Here's the thing, GR is an asshole, but he respects and responds to 1) people who work hard 2) people who listen to his advice If you talk back or argue, he's going to come at you 10x. If you take ownership of what's going wrong, tell the truth, he'll buck you up and help you out. Look at Carlos at "In the Drink" dude was in over his head, didn't have the knowledge or training but still worked his ass off and did his best. Gordon didn't yell at him or talk down to him, GR treated him with respect and gave him the tools to succeed.

I agree with this, I read it as Paul being faced with the person he broke up with and trying not to straight up insult the person to their face so trying to take some of the heat on himself with "it's not you, it's me" reasoning. But Vanessa and Micah wouldn't let it go. Vanessa wanted to make a point for TV, and Micah was happy the attention was on Paul instead of her behavior and was hoping that if they spent enough time on Paul they'd move on to someone else afterwards. It was completely obvious that Micah did not want to be at the reunion.

Cole has a lot of faults, but at his core he's just a clueless "bro" who wants to have fun. He has no depth, he's just a blunt tool (in both respects of the word). He tried to apologize in his mind, but he had no idea what he did wrong, just that he messed up. So of course he was confused as to why Z didn't want to stay together after the wedding and work things out. He needs to get some strong female influences in his life to sit him down and tell him "here's where you messed up" rather than surrounded by other buds in their 20s to tell him "Dunno man! Women be crazy!" He's a project and he needs to work on himself a lot, but he's not a monster.
