  1. Not only the points you make which I agree with, but Rachel runs her show as if she were a professor, that's how it comes off to me as a viewer. She has said as much in countless interviews that she is trying to give new information, that she wants viewers to learn something from watching. So yes, when people come on her show she does try to move out of the way, and not do most of the talking. She lets them present their expertise. If she thinks that something is wrong, or that she misunderstands them, then she cuts in to clarify, which is holding them accountable IMO. But to Rachel's credit, she has been critical of her own questioning skills and the need for improvement. She said that Chris Matthews was good, because he pretty much badgers his guest into blurting out shit that they don't want to. When she said that, I was like OK, I kinda agree, except Matthews then proceeds to interrupt so much it gives me a headache. I'm like damn, can he/she finish the sentence! But see, I realized that he doesn't want them to finish the sentence, he knows what sound bite he's looking for and if he doesn't get it in a matter of seconds he cuts them the hell off LOL. It's frustrating and funny in the same breath, he's definitely a SNL skit. Anyway, I digress, Hillary is making the rounds, she's selling her book. Therefore she's showing up at what she and her people consider the most popular, highly rated moderate to liberal leaning talk shows she can show up on. I believe she was on the "View" today and I saw a clip of her showing up on the Today Show as well pimping her book. It's all as simple as that IMO. Anyway, I can't wait till her interview with Rachel, I hope she takes up most of the hour. Hillary will never bug me, sorry, not sorry.
  2. Yeah, I don't think they're done either, but I on the other hand, really like Aparna. I mean, if Lawrence goes back and comes off like he's gotten his shit together in terms of his baggage, I can see her being cool with him enough to maybe start over. She's chill, and just does not intend to put up with the messy and over analyzing of stuff. She's like, I slept with the guy at work, he's funny, we were drunk, but she doesn't think that, that sex is the closest that two people can get. And if she means sex alone does not equal true/quality intimacy, then I agree with her. I'm thinking that's what she meant. Now I get from a male perspective, Lawrence having an issue with one, much less multiple men walking around the office having seen a woman he's in a relationship with naked. And he's definitely conservative, while she comes off like some flower child, so their whole value system and outlook on the world, just may be very different and not compatible. We shall see, at least I hope.
  3. Ah, I look at it this way, men dick around all the time and women take them back most of the time. IMO they get granted forgiveness and are accepted back into the fold by women a lot more than they return the favor when women fuck up and ask to come back. Although, yes, she has treated him shitty and I hope she stops. Or, he eventually stops putting up with her shit.
  4. LMAO! Oh lord, they do have the entire season of Due North at the end of the finale in the HBO on Demand version. LOL, OMG, you all have got to watch it, it's uncut, it's so good. Natasha Rothwell AKA Kelly is something else. What a sick mind to come up with this show.
  5. But I could have sworn Lawrence said, "Is that..." as in he was noticing something other than a crooked tv.
  6. Yeah, I didn't think she was sucking up either, it was a nice, professional thing to do while the others, especially that guy, acted so unprofessionally about it. I died laughing at his reaction and his side kick, that "wanted" him to get the promotion. When the boss announced the promotion, Issa was the first one to start clapping and then looked around the table because the others weren't trying to clap. I previously posted that I had mixed feelings about her promotion, even though Issa was the lead on the project and it was her program to run, there's part of me that still feels a real leader would go over her head and make the call. Frieda didn't do this. Issa was the boss on that project, but ultimately she isn't a superior with real power over Frieda. That being said, I definitely don't think Issa deserved any promotion and if the boss had to give it to anyone there, yeah, it would be Frieda. Can someone tell me what the guys were looking at when they were watching Due North? When Lawrence, Chad and Greg were at his place and Due North came on they all turned their heads to the side as if the graphics might have been in the shape of maybe some female anatomy? Is that what they were looking at? That was the only thing I could think of them noticing and then having that reaction. Chad with his extra dick hanging around, love him. He never knows, nor uses the names of any of the women Lawrence is dating. He always calls Issa "Old Girl."
  7. So are we thinking that baby might not be Derek's?
  8. I disagree, I think it's very rare, but it definitely happens.
  9. Exactly, it's suppose to be a parody right? Just like Defamation on the show Dear White People, hilarious.
  10. I adore this show, there is always so much to unpack. I loved everything about this finale, everything, Issa Rae is awesome and so was the scene between her character and Lawrence. I knew that whole happily ever montage HAD to be a dream. The entire time I was like no way is this real, no way. Good lord, do I love Kelly, the stuff that comes out of her mouth without any hesitation nor regret, love it. So Molly's job situation...that was left up in the air right? Or are we to assume that she decided to stay with the "whites" because the "blacks" weren't where she'd find the money? Although at her current job, she's looking for more money. I can't get over that paper gold star award they gave her, LOL. Ugh, Dro is back, Issa is on Daniel's couch. Although, I love how Issa told Molly she loved her too much to stay with her any longer or move in. No, she'll just impose on Daniel and torture him some more, LOL. Aparna gets a clap from me for nipping Lawrence's bullshit in the bud, she wasted no time. I do like her. I don't know how to feel about Issa's job situation. I like the consequences that she had to deal with, but I just feel that Frieda does and does not deserve that promotion. She could have very well gone over Issa's head to the boss, and that's what she should have done. So she was passively complicit in what went down. She didn't need to wait for Issa, to take charge and do the right thing and put the discrimination in the report. If you're going to be given a promotion that makes you a leader, then you need to lead. You need to be able to make the call when your back is up against the wall. I don't think she did this entirely. I know, I'm going to miss him, hot mess. The best part was when Issa said something to effect of "Good luck" to the little girl, LOL. Oh, I forgot about Molly and the Chicago guy, yeah, if he doesn't make you tingle, then why fake it. Dro isn't the answer IMO, because the tingle he's giving won't be enough in the long run because of his wife. But why play around with the other guy when you know he's really into you but you just can't get there. LOL, I know it would be must see tv for me.
  11. Me too and I love it, and it's not just men who want her to shut up. But as far as this woman is concerned, Hillary can talk all she wants if one doesn't want to listen, then don't. She isn't doing anything to the democratic party, please. The party sucks all on its own without her. They are extremely passive, lack energy, lack guts and that is something the Hillary has in spades whether you think she was the most corrupt evil person to ever walk the earth *eye roll* or not. Ah, her voice on that audio book didn't bother me one bit. It was her voice during her speeches when she tried to pretend to raise it. That audio book voice, no problem, it sounded like her, her calm voice and that voice never bothered me. I love when she talks about Vlad and love when they show the pictures of her meeting with him. Boy is he a piece of shit, although I couldn't help but bust out laughing at the picture of him trying to intimidate Merkel with that dog. All I could say was damn, he's a straight up street thug. You ever just watch him walk? Thug, thug life for sure, LOL.
  12. Thank you, this is what I was trying to remember. And with that, yeah, it really does suck that she reached out to him first to scratch an itch and never divulged what was going on with her and Lawrence. And it's not like she didn't know he was into her, they had history, but if I remember correctly the timing was never right for them in the past. Then to top it off, she humiliated Daniel at that party.
  13. No, I was trying to think about how they got together in season one, that's what I can't remember? I'm trying to remember how it went down her meeting up with him again. I can't remember when she first called him? Did she call him? Or did she go on his Facebook page? Or did he reach out to her first? I think I remember him doing something with her, with the kids at the elementary school. That's back when her Broken Pussy song was up on Youtube and the kids were playing it on their phones. Didn't he show up at that school to engage the kids with something using his music skills?
  14. LOL, well Kelly is just ridiculous. She's someone either you love and put up with her or you leave it alone. You just throw up your hands because you can't do anything with her. I mean when she said the Jewish greeting I think it was and that she was going to use at the Mosque when she went to services with her new bae OMG...Molly tells her that's not what they say and she says with an attitude in response..."Well it could be." LOL, I can't, you just throw up your hands and laugh, or not.
  15. Oh yeah, at the that We Got Ya'll party last season right? Yeah that was hurtful/disrespectful. And I can't remember, how did they get together again? Did she reach out to him first? Yeah, she was actively trying to seek him out wasn't she?
  16. Don't know much about this dress, but this reminded me that Dro walked up to her and said that it was his favorite. Damn, the whole Dro thing was so sad and depressing and her wearing his favorite dress just reminded me of how pathetically depressing that all was. I hope I don't see him again, unless they decide to give me Candice's point of view. Although I think I figured out her point of view just based on her interaction with Molly, she knew/knows what's up and it's fine with her.
  17. Hopefully, but there are plenty shitty family members to go around where the only thing connecting you to them is blood and there aren't lines that they won't cross. Yeah, I didn't say anything about giving the man a free pass, my stance is don't come at me with all that we shouldn't slut shame when it comes to something that close to home, WHATEVER. That's always the come back, well why isn't she blaming her husband *eye roll.* As if anyone on the outside knows what the wife is saying or doing to said husband behind close doors. And my post was in response to another poster not being offended that Lawrence called Issa a Ho in that particular circumstance. Again, don't like using the word but I couldn't care less about refraining from using it on some woman who's fucking around with my husband, period. I don't care about well she isn't your husband he is, he made the vow so why are you angry with her. Are you kidding me? I don't care about well if it wasn't her it would be someone else. Well, it was her and I know about her, so I'm going to shit all over her name if it makes me feel better. And she better not catch on fire because I wouldn't spit on her to put it out, LOL. Also, me turning down married men would also have nothing to do with the bond of womanhood, but the fact that I think it's a shitty thing to do period. And yes, an extremely shitty thing to do to a fellow female you are friends with, close to or even just travel in the same circle. Most importantly, I have self-respect. In my house I was taught to treat others how you would want to be treated. I wouldn't want that to happen to me, so that's how I roll in life. We know others don't, either they're just very weak and can't help themselves and/or just flat out evil, narcissistic shitty human beings, can't control that, but I can control what I do unto others. Because some people cheat just cause they can and they take glee in mucking shit up, being the center of attention and it boost their egos. Finally, logic always gets in my way and I'm thankful for that. It's illogical to me to see any man who can't honor his vows as attractive. I just can't reason with it, if you can't do right by her then... You have no honor. So the very reason I found you attractive would go out the window if I were to cheat with you. I can't get away from this logic.
  18. Oh he does? I didn't notice his interaction with Tiffany. I know I love Kelly, her equating the serving of carrot cake with Tiffany's hate for her guests was everything, as was her mumbling that she would still eat it, LOL. Then she mumbled something about the forks again because there were so many. Again, she was the MVP of the episode for me. On another note, were there any other guy friends other than Lawrence there for Tiffany's husband? After all, it was suppose to be his birthday. I don't think he's all that close to anyone other than Lawrence, who he met through Issa because he went to school with her. By the way, where was Chad? Is he not friends with Tiffany's husband? What? Would having Chad and Kelly at the same party be too much? Probably.
  19. Like I said, I like carrot cake with that cream cheese frosting, but the first time I heard any hate for carrot cake simply because it was made with a vegetable, was on a Seinfeld episode. He was highly offended that carrots were being used to make a cake as in who are you fooling, this isn't a dessert, these are vegetables.
  20. Yeah I get this, because I do NOT like referring to my fellow women as bitch, ho or any other derogatory term. But I tell ya right now, any woman who's fucking around with my man, on my watch, she specifically will be thought of and referred to by all those derogatory names and then some, she will be slut shamed, LOL. I'm sorry, not sorry, not in that case. And I don't want to hear no shit about well he's the one who's married to you not the other woman, WHATEVER, LOL. Especially, if she was someone who was supposed to be my friend and not some random woman I don't know.
  21. Yep to all of this, I like him a lot and I was glad to see him in another high profile gig. I haven't seen him in a while. I loved the way he played Marlo on The Wire, and I like the way he plays Devin, as little as we see of him. It is like seeing what Marlo might have become in the game a decade or so later.
  22. Yes, that's her brother. I want their back story as well, because this is not the first time they've had that adversarial vibe going on between them. When he showed up at Issa's apt. for the party that's how they interacted with another .
  23. Yeah and she did wait a bit before going out there. I'm not really looking at her sideways for going out there either, or to the party for that matter. I don't think she was looking for a blow up, she seems way too mild mannered and chill for that. I'm guessing she thinks since Lawrence has the same demeanor how out of control and confrontational could his ex be? And she's right, Issa is not about making a scene. But I think she was just curious as to who this ex was. Then all his friends were suppose to be there...yeah, there could have been a lot to learn about this guy she's interested in by going to that party. Hey, if he's weak enough to let me invite myself then so be it. Now I personally wouldn't want to meet anyone's ex, if I never see them it would be too soon for me. But some folks are that curious to go and put themselves in the situation that Aparna put herself in just to feed that curiosity.
  24. Well to her credit she did apologize in return to Issa for her bitchy behavior. She actually did call herself a bitch for behaving the way she did. On this show, I think it'll be done without making it a joke about his size. Although, I don't see the joke,I don't see what the deal is with his size anyway, nor the size of someone like Wendell Pierce who was the actor in Waiting to Exhale. The first thing I noticed most about the guy was the ease in which he interacts with Molly and she with him which is why many of us have come to the conclusion that he could probably be the one for her. But this is not only on him, it's also on Issa. He didn't have sex with her against her will, she could have stopped it, I know I would have. As a matter a fact, I would have redirected his mail, not called him to pick it up. I'm only groveling but for so long if at all. But again, she loves him and she cheated so I have no problem with her trying to get him back for a time, because she was the cheater. But he wasn't having it and then once things settled down which it seems they haven't neither one has been mature enough to have an actual, civil conversation about their entire relationship. But at any rate, I'd have to take my medicine, pine for a while, and then get off my ass and move on. I'm not devising ways to run into you and spend moments in a room alone with you knowing how vulnerable I am. But this is where maturity and operating on logic comes into the play and some folks are better at this than others even when it comes to matters of the heart. How he treated Tasha, yes he sucks, but again, that wasn't only on him. These two women aren't helpless victims in all this, that's all I'm saying. You know a guy has just gotten out of a long term relationship and you're going all in, stupid, just stupid and it's desperate looking. You are setting yourself up for hurt, but women love to live in denial and will shit to happen. Calling Issa a ho, well I got no defense for him on that one. We women know how that goes, and that's exactly where these men go to first when they're in their feelings. At this point, our response should be just a roll of the eye, it's just such a played out response.
  25. I don't find Lawrence to be terrible but boy is he "Hella Annoying," more so than Issa for me, because she's annoying too. I think he had every right to block her, she shouldn't be pissed about that, but she was. If she's honest with herself, she should not be pissed about that. He also had every right to bring his new "friend" to the party except maybe not, but not because of Issa, but because it was bad etiquette. Not telling the host of the party before hand that he was bringing a plus one, is not good etiquette. But in terms of offending or making Issa uncomfortable, too bad, we're not together anymore and you did cheat. I'm one of those folks who gets why she cheated, but I don't care, a cheater is a cheater and in this case she looks worse to me for doing so. This is how I would look at it if he cheated, believe me, so... Now, don't get me wrong, Lawrence damn well knew he was bringing Aparna to throw it in Issa's face, deep down that motivation was there. It wasn't thought of initially because clearly it wasn't his idea at first, Aparna invited herself. But he clearly could have said I'll stop by the party and then we can meet up at such and such a place at whatever time for drinks. But not Lawrence and his passive/aggressive ass. But again, he doesn't have to be thoughtful like that, he doesn't. But don't go running outside to see how Issa's doing, it comes off as hollow. If you're going to do dirty then just own it and stop trying to come off as some thoughtful good guy. Jay said that next week's finale is 45 minutes and all of it was written by Issa Rae, can't wait.
