Once Social Security is means-tested, it will go the way of "welfare as we know it." There is social and political stigma attached to welfare while Social Security is something all wage earners pay into and have every right to expect to get back. The politicians are strongly motivated to protect Social Security, unlike what we've seen them happily do to welfare benefits.

The number of times that it has been necessary here to repeat "there is no such thing as an alt-left" to counter the post-truth assertion of the existence of an alt-left is such a good example of how it became possible for a minority of voters in this country to capture the highest office for a sexist, fascist, racist, homophobic lunatic. The alt-left talking point creates false equivalence -- they both do it, a pox on both of their houses -- so the KGOPB can obfuscate criticism of anyone or anything right of center.

Where's the real liberal, Chuck, to match up with Hugh Hewitt? They do exist. Thom Hartmann does liberal radio. Rachel lost me during the primary with her giddy schoolgirl delivery of every single story that was negative about Bernie. She was in the tank for Hillary all the way. The proverbial straw for me was when she aired the fake news about purported violence at the Nevada Democratic convention, taking the word of a single source, Jon Ralston, who wasn't even at the event at the time a chair was lifted in the air and then set down. Rachel has never done a Debunktion Junction to correct this act of journalistic malpractice. And I still can't watch her for very long. I don't trust her anymore. FF to now, my mom and I were at loggerheads about Rachel from when I turned on Rachel until the second KAC Interview. Mom was steaming. "She knew [KAC] lied to her the first time and she has her on again? Fuck you, Rachel." Le sigh.
