I read an article where Chrissy said she wanted to lose weight and although it is in the story line she didn't have to sign anything to promise. It reminds me of the Jenny Craig or Nutrasystem actress's that got "in trouble" for gaining weight while saying how their product worked. It must be a little stressful. She said she doesn't wear anything as the actor Toby does so she can't just 'lose the prosthetic" and lose weight. She mentioned once that the Biggest Loser would be fun, just exercise all the time, but looking at the results years later, didn't work for many. We all like quick, but it doesn't work for long. I wonder if they ever tested Kate for a metabolic disorder? I had cousins who were always overweight but one didn't eat much more than her siblings, she had something wrong with her, but medicine only helped a little. She would work so hard and see so little results, she cried way too many tears. I hope they move away from everything being just weight though, Kate isn't just her size and has opinions and thoughts and dreams and I hope she becomes more than "her weight issue". Yes, that filter gets worse as they get older, but my Mom never held back about weight. Even when I went from a size 8 to 10 she said something but it was always " mrs. so and so said she noticed you put on a few pounds" Never wanted it to be her. I remember in my 40's before I lost weight and started to run for fitness, I had put on 40 pounds. I was going to a birthday party for me at a Chinese restaurant with people I hadn't seen in a while and siblings. I'll never forget walking in and my mom said, "What are you now Deb, a 14?" Happy birthday : ) You just have to consider the source, it's their issue and move on. Still stings, but you move on.

I binge-watched the first 7 shows so I might have missed something, but was Randall's adoption glossed over? No mention of how they did it, Rebecca was so worried about losing him because of the "fire house adoption" they had. He must of needed legal papers to go to school etc. They mentioned they changed his name, but I don't remember any flashbacks to that time. And although I know the show wouldn't be the show unless a triplet died, they didn't do C-Sections for multiple births back then? Twins as I had, aren't as difficult, but delivering more, especially if 2 shared a sac, can be very iffy. It was a flash back to see them smoking back then, a vague memory of when I first started working at a hospital but they quickly changed it to no smoking anywhere. I really like the show, but Randall's family and storyline with William was what really had me hooked. I loved every moment with him and was glad he'd be in some flashbacks next season.

that line got me...that went from the cruelty and backstabbing of his kind of work to a new level..did he forget or just not care? That's how it is sometimes in his field though, my niece left a big job at a top DC company because of the long hours, no life and "it's never enough" attitude of most. A pay cut and new job made her feel alive for the first time in years and no more headaches or anxiety issues. I hope Randall finds a good niche for him and his family. Being frugal, I'm sure he's invested well.

I am also binge-watching, and almost done with season one. Kevin did get on my nerves at times, I'm not drawn to immature, impulsive guys, but he's growing on me as the writers let us see him more multi-faceted and not so one dimensional. It broke my heart when he almost drowned and no one saw him and the moments of revelation from the parents was fleeting. As a teen, I didn't see what made him hate his brother so much. It also hurt to see Randall tell his dad he knew he was a "replacement" all his life, he wasn't the "twins", how the grandparents didn't like him, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing more of how Kate became who she is now, but it does seem like the writers have to concentrate more on one character a show. Maybe next season as I catch up this weekend, will show that more. One thing on I don't understand, Randall's adoption. They make it seem like they just took him home from the hospital, Rebecca said, "we didn't have that type of adoption", we had a firehouse adoption. She was scared of losing him to his dad at the time. That, even for the time, seems a bit odd and illegal. Is that brought out more later?

I agree, the "you have to date me" was a little creepy especially with so much of that going on today with men and women with boundary issues. You never saw the date end, which I think was better. The same way they never would really break up the Golden Girls until the end, I doubt Grace and Frankie have to worry yet. If someone does leave, they would be close by to visit often.

I do too..what's wrong with the producers? Stephen had Jane on alone twice (who can forget the kiss?) and it seemed much longer. No mention of SAG award, how much fans love Grace and Frankie and how it helped some older people feel validated. I think the world of Colbert, he's a great guy but I don't think he's watched G&F and it showed. This is old, 2015, but I'd love to listen to this when I have time, a Ted talk about the two of them and friendship. https://www.ted.com/talks/jane_fonda_and_lily_tomlin_a_hilarious_celebration_of_lifelong_female_friendship

It's very short, but if you want more of Jane and Lily, they were on Stephen Colbert's show yesterday, I watched it today. Both looked great, but not enough time.

I agree, there is a lot of children born from people that were bad that are perfectly fine, mental illness might be hereditary but many people are the way they are from their upbringing. To see Olivia act this way is alarming since she adopted him knowing all this and it makes it seem like she is using him to work out her own issues. I know it's just a show, but when Olivia works, she isn't 9-5, she works until 10 or 11 some days, makes mention of how late it is on some shows, who watches her kid? I have been watching more spotty now and don't know if it's a constant person. No reason a single parent can't work, but it seems as a cop that works late all the time, having a young child must be very difficult.

I really liked the last show, but I was in denial...I kept wanting Netflix to start the next one and then realized that was it. : ( I guess I just wanted one more. ; ) I loved the ending, kudos to the writers for making it subtle and moving. The friendship almost made me tear up because it's one many women (maybe even Jane and Lily) wish they could have. So how long under season 4? I found this, but at their ages, I wish Netflix would make an exception. Hope to see everyone back. https://www.bustle.com/p/will-grace-frankie-return-for-season-4-the-stars-want-more-episodes-right-away-45889

I thought it was disturbing she shot into the dark at a blurry figure..it could have been one of her kids too! Also the flippant remark (done in stress) that she would have went to prison if it was Frankie, wasn't really funny. Maybe I have heard about accidental shootings too often being a news hound at times, but someone thought it was funny, when it really isn't. A funny booby trap Frankie made that got someone tangled in, something odd, maybe, but hearing a noise, going down stairs and shooting without calling the cops, seemed an odd reaction.

Didn't Frankie have a computer cover like this? http://www.nrosen.com/stuff/

Yes, for some they are the "less rich" guest house. That is what they are zoned for, mother-in-law or guest house usually. It's when they want to live on it alone it's an issue. But sometimes, plumbing and other utilities can be an issue also depending where you live. I laughed as a mom of older teens when a college student lived on her parents property to be "independent". I don't think many people watching doubted she ate there, "shopped there" for groceries and used the bathroom when composting seemed less appealing. ;)

There is Tiny House Nation (on Saturdays) Tiny house hunting, Tiny house Big, and probably more on other cable networks. I think the biggest is tiny house nation right now. I feel it will ebb soon as more and more get bought and can't resell. Good for some, vets, homeless, older couples, but not the demographic they push too.
-
I've only seen the outside of tiny house...they show the inside soon? As one who has watched many tiny house shows, I think having one is hysterical, especially one that small. Will theirs be for sale sale as soon as the "real" ones seem to empty? ; ) I don't think the producers like to pick single women or men anymore. They all seem to have great danes or 3 dogs or cats and dogs. Forget the room, can you imagine the smell of having all the animals, food, litter boxes and bathroom within yards of each other. There aren't enough fans. lol

I know what you mean, I did that last time and it seemed endless before they came back. It will still be a long time but I want to stretch it out a bit and use it as a treat when I need to unwind.

I know she sells wigs, but her stylist wont tell. ; ) Here she says how she uses a razor cut . http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/fash-track/jane-fondas-glam-team-spills-424912 I've seen women her age with good hair at 70, not many but there are some with a good stylist. Wigs help when you just don't want to bother but a full wig never really hugs the face the same way.

Do you think they want to write him off and that's why the decision came so early to move to Sante Fe? I remember when I watched Golden Girls years ago, you knew any guy relationship, even close to marriage wasn't going to last because the dynamic would end with the ladies. Of course, when they decided to end the show, they married Dorothy off. I wonder with Grace and Frankie, if they will leave them together or have them both have someone (not as realistic) maybe Jacob gets back in touch and Frankie gets her balloons and Phil's wife dies and Grace reads about it....kind of contrived so I hope not.

I'm glad they showed Robert's mother as someone who represents many people out there. Sure, many mothers love their gay children but many still do not. If she came around, it might have looked contrived at her age. I thought the light comedy about picking out a dress was funny and the woman who helped them. Martin did a great job showing an array of emotions. I might have missed Mallory's background but wasn't she a happy mom before? The twin babies are young, young enough for her to have postpartum depression also. I realize it's just a show with writers looking for angles, but showing a woman with 4 children giving up after some therapy and not considering she is just overwhelmed or depressed, isn't logical. Her husband's habits weren't there before? I'm sure the twins didn't turn him into a dufus overnight. I guess the "I'm doomed" angle isn't working for me, but others might like it. The gun episode was food for thought. I'm afraid of them but also wish at times I had one. My husband needs one for his job but he tells me a lot of stories of shootings that went wrong, guns used on the home owner, stolen guns used for crimes. It's not something to decide lightly. Frankie always goes over the top, that is Frankie, but I wondered why Grace shot at someone without seeing well. I thought it was odd she went downstairs also. I would have called the cops and waited upstairs hiding.

I think it was implied maybe because of age they were widowed or there is a stereotype that a man in that age group wouldn't welcome something like that.

I know her story line was underdeveloped and she isn't too likable but as a mom of 3, I don't like the "I can't handle this" stuff, the drinking, setting her sister up with guys she drools over, talking about her kid pooping and having to go home while whining about husband. This might be realistic, the "dumb husband" for some, but there is no realistic talk about working it out and drinking until you're sloshed and then going home, just rubs me the wrong way. I know it's just for entertainment but just like I didn't like Grace drinking and driving and taking pills with liquor last season, I'll compartmentalize it and enjoy the rest. I did love the art show and how it ended, with the woman who like myself can " just look" most of the time, got a nice painting and Frankie got a sale. ; ) This is the real artist : http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/grace-and-frankie-season-3-lily-tomlin-paintings-1202014977/

I recognized the woman leader from the focus group as an actress from The Middle. She is great there too as a neighbor and I hope they show her again. (Jen Ray) I thought it was a funny show. Sometimes it's too much just "Grace and Frankie" and it's good to have other strong people to play off of.

I liked all 3 and the lack of dryer wouldn't bother me. Did they not have an option for a small electric one? I did that in the states once although it made my electric bill higher so I just used it sparingly in the winter. I know it might vary by country, rental, but are most of these apartments just rent or do they include utilities? They never say "includes heat" but that's not what most people are interested in. I had a coworker move back to Netherlands and saw this article explaining rentals. Really pays to do your homework beforehand. http://www.dutchnews.nl/features/2014/07/10_things_you_didnt_know_about/ -

I do too. Can't forget most of it is made up and I feel sometimes they feed into stereotypes and make them seem a certain way to get the most out of it. You can tell when they repeat the same things over and over and they never edit it. I think they went a little overboard with this one and made the mom seem more silly than funny/concerned. There wasn't a partner to do it with, so a Mom was convenient. I heard from another participant on youtube interview, (UK episode) they aren't paid that much and you really have to want to do it to be on TV, it's not always fun. The retakes, moving stuff in and out of your place (even if they do it) staying on script. This young woman had to seem like she wanted something really bad (forgot what it was) but was happy without it. She said she was paid 1200 and I read an Italian couple was paid that. HH in the states, I hear about food, etc. but no one has mentioned pay. I did read an article slamming the local shows for making people go over budget for things that don't really matter, making it seem like granite counter tops are more important than good schools or having more money in your bank account, but I think it's an escape show and if someone goes into debt trying to emulate what they see on TV, they aren't very bright. No one should be house poor, most people realize the hidden costs of buying, inspections, fees, etc. If they don't, they soon. will : ) -

I honestly didn't think it was as easy as they make it. Sure if your company moves you, but you can't just up and move to some places. I know my daughter is in the UK for school and it would be hard in her field (teaching/English) to find a job and keep her visa. They want certain jobs that are hard to find in their area or expert in their field. It seems like some participants say, "they can write anywhere" but I know it's not that easy. I thought you had to be sponsored or in school or living with a relative, etc Anyone with more information on how so many just leave when it's not a business transfer? Maybe they just gloss over that part?
