  1. Fuck Simon, that's all. I loved every bit of Michaela threatening him, mainly because I love Michaela and she was rightfully just sticking up for her man. I don't even truly hate Simon if I'm honest, I'm pretty indifferent to him because the guy hasn't even logged much screen time. Although, I think I should hate him after he pulled that stunt and put up Anna's picture all over campus with the word killer written across her face. Look, for me, this is a show where you just might in fact end up siding with the killers if not the accessories to the killings and cover- ups. It's just that kind of show, and Simon isn't even at the status of Oliver yet in terms of his screen time for me to even consider comparing him to the Keating-5 now 4, please. What? He's supposed to be better than them because he hasn't committed any crimes and so it's good he's sticking it to them? I don't know that for sure, at least not yet, LOL. So again, fuck Simon.
  2. That's what I meant, that it didn't look like a hallway in your average hospital. And we've seen her in the hospital before after the explosion/fire and this place didn't look like that at all. I don't know what or whose blood that was in the elevator, but I'm wondering if Laurel did have that abortion, or a miscarriage and then lost her mind and that stomach is something like a hysterical pregnancy. Now that would a twist, that, that blood in the elevator has nothing to do with the pregnancy and that there hasn't been a pregnancy for some time. Because in that flash forward she also doesn't look like a baby was just cut out of her body. I mean would she even be conscious yet if that happened?
  3. Laurel looks like she's in a psych ward and not the maternity ward in that flash forward. Frank looks helpful and caring, yet obsessive and scary when it comes to Anna.
  4. There were about two to three white men who were not Calvin, who rolled in and out of her bed during the season premiere. They just showed them waking up in the morning then leaving with no conversation. The last one who left tried to talk to her while she was working in her garden, he wanted to hook up again, but she wasn't having it. And this was of course right off the season one finale where she and Calvin decided to go public with their relationship and she got assaulted by his fellow cop when he spit in her face.
  5. I think Nova showed her anger toward Earnest when she left home and rarely visited. She may not roll her eyes at the mention of his name like she dies Lorna's but her actions tell me all I need to know about how she feels for him. She adored him and as far as she's concerned he rejected her in the worse way. Her anger has been directed at him via her choice of mates, basically staying clear of long term healthy relationships particularly with black men. Because the first black man she loved left her as a little girl to go be with his other little girl and her mother. Then had the nerve to commit only when his "golden son" was born.
  6. Go away Laurel, go take down your father yourself and keep Michaela out of it. Again, I can think of a ton of stuff to do with Michaela that don't have shit to do with Laurel's drama, which again should not be at the center if this show IMO. Anna and her case were great. Michaela and Asher love it. Michaela has such a frightening, sinister yet calm way of threatening people, I love it. They need to hurry up and step it up with Connor. There is absolutely no reason for him to go groveling to Laurel for forgiveness, except to repeatedly make shit be all about her and her grief over a character I could not have cared less about. I can't wait for his dad to show up, hopefully he'll get more investment from PN than Michaela and her mother received. Seems like it's Laurel and Connor who will be questioning if they still want to be lawyers. PN did say that some of them would have second thoughts. Quite frankly I think Asher should question his career choice too. He said it's in his blood because of his dad/upbringing but that doesn't mean he'll be successful. I also don't think being a lawyer because it's what his dad was is reason enough to go into the same profession.
  7. Micah and his girlfriend are adorable, she's a keeper. Way to go Kiki, she's made of strong stuff. And I just loved Micah talking to his mom at the end, Micah telling his mom that he's learned a lot from Kiki, and Charlie deciding she was going to put on her own pageant for the black community. Back to Darla and RA, I hate to have to constantly shit on RA, but he just so freaking infuriating, LOL. I mean he gives Darla NO emotional support. Darla got in that truck with tears in her eyes and he knew then that, that guy was one of her old "customers." But no, no way in hell would he ever get out of his feelings and things being just about him to take Darla in his arms and say that it makes him sad that she got so desperate that she had to do that to herself, damn, say something like that and soften your tone. See, when you say it this way, it sounds like you hurt for her and it's not only about what she did wrong.
  8. I don't think they will get married. The focused, delayed camera shot of the kitchen door swinging with that pretty bridal paper with their names on it said it all for me. I caught that lingering shot of their names on that door after she called her parents, was not a good sign. Good lord, all I want is for Darla not to fall off the horse again because of all this, this is too much stress, too much rejection and scorn. No good for her continued recovery. I'm going too be mad if she hits the streets again all strung out, too mad.
  9. Yeah and the series of nameless white men of one night stands, except for Calvin. But again, he's married with kids. But I totally get the psychology of it all when it comes to Nova. Poor Darla, shit, if she wants another chance at a good life, she might have to move out of that area, poor thing. Everyone has to face consequences for their poor choices, but the girl didn't kill, murder, nor steal from anyone (here's looking at your RA for that crime,) she deserves to eventually stop having to look in the rare view mirror of her life. Bye Ralph Angel. He has every right to feel some type a way about running into men that "Star" slept with for money. But his approach of scorning her, and making her feel dirty, yeah he was the turn off for me. And he still doesn't get that while she may have been selfish, she was also very sick, addiction is an illness. It doesn't absolve anyone of the choices they made to hurt others while struggling through said addiction, but it is an illness and more than just oh she was selfish. This show is so darn good.
  10. Oh, and someone needs to school Michaela, namely Asher, that he's no "white Barack," nor will be become one, at least I hope not. You might get a John Kasich out of him but ....LOL. Doesn't she know he's a Republican? She knows, so she better slow her roll. So cut the shit Pete Nowalk, and don't try to push Asher all the way to the left, some growth toward moderate is enough, which is where he seems to be. Hell, my parents were on opposites sides of the aisle and have been married for over fifty years. Of course neither one was extreme so...that's when it can work.
  11. I think Darlene is going to take that ticket, go down south, and recruit another sex worker. I think I saw a new young face of color talking about her to the other sex workers in the preview. Actually, I think like the actress who plays Darlene, she too is from the movie Show Me a Hero. David Simon is great, the actress who plays the reporter/writer is also from SMAH. I think he has a bunch of alumnae from his shows on here.
  12. But that's what happens. It's like when some people say they won't parent like their parents did, but then they do because it's what they know. That's why therapy can be helpful, because even when the habit is bad for you, people still lean into that behavior and actually seek it out in their mates because it's familiar even if it's bad. Speaking of Charlie and her mother, I loved their conversation about Charlie's two worlds and her Caucasian mother doing the best she could to make sure she was armed for those worlds. It was a good scene. Oh and I forgot about Aunt Vi and Hollywood, I do love that Hollywood is showing that he is in tune, or trying to be with his lady love. He knows something is off and sometimes things like this go over these men's heads. They just don't pay attention to details, it's not in their makeup to do so, that's why they're always the last to know. But he's paying attention, good for him.
  13. Well in this case, there is NO way I'm buying that AD is that ignorant, not AD who is behind this operation. This is just part of the story that Charlie's mother is white. I put trust in that talent of AD that in this case, she had to be white for whatever story she intends to tell. At least they got Sharon Lawrence, who I like, so I'm here for it. Her mother's aura definitely explains why Charlie is wound so tight and why Micah knows she's wound so tight so he didn't want to share the awful truth with her. Good job in terms of Davis co-parenting and schooling Micah. But Charlie did prepare viewers for her mother's personality when she was going to the therapy sessions earlier in the season, so I'm not surprised. What I was surprised about is that her mother was married to Earnest, yeah, Charlie referred to him as her ex-husband. Look writers, AD, please lay out what went down exactly, because I'm not clear on it. So was he ever married to RA and Nova's mother? I know they have his last name, but he didn't have to be married to their mother for them both to agree that the children would take his last name. So basically, Nova and RA were born out of wedlock not Charlie, is that it? I need more specifics here. Also, I think Charlie's mother is related to those Landrys. What the hell is up with Darla's and her parents? I get that she may have been disowned when she went down the wrong path, but her reaction to Vi mentioning them, seems like there is more to it, like there is something deeper she's hiding. I mean what would be strange to Vi and Co. if Darla told them that her parents disowned her? I mean Vi and the family cut her off too during that time, so why would she clam up like that would something so strange and shameful to share with them? I'm intrigued by this story. Nova, Nova, Nova, you deserve happiness, I hope you find it. You're still pushing away, and by that I mean, not acknowledging that what'shisname is more than just "a stop by on his run" to you when RA and Blue stopped by. Well looks like Calvin is back from those previews. I love this show, it's an excellent show, haven't been disappointed in general, at least not yet.
  14. Yeah, and this isn't even Grey's Anatomy with annoying Meredith Grey and how everything had to circle back to her. Sorry, don't care if her name was in the title of the show, that show had plenty of other characters played by awesome actors whose story lines could stand on their own WITHOUT having to circle back to Meredith Grey. Shonda and Co. never got that so I was out and couldn't wait to stop watching. I bring up Shonda because PN went to her "university" of writing and show running and some of the stuff he learned from dear Shonda he should leave on the cutting room floor. Because while it worked for Shonda since her shows have stayed on air and have had decent ratings, he's NOT Shonda. The recipe may not work in his hands, he better change some of the ingredients. He can start with leaving out trying to push a character down my throat at the expense of the other interesting characters/actors that he has on staff, cut it out. Laurel is being placed several steps ahead of the other Keatings to point of which she looks like she's about to run even with the real lead of the show, Annalise Keating, that's how I see it. She was placed up front from the start of the show in comparison to the rest of the Keatings because they hooked her up with Frank whose character is on Anna's level. I remember because I initially was really into Laurel and Frank and none of the others were really registering with me; but I knew part of that was because the writers weren't giving them anything much and while they were suppose to be the babies, you had one baby playing footsie with adult Frank. But, it wasn't pissing me off back then, like it's starting to now.
  15. Not for me, because I didn't care much about his relationships with anyone, especially Anna. I actually resented that relationship, every damn thing went back to him first and foremost, even Bonnie knew that and resented it. I'll be done with this show if they don't get back to giving the other characters more personal story lines that last for more than two damn episodes if that much. Yeah, I'm looking at YOU PN and that shitty extremely short-lived job you did with Michaela her mother. Finally, I think they made a big mistake focusing on the character of Wes and his relationship with Anna in laying the ground work for this show. I even thought they may have given the show the wrong title. But the title can work as long as the viewers get the sense that it won't solely be the main characters on the show who get away with murder. This way the writers don't have the added pressure of having this small group of main characters always having to be murderers or accessories to murder every season. Anna is in fact a defense attorney, there can be plenty of murderers who she helps get away with murder because she's a brilliant, shady attorney. It's her job to present the best defense even for a known murderer as their lawyer. I mean if the show is not going to be about a bunch of sick serial killers who take glee in committing murder, and I don't think it was meant to be that show then... These characters I don't think are meant to be that evil nor sick, so you can't have the audience all hyped up rubbing their hands in glee just waiting for which main character this season is going to be able to get away with murder. I think that's what some people are looking for, but I'm not, which is why this slow season premiere was appreciated by this viewer.
  16. I'm here for Asher and Michaela that's about it. There's a whole lot of story that I'm sure will go untapped when it comes to Michaela, what a waste. Oh, and I still like Connor, his hair cut doesn't bother me, he's fine, period. Now he's definitely finer/hotter with more hair and that beard but..In addition, if Oliver makes him happy then I'm for it, but if Oliver went away, I wouldn't miss him either. I don't miss Wes, because I never cared all that much about him and his relationship with Anna, nor his relationship with any other character. But I like Alfred Enoch and hope to see him on screen again in something, because he's hot and he's a decent enough actor, I think. Finally, and most importantly, I don't care WHERE Laurel's baby disappears to, I just don't. Well, I might give two shits if Anna was the one that took it... I think Bonnie is going to work for that DA office to get back at that DA, and not to get back and Anna for dumping her. She would be pissed at the DA for screwing up Anna's life, which turned around and screwed up her life, because Anna cut her loose. In other news, what in hell was that all about, Viola's husband....? I guess a check, cause he got one for that cameo. But I usually do not like when actors act with their significant others. With an exception or two like Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, rest their souls, or Mark Anthony and JLo in that movie El Cantante, that was real good, probably because it was a biopic. Oh yeah, Brad and Angelina in that Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but we all see how that love story turned out, damn. Angelina is a piece of shit for lying about child abuse she went there and that was a huge mistake. He should sue her. But I digress, boy what a tangent. Overall, when these celebrity couples take their love to the screen, that's usually a no, no. Nobody wants to see it on screen usually.
  17. Yeah, it was a realistic moment, but at the same time I rolled my eyes. I'm like girl, you should see that scar as a badge of honor, you had to take that scar, from layers upon layers of cut flesh, in order to bring forth life into this world. He should kiss it and you shouldn't feel an uncomfortable need to explain it nor apologize for it. As for Kevin, I have some empathy for Kevin to a degree, mainly because he's far from the usual loser dad who spreads his seeds all over the damn place. Making babies with multiple baby mamas, yet thinks he can some how parent all those kids effectively in different households *eye roll.* Kevin was finally having to deal with his sexual identity and I don't think his was a case of fully knowing all along what that was and duping Charity into marrying him under false pretenses, which I have no empathy for. As a matter a fact, I could have sworn that they were friends first, best friends or something like that, but I could be wrong. He left, but as far as the timing, I'm not thinking the guy has been gone for like years or even a full year. Add to that, he knows he's lucky because he knows the Greenleaf family is well off and his son definitely won't be lacking in affection nor material things, so he could give himself some time. I believe he left Charity a note, but I don't remember her reading it aloud, and I would have like to have known what he said in that note. All I'm saying is there's been worse behavior by parents, much, much, much worse. All I'm saying is, at least he came back before the child could form the words to ask his mother what happened to his daddy.
  18. I remember it being implied that Kerissa had done something that Jacob had to forgive her for, yep. I definitely remember back in season one while they were trying to work through his affair, Kerissa bringing up something she had done, and him forgiving her for it or not being able to forgive her, but they never got into the details. I assumed that they were referring to her having had an affair too. Then they had a scene or two with her and some younger guy at her job and it made you think that she was about to have an affair with him, but then they dropped that interaction. As a matter a fact, we haven't seen her at that job, did she totally quit? Because it seemed like she was the head master or the principal of that school.
  19. Not me, well, not exactly... But I was totally feeling for Mavis, totally. That's what you get when you try to keep up appearances, phony as hell, James and Lady Mae both. I'll wait for more details, because I'm not even sure that James was messing with Lady Mae first before Mavis. For all I know he was going out with Mavis and knew that the phony "folk" like their first ladies to look like prim/proper light skin Mae. Plus I don't believe Mavis wanted that life, it looks like it kills her to step foot in a church so...yeah, that wouldn't have worked. But I also feel that Mavis doesn't know that Lady Mae was sexually abused by their father, she doesn't know. Because all the shit that has gone down between them including the adultery with James is all about the sickness of their childhoods that will never heal. I even remember Mavis telling Mac that she didn't know how or why he became a child molester, which meant to me that she had no idea what abuses her sister and brother were going through. But then again, how the hell could she, she was put out in the shed as a little girl. Mavis doesn't know that those pretty dresses Mae was getting from their father was all about fulfilling his sick urges. But I damn sure feel for Mavis, the brown skin girl who got the shit beat out of her and was put out to sleep in the shed like some kind of animal. And I'm also here for her not giving a shit about her unrepentant child molesting brother getting killed, poetically I might add, by her niece. Zora's situation...a hot mess, good lord. Maybe she saw and heard quite a bit of the dysfunction in her parent's marriage and that had an affect on her self-worth. Although, I mean, an affair might be a stretch. My parents had an affair, so I guess I deserve to be knocked around by my boyfriend? I mean her parents aren't violent with one another and I don't even think I've ever seen them be unusually cruel when they speak to one another. Like I'm not sure I've seen either parent go out of their way to constantly put one another down. I don't know. It could go all the way back to Zora in season one talking to Sophia about her parents' expectations of her and it being too much, I think I remember something like that and she was out on the lawn somewhere smoking or taking some pill and talking to Sophia. So what's her name is Skank's sister, this is going to be good. James did say to Basie that he didn't remember a son, he remembered a daughter and here she is. The best scene of the finale is hands down Lady Mae and Mavis, awesome, that was really good stuff.
  20. I think this is about control. He doesn't want her talking to/being influenced by anyone, especially someone he doesn't know. He reacted the same way when he saw that writer/reporter in the last episode trying to talk to her. I'm looking for him to burn up that book that little Darlene is reading pretty soon. Anything that brings a ray of sunshine to that poor girl's eyes, he is bound to destroy. She was so excited telling him about the movies she was watching and he wasn't having it with all her excitement. I like this show because of the female characters mostly. I like the way James Franco is playing both of his characters but I just can't focus on his business and the details of what's going on with them. I don't even get, or I missed why he went to the mob? Or did they come to him with the idea of owning that bar? I just zone out from time to time. Candy and Darlene continue to steal the show for me and so does Lori's pimp, whose name I can't remember. I can't stand his character, yet he seems layered and the actor plays him stands out.
  21. I like this show. It's like Boardwalk Empire for me, it's not necessarily a must see for me, but I do remember it's on and I am interested and entertained when I watch it. Unlike the other show that was short lived, I forget the title, about the music industry during this time period, I couldn't get into that one at all. This one, I'm invested in learning about the sex workers, I want to know more about their backgrounds and how they landed up in this life. I really like Candy and Darlene, and I'm happy to see the young actress who plays Darlene in another role. I first saw her in Show Me a Hero, so it's cool that the same writers/producers of that HBO mini series, gave her a role on this series. She's good, she has some acting chops. Every time I see Candy more conservatively dressed, at home her childhood home in the suburbs, visiting her son, I'm like WTF happened?! What?! She loves her son, when she said to her mother to buy him the game Operation, so maybe it it'll inspire him to be a doctor or something else, then she thanked her mother for all that she does for her with a kiss on the cheek, that pulled at my heart strings. I feel her mother knows what she does, or maybe she just knows that where she goes is clearly not a safe environment so she told her to be careful.
  22. I loved the interview and I knew Rachel would do it in a way where she wouldn't get dragged into the splits within the democratic party over election 2016. Because every other reporter/interviewer focused on that, and what she is or is not doing to the sorry ass democratic party *eye roll.* They acted like that was the only thing covered in her book. I knew Rachel wouldn't go into that and I'm thankful because I think you have an extremely smart woman who has lived and is a walking history book, so why not focus more on her political expertise. She is a First and deserves to be deferred to because of her place/role in history.
  23. Issa Rae says this is not the case. She was chuckling at all the comments insinuating that Tiffany is cheating and the baby isn't Derek's. She said no, that's not it, they have had problems, but they are supposed to be the stable couple who worked through them. Actually, I think she covered this in one of her after show reviews. She did a wine down one with a female director and I think another video with a producer.
  24. I don't see Rachel questioning the delay as jumping the gun at all. I don't think she should wait to ask the question and get confirmation on the matter, which is what she was doing last night. The questioning was based on what she considers to be a reliable source in that I believe she was quoting from an article (forgot the name if newspaper). I don't trust what's going on now a days with these folks in power on all sides. They all need be kept on their toes, eyed and questioned constantly within an inch of their lives. And I'm thankful she tries to stay steps ahead of them in her questioning. She often uses terms like "there may be...". "So and so could be..." Or,"Is so and so trying to..." Then she proceeds to present facts and has experts on to say yes, no, maybe..etc.. None of her reporting, speculations come out of thin air or from a place of wanting to sensationalize the news IMO; it comes from being extremely well informed, curious, vigilant in searching for the truth and a never ending side eye that people in power within our government always deserve IMO.
  25. Well I for one did not buy Warner's response at all. He's a democrat and he does not get the final say on whether the transcripts are sent over to Mueller. I inferred from his answer that he was trying to say that they may have to have Manafort testify again and would like to wait until then before handing over the transcripts. Yeah right *eye roll.* Well guess what? This tax paper couldn't care less about the shady investigations in congress. I care about the special counsel investigation Mr. Warner, and so do you. He was just trying not to ruffle feathers with the guy from the other party who runs this committee.
