  1. The way the Lexus guy talked when he was in the workroom made me suspect it wasn't an outright win. He said something to the effect the winning designer would have a Lexus 'for your use'. Glad to have my suspicions confirmed.
  2. Hi everyone, maculae has created a General Discussion thread that you can use to discuss anything that doesn't fit into another thread. Let's keep this thread to non-show talk. Reminder that if you don't see a thread that fits your topic go ahead and start one.
  3. I had not realized we were at the season finale already. Louis was great. First at the beginning of the episode when he was so worried about Harvey being sick. Then pitching in to save Harvey. Those were my favorite parts. I did not start off as a Louis fan but I've turned around on that. One point that bothered me was Jessica telling Rachel she was going to work there and be family as a future event and discounting the years she has already worked there. Are paralegals not included in the family?
  4. Scheduling alert: due to the Master's, TAR may be delayed on the East Coast. Please plan accordingly!
  5. Lamb18 - I agree. The designers were hampered by the lack of time both in planning and sewing and also in the judges perspectives. It's only been 4 days since the last challenge if I calculated correctly. Although the designers should have been prepared coming in to the show with what they wanted to create for a final collection. They showed so little of the preparation compared to PR and that was a missing element for me. Overall I liked Oscar's collection the best. Did not like the black dress with two slits the first time he did it and even less when it didn't fit well. The rest of his collection I did really enjoy. Tim Gunn has been guesting on How I Met Your Mother all season as Barney's suit guy so that may be why Neil Patrick Harris was guest judge.
  6. Was Sack Lunch the movie Elaine went to or wanted to go to instead of The English Patient?
  7. Maharincess, I have run into this with WGN. It's on at 3am(ish) for a few weeks and gets picked up by my DVR then disappears. It is on FXX weekdays from 11am - 1pm Eastern. FXX is a spinoff channel from FX that not everyone knows about. Both the episodes you mentioned are among my favorites as well!
  8. First off, I struggled with what pronoun to use in the thread title. Should it be how I/we/you became a fan? If you have an opinion please share. English major here but I need a lifeline on this one. I became a fan in a roundabout way. Short story - I came for Riker and stayed for Picard. Longer version - it all started with Genie Francis from General Hospital (Laura). As a teen I followed her to an ABC miniseries called North and South. Jonathan Frakes (Francis' future husband) was also in the cast. I had a bit of a crush and then found him on Next Generation. Ultimately my favorite episodes feature Picard, which I'll save for another thread. To paraphrase Q to Riker "You were more fun before the beard." My brother was shocked and horrified that his little sister liked TNG as it somehow indicated it was soapy, which it kind of was. This scenario repeated itself with the show Tour of Duty (about soldiers in Vietnam) when I followed Kim Delaney from All My Children and my other brother was horrified there was now a woman in the primary cast.
  9. Is this streaming somewhere? I've never seen the first season.
  10. Was Robbie Rist cousin Oliver? I play trivia at a bar near my house and one of the other teams is named Cousin Oliver. Sadly a lot of the other teams don't get the reference. If you haven't heard this week's Extra Hot Great podcast take a listen. Game Time is Bands on the Run and the Brady's own Silver Platters are one of the questions. Keep on Dancing everybody!
  11. And don't forget the straits of Massachusetts! That was a great episode.
  12. Agreed this would be tough to make today. I stumbled across it on ESPN Classic a few months ago and was sucked in to watching a few weeks. I vividly remember watching it as a kid. Verizon changed the packages not long ago and moved it into a sports bundle that I have no interest in so can't watch it anymore. The stars truly were the stars of the then-current shows and they appeared to have trained for the competition. Several were injured and still continued on. Today there are so many networks and shows that the pool of stars is diluted. And like Sonoma says above it's hard to imagine so many of them willing to be filmed less than perfectly camera ready.
  13. In the Chuck episode Chuck versus Tom Sawyer the climatic scene is set to (of course) "Tom Sawyer" by Rush. Love it! It's also setup by a funny exchange between Chuck and Morgan about the Zune.
  14. I was annoyed by so many things in this episode. I wish I could stop watching but I continue to hope for the day when Tom Selleck shows a smidgen of the humor he did as Magnum.
