I was an avid runner until I blew my left knee. I ran when I was happy, sad, mad, worried, you name it. Running just made me feel good. It was also time to be alone with my thoughts, regardless of my emotional state. Other than a child following on a bike, because one can't leave kids to their own devices, it would have annoyed me to no end to have a spouse or otherwise full grown ass adult following me on a bike. Yes, I'm selfish that way.

I thought Brenda or Toby said the condo belonged to his parents, that is why I assumed he is still alive. When a parent is accused of sexual abuse they are not permitted to be around any children, including their own. Thus a female relative could be a niece not necessarily his daughters. Not that it makes it any less disgusting. One of the most amazing things I've ever done professionally is forensic interviewing. In cases like this all children under eighteen are interviewed by a forensic interviewer (in CA a CPS social worker), the adults are interviewed by LE. The size of this family is going to make the process take longer than usual. I do wonder what happens now since Brenda in her THs was all about patriarchy, teaching ballroom dancing because it's about men leading and women following, God created man and women for different roles. They won't involve the child in filming because they can't. Children in guardianships and in foster care are protected. I conducted my fair share of home studies for guardianships. Also, when we adopted our daughter internationally we were told in no uncertain terms that the pictures they provided could not be used on social media, or no adoption. Now once/if they adopt they make all decisions as any bio parent. Ugh I have only practiced in CA (the State not the so called dangerous place) and even for kinship placement a child age two and older cannot share a room with an adult. How is that going to work out with the boys' dorm? Further, you can only have a specific number of children in one room.

FWIW the identifying of a female family member made me feel for the victim. This ugly scenario already played out with the Duggars and the girls bore the brunt of the humiliation. No victim should ever have to feel such pain.

SuzyLee, I wish with all my heart that Anna is as torn and vigilant as you describe, and I'm sure you would be. Sadly, I had too many mothers in my caseload over the years that were unable or unwilling to accept the fact that their spouse was molesting their child(ren). The most common reaction was not to believe the child, and I often heard, "he is a good provider, we have a roof over our heads, and food on the table." You'd be surprised that even with CPS at their door (along with law enforcement), how many mothers just do not get it.

Mollie, thank you for the compliment, but we are just parents, regular, average parents, lucky to be entrusted to raise an amazing child. A child that was malnourished and devoid of stimuli when we met. I became a SAHM to provide our child with consistency, a sense of security, and every possible opportunity to advance developmentally. Every child needs and deserves devotion and every opportunity to foster developmental and intellectual growth. I have been lurking since TWoP days but finally delurked because the thought of these two morons adopting simply horrifies me. My daughter is a super hero loving, Lego super builder, princess hater, and would never get anywhere near a pink outfit. Ben and Jessa will only stunt a child's growth. During our trip down our memory lane Ben and Jessa came to mind. All families are taken to a Buddhist temple to participate in a blessing. It was such a beautiful and meaningful ceremony. We are not Buddhists but appreciated every aspect of the blessing, because it is a part of our daughter's heritage. We also enjoyed every meal we had and did not thumb our noses at any food offered. I had a great laugh trying to picture Benessa in those situations. Sorry to be so long winded, I have had ten years of pent up frustration regarding this family.

As the proud parent of a Chinese child I would like to add the parents must have medical insurance. This is not only required from China and US adoption agency, it is a Homeland Security requirement. Although we had provided the documentation with our dossier, we had to again provide employment verification letters and proof of medical insurance before our travel visas were issued. And while I'm sure this family would gladly lie (seems to be the only consistent trait) there's that pesky requirement of promising to provide the child a good education. To the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) that means a college degree. Again, merely a matter of honoring a promise, but one my husband and I take seriously.
