  1. Deadpool 2 (2018). I was debating whether I should see this or not, given the fact that I found the first part meh, and I got to say, the script in this one has more quality (either that, or one can of beer helped a lot to enjoy this 😀) than the script of the first part. And it felt more... I don't know, mature perhaps? While I rated all these years ago Deadpool only six out of ten, this one - solid 8/10. But the most enjoyable part? The credits lulz.
  2. Hooray, I see that the screenwriters in the past saw my ep2 rant and decided to act accordingly. See, now this is why, Ryan, you do not turn your back at an enemy that you just shurikened (battaranged, whatever). Because he's still conscious! I wanted more Zasz. Now he was the most interesting villain since Alice, and he is now in jail. Booooo! You suck, Ryan! Ah, I see that they are going down OUAT route of your major villains being tied up in everything. Well, yeah, I suppose, there was a leevay in the timeline for the writers to go, oh, but she was not always with Mouse. She actually for five years was on an island meditating and shit! So, either Safayah is lying or Kate is alive, and, what... either we are going to get a recast (and Bat Girl gonna get her own spin-off, cause, notice that the article named her Bat Girl), or in the end Safayah gonna kill Kate, and we will be right back were we left off).
  3. The Lighthouse (2019). Either way, the movie was interesting up until an hour mark, afterwards, it just became overly too weird for me. On the other hand, I guess Dafoe had a blast speaking in Moby Dickish tongue of Ahab lol. I was gonna rate it a seven, but as I've said, past the hour mark it just became too weird for me, so, a 6/10.
  4. Birds of Prey (2020). Overall, I enjoyed the movie and even appreciated the comedy elements at times (found myself grinning like an idiot), BUT, can't help but feel that this movie was like a pilot episode, because, well, many of the characters outside Harley herself needed establishing, and the movie just glossed that over. Plus, its tone was very much disjointed - you get some stupid comedy most of the time, but then, there comes really serious and gritty elements for a bit, and then, again, back to comedy. I mean, for an action comedy movie, if that's was what they were aiming for, it worked, but, then, why those other elements? I don't really understand. I know, that people on IMDB rates this a six, and, while I can understand that, but personally I'm very generous when it comes to movies and it takes a lot for me not to enjoy them, so... I give it a 7/10.
  5. Ah, the Mortal Kombat movies... I mean, they were made after the "success" (depends on how you look at it) of Mario Brothers. Don't get me wrong, for a kid me they were entertaining, but, yeah, they are more cheesy than old Power Rangers, and I would not watch them after some odd twenty years have passed. Some movies just don't age well, and some age already after release. There was also a TV series "Mortal Kombat", which in my opinion, was miles better then the movie.
  6. Eh, new season is only mildly interesting to me. No more crazy psycho sister dynamic, so not very interesting. The only thing that is, is Alice, hope they don't decide to off her until the end of the season (if they do, that's when I am bailing out of here). Anyways, during the flashback of what's her name, she throws a knife in to the palm of a baddy, then goes to say thank you to Batwoman. OK, but the bad-guy is still a threat. Don't turn your back on him, jesus effin christ! So, now, what, what's her name gonna squat in the batcave? But she has no normal job and is virtually broke and homeless. Will... um... what's his name be her sugar-daddy now, or something? I mean, Batwoman does not get paid. How did Alice put a bat inside Mouse? That's some shit from the Mummy with Brandan Freiser. Um, the other sister's speech about they should take care of Alice. Um, no. If anything, you should be rooting for more chaos. She's the only thing that's good in this show now. So, whose the League of Shadows wanna-be at the end? Sorry, for using what's their names or equivalents, but honestly, I can't remember most of their names even after a full season 😀 Oh, almost forgot, Alice had a prime opportunity to pop a bullet between Ryan's (is her name Ryan?) teeth, cause she shot first. but, alas, only aimed at the armoured parts. 😀
  7. Frozen II (2019). I liked it, maybe even more than the first part. It had very some very nice and cute moments, but towards the end got overly dark, Although, I liked the songs more from the first movie. 8/10
  8. Hello, friends, colleagues and enemies😉. So, I decided to create a general thread, in which you might like to rate (and maybe in short review/in a couple of sentences say what you liked or did not like) any movies that you saw recently. Other specific movie threads are still relevant for in-depth discussions, but I just thought it would be nice to have a more general thread for this purpose (like in other forums out there). Since some people might not have watched some movies that you have watched, please youse spoiler tags when talking about the events of the movie, just in case. So, I'll start: The Prestige (2006). A movie about two rival illusionists that take their rivalry in to the next level. Overall I liked it, but could not help thinking that the whole 8/10.
  9. Colour me unsurprised that they decided to go down the route that Kate was killed in a catastrophe. Overall episode was meh. Some notes about it: 1) Tommy Elliot going for the Batwoman's suit to be Batman. Yeah, more like to be a drag queen, because clearly the suit was modified for a woman's body. I don't think it would fit him. Although, judging from R. Rose physique and the new actress physique the suit can adapt to its wearer's form, so what the hell do I know. 2) Alice keeping Mouce's dead body. And here's the question of the timeline, just how much time has passed, hmm? Couple of days? The body should be decomposing, rotting and stinking-up the place, but she cuddles with him as if he's a teddy bear. 3) What did Tommy do with the dead body in Wayne's manor? How did he explain it to his other sex partner? Find out... never! 4) Who the fuck was narrating the letter to Sophie? Definitely not Kate. And if they chose a new voice for Kate - again, why no simple recast of an actress. YOU MAKING ME SO ANGERY. As a personal side note: "oh, no, someone other is wearing the batwoman's suite. What should we do?" Eh, call Supergirl to fly-buy and detach the wearer of it. Problem solved.
  10. Fake artificial tension for season three nothing more with the Dark Saber, considering that Sabine Wren in Rebels simply gave the Dark Saber to Bo-Katan not only in front of her own team, but in front of other Mandalorians as well, and Bo accepted it.
  11. It's practice. I had trouble as well at first, because it's had been literally decades since I last played with a console and decided to get in 2018 a PS4, and installed Uncharted on it. Needless to say, had troubles with the simplest of actions, but after a couple of hours began getting the hang of it, and after a week it was okeyish to play with a controller. Still, to this day, I have trouble aiming with a controller in most games that require shooting (GTA V is the worst offender for me). HZD, as I remember, only the flying enemies gave me frustration, but in regards to all other, you have a pretty decent time-window to aim at their heads/parts.
  12. Currently reading Bram Stoker's Dracula. Technically I read the shortened version many years ago in school, but practically I did not remember anything from the book, so it's like a new read. Can't say that I enjoy it or is anything wow, but I mean I can understand how this would have been good in 19th century.
  13. Too bad that Nightwish doesn't do this song live any more, but this cover is wow.

    Cyberpunk 2077

Well, all console issues aside, the game was really not the game that was advertised all these years. On top of that, much of the game mechanics seems to be missing and/or roughcast. While the main and side-story might interest people, but the overall game is just... mediocre, if even that. It's hard for me to believe that these guys made Witcher 3 (or, maybe, since I don't follow what's going on in the gaming world, a new team was formed). Regardless, traffic mechanics are better in an eighteen year old Vice City! How about that 😀
  15. In the warm year period, I once or twice a week go jogging. In addition, sometimes and if I have time, I will take-out my bicycle and pedal longer distances. Also, would use outside training equipment located in the parks; usually do pull-ups and/or bends. Most of the time, twice per week I exercise at home (because gyms, even prior to Corona, were too pricey for my pocket (in terms of what I actually get)). Over the years I've created an exercise list for myself, e.g. 100 sit-ups; 30 sit-ups on one leg then 30 on the other; 50 bends; 50 push-ups; then exercises with dumb-bells in various arm-raising positions. It's hard to explain in detail, because English is not my native language and it would require thorough search on Google of what each exercise is called exactly in English.
  16. Eh, decided to ditch Herodotus "History" (maybe gonna get back to it once I retire lol) and picked up from my home library Leningrad: Tragedy of a City Under Siege by Anna Reid, A foreword and introduction in, and it's already a much more enjoyable read than Herodotus.
  17. IMHO, it was no worse than any other Terminator past Judgment Day. Still, the best Terminator is the second one. Somehow, no other T movie was able to surpass that (and T2 came out in, what, 1991? So almost twenty years ago).
  18. Characters from animated series from the same creator of this one (IIRC).
  19. I haven't finished mostly school-related books from my own country's literature. From the top of my head would be Žemaitė "Rytą giedrą" (it's an autobiography and novels of, well, let's say the first "modern" Lithuanian author from the XIX century. As I remember, it was mostly about corvee and the life of peasants (cause we still had that in the XIX century, while the rest of the Western world was reaping the "wonders" of industrial revolution)), Šatrijos Ragana (really don't remember anything from her works; I just found it to be totally dreadful). And, from my own leisure, there was some other novel, I guess from a Russian author. It was, as I remember, as if, approved from the Tolkien family or something (at least it said on the cover or something like that as I remember). Um... generally, it was set two or three hundred years after the end of the LOTR books. It had three parts, but I read only the first one. And... Julies Verne "20,000 Leagues under the Sea". Simply it was too long of a book, and I read it when I was nine or ten, because it was on a primary (or secondary) school's curriculum, but I never finished it.
  20. I started writing a novel when I was finishing high-school on to my first or second year in university, but stopped, because I lost my inspiration. I actually wrote two drafts of the novels: one was historical fiction about a vampire (I, know, trite, ain't it?) set during the Crusades, would have eventually ended up in the 21st century, and the other was a detective novel. I think, I still have them saved on my HDD somewhere along all the other useless crap I do not use anymore. I think, I had written 40 pages for one book and 60 pages for the other book.
  21. This topic has got me thinking (and probably has been said somewhere earlier in here), that I keep mishearing most of the lyrics that Taria Turunen (ex-Nightwish vocalist) sings. 🙂 I mean, I decided to re-listen to all of the Nightwish discography, and I will be damned, if I do not need a lyrics sheet (I'm in to the first three albums of theirs). Just remembered one lyric I misheard. It was Bon Jovi "Just Older". I heard: "Hey, man, it's been a while you were memories". What he actually sang: "Hey, man, it's been a while, do you remember me?"
  22. I'm just going to say for now that in my eyes, Ahsoka's lightsaber animation looked really really cheap. They reminded me of LED light bars hanging in schools.
  23. Well, I liked New Mutants. But thought it could have been a bit better, if the screenwriters and directors took more liberties in the R rated... oh, wait, it was PG-13 rated. Now it makes sense. Anyways, by a wide margin better then that snooze fest Dark Phoenix.
  24. A week-ago finished Yuval Harari "SAPIENS: A Brief History of Humankind". It was a really easy read, the author really had in mind an average layperson while writing it. Some of the things he wrote we already discussed in school/university, other things were quite interesting to read (like that majority of our constructs, like money, political factions etc. are just only the products of our imagination). Now, I'm re-reading Herodotus "Historiae". And... I don't know, now I know, why I did not remember much of what I've read from this book many years ago, because the ancient historian's writing is all over the place (from one thing to the other, and then back again). I finished the first chapter, and I think I have to re-read it again, read the footnotes and in my own personal notebook write down the sequence from A to Z of the events, which he depicts, in order to fully understand what has happened. Also, what's interesting, that he attributes much of the stuff that has happened to the will of the Gods, just like Homerus.
