  1. Oh wonderful! I have wanted to check out The Defenders. So, that is very convenient. In the meantime, I have written to a few people and I've posted some info to a few boards where I belong to tell people about this show because I think it is just wonderful. There are some small problems with it. But they are outweighed by all the wonderful attributes. IMHO, the main positive attribute about this show is that it's a wonderful story and all the most important characteristics (such as the acting and direction) are quite wonderful. But it also has so many wonderful small components (like the hauntingly beautiful music), that it was a real joy to watch. It is so seldom that I find a show that seems to be banging on all cylinders. I am so very happy to have discovered this wonderful show. Thank you all very much! I must say that I have been so disappointed on all the Marvel movies and other properties. This show is the only Marvel property that has grabbed me in this way. I wonder what the reason might be. Do you think it is entirely due to the showrunner? Or is there some other person contributing to this show that has made such a huge difference? I'd love to find out so that I could check out any other work done by that mystery person. (Well, a mystery to me. But that really doesn't make them a mystery. I am very lacking when it comes to answering questions like this. Would anyone here have an opinion on who it might be who has made such a wonderful difference to this show?)
  2. Well, I finished watching all 13 episodes and I think this is one of the best new TV shows I've ever seen. Even though I knew it was a TV show, I was kept on the edge of my seat for almost all 13 episodes. That is something that has almost never happened to me before. There were a few minor things that I didn't like. But the central idea that someone could possess the power of mind control and whatever they tell people to do, those people feel compelled to carry out was so extremely new and fresh and powerful. I loved it. I have more to say. But since the show is no longer in production, I will wait to see if anyone else wishes to discuss this show any more. Does anyone know if it will go back into production for a second season?
  3. There is much truth in what you say. Jamie is very known for many things. But, being clever, ain't one of them. He is not generally regarded as a big intellect. In fact, he is kind of a big dummy. Don't you think? I feel sorry for Jamie. His mental abilities are truly quite limited. After thinking this over a bit, I gotta say that IMO, you could be an excellent king slayer if you wanted to be. After all, it doesn't take very much to be a king slayer. Brains are not really the primary attribute. But, tell me, what do you think? Do you believe that you are cut out to be a well regarded king slayer?
  4. I looked and I looked but I could not find the place in this forum where Blue Velvet said that John surely must have figured out that Cersei was the one who caused the big building (whatever it is called) to blow up. But I'm not so sure about this. Causing that building (could it be called the Sept of Baylor?) to explode could easily have been a very complex operation and I strongly doubt that anyone could be certain as to who was to blame for that. Granted that it may not be very likely, but it could always have been an accident of some kind. Couldn't it? OMG! Oh no! Oh no! I just now saw that post. It's at the top of this page. I feel so dumb! How dumb does someone have to be in order to miss a post that is at the top of the very same page? Please forgive me. I didn't drink my carrot juice this morning.
  5. I have to ask ... if they want to abduct Kilgrave, why don't they just wear earplugs so they can't hear him? Wouldn't that be good enough to prevent him from commanding them until they put him into that safe room?
  6. Oh my! I'm so happy to have discovered this thread. I just today sent a message to two of the moderators suggesting that they start a thread that looks very much like this. I began my message by asking them to point me to any existing thread or forum that implements the suggestion. Perhaps I can repost my suggestion here and so you can all see what I'm after. Here it is: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello. I would like to make a suggestion to you. There may already be a forum to handle this kind of suggestion and if so, I would appreciate if you could let me know where it is currently handled. I am a fairly new member to Previously.TV and was very pleased when I saw the huge list of TV programs on your home page. I was pleased because I thought this forum would surely be a big help to me in finding TV programs that I had not yet seen but would enjoy. I would like to suggest a thread or a forum where people can post recommendations of shows they think other people would enjoy. I would suggest a format where people could list a few of their favorite TV shows first and then list the shows they would like to recommend to others. The purpose of listing their favorite shows is to give readers an idea of the kinds of show this person enjoys and thereby give the reader an idea as to the kinds of shows they might recommend. For example, I would list the following "current shows" (currently in production) that I consider my favorites: Game of Thrones, The Americans, Fargo, Better Call Saul. Then, I would list some shows that are fairly new to me but that I would like to recommend to others. In my case, these would include: Jessica Jones, OJ - Made in America and Schitts Creek. I am making this suggestion because I would really love to be able to review a few posts from people who feel like they have recently discovered a new TV show that I might enjoy. It would be a big help for me to be able to check out these new shows if these people listed their current favorites because that would help me decide if I would be likely to enjoy the shows they recommend. Maybe these posts could also include a brief text summary of the new shows I'm recommending. For example, I might include the following text: OJ - Made in America - This is a five part mini-series about OJ. Each part runs for approx 1 hour 30 minutes. The first episode was very interesting to me because it contained a summary of his life leading up to his professional football career. I had never seen that part of OJ's life before. The remainder of this mini-series contains a description of his life after football. Specifically, it includes all his marital and legal troubles. I found this show to be very well done. Jessica Jones - I just recently discovered this show. It has broadcast one season (13 episodes) and each episode runs for about 45 minutes (originally ran for one hour with commercials). I was really knocked out by this show. Lately, I had been feeling very depressed because it has seemed to me like there is just nothing good to watch on TV at this time. This show was really exciting. It's based on some Marvel comic book. I had never seen that comic book. The idea is that the title character (played by Krysten Ritter) is a former super hero who is now working as a private investigator. For those of you who watched Breaking Bad, Krysten Ritter played the character Jane on that show. I loved her in that role and I like her very much in this role as well. Jessica Jones is a very dark and very adult show. It shows some very heavy sexual encounters between adults. I don't want to spoil any more of the plot. I just want to say that based on my favorite TV shows listed above, I hope you will give this show a try. I think you will like it. Schitts Creek is an offbeat Canadian comedy produced by the CBC. It stars Eugene Levy and his son and daughter. You may remember Eugene Levy from SCTV or a large number of comedy movies such as: Splash, Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman and A Mighty Wind. This show is an acquired taste. It is fairly low budget (it only has a single camera), but it has become a favorite of mine because the humor is kind of sweet. I got a few real big LOLs from watching this show and that hasn't happened in a very long time. They have produced two seasons so far. Each season consists of 13 episodes and each episode runs for about 45 minutes (originally ran for one hour with commercials). I recommend you give this show a try. You will be able to tell fairly quickly whether or not it appeals to your sense of humor.
  7. I just watched Episode 4 of Jessica Jones and I'm feeling confused as well as somewhat dim-witted. I can't understand the plot line about the woman who hired Jessica to get pictures of her husband. I suppose I really need to re-watch the episode again. But, I'm curious if anyone else had trouble understanding that after a single viewing. Do you think I should give it another viewing? Or should I just swallow my pride and ask for help here. It seemed like the entire episode was difficult to understand. But very exciting. I actually forgot I was watching actors. That has not happened in a very long time. I rarely get lost in TV shows and forget I'm watching a staged play of sorts. However, I really and truly enjoy this show. It's very exciting and it's quickly becoming one of my most favorite shows.
  8. I watched the first ten epis of Humans and then it seemed to lag before it produced the remaining episodes. But thank you for the reminder. I will have to watch the remaining episodes. I remember developing some feelings for the lovely female robot. I wonder if that may be a sign of things to come in our future?? (joking) Thanks for the tip on POI. I remember watching the first few episodes but then lost interest. I will have to go back and see if I can fan the flames on that show.
  9. Oh my Goodness. Thank you ever so much LilWharveyGal. Just what I needed. You have made me so very happy!
  10. I've been feeling depressed recently. With the end of The Americans and Game of Thrones seasons, I've been getting the feeling there is very little quality TV on the air now. It seems like I'll have to wait 8 or 9 months before I can see any more quality TV. Please post the names of some other shows you enjoy. I agree that this show is most excellent and I'd love to see any other TV shows you've enjoyed because I'm feeling a serious need to find some shows I've not seen before. Even if the shows are over and no longer being produced, I'd still love to know the names of other shows you would recommend to people. AAMOF, does anyone know of any existing forums in which people recommend good TV shows? I'm looking for quality shows - even if they are no longer being produced. I just want to find some good quality shows. To give you some idea of my taste in TV shows, my favorite shows are: The Americans, Game of Thrones, Fargo and Better Call Saul.
  11. Here are some bits of trivia that people may find interesting. Did you know that the actor who plays the wife of the lawyer (Jeri Hogarth) is Robin Weigert. If that name sounds familiar, it's because she played Calamity Jane on Deadwood. It's an amazing transformation from Calamity Jane. Several other actors who are working on Jessica Jones have also worked on some other very well known TV shows. I'll try to get back to this post and update it soon with more bits of trivia.
  12. Oh! I just got a feeling of joy from reading your post. I'm currently up to Episode 03 and I saw something else that makes her realistic. She uses an Acer notebook PC and not an Apple. Seems to me that something like 90% of all actors seem to be using Apple notebooks. Of course, IRL, 90% of people who use notebooks do not use Apples. I always groan when I see an actor using a notebook and it almost always seems to have an Apple logo. What hogwash! Showrunners seem to do that because they must think it makes their characters look more cool. Well .... Bah! .... Phooey ... Spit! That is just so unrealistic. I hate it!
  13. It's pretty hard to find a character who is more despicable than Cersei. But the HS and all his little sparrows (including this lady - sorry I can't remember her name) are easily more hateful than Cersei. I find the HS to be very intriguing. On the surface, he seems like such a fine fellow. The British have an expression for this kind of person. I think it's something like, "hale fellow well met" or something like that. Everytime I see him, that is the expression that pops into my mind. If you didn't know he was the HS and you didn't know how he treated people, I think most people would think he was a real splendid fellow. That is just so strange. Because once you get to know what he does, I think most people agree that he is an incredible monster I find this intriguing because some of the biggest villains in history seem to be very fine people on the outside. But on the inside, they are complete monsters. It takes an amazing level of skill to be a monster but make people think you are a fine person.
  14. I'm enjoying this show more and more now. I'm becoming convinced it is full of excellence in the writing and also the cinemetography and music. It seems to be just full of excellent techniques that seem to become evident on repeated viewings. Has anyone else found the neighbor twins (fraternal) to be a real scream? I mean hilarious. I'd really like to know if this show has been renewed for a second season. Does anyone know?
  15. I respect your right to your opinion and I can see how and why you would hold this opinion. My opinion is very different, however. I was intrigued and was very happy to have found this show. I thought it was extremely well done. I strongly liked this show and am eager to watch further episodes. I have one specific reply to your post and that is when you call the main character "stupid". I have to disagree. I can point to the incident when she served the summons. She came up with this fictitious "laser eyes" power and turned the club owner's insult ("moron") around. I would point to this as evidence that she is actually quite clever. I just found this show today and so far, have only watched the first episode. I like the main character and I like the actress who portrays her. For anyone who does not know, the actress (Krysten Ritter) played the character "Jane" in Breaking Bad and I thought she was great in that show. I also think she's pretty great in this show. I have a lot more to say about this show. But I think I best watch the remaining episodes first.
  16. I would also like to see a last minute turn around - but not because I wanna see Messiah Man stay. I wanna see Bridgette go. Has anyone else noticed that she is a raging Manic Depressive? Just look at the first or second episode where they are choosing teams for the rocket ship competition. When she was chosen to be on one of the teams, she acted as if she had just won a life saving operation for her mother to cure her breast cancer. She was so very happy that I thought she was a gonna jump right out of her skin. The crazy thing about that was that everyone had to get chosen to be on a team. She didn't really win anything more so than anyone else did. I'm sorry to say this because she appears to be such a nice and sweet young lady. But she is either a raging Manic/Depressive or ... just plain NUTZ! Maybe I should be more politically keerect and call her Bi-Polar? I don't know the correct term. But I am seriously worried about her. IMHO, she is truly in some kind of danger zone. She don't appear to be crazy. But how can you explain her behavior in any other way? She is a very sweet girl. But .... completely Kee-Razy! She just gets over-the-top happy, happy, happy at the slightest little thing. She is just out of this world happy! I am waiting for the other shoe to drop and then we will see her depression side. I'm quite certain the casting people must have missed her serious psychiatric condition. Of course, I could always be wrong - and if I am, I will apologize. Yes I will. But I'm sorry to say that IMO, there is just something very wrong with this girl.
  17. I will take a guess. My guess would be that like most adults (awa older adults in KL), Pycelle was a self-absorbed POS who cared very little for anyone other than himself. As a result, most of the children would not care beans about him. Witness his cheating that poor girl out of some moolah. Can you imagine what it would be like to blow that old smelly CSer and then get stiffed? Not good. I have found that many times when an opportunity arises to take out my frustrations and anger on a sonomabich, it is always a pleasure to do so - regardless of who they are or just how guilty they may be. I find that if I just close my eyes and think a pleasant thought (such as ... "Ahhh .... Fuck 'em!), things tend to work out just swell! As I said earlier .... it's just a guess. However .... Pycelle would be very close to the top of my list of old fuckers with whom I could take out some revenge. How's about you? How close would he be to the top of your revenge list?
  18. I'm afraid that is something that you will have to wonder about forever. In all likelihood, the truth will never be revealed. But ... I think you might be able to take some satisfaction in the knowledge that he was such a nasty and miserable character that everyone really deserved to take a knife and plunge it into his heart. I know that I sure would have liked the opportunity to have done that. How about you?
  19. After all is said and done about this season, I am just heartbroken at the loss of Natalie Dormer. She was just the most beautiful lady and I liked nothing better about this show than watching her. I was expecting a wonderful plot to unfold whereby she had figured out some way to defeat the HS and find salvation for her brother and put her family into an elevated position. But we never saw what her plan was (assuming she had a plan) and I know the showrunners have the right to kill off however many characters they want. I just want to say that I am absolutely heartbroken to lose Natalie from this show. IMHO, she was just the very best - the most beautiful, possibly the most talented and I just wish they would have found a way to have kept her in the show.
  20. I understand because the other showrunner pronounced Tommen as "Tomlin". WTH? How is that possible?
  21. As I recall, he had openly disrespected Cersei in a public meeting of the Small Council. That was reason enough. I wanted to see him gone too. But I would have given him a far more lengthy and painful death.
  22. When Sansa told John that a white raven had arrived from the Citadel, I couldn't make out what she said after that. But John replied, "Well, Father always promised." What was it that Father had always promised? Can anyone tell me just what it was that Sansa said about the white raven? I imagine it must have been that Sam made it to the Citadel. But that has nothing to do with anything that Father had ever promised. I'm confused. Please help?
  23. Someone said that Sam got a happy ending. But don't you all remember his telling Gilly, "Where you go, I will go. Where I go, you will go?" I guess that doesn't include the Citadel's Library.
  24. FWIW, the trailer to this episode has the show runners talking about the episode and one of them calls Tommen "Tomlin". Isn't that strange? How would he not know the name of one of his characters who is also the King?
