Twin Peaks aside …. I loved the reaction to the owls. No one will come near their house ever again, nope, but it is fine, she will be fine. The owl also has an extremely human face. Barn owl? i loved that after Harry made his ‘men ask women out’ speech there was a focus on Darcy holding her fork like she was fighting the urge to stab him with it. I find Darcy a relatable mess, Narcissistic parents and all, and I somehow hope she finds something for herself by the end of the show.

If you know the story of the frog and the scorpion, the scorpion dies along with the frog. The scorpion cannot swim. He has begged the frog for help crossing the river and the frog falsely believes that creatures are rational, or at least behave in their own self interest. the scorpion stings the frog as he is swimming. The frog says ‘why would you sting me, since it means both of us die’ and the scorpion answers ‘it is my nature’. the dance of the dragons is a tragedy. To tell you the truth the tragedies GRRM wrote are what attracted me to his writing. There are many things Alicent, Rhaenyra, Daemon and Viserys, all of them, could do if they were differnt people. What they do is their nature and it spins the story to its conclusion. all of these people have a way out and none of them are particularly altruistic or concerned for the small folk, as near as I can tell. What happens, has happened, is according to their nature.

Except for all of ghe deposits of toxic waste we need to maintain and all the toxins that would escape when we disappeared. We have made our mark on this world.

A lot if the problem, I think, is that installing a female king will tear the realm apart. Viserys may have led her to believe she was the heir but insisting on her rights makes war inevitable. Also, she should have stayed close, if she was going to insist. I think this would be true if the king had not had a male son.

In general I agree, Whedon was a toxic and entitled Jerk and people rode his coattails and didn’t call him on it often enough. Maybe, if they had, he would have changed. Maybe not. He was often right, or had valid points—less cyborg, for example—but handled people poorly and didn’t include them in the conversation. Imo,and it is hard to tell. Most of the complaints sbout him seem to come down to toxic boss.

I wish it had not become a TNG nostalgia piece at the end, although that may have been a hail mary save for the show and many people reacted as if that was what they wanted. I am not, in retrospect, finding it a memorable show. Personally I’d love Kirk and the old Gorn, playing more video games.
