  1. @Christina87, great post. These fundies, and other groups, many religion-based, some not, are doing their kids a disservice by refusing to let them date, and not trusting them to decide when & if they get married, break up, stay friends, or never talk again. The Duggars seem to think that they can have cookie-cutter children that will stay in their group, and never go beyond their narrow-minded focus, even with something as crucial as choosing a life mate. Part of my fascination with cults is my gratitude that I wasn't raised in one, and had the ability to decide for myself if I'd be a churchgoer (I'm not) and decide who, or if, I would marry. I didn't single date until 16, and even that was considered conservative in the early 70's. BTT: Jill and Dillweed, a mismatch from the get-go. Poor Izzy and Sam.
  2. I'd add JoKen to the list. To me, they look genuinely in love.
  3. You are far from alone, fellow GOML clubber. Dear Audge needs a Photography 101 class yesterday. I'm mystified by posts such as this. One reason I'm rarely on social media. Vapid and then some.
  4. I haven't seen the pics yet, but I'd venture to say that 99.9% of us consider every purchase more carefully than the Brown Clowns. Sorry to say this, but it's my opinion that they expect everyone else to concede and help pay for their needs, in addition to their wants. I don't claim to know how the TeeVee exposure and income has changed that. @suomi, cheap seater here as well. We know that the Browns' history indicates that there's been at least one bankruptcy in their past. Living beyond one's means just doesn't make sense to this boring, bill-paying monogamist.
  5. And I know you won't be posting a picture of the potty doodle.

  7. "Adios, Johnny Bravo." Brady Bunch fan here. Yes, Joshley would probably need a fat Elvis suit instead? Jackson would be a good choice for Johnny B.
  8. Typical Janelle, for me, would say: I'm not going to bother with any food plan that doesn't include all of my favorites. Janelle's Strive persona: Well, I have to pretend to care that I'm looking into #wackyornotwackydiets, and thinking about trying one or more of them, but it's so hard to get out of bed because: the days are getting shorter; it's colder than crap here in Flagstaff; I have to drive back to LV and try to unload one or more of our overpriced houses; blah, blah, blah. What a life.
  9. Sweet girl. One of my favorite Browns. She's enunciating so much better now.
  10. Never enough self-adoration for those two attention whores.
  11. Yeah, it's not like they have to relocate for a job or jobs. Meri and Christine can sell that LuLaNo crap from anywhere. TeeVee Stars (LOL) can work anywhere, too. What about doing it all "for the kids?" Guess not.
  12. Then it seems strange that Jessa wanted it. It's also strange to me, to see a stove under a window. My sink is under my window, and I thought that was sort of standard, for kitchens. She has two windows, but still, it looks odd.
  13. I look at real estate ads in the Sunday newspaper. "Open Concept" seems to be a thing now. I had my ceiling in my kitchen restored to its original height during a remodel, but I wouldn't agree to have a wall removed. Wall space is a good thing, when one has a lot of paintings. My house is mid-century, and I like the room divisions as they are. Didn't Grandma Duggar live it the house that Jessa owns now? She might have good memories of that time. I would love to be able to afford the houses I grew up in, or my Grandpa's house from the 60's. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing.
  14. I agree. It's at least inappropriate for these two to use Veteran's Day in that way, IMO. I'm sure it never even occurred to these rubes to feature an actual vet.
  15. Come on, Christine! What happened to "love that boy" Tony? More LuLaNo hashtags. Sheesh.
  16. I lived with an outdated, dark, small kitchen for almost 30 years. I was so happy to have my kitchen remodeled with white cabinets, granite countertops, and yellow walls. I get to enjoy the morning and afternoon sun, with the big windows, and the previously lowered ceiling with fluorescent tube lighting, transformed into the original higher ceiling, with can and pendant lights. It's so beautiful. I didn't want grey anything. Warm colors and light make my kitchen look bigger and brighter. Jessa's kitchen doesn't look bad, to me. I've never watched Fixer Upper, but I'm hoping to get a bathroom remodel next year. At least I have a spare bathroom to use in the meantime.
  17. They probably thought it was trendy enough to put on their wedding registers, and someone bestowed them with spice gifts. See, even the Duggars eat organically and healthfully! (Not.)
  18. Truely is so cute! Is she saying that Maddie & Christine are competing for kid's clothes? And Maddie is winning? That little elf ensemble is darling.
  19. LOL, dingleberry! George Carlin said that word wasn't used "nearly enough." I miss George. I had a wonderful MIL too, but it never would have occurred to me to hang out with her before I met Mr. Xword. Jilly Muffin continues to look ditzier all the time.
  20. It's one of my all-time favorite movies. I was cursed with big feet, and the smallest size I could say I wear would be a 9, which would be a lie :) But, here's a big plus: my 60-something feet look great in sandals compared to foot-picture-in-Birks Mariah. I don't remember who said it here, but an astute poster likened Mariah's feet to Fred Flintstone, which was a spot-on description.
