Baking a cake from a mix, and ready-made frosting from a plastic tub, costs under 5 bucks. Cake is not my favorite dessert, but a birthday cake, no matter how inexpensive and basic, is traditional in my world. I baked the above type cake for Mr. X's birthday this year, and he appreciated the gesture, even though he only ate a couple of pieces. We aren't dessert eaters as a rule, either. Amazon box non-wrapped or gift-bagged gifts, just screams "I'm a lazy parent." Dollar stores are full of birthday cards and wrappings. Yard sales have stuff like that frequently, and just a bit of time and effort can mean a lot to a child that wants to feel special on their day.

It did nothing for me, as a teen that needed to lose 20 lbs. The only thing that worked was the same old, eat less and move more. I remember Metrecal, too. Liquid diets are not satisfying. The stuff my brain remembers!
