  1. Just read thru this thread & all the discussion on deck renovations reminded me of an episode on "While You Were Out" where the wife surprised the husband with a deck renovation (horrible) and he went ballistic!
  2. I really don't "wanna know yo name", don't even know what the commercial is for, I'm guessing Target. I don't bother to look at the screen. What I do want to know is where is my remote so I can mute it. And people talking to credit report websites...please don't. I admit I do talk to commercials, but I live alone, so I can talk to anything I want.
  3. my comment on another thread, about a month ago. It's the same thing most people want, people who have common interest and enjoy the same things.
  4. I haven't watched since Barry left, turned it on to kill some time and immediately looked for something else when Rene came on the screen. I hate the "I'm going to make so & so pay" crap.
  5. Nestle's Tollhouse cookies - "car-a-melify" your cookies? I'm from where we say carmel, not caramel. But I hate stupid made up words.
  6. I'm with a lot of the moms, I don't think "sex kitten" and wedding ceremony belong together.I'm old.
  7. I'm re-thinking the Viagra ads - just heard them listing possible side effects to call Dr. about, among them - loss of vision or hearing. Mom always said you'd go blind.
  8. why does it always have to be snakes?
  9. The E.D. ads don't make much of an impact with me, I just ignore them. And as for children watching, I think it depends on the age of the child & if they are asking, maybe parents should be talking. Many years ago, there was an ad for Herbal Essence with a woman in the shower orgasmically screaming. My nieces, age 7 & 9 came to live with me during that time & I worried about what to say about the ad. One night, while we were watching tv together, the ad came on, I cringed, but asked the girls what they thought was going on. The 9 yr old replied - "she really likes that shampoo". I agreed and stopped worrying about it.
  10. back to the EHarmony hate train, there's a new ad where a young man talks about how his mother is going to get a billboard to advertise for a wife for him if he doesn't hurry and settle down. Why doesn't he just tell her to back off, he's looking for a husband? She'll either get over it or not. Just joking here, I know family issues are bigger than that.
  11. And maybe Dylan McDermott is the title character.
  12. I like several Geico ads, some are irritating, but I always laugh at the Kenny Rodgers, the chocolate M&Ms and now the one with the football player celebrating cold cuts. I don't follow football or sports so I don't care who he is but I just enjoy the ad. Also like the ad with the husband & wife settling down to snuggle after the kids are asleep and she has surprise...cracks me up with his intonation...oh.my.Fruitloops.
  13. I've noticed that Carnation Breakfast has changed the commercial from adding fresh/breast milk to just add milk. And I keep seeing/hearing ads for Our Time - dating service for old folk (like me), I think they should ad a tag line - "young folks just don't get it".
  14. late night tv watching again, ad for on line tire buying, tiretrak.com - maybe? pretty low budget, but funny, one shows a woman driving to a scientific conference - imposes math equations over her face and voice over says if she were thinking about purchasing tires, she'd go to their service, but she's not - she's thing...important thoughts. it's amusing and there's another one that's just as funny but I've only seen it once and don't remember. bad case of crs.
  15. for many years, air freshener ads advertised that they covered the smell of "fish", it was only recently that I realized they were not really meaning "fish". Living in a small house has made me appreciate covering "fish" smells and I don't cook fish.
  16. I'm rather in awe of something I just saw, Ashley Madison - guys singing, "looking for someone other than my wife", now they advertise for cheating husbands? (late night tv ads - unbelievable)
  17. flipping channels, came across "Scorned: Love Kills", didn't stay much past this comment, "it was like a tupperware party for horny women".
  18. So many complaints about health care ads in general, also watch too much late night tv, but it's all the ads for something or other that are geared specifically toward Medicare recipients get on my nerves. Then there's the ads for dental care, I was actually paying attention during Law & Order and the ad said it's just like insurance your employer pays for except you buy it for yourself. Pretty much all health insurance is just like your employer pays for except you buy it yourself. And...the ads for PBA - the first several times I saw those I thought they were spoof ads. Laughing and crying inappropriately - don't call them crazy, call it what it really is. I guess once you put a name to it, that's the cure, I'm not sure I've heard what the solution for it is other than giving it a name. But then again, maybe I don't pay close enough attention.
  19. Have been watching a bit of 20/20, On the Case with Paula Zahn, and Dateline on ID. I am amused by the disclaimer at the beginning of the shows that the program may contain things that might be offensive to some viewers. If you are easily offended by the content on shows like these, why are you watching? Murder is offensive and everyone should be offended by it, but don't watch if you can't take the heat. I watch because of the puzzles, how the officials put the clues together, to observe human nature. I also read a lot of who dun its. But I try to consider the real people affected by the murders. I don't think I'm expressing this well. I am offended by the murders and have been affected by it more than once in my personal life. Still waiting for justice in most recent death, we do know who did it, they are in jail and waiting for all the court proceedings. But even with her conviction, I don't know that it's enough. Maybe that's why I watch, to see if those affected feel completed.
  20. our CBS affiliate said on the news that followed it was hacking and NOT The official CBS opinion. And issued an apology. I was just confused at first, then realized something was wrong.
  21. I realized in this episode that I really don't like Danny, he really does have to be right all the time, doesn't he? And in many ways he is a chip off the old block, I have had a tv crush on Tom Selleck since Magnum, but he's a bit of a self righteous prig in this show. I miss the sense of humor he used in Magnum. Jamie is probably my favorite in the family, he's grown up a lot since the show began. Did anyone else experience the hacking of closed captioning on CBS at the beginning of the show? I always keep closed captioning on because I don't always catch things that are spoken & it helps me follow the story.
  22. I watch too much late night tv. California Psychs - best psychic reading I have ever had, they knew exactly what I should do and who I should be with for the rest of my life - I've never had a psychic reading, ever. But several years ago I had a satellite receiver installed, the guy doing the installation said his wife was a phone psychic, had just started, was not psychic in the least but was given a script. I think of this every time one of those ads is on. Farmers Only.Com - "city folks just don't get it", we get it, we just choose not to live there. I spent time in the country as a child, had zero interest then, have zero interest now. And I do not live in a big city.
  23. I know we're not getting close-ups, but she has great legs!
  24. re: kids wanting their parents to take more vacation time because it's paid, the last 2 places I worked, same field, one for profit, the other not for profit, time off was no real vacation, staffing was so short that you had to work an 80 hr week before time off, other staff had to cover the emergency stuff on your load and they worked 80 hour weeks while you were off, then an 80 hour week to catch back up when you returned and usually a co-worker was taking time off when you got back & you had to cover their job. It was allowed but you were made to feel horribly guilty by upper management. I was let go because of budget cuts, and figured I was retired because at 62 there were no jobs. So the kids complaining have no clue what it's like it the real world in America.
  25. I've pretty much given up on this show, but had to watch the Ambush Wedding, 1) it was a wedding, 2) the bride was from the troupe on DWTS, 3) All the other dancers. But how do you do an ambush wedding? What about marriage license - don't live in California, don't know if one is required, but we had to get license several days in advance of the wedding. Bringing her mother and young brother from Ukraine was great, but they flew that distance, went to hair, makeup and costumes & walked in to the wedding? Little brother had to have been exhausted - that's cruel that they weren't there to rest for a day or so. I guess they were on limited visa and flying was iffy, but still think they should have a day to rest. Did he do this wedding with the old format of 3 weeks planning time? If they are not on that schedule, it seems things could have taken a little more time so there wasn't so much rushing. But I guess that was the point - for the drama. They are a pretty couple, I wish them continued love. The only surprise wedding I could see would be one the bride & groom are in on, but it's a surprise to the guests. We had almost the same things in our family - only they were more shotgun.
