I'm pretty much in agreement with everything you said. I really liked the book and felt that they changed a little too much for the movie. I felt like they kind of changed the tone of the book in the movie, making it more of a fun, fast, action movie. I thought the tone of the book was a little bit darker (but still fun) and that the IOI corporation and Sorrento came across a little more menacing in the book. In the movie I found Sorrento to be a little too cartoon-ish, and I thought the post-it note with his password was pretty silly. I also had to kind of roll my eyes at the way the employees at IOI were cheering at the end - they just seemed a little too enthusiastic and sunshine-y in their powder blue uniforms. I was also kind of disappointed that they changed the challenges so much. I mean, I get it, the way the challenges were done in the book wouldn't have translated well to the big screen, but they seemed to go through them way too quickly in the movie. Also, I have nothing against Tye Sheridan, but he really didn't do that much for me as Wade in the movie. That said, I thought the movie taken on its own (ignoring the book) was a fun entertaining movie, and I enjoyed it for what it was.

I really enjoyed it a lot. The stop-motion animation looked great and I loved the voice work and the personalities and interactions of the main dogs. I'm surprised there aren't any comments on it here yet, but then again I guess it's still in limited release right now. Be sure to post here again after you've seen it!

That "drinking" line was great! I really admire Freddie Highmore's ability to toss out lines like that in a completely unforced way with a totally straight face. One of my pet peeves with less talented actors is when they're supposed to say a funny line in a straight manner, but the actor gives away that they're in on the joke - takes me right out of the scene. Freddie Highmore is so great at staying in character! Also, I want to chime in with everyone else who recommends watching "Bates Motel" - Highmore and Vera Farmiga are so very excellent in that show and the rest of the supporting cast are great too. The show really did a great job of showing Norman Bates' evolution and making both him and his mother disturbing, frightening, yet very sympathetic characters. The final season was heartbreaking.

Someone needs to capture that and make of GIF of it, lol! :)

I totally agree. If Kalu really does leave, I'll miss the little interactions between him and Shaun! Kalu has really grown on me since the beginning of the series. I laughed out loud when he poked his head in Glassman's office, then I laughed even harder when he came up behind Kalu! I couldn't help but have thoughts of Norman Bates whipping out a knife and stabbing him to death, lol! This was certainly a roller coaster episode with its hilarious moments and tragic or near-tragic moments and the going back and forth with the Lucy and fake-Lucy patients.

And he gave Shaun a partially used bottle of milk. "Best Bro" indeed. Ugh.

Maybe the weatherman life is as draining as the U.S. presidency? And I just realized why I shouldn't like Joe (most of it political views), but he doesn't rub me the wrong way I'm not familiar with his political views... He does look older than 28 though! I wondered if maybe the Ninja life is starting to wear on him? In his post-run interview with Christine he mentioned something about finding it harder to get motivated at times or something like that. And I think he made one other comment that gave me the impression that maybe he's not as driven about the Ninja stuff anymore. I've always enjoyed watching him run the courses because he looks like such a regular guy (an average Joe, hehe), but he's deceptively fast and usually makes the obstacles look kind of easy.

Thank you izabella! That's the piece I was missing - I didn't realize she had implants all over the place! I hope Shaun's friendship with Kenny doesn't blow up in his face. I thought the way Shaun's face lit up when he said, "That sounds like fun" when he decided to sit down and play Mortal Kombat with Kenny was so adorable! I hope he got something to eat other than just plain white rice for dinner though, lol!

A couple more questions to fill in the gap in my DVR recording - what was it that originally brought the female patient and her husband to the hospital? I gather she had some sort of infection that necessitated removing her breast (?) implants, but was there some other reason that originally brought her in? And why was she so reluctant to have the surgery? Was she afraid it would make her "ugly" to no longer have enhanced breasts? Or were replacement implants down the road not an option?

Ahhh, thank you NotCreative Enough for clearing that up for me! I like to believe that Park actually does care about Shaun. There were a couple of quick glances that he gave Shaun that make me feel that way. One was right after he forwarded the info on Kenny to Shaun's cell phone and one was at the beginning of the episode where Shaun pointed out that if the male patient had previously had spinal trauma it could have accounted for someone as young as him being in his current condition. Park kind of looked at Shaun like he admired his ability to quickly come up with these kinds of insights. I really like the addition of Will Yun Lee to the cast so far. I wondered about that too! I know I wouldn't be able to just write a check for ~$2500 on the spot without doing some shuffling between my checking and (also meager) savings account. And who still carries around checkbooks? lol!

Could someone do me a favor and fill in a couple of gaps for me? My DVR recording that I was watching kept jumping ahead by several minutes during the episode so I missed a good chunk of it! The biggest jump was from the scene where Dr. Melendez was telling Claire, Shaun, and Park about the patient with the spinal issue to the scene where Dr. Andrews was talking to the female patient about needing to remove her implants. So I missed most of the initial introductions of both couples. Also, what was the thing about Reznick giving Jared credit for spotting the problem in the female patient? Then I was confused later when they were prepping for surgery and she gave Jared credit for changing the patient's mind, then Jared said, "You make the call." I didn't get what that was about. Thanks in advance! I agree with everyone who likes the little conversations between Shaun and Claire. I felt so bad for Claire, her eyes brimming with tears, after she left her meeting with her mother. I also hope that Kenny isn't just using Shaun and taking advantage of him. He does seem to have some genuine affection for Shaun. But he needs to stop breaking into Shaun's place and spending random money that he finds in Shaun's drawers! Boundaries, man!

It looks like many of us are remembering Will Yun Lee from several different roles, lol! I recognized him as the "cowboy" businessman from the final season of True Blood!

Totally agree. I can't believe that fugly pukey olive green dress was one of the top looks! The darts at the breast area looked crazy bad and with those awful shoulder pads they made the model look totally lopsided. I hated the yellow dress with the stupid inner sleeve cutouts too. I didn't like Helen and Ken's color/pattern scheme - they looked like bad retro flight attendant outfits. I thought Ken's was the worst of the two, but at least he realized the problems with it and I'm glad he wasn't eliminated. Even though he's had his over-the-top bitch moments in the past, he seemed a lot more calm the last time around and he can be funny. I'm having trouble recognizing a few of the "all-stars" this season too. I really don't remember Merline, Kimberly, and Mellissa. And I'm happy that Michael Costello is doing well too.

I usually don't have much to criticize about the show since I usually love (or mostly love) every episode, but this one just didn't work for me. I thought most of the "special talents" (including the audience ones) were kind of duds and they just went on too long - I found myself losing patience waiting for Zac Efron to form the perfect consistency spit bubble and waiting for the guy in the audience to quit cracking up so he could fold his tongue or whatever he was trying to do. The only ones I enjoyed were Hugh Jackman juggling and the video clip of Oldman doing Churchill doing James Brown - that was very cute! I think Hugh Jackman is very charming, but since I have zero interest in the movie "The Greatest Showman" I found myself mostly bored. All in all, it just seemed like a lackluster couch to end the year!

I think I've seen all of the celebrity editions that have aired. Does anyone know if there are plans to do any more? I love Dave Foley (long time KITH fan) - I wish he could be a regular! Has Brooke Shields always been so twitchy? I found her distracting to watch!

I think the main reason that this movie is getting such low audience scores is that the trailer is a little misleading, in my opinion. If you think the movie is going to show a lot of amusing juxtapositions between the small and normal sized worlds, then you're going to be disappointed after about the first hour of the movie, because once the movie moves into the small world it pretty much stays there and very little is shown regarding the contrast with the normal sized world, so as a result everything just looks kind of normal from that point on. The movie has several funny scenes, but overall it has a more serious tone than I was expecting. If you're in the mood to see subject matter like poverty and health-care issues and global warming, then this might be the right thought-provoking movie for you. But if you just want light entertainment, then it will probably be a disappointment. I was kind of disappointed that it didn't show more of the interaction between the small and normal sized worlds - like how food, medicine, housing, equipment (cars, machines, etc.) and other supplies were created and provided to the small world. Did the small communities manufacture most of that stuff themselves? I could see them growing some of their own food perhaps, but a lot of other things seem like they would be a very large undertaking (no pun intended) for the small communities to be able to do on their own. Maybe more of this was explained and I just missed it. As for the global warming stuff, it seemed like the movie should have shown how the large world was dealing with the issue, not just the small world since one of the main motivations for downsizing was supposed to be to save the planet. It's just mentioned very quickly in passing that not enough of the large population has downsized to save the planet. And personally, I found the original Norwegian community in the latter part of the movie a little bit creepy and depressing. If you're a Jason Sudekis fan, then don't even bother - I think he was in the movie for all of about 5 minutes. I agree that Matt Damon isn't at his most charismatic in this movie, but I think that was understandable given the emotions his character was going through adjusting to the small world. I had rather modest expectations going in given the few reviews I had read, so while it definitely wasn't one of my favorite movies of 2017, I didn't think it was that bad either. It did feel a bit too long though - I think 20 minutes or more could have easily been cut out of it.

Almost everyone's been so focused on the twins, but I'd like to mention a few things that I liked about the reunion show. :) Aside from the twins controversy and what seemed like a little bit of residual bitterness on Kenya's part, I thought this was a good reunion show. Everyone (except Claire) seemed to be in a good mood and had some nice things to say, and I enjoyed the montages. Highlights for me - Kentaro's sincere humbleness and all-around good nature and how he said that he learned so much from everyone. Kentaro's and Brandon's bro-mance montage and how they laughed in unison during the clip where Samantha said she was happy that they were brothers. Aaron's montage - yes, I know some of his designs were a little out there and rather sloppily executed, but I enjoyed seeing him this season. I liked how Brandon said it was so refreshing to meet someone who's so comfortable with himself, and I liked the "aww, shucks" look on Aaron's face when Brandon made those comments. Aaron seems like a really sweet free soul and I hope something good comes out of his appearance on PR. Kentaro's funny montage - that sequence where he was trying to invite Kenya to go to the sauna and ends up wishing her a Merry Christmas is so hilarious! :) The shout-outs to the underrated designers. I liked that Shawn said she'd like to see more from Cha-Cha and his color explosions. I always feel bad for the first designer eliminated - I wish PR would just have a no-elimination policy for the 1st challenge so that each designer can have a chance to get their bearings and we and the judges can see at least two looks before someone is eliminated. I hope Cha-Cha figures out how to sell his designs online, lol! I thought it was nice of Shawn to apologize to Samantha for any hurt she caused her during her talking head comments. It seemed like a sincere apology on Shawn's part, although IMHO I don't think she really needed to apologize since almost everyone made snarky comments about other people's designs during those talking head segments! Speaking of Shawn, despite the twins controversies, I think she came across rather well during the reunion show. She seemed to be in a good mood, she engaged in the discussions with good humor, and she even kept her cool when Kenya was kind of attacking her after the talking heads montage. The impressions of the twins style of speaking - the impressions were spot on, and even the twins had a laugh at themselves while watching the clips. And on a shallower note, I agree with the person up-thread who said that Michael looks damn good with blonde hair! :'} All-in-all, I thought this was an enjoyable reunion show, and I hope to see some of the designers again in the future.

Also wanted to add something I forgot to post earlier - I thought it was very gentlemanly of Jason Momoa to swap seats on the couch with Sarah Millican so that she could sit in the middle. He was a very pleasant surprise - I had only known him as Khal Drogo on "Game of Thrones" before seeing him as Aquaman in "The Justice League." Speaking of "Game of Thrones" - any fans out there know Dothraki who can interpret what Jason said to Sarah and Hugh? :)

Thanks for the link to the interview! Kentaro seems like such a sweet and positive person. I liked his answer to this question (regarding his friendship with Brandon): "Are you guys still close? Yes, we are friends. I talk to him. … I wanted to have designer friends at the show; it’s good to have someone I can trust." So refreshing from the usual, "I'm not here to make friends" comment you often hear from reality show contestants. I hope they stay friends! Just looked at the JC Penny versions of his looks. Sadly, they seemed to have lost something in translation, especially the red top - it didn't even look close to being the right shade of red. And where did that black pleather cami even come from? I'm surprised they didn't create a version of one of his white & black looks - there were a couple that I wish I could wear!

Wow, so much activity in this thread! I'm so happy Kentaro won - he's been such an absolute pleasure to watch this season. I would say that I loved maybe 1 to 3 looks from each designer's collection, but overall I liked Kentaro's the best. He really pulled it out for the runway show. Some of his pieces were so beautiful, like wearable art. The only thing that would have made it better is if his muse Meisha had gotten to walk for him! (I agree with everyone else who thinks that she rocks every single thing she wears!) I wonder if Meisha got to meet Kentaro's family? I bet that would have been adorable! Where was Tim Gunn at the end? Doesn't he usually congratulate the winner on the runway at the end of the show? (Sorry if this has already been answered above - I haven't had time to go through all the pages of posts.)

LOL. Me too! Shaun walking out of the room after saying such a blunt (but accurate) comment, and the look on the parents' faces after he walked out of the room, just cracked me up. And the look on Melendez's face too, lol! I thought it was perfect how his brow lifted as he realized what was coming out of Shaun's mouth, then his look of barely contained amusement after Shaun walked out the door.

I think Noah jumped to the top of my list after tonight's performance. Loved those low notes! Love his old soul vibe. I'm with Miley - he's cute as hell and sweet and dope and all that, heh! I thought it was cute how Kelly was boppin' up and down listening to him sing and how moved she was by him. Moriah is another one I'm rooting for since I like seeing rock represented on the show and I was so impressed by her Blinds performance. Tonight's performance was good, although I thought her high notes bordered a little on the shrill side, but I'm glad she moved forward. I was a little surprised that Miley stole Adam Pearce. I mean I think he's a good rock singer (and I'm glad Miley saved a rock singer), but to me he mostly seems like a really good cover band singer and I'm not sure I see enough to make him stand out to me. I'd be happy if he proves me wrong though.

S09.E13: Las Vegas Finals - Night 1
frogzapper replied to Lantern7's topic in American Ninja Warrior
I can't believe they WWWA'ed Thomas Stillings again! He's one of my favorites to watch run the courses :( And I continue to be impressed by Joe Moravsky's deceptively fast runs! I'm glad Lance Pekus change out of his usual jeans - they always looked like they'd be so uncomfortable to run in to me. Disappointed Jesse Labreck didn't complete the course but she sure put in a valiant effort at the end. Really impressed that Allyssa Beird finished the course - she's getting better all the time. I'm really looking forward to seeing Jesse Graff next week! And I agree that it's fun to see Maggie Thorne so enthusiastically cheering on her fellow Ninjas :) Other than some surprising WWWA choices, I'm really enjoying this season and seeing more strong women going farther than ever!
