People loved Walter White? Gross Murphy was often a terrible person, but I never hated her. I did hate this ending tho. I wanted nothing more than for Josh to die horribly, but when he did, it was disturbing, wholly unsatisfying, and even nauseating. Aidan's kids would be mostly grown up by now, wouldn't they? Mid to late teens, probably? They probably wouldn't be around much anyway. I'm always happy to see John Corbett. And this past season's version of Carrie was actually one of the few things I liked about it. She's much more likable in her 50s than her 30s. Still, she doesn't deserve yet another chance with Aidan. I would like it if he was hanging with Steve, thought Miranda was a POS, and told Carrie "no, thank you."

Neither Bob O or Rhea subscribe to this theory. They both choose to believe Kim will keep visiting him, and don't really want to know if the writers intended differently. I kind of don't want to know either. I'm not the hopeless romantic that Rhea says she is, and I'm also mostly ok if that was the only visit, because they said all they needed to to each other, without needing to use words to express it. The love and understanding between them was so tangible. And they were never much of a touchy feely or physical couple, really, but that wall-cigarette scene was almost outrageously sexy to me. The way he cupped her hands in his white looking into her eyes, the close lean in. Damn.

I thought it was beautiful and sad and satisfying. I did wish for a musical coda, I gotta admit, but ultimately, I was happy with this. I had joked that I wanted Jimmy to wind up in prison, and sent to Kentucky State Reformatory, where his bunkmate turns out to be a loquacious, charismatic fellow named Boyd Crowder. That didn’t happen, obvs (and the timeline is all wrong anyhow) but this ending did harken back to that one, for me. I spent 6 years expecting Boyd Crowder to never leave Harlan alive, and ultimately, he did. Prison was better than death, and even though it’s tough to see a character we care about locked up and caged, even when he deserves it, at least he was still alive. And when Raylan Givens visited him in the show’s final scene, Boyd was thriving. Smart con men do that. And it looks like Jimmy—or Saul—is doing fine in prison. He’s liked, he’s probably helping inmates with legal stuff, he’s thriving as much as anyone ever can in prison. I don’t know if I agree that he deserves to die there, but that’s what’s going to happen. He’s making the best of it. The scene between him and Kim—still brunette, but with a kickier ‘do—was film noir perfection. The shared cigarette, the brief but vivid flame, the leaning against the wall together, harkening back to the 1st episodes…the heat and chemistry and love between them was so palpable that I actually gasped a little. It’s no happy ending, but it was about as happy as it was ever going to be. I get that some are displeased with it, or wanted them both to pay more, or to run off into the sunset together, or whatever, but I thought it was pretty brilliant, and tragic, and fitting, and heartbreaking but not unbearable. That’s what I want from a series finale.

I like Junior, but honestly, tho I often couldn't stand Zoey, I'd rather just watch her adventures in fashion in NYC. With Aaron. They both just have a lot of charisma, even when their characters annoy.

Vince Gilligan joked last nite on Talking Saul that they were stupid and did not get any money for product placement for Cinnabon or any of the mayo-y things.

On Talking Saul, Vince Gilligan said that was his wife Holly sitting next to Kim on the shuttle, who reached out a hand to her. They actually rode around for hours on the Alberquerue airport shuttle, filming that. Rhea also informed us that her family is a Duke's mayo family, even displaying the half-empty jar. And she's not a fan of Miracle Whip. I agree that Kim hasn't cried in 6 years, so that was 6 years of pain, guilt, fear and sorrow pouring out.

I believe she has. And she's already decided she's leaving Jimmy too. That was a goodbye kiss. I just realized I kind of thought Ayre Gross and Arliss Howard were the same person. No, Ayre Gross is NOT married to Debra Winger. I felt just an overwhelming sadness after this episode, on so many levels. I can't root for Jimmy or Kim anymore, but that doesn't mean its not tragic. Yeah, the hooker looked a little like Kim.

I would consider myself a casual Elvis fan at best, but I grew up with the biggest Elvis fan alive: my mom. So I'm pretty well versed in Elvis lore and his music. And there's nothing in this film that was new information for me (tho it sometimes plays a little fast and loose with actual facts), and tho of course the story of Elvis, ending with his much-too-young death, is an inherently sad one...still, I wasn’t prepared for how emotionally affecting, even devastating, this film would be for me. It's loud and lurid, flashy and over the top, so: not a conventional biopic, its definitely a Baz Luhrmann biopic, about the King, who also rarely met an excess he didn't like. It's both artistic and trashy. I happen to love Baz's stuff, but I know he's divisive. Austin Butler probably does looks more like a young John Travolta than Elvis, but he's astonishing here. His is no mere impersonation, this is a fully immersive, fully committed embodiment of the man and the myth. He clearly really studied Elvis. He has his distinctive gestures and swaggery hip-shot walk and even his laugh down cold. It's genuinely a star making performance, an Oscar worthy one. Surprisingly the weakest link here, for me, is Tom Hanks, buried beneath a fat suit and jowly prosthetics and that seriously bizarre accent sounds like a Hogan's Heroes Nazi villian. Parker was Dutch but passed himself off as being from West Virginia, and his real life accent sounded Southern, with maybe a slight lisp. Why Hanks and Luhrmann went this route is kind of baffling and off putting. Parker was a villian in Elvis' life, to be sure, and Luhrman and Hanks definitely present him as cartoonishly monstrous, without an ounce of subtlety or nuance. If he had a mustache, he'd be twirling it. He's like a bloated, liver colored, blood engorged tick, deeply unpleasant and grotesque, and we're clearly supposed to hate him. But the performance is so weird and hamfisted that I loathed every second he was onscreen, and he's onscreen far too much. But that aside, the film is dazzling and emotional and poignant. We see Elvis from childhood (where he discovers the gospel and black roots music that influenced his entire career. Whether that's appropriation or appreciation or both is a matter of perspective.) thru his early days onstage alternately electrifying and horrifying audiences with his nice- southern-boy-turns-feral-sex-god. There's no surprising or new information, and yet somehow Luhrman and Butler make it fresh and intimate and near-Shakespearean levels of tragedy. (By the end, my friend said "if I was watching this home alone, I'd be bawling my eyes out" at the same time I was saying "This is the saddest movie I've ever seen.") The music is great, imo, with Butler singing most of the songs, his voice sometimes blended with Elvis. and there's an especially pretty, melancholy version of "Can't Help Falling in Love" from Kasey Musgraves. The scene near the end, where he's so bloated and bleary and sick and drugged out, but nonetheless sits at a piano and pounds out Unchained Melody...that was so poignant and sad. Despite everything, his voice was still rich and strong and beautiful, and his proud smile when he finishes was heartbreaking. And the footage of real Elvis, throughout the years....no matter how beautiful Austin Butler is, there was maybe no one more beautiful than Elvis Presley at the height of his powers. I don't think you'd have to be an Elvis fan, or even all that familiar with him and his music, to be moved and entertained by this movie.

So happy this show is back. Feel a little sad about Oscar, is the actor just not on this season? Not sure how i feel about Cara D yet as Mabel's new love interest. She's effortlessly cool, anyway. Took me a second to realize that was Shirley MacLaine in that fabulous jacket, but omg, she's amazing. I was also thinking she IS Rose, but not sure that makes any sense. Continue to love Mabel's wardrobe. I'm not sure if it was this episode or the 1st, but she's rocking a black checked mini, tights, black docs, and a cobalt sweater in one scene and I had almost that exact outfit when I was about Selena's age, which was a LONG time ago. Sigh. I loved that outfit. And the body i had back then. And that it never really went out of style. Or maybe I'm so old it just came back around. Ok, why does literally everyone here hate Amy Schumer so much? I know she's kind of divisive but I didn't realize how much, apparently. I've always liked her. I loved Inside Amy Schumer, I loved Trainwreck, I LOVE her new show Life & Beth--on which, just incidentally, Michael Rappaport plays her dad-'and would recommend it to everyone, but it looks like nobody here would take me up on that. Somebody enlighten me on why she's so widely reviled? All that said, I'm not quite sure how I feel about her placement here. She's clearly playing a version of herself, as did Sting, and she's leaning into the campiness a little too hard maybe, but she still made me laugh.

But she is American. Am I missing something? I have loved this series and wish more people were talking about it. Just watched Nancy and Sid. Poor terrible Nancy. Probably because I read And I Don't Want to Live this Life long ago, and was kind of haunted by it, I've always felt such sympathy for her, tho I've no doubt I probably would have disliked her in real life as much as everyone did. She was such a mess. Chrissie being kind to her definitely feels like fiction. She was none too kind in writing about her in her memoir. I know a lot of liberties have been taken with the facts here, but more appears to be accurate than not, and I think the cast is fantastic.

So meh.

I'm so sad. This will definitely impact the show. He will be missed.

So Kat never really wanted a cat cafe? How do randi and Phil expect to pay to keep it open? If the show comes back, will kat go back to being a professor or something? I'm very much assuming that she contributed that 4 grand to another agency to help the cats she was apparently just dumping back into the system or whatever. She better not have used that to go to Paris. My biggest takeaway: Ted Wass is almost 70 and he could still get it. He's aged very well

Becky and Ben have far more chemistry together than he and Darlene. The wrecking-a-perfectly-good-house story line--when they have no money to build a new one, and the reason for doing it still evades me: cuz atheist Darlene is scared of spirits of deadfolks?---enrages me. My honey is a working musician and the contrabassoon story enrages him. He knows and works with tons of other musicians, but doesn't know anyone who plays the contrabassoon, and the idea that this kid, who has never played any musical instrument, is trying to get a scholarship by learning to play, is stupid, he says. He did laugh at Christopher Lloyd's line about only 3 people knowing how to play it tho, cuz: accurate. I don't necessarily want the show to not come back, but I do want it to get better.

Its a creepy storyline and I can see why KC wouldn't want to do it, but nowhere does it say that Samantha is painted as a pedophile or a pervert due to it. The pics are "unwanted" and not asked for or appreciated, obviously. It makes Brady look like a creepy little wanker, but I'm sure Sam would have shut him down.

Zoey went full Carrie Bradshaw in NYC. So were Nomi and Phil together together, or was he just moving to be near them? I'd like to see the show in NYC. But Junior's in Cali. Will zoey &Aaron move back, or will the show be bi-coastal? Where does Doug fit in? I wonder if we'll see familiar faces guest starring occasionally?

Well, good news is there's not a requirement to watch it. I will , tho. I definitely had issues with season, and it’s sad that I'd be perfectly happy if Miranda never came back from California, but I'm still weirdly happy it got renewed (Stockholm syndrome?) and hold out a modicum of hope that they'll do better next season.

This show is so lovely. It's over too soon! Sam singing her song and dedicating it to Joel was unbearably sweet. Sam's mom heading into the dark barn was ominous, and left open ended. I assume it means her sobriety is already probably over but it could go darker than that, as well. Tricia going to Charity's husband's place was also open ended. A little revenge boning? Go for it. I'm appalled at Charity's absolute lack of any apparent remorse, guilt, shame or sadness in regard to Tricia. They were supposed to be BFFs as well as partners, Charity had an affair with Tricia's husband, and yet she's acting like the offended party, snarky and defiant and petulant. Who the fuck does that? Are she and Rick still banging? Joel taking charge and ordering them to their separate corners was beautiful. He was so masterful!

I like Lisette too. She's so pretty, and her story obviously had some potential. Bobby Lee aka Jackie is 50 years old tho. Same generation as the SATC ladies.
