  1. Ditto phrases like circle back and words like workaround. None are brand new, but definitely enjoying a renaissance.
  2. With deference to @supposebly (your ^upthread lesson about the evolution of grammar 👏), today's peeve is trendy phrases that go from zero to 60 in a flash. Current example is now heard by talking heads (usually sports-related in my case) using "to your point", at every possible opportunity. It's like a favorite new toy. Just me? Okay then.
  3. With the exception of unhealthy hoarding situations, I would consider anyone who prefers the company of cats to perhaps that of 2-legged mammals, to be someone displaying good judgement, and not to be mocked.
  4. Just remember, if we (mostly others though, right?) didn't do annoying things, we wouldn't have this delightful forum thread.
  5. I maintain that written communication can easily be misinterpreted. When you aren't engaged verbally or better yet visually, you miss inflection & tone, facial movments, and many other physical cues that are better indicators of meaning and emotion. Abbreviated lingo and emojis can only convey so much. I mourn for the generations that will abandon physcally interpersonal communication, which I fear is on the horizon.
  6. I'm curious @SilverStormm - How much time would you estimate it takes to complete the decorating of a cupcake like the examples above?
  7. Agree! Logic would tell me that the bigger, more "expected" schools would benefit from the tp, but I'm not really a student of any of it. I tend to be an underdog rooter, so I'm loving it!
  8. Started a topic as I couldn't find one suitable to post this interesting story, an opinion piece on the current state of college athletics. Hope it's allowed. notre-dame-football-athletics-director-jack-swarbrick-president-john-jenkins-new-york-times-nil
  9. I utilize canned beets, and don't find them mushy.
  10. Penn State's Micah Shrewsberry reported to be next Notre Dame men's basketball coach. notre-dame-closing-deal-with-psu
  11. I've used canned potatoes in various forms (diced, sliced, and whole) off and on for years. My mom (a relatively awful cook) used them for 'fried potatoes', and I've done that maybe once, and won't again, lol. I use the diced in casseroles/soups as a time saver, and they are perfectly suitable for that imo. I have also (carefully) skewered the whole potatoes as a component in grilled shish kabobs.
  12. Yes or key & the period, simultaneously for a pop-up menu.
  13. The $gazillion-dollar$ "health" industry, summed.
  14. Or quote the post and add however many you like, from sites like this, where you simply copy and paste them to your post. getemoji.com
  15. Not as egregious as my accidental usage of corn starch instead of powdered sugar on cookies a few years ago. 🤦‍♀️ Yeah, labels are awesome.
  16. I think I'm your husband, which is awkward since I'm a woman. My own husband might be put out. Eeks!
  17. Terribly sorry @Yogisbooboo64. Just the worst.😢
  18. Awesome info! Thanks for answering.
  19. Must admit that I've not heard of boxty, so I'm no help. Now I'm off to find out! Edit - okay, I'm familiar with potato pancakes, but have honestly never heard of them referred to as boxty. Still no help as I haven't made them. Good luck!
