Father Gabriel: Knockin on Heaven's Door
CletusMusashi replied to Pete Martell's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
Until next week, when we find out he was near an open gate, saw a herd of zombies 2000 feet away, and was so scared that he climbed a tree and left the gate open. Much as I like having him out of my sight, I don't trust him out of my sight. He's worse than Carl used to be. -
One thing that worries me is that, of course there are going to be all kinds of flaws. But who the hell are Rick's group to say "We know better than you how to keep a place functional." Their own track record sucks. Sure, they know some useful things, and by all means they should teach what they can. But maybe a place that's stayed intact for two years is working better than they think it is. I don't want to see "Well, this leader turned out to be bad, so lets burn the whole place down and wander aimlessly for another half season." real life has bad leaders. Real life has crappy supervisors, who, in many real life jobs such as cop or soldier, get people killed. But you don't have a revolution every single time, because the new regime isn't going to be perfect either. Rick isn't a politician, though. He's a fighter. And what he's best at doing is fighting for quick solutions to small immediate threats. The most interesting thing they could do with him would be having him play detective for a while, and shaking up the power behind the power. Any Discworld readers here? Rick turning into a sort of Sam Vimes to Deanna's Lord Vetinari could give us some very satisfying short stories within the larger arc. I fear my hopes are too high, though. Nonetheless, count me as happy that at least they're doing some kind of a story again. I was getting so sick of "walk down the road, fight a few zombies, walk some more..." It feels good to again have something on my screen to speculate about.

Speaking of nicknames, anybody got one for the new location? I'm getting really tired of typing "Alexandria."

Speculation Without Spoilers
CletusMusashi replied to ghoulina's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
I think it would be refreshing if for once they didn't thin the herd by randomly killing a bunch of "extras." Maybe Rick and some other core members will decide Alexandria is not such a good location after all, and will again take to the road in order to move into, say, The Smithsonian Museum or something. (Abraham could sit in Archie's chair and call Eugene a meathead. Daryl could put on Fonzie's jacket. Rick could have an alpha male staring contest with Dillinger's penis...) And some others decide to stay behind. Or, vice versa. Rick stays, and others leave. They'd better kill Father PP, though. Bonus points if he's trying to pass the collection plate and gets struck by lightning. -
If any character has ever had grounds to argue about being given a "mammy" role, it was poor Tyreese, who is spinning in his grave every time Rick tries to handle Judith. The only racial trope I've see them really playing with Michonne was more along the lines of "Proud Exotic Warrior Sidekick" or something like that. ( You know, because black people are so rare and exotic. In Georgia.) And now with her questioning Rick more, I think she's broken out of that mold.

Traveling by road during the day. Not setting traps and waiting. Whenever they've had a somewhat stable base of operations, Daryl has found hunting to be more productive than scavenging. Remember, I'm not necessarily talking about deer. There's only so much that zombies can do to affect the squirrel and bird populations.
-
If there's not a large zombie population around, meat could be very plentiful. Especially if they're using a lot of small game traps. Or maybe the town rat-catcher is also the town dog food manufacturer. Wait, dogs don't eat acorns? Not even baby dogs?
-
I want to see more of the town's infrastrusture. What crops are they growing? Do they have any domestic food animals? Is there still any semblance of an economic system? How have they been policing the place before Rick? Please tell me it wasn't the Douchey Boys. What about religion? Is FPP the only minister in town? Is he going to unite them all under the First Church of Urinology? Dawn's group will either be bad and get killed by Rick, or bad and get killed by zombies, or good and get killed by zombies. No big surprises there. But while they're around, I want to see some details about them. ETA: I meant "Deanne's" group. Thanks to kikismom for catching that one.
-
So, is Daryl using the toilet? Or just dropping little surprises all over the neighbor's front lawns?
-
She climbs over a completely unguarded wall. There's not exactly a secret gate to Hogwarts involved.
-
I assume the filming indicates that she is showing these films to others. There's always more than one person at the top, whether you see them or not.

Carol: One Day You Just Change
CletusMusashi replied to David T. Cole's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
So does anybody else think Gun Cart Girl was making eyes at her? -
"Evacuation" may not be the most accurate of terms. "Ceremonial murder/dismemberment" might be a more accurate description of what we've seen out there.
-
They had to make sure it was babyproofed. No miniature katanas near the wall socket, no small choking hazards mixed into the acorn pile, that kind of thing.
-
Every bit of criticism either one of them gives the other one in that scene is true. And neither one seems at all hurt by it. That's saying something. Especially if he takes the damned shower.
-
I wish. But is he really so prescient that he started emo-ing up months before they ever saw the place?
-
I predict Daryl will become the newest member of the local teen clan.
-
Maybe the possum is just playing possum. Eventually Daryl will be chained up unconscious in the Obligatory Big Damned Room of Evil, and Mr. Mangy will suddenly "wake up" and fetch Carol. Along with Eugene and a fire hose to wake up Daryl.
-
How many razor blades did Rick go through? He snipped like five times, then lathered up and started shaving. Did he end up having to borrow the katana?
-
Aaron and Eric know what's up. Somebody needs to get drunk with them and see what information they can extract. But most of the group these days have no alcohol tolerance. I nominate Abraham.
-
What is up with this appalling new trend of them allowing women to wear pants? I am deeply offended. Until recently, "Talking Dead" was a show that I could rely on to, if nothing else, follow the Fox news/ Original Star Trek/ Xena: Warrior Princess rule that, if you've got legs, you show 'em. And Alanna Masterson, based on what she's shown previously on that couch, has the best legs on the entire cast. And it's not exactly a cast of fuggos. "Talking Dead" is supposed to be the hour where they make it up to me for looking at Abraham in a child-sized wife beater, god damn it.

S05.E12: Remember – Pre-Air Speculation and Live Chat
CletusMusashi replied to HalcyonDays's topic in S05
OK, Daryl's not a feral dog. He just doesn't like assholes. Or baths.
