  1. I finished it and it was pretty entertaining. I'm not so much a fan of the "Next Food Network Star" type judging on live demos and personality, but I accept that it's important for this sort of role. Fortunately this show kept that as just a part of the judging. At the end they showed the winner doing a "bit" on the real show, so we'll see how much of a real career this is as we move forward.
  2. yeah my dad was about 77 when my mom died, and he started dating a couple years later, and ended up spending his last 7 or so years with a lovely lady, which I was fine with. But I can't imagine him acting like a gigolo or whatever. That would not make me happy AT ALL.
  3. I'm the type of woman who really likes "nice guys," but I have to say, Harry gives me weird vibes. It's like he would never be able to give sexy vibes, ever. He seems to not be good at all at reading body language, knowing when "the time is right," etc.
  4. (it wasn't me) but I believe the poster said that the actress played the mother in a spanish-language version of Ugly Betty, where she was the actual mother of the equivalent of America Ferrera.
  5. Given the title of the episode, I guess our hopes for a more appropriately-behaving crew seem dashed.
  6. Micky's mother
  7. a while ago it was a company selling freeze dried food that can last 20 years. Somehow if things are that bad, do you think you've got enough good water to rehydrate that food? And you better be fortified like Will Smith in "I Am Legend."
  8. Thanks. That was an interesting article. I still don't like Marc's comments much.
  9. But you get (one) glass of "punch" too!!!!
  10. I believe that the final three guys standing are all gay. They all have referred to themselves as "she" or "girl" multiple multiple times. Is this a thing? I also find it tiresome that Marc keeps gushing over Robbie's muscles or Dan Souza's good looks. It seems kind of inappropriate.
  11. I am a big V-brothers fan, but that menu is ridiculous.
  12. I don't think it was awful either. I particularly liked what he did with the waistband pleating, which no one (as far as I know) mentioned. The floaty crop top didn't really work, and the sleeves were too large, but it was not awful.
  13. Yeah, I don't think she was talking about Brittany's look. She was saying "safe" was equivalent to "something you could get at Target." Certainly Brittany didn't seem to take any offense. She seemed to be mostly nodding along, trying not to get involved in Korto's drama.
  14. I think bisme has it- I like Brittany's stuff- she is very "commercial" in a good way but they judges always tend toward weird. Rami's dress was beautiful but I think not weird enough to win this thing.
  15. what was all that about Brandon dragging himself out of bed for this? Was it at 2 in the morning?
  16. It looked like the floodlights were right in their faces, which is *perhaps* why they were wearing sunglasses. It looked like Brandon was shielding his eyes at one point. I thought the fabric she chose was doing all the work.
  17. I don't remember whether he suggested it, but at the end Christian did say he was glad she got rid of the lining.
  18. The timeline was weird on this one. The afternoon/evening before (apparently right after the auf of Anna) Christian tells them the challenge, then says "and you will have time to sketch at the hotel tomorrow morning." Did they take away all their paper and pencils until that time? (I remember an old McMillan and Wife episode where their house got wrapped for a bug bomb with them inside it and all the knives and scissors had been removed. One remembers the strangest things.) And sure enough, Brittany hands out pens the next morning. Don't the usually get the challenge just before the sketch and go to Mood time?
  19. Yeah I wish they would tone that down: the endless dinners out with everyone getting hammered. I like to see the chef get challenging assignments, I like to see the water toys used, I like to see well-executed beach picnics. We used to see the cities/towns, but apparently no more. That was nice. And sure, the inevitable interpersonal challenges are part of it. But the drunkenness is a bore.
  20. It's funny, I've seen that ad many times, and never noticed the non-sequitur, probably because I just mentally inserted it since it's such a cliche! I'll have to pay more attention next time it's on :)
  21. You mean Luke climbing into her bed naked? I find it hard to believe someone would be willing to trash his public reputation that way. But that's just me.
  22. I don't know what I would do without google to educate me on slang acronyms :)
  23. I'm watching the episode where they have to reimagine classic ATK recipes without the main ingredient. I just started, so I can't spoil anything, but I'm really annoyed that they just said something like "pizza with no dough," "crab cakes with no crab." It should have been "pizza for someone who is gluten free" or "crab cakes for someone with a shellfish allergy." So the pizza person started by thinking "tortilla," but then decided she wanted to stay away from bread (which I think is really smart; who of a certain age doesn't remember french-bread-pizza or english-muffin-pizza? Which does no good for someone with celiac disease). Meanwhile the "no crab crab cakes" guy is using lobster. Um duh, and VERY unoriginal. I bet he gets seriously dinged for that. But they really should have specified WHY the restriction is there.
  24. Narcissism? If so, yes I think so. She is just thinking of herself and has zero desire to put herself in someone else's shoes.
