I liked this episode a lot. Zoe's relationship dramas with Luca (who I love cuz he's so pretty but didn't really miss, like, at all) and her smugness and insecurities were not front and center, and it made for a more interesting, funny dynamic with the rest of the cast. I liked Kate Moenning as the new professor too. I also want a Korean hand mask and weed brownie Thursday.

I could NOT figure out who Kyra was at first...I knew I recognized her, but I kept thinking 'is she a Smollet?'....but no, she's Hush Puppy! I thought she did a good job, and tho I don't think they need more kids, I like her and am fine with her staying awhile.

I don't eat meat anymore, but when I did, a Hot Brown was ambrosial, nectar of the gods, delicious, to die for food. Seriously, ya'll. I live a couple blocks from the Brown, where they were invented (and used to just go there and purchase a pint or two of the Mornay sauce when I made Hot Browns at home, cuz it's so good and why make it when you can get it straight from the source for a few bucks). Many Louisville restaurants have a Hot Brown on their menu. This was a very hard episode to watch for a vegetarian. I actually cried at one point. I realize that I shouldn't probably even be watching cooking shows if I'm that sensitive, let alone one entitled Carne, but hearing all the talk of 'breaking down the animal' and 'celebrating the slaughter'...that was rough. I love Eddie, can't help it, and I'm glad he won. When the episode started, and he was talking on the phone with his daughter, I was afraid he was a goner. Lena Waithe is cool AF. I've eaten at Decca a few times, it's very good. It's just fun to see our local sites on television.

Splitting Up Together - General Discussion

I don't really know Rowan Blanchard but she made an impression. China was an annoying know it all teen, but she has great presence. I loved how the whole thing with Mae was handled. I continue to find this show charming and adorable and unique, and continue to be baffled that it hasn't much of an audience. Martin: "I really want you to taste my nachos next time. They're really good!" -
Zoe is kind of insufferable. Confidence is great, and it would be impossible to not know how pretty you are when you look like that, but she's smug and arrogant, when she's not being insecure about everyone not thinking she's the best and most beautiful and enviable. it's not a great combo. I didn't get Jazz being such a bitch to her, tho, still. I don't guess I realized Zoe had been struggling so much in her design class; it just felt like she gave up really easily when confronted with not being a 'genius'. So what now? She and Haley Dunphy should really start a firm and become stylists. Loved the purply gown Luca designed.

I liked the Cam/Mitchell story mostly because I too harbor a long standing and forever David Duchovny crush, and I recognized the cover photo of that Playgirl immediately. I kept hoping he'd show up at the gym or something, cuz the man still looks fiiiine. I am bugged by the Haley/Dylan having to live with Claire and Phil storyline...where is everyone going to GO? it's a big house, but it's still full of people and adding three more to the mix is kind of horrifying to think about. As has been mentioned, them not setting Haley and Dylan up in Cam and Mitch's upstairs apartment seems like a missed (and more rational) opportunity. We knew Dylan had step kids but I'm not sure we knew they were twins. Who played his mom? I loved that she was a video vixen who is now channeling DeeDee in a big way.

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0914937/ Vernee Watson. She's 64, and plays annoying Aunt Stella on GH. She's worked constantly since the '70s, I didn't realize!

She's currently a regular on General Hospital as well.

I don't know if I'm too old or something, but I absolutely can't figure out what Zoey even had to apologize for. She was worried about her friend when she saw the boyfriend there (altho, wtf? he can't even go have a drink in the dorm where he lives if she's not there?), and she reached out to the other friends. What did she do wrong? And why were Nomi and Ana mad at her? And Jazz wasn't even actually mad at her boyfriend for being at the party, but mad to the point of cutting Zoey off even tho she was trash talking Zoey in a group text earlier in the week? Ugh. I might have been this bad when I was 19, but I dunno. I don't think I was EVER this much all up in all my friends' bizness. Luca tracking Zoey down at the nurses's office (infirmary? whatever it was) and joking with her was the most playful I've ever seen him be. He's beautiful and cool but rarely shows much personality, so I liked that.

Splitting Up Together - General Discussion

I love this show. it's just so weird and charming and weird and quirky and weird. I could watch Jenna Fischer be high every episode. Or not high. Lena might kind of driver me crazy in real life, but JF is so funny. I love Oliver Hudson too. I also love Lena's sis and the waiter, who I keep thinking is gay, tho that's no doubt cuz the actro plays Andre Braugher's hubby Kevin on Brooklyn 99. I don't really understand why no one much is watching this, and I'll be sad if it's cancelled. -
I've lived in Kentucky my entire life and I'd never heard of it, let alone tasted this supposedly Kentucky speciality, tho I do believe it's the same thing as 'transparent' pie, which is basically a chess pie, which is, you know, sugar and eggs. Or I could be wrong. I've been to several distillery tours, but never to Maker's Mark, for some reason. It sure looked pretty. Eddie reminds me of actor Patrick Fugit, who I find adorable, so I'm not hating on him the way I am apparently supposed to, because I'm shallow. So far, I really like Eric, Kelsey, justin and Nini, and I really liked Natalie, so i'm sad she's gone. The only contestant I flat out don't care for is Brandon.

In This is Us parlance, he's kind of a Toby. Makes BIG scenes in public, expecting (and getting, cuz this is television and not real life) accolades and laughs, and thinks bullying his girlfriend into doing what he wants is a sign of love.

I think it was too, tho I can't find confirmation of it. It WAS a little weird that they cast an actress for that scene who does look so much like Constance Zimmer; I did a double take myself. Also, I kind of think Maggie and Gary were annoying in that scene. Sure, it's nice to let the people behind you with only one item go first when you have several, but their oh-so-witty haranguing might have made me dig in my heels too. Also, did Delilah tell Eddie 'you were a good father earlier'...in regard to her and JON'S kids? Or maybe she meant when he leapt to take her to the hospital with their unborn kid. Either way, it struck me as a weird comment.

If we were on FB, this would be getting a laughing-til-crying emoji thingy. And yes.

I actually think the Ashley/Jon think might be a fakeout too...I think it's POSSIBLE that she just assumed he was taking her to this apartment because he was hitting on her, and she was receptive to that, and kissed him as soon as they got inside. The kiss looked, to me, to be initiated by Ashley, and Jon's reaction, what little we saw, was sort of not completely responsive. I don't know. I don't expect much of this show but the affair thing is so EASY and predictable that yeah, I was hoping they wouldn't go there. I also don't think Maggie is the 'can't believe she's gone' girl. Cosign the 'ewww' after Gary kissed the newly barfed in mouth of Maggie. Just no. I'll hug you, I'll even kiss your cheek or forehead after that, but I'm not putting my mouth on yours after you've JUST puked, I don't care if you're my honey or Jason Momoa or Mads Mikkelsen, just no. Delilah has some huge set of balls to go to Katherine for legal help. Seriously?? I wanted the daughter to find out Eddie is the baby daddy and knock them both on their asses. And these people! How do people of this age find ALL THIS TIME to hang out with each other, even showing up to see Eddie off on his tour, after having just spent the evening with him?? This is something 22 year olds might do ,but how do all these fortysomethings manage it? Even if I HAD the time, I don't have the energy or inclination.

I loved Pops throwing out 'Cornbread Earl and Me' since Laurence Fishburne was actually in that flick.

Plus, John Goodman is old and schlumpy...but he's got charisma. I once happened to be in a little blues bar where he wandered in and took the stage for an impromptu concert, and he was much younger then but also much BIGGER, but I unexpectedly got a little swoony. He's got swagger. Dan doesn't so much, right now, but he always did, and Katey Sagal's character knew him as a high school football star. Smarts, humor and confidence can make somebody not conventionally attractive really....attractive. I really liked Katey n him together, hope she comes back. I can't get over how much I love Lecy now.

I'm sad Lena sent Vlad away. They had chemistry. I can't help it, I like this show. It's spiky and weird and unexpected and the leads are so charming. A minority opinion, I guess, but I look forward to it each week. Paige's sky high stiletto boots made me metaphorically fall down just looking at them. And her posing as she slept in her teddy made me kind of want to smack her. She looked great tho.

Oh, Eddie's a douchebag. He's cute and has some charm, so he skates, but he's an asshole. And I need a little more exposition on why the group apparently seemed to hate Katherine...cuz she worked too much? Cuz she got tired of taking care of a drunk man-child? Why, especially, did Gary seem to dislike her? And yes...you don't just bone your BFF's wife without some serious issues at play there. Do you? I don't know.

I know of a couple Lexington restaurants that offer it, but it's still pretty Louisville-centric, as it was created here. Bobby Flay comes to Derby sometimes, and he fell in love with them and used to offer them on some of his menus in some of his restaurants, but I don't know if he does anymore. It's definitely still fairly exclusive to the area.

I live in Louisville, and it has become, in the last decade or so, a real foodie town . Fried chicken and BBQ are the least of what is offered these days. I don't eat meat anymore, and I miss the Hot Brown, tho I've had plenty of veggie/vegan versions that are ALMOST as good. I live two blocks from the Brown Hotel, where it originated, and when I actually made Hot Browns, I'd just go in there and they'd let you buy a quart of so of their mornay sauce (I don't pretend to be a chef, top or bottom or otherwise) cuz it's so freaking good. I could drink it.

I don't think it reflected badly on anyone, Delilah is a free agent, however encumbered by guilt, messy relationship problems, widowhood and babies.... I just eyerolled that so many men seem to find Delilah such a temptress, while she annoys me so much. I said my hatred of her was likely unreasonable. I also assumed he was filling up his car and saw them BOTH approach, well before Maggie got into the car, and overheard their convo. But whatever. I can't think we're really supposed to be rooting for them...at least not yet. Unless something comes out about Jon that renders him a terrible man, in retrospect, something that will make us think 'well, he was a piece of shit, who cares if his wife cheated on him with one of his BFFs', it's just an icky springboard for the relationship. And again, probably my annoyance with Delilah, but I've not seen an ounce of chemistry between her and Eddie. Also...I'd forgotten til last week that Eddie spoke at Jon's funeral. That seems SO disrespectful and gross to me. Even if all the friends expected him to speak, cuz they didn't know about the affair, he and Delilah knew. He should have begged off.

Sure, guys hit on random women. But this guy didn't hit on Maggie...he hit on Delilah, who's apparently irresistible for reasons I can't see, like, at all. But yeah, when she DOES reach out to GSM, he'l probablyl still find her irresistible, even with all of her baggage...for reasons I can't comprehend. Well, I think James Tupper is hot. No idea who or what GSM is all about yet. He might be a creepy troll.

Ugh, this show. I don't WANT to be hate-watching it, I want to like it, but it keeps trying my patience every episode. There are things I DO like, so I keep watching, but it just could be so much better. First off....we need more Ron Livingston. I know he's dead and all, but every scene he was in was brighter, sparklier, more alive and real, and I could listen to him white boy rap every day. If we are supposed to have any actual empathy for Delilah, tho, it doesn't help that he seems so warm and empathic and she seems smug and cold and superior. Yeah, people think you cheated on him because you did cheat on him. I hate her, seriously. And yes, why does nobody call her out on it? cuz she's a pregnant special delicate widow flower? Whatever. And of COURSE the hot guy at the gas pump is immediately smitten with the pregnant cheating widow, because sure. Also, tho of course people of all ages listen to music of all eras, the 'best duo ' convo between Maggie and Delilah seemed inorganic. Hall and Oates and Simon and Garfunkel are great, sure, but way before Maggie's time, anyhow. And of course, Delilah smugly throws out '50 ways to leave your lover' as an S&G song, which: shut up Delilah, and then she challenges the hot gas station guy about naming an S&G song, as if that's an actual challenge, altho she can't even get it right? Seriously, I am probably unreasonable in my dislike of her, but it grows every episode.
