  1. From a teacher currently toasting the fact that I am now on Winter Break I can definitely see the kids being something that could make her grumpy, or staff meetings or parents, or any number of other things. As for not being as involved in the social things, teachers are scrutinized ridiculously on their social media presence, yes the DCC stuff should be considered acceptable but if it's on one of the other girls pages and there are even drinks in the background it can reflect badly on a teacher, the teacher in question doesn't even need to know the picture exists. Also it's quite possible that all of the things that go along with teaching could be keeping her from participating in all those go out and socialize events with the other girls. Actually that makes me wonder how she managed to do parent/teacher conferences in the fall. From all we see it seems that K&J really want DCC to come first before anything else, P/T conferences are often two evenings, could she really be allowed to miss two practices? or maybe just to arrive late after her conferences? Maybe bc she's contractually obligated to do them for her job? What about being there for evening events in her building? Not to mention all the grading and planning? Sorry I brought work home to do over Winter Break and it reminds me I've always wondered how the DCC who have been teachers have done it, much as I wonder about some other professionals.
  2. Up to season 7 on my most recent round of rewatching and I'd forgotten just how long that security leak story went on before we found out it was Toby. Though I think I will now be using Bartlet's line "Is it possible to be both shocked and not at all surprised at once?" and I have to say I love when CJ dragoons Will and he barely blinks at it being Toby. Also Josh refusing to hire Donna, while I get his "excuse" I just want to cry along with her every time
  3. I just can't get over how hunched over some of those girls look as they kick, if they have to hunch over to kick that high then they're not kicking well and it can't be good for their bodies. AND ugh more Tasha then I ever wanted to see in my life, though that shot of Maddie is adorable!
  4. I just don't have the patience for knitting. I know how, my grandma taught me that after she taught me to crochet but knitting seems to "grow" so much slower, course that could be bc I'm a faster crocheter than knitter, though when I learned continental style I got a bit faster. Knit really is better for wearables though unless you want a really thick sweater or use really thin yarn and lots of it. My grandma knits, both of her parents did, nothing like watching my great grandpa a former navy man/police officer sit and sew those tiny stitches. I have sewn together quilt tops on a machine but then passed them on to be quilted. It's one of my goals, I've been setting aside shirts kiddo wore when he was little to make a quilt for him someday. Until then I'm highly addicted to crochet especially round ripples, I could do them in my sleep now lol. My classroom floor is littered with rugs and pillows I've crocheted, well normally it is, right now they're locked up bc we've had a lice outbreak ugh. Come on winter break!
  5. We middle of the country folks do it too and we also call it a casserole, though here we've also taken to giving restaurant gift cards so the family can make their own meal choices. The video was cute but did seem a bit odd to me, and since the song was chosen purposely I was a bit bothered that you couldn't hear it as much as you could the poms, too bad they couldn't have recorded from closer to the speaker.
  6. I voted Danielle, Jessica. and Jinelle and am wondering with my multiple addresses just how many times I can get away with voting. I have four e-mails, what do you ladies think should I use them all?
  7. I've always been a DCC fan since I was a little girl wanting to be a cheerleader for Halloween. I'm just loathe to give the NFL any further attention than what I give to the DCC after what they did to StL.
  8. No real offense I just tend to overreact bc the Rams were the reason I fell in love with football. I lived in CoMo for 10 yrs. I knew the football this year wouldn't be great but ugh! I wouldn't be surprised with Kroenke's connections to Columbia that it was reported that way there. I only watch anything NFL anymore when the Cowboys play so I can try to catch a glimpse of the cheerleaders, hubby laughs at me craning my neck to the side as if I can then see around the sideline people to see the girls LOL
  9. Actually we here in StL had submitted a proposal for a new stadium that met the requirements the league set forth, we had made a good faith effort it was ignored by the league. No most people weren't attending games anymore but it wasn't because they could go watch the Blues (some of us aren't huge hockey fans and even those that are are just frustrated year in and year out that the Blues can't seem to make it past the first round or so of the playoffs). And you're unlikely to find many Chiefs fans on this side of the state, there are some, people who chose to root for them after the football Cardinals were taken from us. Most everyone I know was a Rams fan and was incredibly disappointed when the league screwed us over and now stick to NCAA football, though Mizzou made this year tough too. Sorry, sore subject.
  10. I was just listening to this episode of West Wing Weekly yesterday and just the audio of this moment had me in tears well that and Richard Schiff crying. I love this episode!
  11. I just feel so bad for Amy and Kyndall. I get why choices were made but this last night cut thing hurts. And knowing Kyndall didn't make it but her roomie Jessika makes it worse, think about how hard it is for her to be happy for roomie, and it's gotta be tough for J to be excited knowing her friend got so far and didn't make it.
  12. Trying to work my way through this season again, have it playing during my plan time each day as I work, just want to get to The Supremes, and Gaza, other than that this season makes me want to pull my hair out. I do like season six better.
  13. I haven't even read the reviews, just following the threads. I'm pretty middle of the road, when people have asked in the past I've always said if there were a fence between the sides I'm on the left leaning on it, some of my views are more conservative. That being said I'll still disappear into this show as much as I can over the next few weeks as I'm so over the election already and especially over the comments on all the political posts, might be why I've been skipping these reviews.
  14. We love it when someone posts their thoughts and feelings and gets us going so far, and I love reading what you've added already! oh don't go back to work ;) just keep watching LOL
  15. nope nope nope, I cry every single time, as soon as Toby finds Josh I'm a goner
  16. I really enjoyed the interviews, will most definitely listen to them again, but yeah I wish they'd gone back and done an episode of just them digging into the two ITSOTG epis. It just felt like they'd glazed right over the actual episodes for the most part.
  17. Yes, yes, yes and now :( for Leo and Fitz. Maybe that's why I don't like this general, Fitz was so much better, or how bout Dr Nancy NcNally? They would be on this but so much better.
  18. Finally watching this from my DVR, can't believe I forgot that I'd recorded it, was reminded when I listened to The West Wing Weekly podcast today. I haven't read anyone else's responses yet, will do that tomorrow. First thoughts as the pilot ends, I like this show so far. I like Kirkman and his wife, enjoyed Kal Penn's character, Mike the SS agent, is it Aaron he was the Deputy Chief of Staff? so many character so fast I might need to spend time on imdb to get it strait. The general that I'm assuming is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs (Did they ever specify that?) yeah him I don't like, at all, I understand his concern about Kirkman, I get his concern about the country but something about him rubs me the wrong way. Now I feel like I need to do some research into what would actually be done to replace Congress.
  19. It's been a while since I saw the episode but I swear on the episode of the West Wing where they actually showed the Cabinet Member that was chosen as DS, and the staff joked about the choice, with someone, Donna I think, actually asking why he was chosen and expressing concern that he could end up president
  20. To me that looks much cooler than the jump split and make me much less nervous to watch. I'm always afraid some girl is going to get really hurt doing those jump splits. And yeah when did that change? @ShellyB could you tell us when the change to the jump splits occurred, did you do the waterfall kick or jump splits or both when you were a DCC?
  21. Still watching on my DVR but didn't Kyndall quit her job last year during TCC? And now she's out of a job again this year? I got the impression that this year it wasn't her choice, that she was let go, not that she quit.
  22. SlackerInc I can see that, but I guess for me at the beginning he's a loveable old grouch, and he seems to go back to that in 6 & 7, it's just 5 that I don't like him, then again like many I don't like much of season 5 in general
  23. Um OMG, so I assigned a journal to my students, 20 I Am statements. I made a list about me as a sample, one of them was I am a DCC:MTT fan. So one of my kiddos tells me Amy T is a cousin, I guess it shouldn't be a huge shock since I'm in Missouri, but so cool.
