  1. Adding to my answer above. Maybe my knife example could be used in a case of stranger rape to identify someone. Here there is no identity issue.
  2. I'm not surprised by this decision. I read all of the main decision last night. It's a technical issue in evidence law, and nonlawyers may tend to call it BS. As @Quof says above, due process requires that even a scummy jerk like Harvey Weinstein get a fair trial. Evidence from non-charged crimes can sometimes be admitted to show a pattern or MO (like someone always carried this kind of weird knife that no one else had--it's hard to come up with an example that isn't in a gray area). Otherwise it just sounds like a pile on, i.e., he's the kind of guy who commits rape. So that's why such evidence is usually excluded.
  3. The recaps on Vulture/New York Magazine are a combo of opinion and recap. The writer also rates the episode from 1 to 5 stars. @surfgirl what is TIIC? I tried Googling without success.
  4. Whatever happened to your attempt to get an appointment with a neurologist? I meant to follow up on that a couple of weeks ago. Did you abandon that weird doctor matching site?
  5. That was the plot of the aforementioned Law and Order episode, and look what happened there!
  6. Apropos of this, my friend's son was recruited by MIT to play football. I am not making this up. He is a freshman now.
  7. @shapeshifter you are absolutely right that streaming and on-demand showings have reduced the need for catch-up recaps. But those really long ones had another purpose--to show off the writer's snark capabilities. To me that just got tiresome when it was almost line by line recounting, and it was very annoyingly show-offy. Now pubs are featuring shorter recaps, for example New York Magazine/Vulture. There's an element of snark, but it can be consumed in a couple of minutes. I can't imagine how much work it took to do those really long recaps. I just looked at one of your posted entries randomly for Roswell, and I was immediately turned off, remembering the feeling of "when will this be over?" It was 15 densely spaced pages. However, I applaud your librarianship in archiving this stuff!
  8. The super-long scene-by-scene snarky recaps had a moment back when MBTV started, but they have faded away, maybe because they became tedious to read. Sometimes I wanted to just find out what happened and it would take longer to read the recap than to watch the show.
  9. Anyone know who played the long curly haired detective? She looked familiar but she’s not in the IMDB listing.
  10. You have shown remarkable patience! I no longer "want" to watch, but I'm limping along to the finish. All the characters are awful now, the writing is terrible, and the acting is stilted.
  11. Yes, but Laura Dern is in this show . . .. with her own father . Many nepo babies actually have deserved their success, I think.
  12. Weighing in late here, but Subaru is a great brand and also a little peculiar. They last forever. We are still driving a 2006 Outback LL Bean edition (higher end trim), so we have power front seats. But it's crazy to learn that the passenger front seat no longer has power. Also our car is too old for Bluetooth, and you can't swap out Subaru radios in the aftermarket because they link their radios to the air conditioning unit. So we have one of those plug ins that goes into the cigarette lighter and lets us play our phone over the radio system. I have to say I would not buy any car now without the power seat for the driver. I shift myself around all the time while driving to extend crampy legs or move them back.
  13. I too thought the whale was going to save Maxine.
  14. https://www.vulture.com/article/palm-royale-recap-episode-8-maxine-saves-the-whale.html I commend to you all this vulture recap, which sets forth the incomprehensible goings on. I had forgotten a few plot twists.
  15. I don't understand why Carol Burnett is trying to kill Maxine, TBH. There is too much back story missing. And why did Carol reject Rosenhips? They didn't show us. Are we supposed to think that Doug cares for Maxine? He doesn't really seem to like her.
  16. @Charlie Baker did you go to Eddie’s web site where he recounts an appearance by Larry Tierny at a repertory showing of the film? He mentioned it in the comments. Check it out if you dare. He gave trigger warnings.
  17. I liked the episode, but come on, they are down to the wire on the execution--don't you think even the most hardline governor would have granted a stay while they tracked down the crazy murderer who was suddenly running around the country? But no problem, time will stretch out so in less than one minute they can find the missing DNA and test it. Also, they should have at least paused the execution because they weren't carrying it out properly. It's a good way to make an anti death penalty argument on TV, but it was ridiculous. They never made the connection of the amputee fetish out loud to the group. Only for us viewers. At least Remy got to hook up with the hot lawyer.
  18. I called surrogate as soon as they found the delivery boy. Law and Order keeps having surrogate plots too. Too many foot chases. I thought the infiltration of the compound was handled poorly. Too few agents and poorly equipped.
  19. Fibrosis, the disease that strikes 7 people.
  20. I liked the musical number. No surprise Adele did not get into Juilliard with the same mediocre street dancing they showed a couple of weeks ago. I don’t think that he would have even gotten to the live audition phase.
  21. My current wives seek out potentials. Translation they’re my pimps.
  22. Yes she was a fool. Divorced with no property settlement Oh more browbeating sessions.
  23. This question has been the subject of much speculation.
