  1. I'm a very amateur bread baker (and don't do it with time limits) but I wondered why they were all fanning their rolls like crazy people. Would a few minutes in the fridge have been a bad idea?
  2. but I was talking about Sandra (the Black woman, not the short haired woman). This was my comment about Sandra: OMG kermit voice. Yes! 'He does seem a bit of a drip. What is he ACTUALLY like, other than "kind"?
  3. I've been away for a few weeks so am dropping in after missing a lot. But poor Sandra seems very uncomfortable here (like I would be). She always seems to be holding back. I'm guessing she's way too introverted for this. Did she get a one-on-one while I was away?
  4. Majong, Hopscotch, Canasta???? I'm 62 and I have no idea what she's talking about. Sounds like she's a full generation older than me. This woman was a teen in the freakin' 60s or 70s?
  5. I still think he's kinda sexy in those ads despite .... everything. I was just in Spain and he's advertising that product in *huge* signs along the streets. I am still attracted. (duck)
  6. it seems like when those ads first came out, they cut away just before the slap on the butt for diarrhea. Now we get the slap on the butt.
  7. I think that might be it
  8. I haven't been watching the last few weeks, but on this version is there a lot of talk about "our journey"? That always drove me nuts.
  9. that's a good point. My dad started seeing a woman after my mother died, when he was older than Gerry, about 80. But very intentionally they didn't move in together or get married. Too many complications, and who knows which one might end up in assisted living or whatever (my father was the one).
  10. if that's true, that makes me really sad. He had me sold.
  11. I have noticed that a lot of the women on the show have very smooth faces but very slumping necks and arms. I'm not body-shaming-- just pointing out that you can't really hide your age. I think it's better to accept the wrinkles.
  12. I hate watching this idiot blow out the candles on (I mean SPIT ALL OVER) the birthday cake. After what we've been through the last three years, it REALLY bugs me.
  13. Personally I think that with so many women dying their hair for at least 20 years (or even permanently) after it's gone gray is what makes people think that a woman with gray hair is REALLY old. It reminds me of a quote from Gloria Steinem (obviously) a long time ago:
  14. well that must have been interesting!
  15. That one's on my list-- I am probably more tolerant of cozy mysteries (I've read a number of book series in that genre) so I imagine I'll enjoy it. Thanks for the review!
  16. exactly right
  17. I was getting SO MAD at her at doing that. He put up with it way longer than she had any right to expect. I know it's hard as the baker wants to be "nice" but she needs to read the room better.
  18. yeah, I'd never heard of custard powder. What are its ingredients? What does "custard" taste like actually? cream and egg and sugar as far as I can tell.
  19. I'd never heard of "parma violet" either. I started typing it into Google and one of the top links was "why does parma violet taste like soap" or something to that effect.
  20. I noticed that as well. Not a real meal, not to mention a glass of beer or wine (I know diners don't typically offer that). It occurred to me, maybe some of the women (or even Gerry, I haven't really paid attention) have given up alcohol for any number of reasons.
  21. Who hands their cat to a friend to give a treat to? There's a companion ad where the wife is calling her husband at the grocery store with an SOS that they need more STAT! These people are way too invested in giving their cats treats.
  22. what exactly was going on with that? Were they blinking on and off? And why the HELL didn't he pull over? That's dangerous!
  23. can someone more expert on all things Bachelor fill me in? At the beginning when they were walking up to THE MANSION and making a big deal about it-- is that a different place than where they had the meet and greet in last week's episode? I always thought THAT was the mansion. So where did they all sleep the night before this episode?
