  1. that husband isn't going to like be outed as a probable murderer on television. And also such a scammer.
  2. 1) this is not a good thread to read while you eat. 2) I didn't ever notice a year in the Progressive ads, I just assumed QEI, but I like the part where she says I didn't turn your daughter into a rooster, she just looks like that!
  3. There's a car for big guys, I've seen the ad. There's a football/basketball player or maybe he's a boxer, I don't know. But I've seen the ad.
  4. new pickup truck commercial shows people 2 pictures of the same guy with and without their pickup. All I get out of it is that guys that drive pickups are bigger a**holes.
  5. I do that too with old cop shows - I'll be yelling at the screen about cross-contamination and handling evidence. I watched Murder Book about the killing of 2 LEOs in El Segundo, CA in 1957 - lots of changes in the handling of crime scenes since then. I think the local officer was struggling at the end, but it was such a human thing for Kelly and Yolanda to break down and for Kelly to reach out physically to the family. I think it may have helped them accept such difficult news.
  6. Watching Murder Book, about 1957 murder of 2 police officers in El Segundo, California. The narrator said something like "3 yrs later when things are just about to be less painful, it opens back up". Wait, especially in officer deaths, isn't knowing and find clues better than not knowing. I think in all cold cases, people want to know...unless you're the killer. Editing to add, watching another episode, and I realize that the narration is like a pulp detective story from the 40s and 50s.
  7. More rerun viewing, but I really like the interactions between Frank and Garrett.
  8. Hey Calamity! I lived in PV for a few years in the early 90s, but grew up in Raytown. I loved James Garner in everything! And Tom Selleck is the reason I started wasthing Blue Bloods, but I miss his humor from Magnum.
  9. I find it interesting that we are annoyed by different things in commercials. Last night, I finally noticed the whistling that bothering someone, I'd seen the ad several times, but it just didn't faze me. The KitKat ads annoy me, but not for the smacking chewing, snapping sounds, it annoys me because I'm just tired of it. What I am annoyed by is the shrieking, car ads are the worst. Local dealers or trucks, shrieking is not going to make me buy your product, I must mute that noise. I thought the volume in ads was supposed to be reduced, but I don't notice a difference. And then, there's the family sitting around, watching for the Eggo to pop up. Why are they only fixing one? There are 2 slots in that toaster and they look like a family that could afford a bigger toaster if they're all that concerned. And then the small child takes it & eats it - should that thing be too hot to hold in the bare hand and go into her mouth. I toast English muffins all the time, and for a couple of seconds, they're too hot to pick up, but that's how they melt the butter.
  10. every reality show on WE! If there were a thread for WE or for the trashiest reality show, they'd win. I only watch WE for Law & Order reruns, but get the ads for their trash shows. Marriage Made in Heaven: "I'd **** up a bitch that messes with MY son!" "I've had my fun, now I want a wife" - what a load of trash! Now there's some show with women in the south - maybe Atlanta - that I won't even quote the commercials they are so trashy. I don't want to watch those, don't want to watch SWV or Kendra on Top or Bottom or where ever else!
  11. when I googled the story, found an article from October 2014, alleging the ADA and one of the detectives were having an affair. I have no idea of the truth, but it would explain things. I don't think the life insurance policy was enough money to be bribing people or that the beneficiary had enough influence, but who knows. From personal experience, I do know that sometimes police get a theory and they are not going to let facts get in the way. I hope this is being appealed to higher courts, but it is in Missouri...my home state.
  12. I don't know that this was the most memorable or if Dateline ID goes here, but I just saw this one a while ago and it annoyed me no end. "The House on Sumac Drive", man was convicted of murdering his wife and the prosecution's case was one of the most convoluted things I've ever heard. It was worthy of a Patricia Cornwell book. His defense wasn't allowed to question one particular witness about her possible motives, and according to the prosecution, he and his friends had an elaborate plot for 2 years for killing the wife, but none of the friends were charged with conspiracy or anything else after the conviction. I did read through some things that are more recent than the show and I think he was shafted big time by the prosecution. Russ and Betsy Faria in Troy, Missouri are the convicted and the victim. I remember the cowboy, I liked his story too. If it's happened, then he should be arrested and tried, but I'm sorry to hear it.
  13. that was it! I couldn't remember what he said that made me think he was the killer, but really, why would you start a call like that. And he never did call 911 officially, just called someone that worked there to get his calls recorded. Not really as bright as he thinks he is. I do like this show and watch it regularly, but I don't think this was their strongest case. They need to find Timmy McKimmey. Sorry, but who names their child like that?
  14. Timmy McKimmey? Really? I know it was somewhat the editing, but I knew the husband was in it from the opening. What a piece of work!
  15. ok, thank you magicdog. maybe I'm confused with some PDs strongly encouraging degrees. And I didn't mean to infer that a degree meant a person was smarter. Edited to correct the thought and for additional thought. Degrees mean different things to different people in different lines of work. Fictional characters only, but could Sheldon, Leonard, Howard or Raj be a police officer? Oh hell no! Could Danny be a physicist? Oh hell no! As the Wizard of Oz told the scarecrow, a lot of people do an awful lot without brains, but what you need is a certificate. (or something like that, for some reason I haven't watched the Wizard of Oz lately)
  16. Been watching reruns again. As I've said before, I've had a crush on Tom Selleck since his appearance on Rockford. I loved Thomas Magnum and every now and then something of his sense of humor peeps through. Miss that waggle of the eyebrows! And as said above Tom Selleck is a fine looking man. And I've thought about the accents thing again. I was raised in the suburbs of Kansas City, my brother was raised by the same parents in the same house and he affects the hickiest of hick accents. I do not, but I went to college, he didn't, I moved to Washington DC for many years and got rid of a lot of my regional speech patterns then. So I guess it makes sense that Danny spent more street time and service time while Erin & Jamie went to Harvard, so he has more of a street accent. But didn't he have to get a degree of some kind in order to make detective? Most law enforcement agencies in large cities require Bachelor's Degrees even in the rank and file.
  17. don't know if it's a new sow or a new season, show is "Web of Lies", first one looks to be a young girl who got a bicycle and has friends on social media. but what I want to know about is the ad where a woman is texting and she holds up a red dress. is the woman Jennifer Morrison? A couple of shots really look like her, but unless she made yhat a few years ago, I'd think she's too big of a name to be doing ID shows.
  18. I usually watch the Rose Parade on HGTV, but I may go to the grocery store, dislike hearing them giving stupid commentary.
  19. Been watching a lot of episodes on TNT and We, and all the sirens during the trials are starting to annoy me.
  20. when an ad incessantly repeat a phone number, after it is over I always ask "what was that number again?" I know there's no one in the house but me, but I still ask.
  21. I was looking for a topic on terrible murder weapons there is none, so here it goes. Was watching "Possession" on WE last hour, the weapon was pinking shears. I've sewn all my life, my grandmother and mothers were seamstresses, we all owned pinking shears. They do not have sharp points at the tips and would be very difficult to stab someone with, they're very thick. It would take a lot of strength to stab anything. Regular dressmaking shears would be a much more reasonable weapons. Just one of those things that bugged.
  22. I'm really down on Oklahoma's foster care, my 3 yr old great nephew was killed by his foster mother throwing him on a concrete floor, his 4 yr old sister and 6 yr old brother had clumps of hair missing and had been spanked with wooden hangers. the foster father got a 4 year suspended sentence, the foster mother has been charged with first degree murder. bio parents are serving 5 years for a dirty house and the photo evidence was photo shopped. I went through foster parent training to have their mother and aunt about 15 years ago, after a couple of years, the DHS decided that the girls had to go live with their convicted child molester father - he was convicted in Kansas so it doesn't matter in Oklahoma. I have no use for any of it, it was al money, I don't have any.
  23. Since this ad has Santa talking about some sports crap, I'm going to put it here. Has Santa saying something bout this game is so important on Christmas day, why are we talking about presents. I don't really celebrate Christmas - but sportscasters all seem to have this attitude and it has always irritated me - sports are NOT the most important thing in the world!
