Poor dental health was my birthright. In any event, I've never had to go to a separate dentist to have the work done. Just had to have another done in April, and the root canal and crown were completed in-house, in two back-to-back visits.
  4. She died last night - tanya-roberts-dead-at-65-a-day-after-premature-announcement
  5. My house, every day, but only 2 thankfully.
  6. I don't know why you couldn't substitute cream of celery or even cream of chicken soup.
  7. Perhaps people feel it's like a reverse contact tracing sort of thing. It's smoother than saying "don't panic if you were near Uncle Sam recently, he didn't die of Covid". 🤷‍♂️
  8. We trim ours for much the same reasons as everyone else. To protect the cats and the people they own. Scratchers aid in removing the outer sheath of the nail, but doesn't necessarily dull the tip. I have seen kitties become caught up in textiles when the nails haven't been dealt with (Mommy's fault), and I have also medicated cat scratches. In the interest of the health and safety of our cats, which are family pets, they are 100% indoor cats.
  9. Same here. The primary reason I haven't is fear, lol. I already have Netflix and Amazon Prime video, so I'm not unfamiliar with streaming, but I have a fear of not having access to "local" channels, and those with which we watch frequently. The thought of putting absolutely everything aside to study and bone up on what seems like thousands of possibilities gives me high anxiety, lol. It's an issue I have to address, I know I do. Our cable bill (TV & Internet) is north of $200 now, and that just doesn't work for me anymore, but it seems like one could easily reach that number with all of the streaming services coming on board. Ack!!
  10. This is very similar to my Comcast experience in general, but specifically, when I had to move Mom from her upstairs apartment to the downstairs apartment, in.the.same.building, it took a minimum of two weeks to get her service straightened out. We moved her a year later to an assisted living building, where thankfully we don't have to deal with the service providers directly, but good old Comcast is still billing me for the equipment THAT I RETURNED and have a receipt for, over a year later. I continue a year later, to throw the bills in the trash. She's 89 years old, can't see, can't hear...you all go ahead an sue her for that $30 bux. I dare you.
  11. That's because it no longer exists. 'Customer Service' is a myth; a legend of a different time. Everything has pretty much become self-service. "Here's your stuff, go to the website and figure out how to use it/install it." "Here's your $300 widget...owner's manual? No, there is no owner's manual included...you have to log on to www.gofuckyourself.com and learn how to use it/install it." If you have a problem, call our tech support line at 800.FUC.KOFF and our technician who may or may not (probably not) speak your native language will proceed to go through a script reading session which will make you want to stab your own carotid artery.
  12. Comcast is the single worst company for customer service in the history of companies with customer service. That's it. That's the post.
  13. I have been the cat claw trimmer of record for every cat that has ever owned me, and I can tell you that in my experience, they have never gotten used to it to the point where they don't fuss and squirm to get away. My current two have been getting my mani/pedi treatments for nearly 15 years now, with about a 99.999% pain free success rate, but it's still a bit of a wrestling match, lol. I flip them on their backs and sort of wedge them between my hip and the arm of the chair, and make quick work of it, all the while reminding them what a good mommy I am for not declawing them like the "good old days." They're not having it. It's still less hassle than putting them in a carrier and taking them somewhere to pay to have it done. Their love of car riding is even less than their love of mani/pedis.
  14. It really is stunning to me just how unaware she is about how awful she is. I have a mean streak, I tend to be confrontational, I too often won't accept 'no' for an answer, and I guess (according to my husband) I won't let things go, BUT, I know all of these things about myself, and am continually striving to moderate, often unsuccessfully. Point is, I would have to experience a complete existential shift, or maybe survive getting mowed down by a transit bus, to put myself out there as some sort of role model for human behavior. It constantly amazes me that there are so many women/people who will fawn over celeb-u-dolts, to the detriment of the rest of us. Maybe if her Instagram followers would wake up and quit telling her and other "influencers" (gah!) how fanfuckingtastic they are despite all evidence to the contrary, our society would stand a chance. I won't live to see it.
  15. Devil's advocate here. With the year that retailers have dealt with, I'm going to try and be understanding that they do any and all they can to spark sales, like merchandising Valentines Day product in late December. It is only six weeks away.
  16. It's a sub forum that is in the same forum as this one, the "Everything Else" forum. I copied the URL from the page I'm on, and it left the specific post below, but if you click on the Chit-Chat heading, it will take you there.
  17. The recipe I linked has a butter/flour/brown sugar/pecan crumble that you make and sprinkle before baking, and that is all. I added small pats of butter across the top of that. I know what you mean about the sticky version - that's what my mom's were like. She would slice the canned yams and lay them in the glass casserole, then add some sort of a glaze that would make them very sticky. Not sure what she used. May have just been brown sugar and butter. I'll ask her, but she may not remember. The recipe up there^ is for mashed potatoes.
  18. Yes, they're very hard! I use them, but sometimes when it's a busy meal prep, the shortcuts are welcome! Yes, I guess I hijacked the thread, sorry. I guess Chit Chat would be a better place.
  19. Alto Reed succumbs to colon cancer at 72. bobseger/photos I'm with Bob. His work on Turn The Page is hauntingly beautiful.
  20. I like sweet potatoes, but not marshmallows, so they do not go into any sweet potato casserole in my house! Did this one for Christmas, if you're inclined to try the sweet potato without the marshmallow nonsense. Hint - I would suggest cutting, if not all but eliminating the white sugar from the recipe. To me, it isn't needed. Nuther hint - if you wish to skip the prep work with the fresh potatoes, you can use the canned yams. I used one lg. (40oz) and one sm. (15-16oz?) can, drained. Worked just fine. allrecipes.com/recipe/15633/gourmet-sweet-potato-classic
