  1. The opinions on message boards surely are a fraction of actual opinion. I'd venture to guess that the number of fans willing and able to attend fan events is even smaller. After all, anyone with an internet connection can post here or any other message board. A fan event requires proximity, money, time, and well, a slightly higher level of fanaticism. But in any case, I really don't care about the prevailing opinions on message boards, facebook, twitter, etc., or even how nice an actor may be outside the studio (I read somewhere that SC is very nice to fans IRL). What I care about is what I see on my screen, and I don't want to watch shitty actors like Kate Mansi. And I especially don't want to watch shitty characters played by shitty actors like Kate Mansi get propped at the expense of interesting characters portrayed by superior actors.
  2. Yay! I'm so happy non-gimmicky TAR is back. Unfortunately I missed a good deal of the episode because of a cold-induced fugue, so I need to go back and do a rewatch. Based on the bios and the few bits I caught last night, Ernest and Jin are my favorites. I don't even remember seeing Kelsey and Joey but they came off as likable in their q&A on the CBS site. I agree about whiny Justin and his stupid hat. I hate it almost as much as Ian's asshat (though at least Ian grew on me). Not too broken up over the TMZ women getting cut, but wish it had been the cheerleaders instead. Rio de Janeiro is so beautiful, but at the same time so heartbreaking. Those shanties clinging to the side of the mountain ... Mine, too! Wil going at that ice block with a torch, pick, and chainsaw will never not be one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. I'll also never forget when one of the grandmothers got up to the top of the stairs and put her arms out, just like the Redeemer statue. Good times! This makes me so nostalgic for the first few seasons. GSN used to show them years ago and we'd watch them over and over again, even season 6 with HWSNBN and KKKendra!
  3. In addition to gaslighting him, Abigail cultivated a friendship with Carrie while trying to force Austin into a relationship with her. (This is exactly what she did to Sami and EJ, except with them she also insinuated herself into the lives of Sami and EJ's children, all while trying to get back onto EJ.) She also stalked Austin and Carrie when they went away on a ski trip. She roped Melanie into going, but of course left out that she was stalking a married man. The look on Melanie's face when she realized what was going on was priceless. It really is. I'm also hoping she'll get killed off. It would get rid of her and give Missy Reeves and Casey Moss a nice, meaty story.
  4. Yes, this. It's mind boggling that TIIC at Days haven't equated the ridiculously low ratings over the past three years with the most propped actors getting one front burner story after another. It doesn't take a brain scientist (tm Casey from Top Chef) to do so. So what else is going on? It doesn't strike me as the same thing that's going on at ABC with General Hospital, which is just a severe case of executives saying they don't give a fuck, but not much else besides producer's or writer's pet explains the ascendance of some of these characters. I'm disappointed that the ratings for Days are still so low. It's much better than it was just a short month ago. Hopefully there's something big planned to try to get some eyeballs back on this show. I'd be so sad if Days were cancelled. Woot!
  5. I liked the headline, "Abe Carver Appointed Mayor, Again." Hopefully Aiden will come completely clean with Hope. I don't want her to feel like a fool. He really does seem to love her, and if its played otherwise it will be so disappointing. Bo needs to escape or be rescued soon. The torture scenes are so uncomfortable to watch. Eduardo has some nerve. He skips out on his kid but now wants to horn in on her funeral arrangements? Eve should have kicked him right in the junk. And then kneed him in the face. I'm looking forward to Andre taking over as head Dimera. Thaao Penghlis is so good at nuance. As believable as he is as an evil menace, he can turn on a dime and play a caring son/brother/whatever.
  6. Peanut6711, you shouldn't have to justify your opinions. If you feel like Abigail is a wannabe mob mistress, name call away! That's not true. All of the posters here who dislike Abigail (or despise her, or are apathetic to her) have expressed over and over again exactly what their problems are with the character and the actor. If some have taken to "name calling" as short-hand for that, so be it. It's not right to denigrate their opinions because you disagree with them or are tired of them.
  7. Nope. As long as the story is interesting and the killer's motives (or perhaps killers' motives, if there's more than one) make sense, then I don't care who it is.
  8. It was flower petals from the Dimera garden, sas616.
  9. Oh Candice. Do shut up. Holy shit is she a tedious know it all. I feel bad for Lindsey. She was Nina's goat and she knew it. It must have been difficult for her to stand there and listen to the tongue baths that some of the other designers inexplicably received (Blake, Candice/Ashley with their clown get up) while they told her she was boring and plain If the judges had given her just a little bit of encouragement it could have given her the confidence boost she needed to do something more. Instead she got more and more lost, knowing they wouldn't like anything. No way do I think that what she did is the most she is capable of doing. I still don't understand what Merline meant about "seeing" Kelly with respect to the gloves. That guest judge was very scary looking.
  10. That's an excellent interpretation, and one that would allow twists and turns in the story.
  11. There were a couple of red ties. And a black mask/hoodie thing, I think.
  12. Yes, that is exactly what it was. You'd think the showrunners would also be able to see with their own eyes that KM can't act worth a damn. She says all her lines in the same flat monotone voice, she can't cry, she oozes smug when it's not called for and makes other bizarre choices, and basically just drains the joy and interest out of any scene she's in. But yet, she's on three to four times a week. And with the amount of time she's been on the last two weeks, she has to have surpassed Shawn Christian and Ari Zucker in YTD episode counts. I keep hoping that someone in charge will finally get a clue, hire another 20s something woman or two, and send KM packing. Anyway, I also thought Chad was in bed with Abigail when Paige was murdered. But maybe he was able to sneak away - or more likely he told Abigail he was going to go get her a treat, since she's very easily distracted when you make it all about her - to strangle Paige. His apartment isn't very far from campus. Gross. I still believe that James Scott could have been swayed into staying had he not been paired with her.
  13. There has got to be some twists coming, especially given the creepy shot of Dr. Tan in Marlena's room. Speaking of, Dee was just great with her fear and relief. Clyde being out of breath was also interesting, and the ensuing scene with him and Jennifer was well done by both JR and MR. I was thinking that Clyde knows Ben is the killer and has been covering for him, but he seemed pretty taken about when Ben very coldly said he'd kill Chad if Chad followed them out of town. So who knows? Jennifer is a terrible mother. She sees that her idiot daughter is miserable but she's going to go along with her leaving town to appease a jealous boyfriend? All while agreeing to keep the secret of Clyde being a drug dealer to protect her idiot son's sting operation? Everyone in this family is too stupid for words. IKR? I couldn't believe he didn't put a rock or brick in the bag so it would sink, but then I remembered that this is the guy who wants Abigail. Moron is his middle name. Not that his princess is any smarter. What does she think Chad is supposed to do in the secret room on the dock all by himself, without food and water? So dumb. And KM was, as usual, the weak link. She brings everything and everyone down.
  14. Another Hoosier! I was born in IN but haven't lived there in many years. The fall color along the river is my most vivid memory from there ... The bit where Rafe asked Eve how old Paige was when Eddie left was interesting and had to be significant. Gabi is only a few years older than Paige, so what was Eddie doing in between families, and what's he been doing in the nine years or so since he left Eve and Paige? Maybe Rafe is going to investigate, with the hope he's not going to find another family or two out there. That could actually be an interesting story, and one that I don't recall a soap opera ever doing. Eve is Shane's daughter and Kim's step-daughter. Theresa (Jen Lilley) is Shane and Kim's daughter. LOL! The combination of him trying to cover his accent and the speed at which he talks make him difficult to understand. I totally agree about KM. She really does counteract the talent from her screen partners.
  15. Maybe RSW will give a great performance. Oh, alright. Maybe he'll give an adequate performance. He has some decent facial expressions; it's only when he talks that it all falls apart (for me, anyway, since most of the time I can't understand what he's saying). As long as the story plays out in an entertaining way, and Clyde gets killed in the process, I'll be happy. Also, I tried to find the Galen Gering interview yesterday to see exactly what he said about the killer, but couldn't find it.
  16. John Paul Lavoisier, who is coming on as Philip Kiriakis at some point. He played Rex Balsam on OLTL for a number of years.
  17. A fellow hoosier! Have a great trip, boes.
  18. Stupid NBC!!!! Yesterday they cut off the show with five minutes left, and today with nine minutes left. And just when the figure was about to go after Marlena! Anyway, today was another pretty good day! KdP and GG were really, really good. Someone finally made the effort to connect Eve to other people in Salem in an organic, believable way and then Days goes and lets KdP go. So stupid and disappointing. KdP and GG have great friend chemistry, and it would have been nice to see Eve take on a motherly role with Gabi. Eve would've had another connection to Kate as well. I also enjoyed Kate and Nicole, and while I love Nicole she was way out of line recounting Kate's sins and misdeeds. She's certainly no saint! At least Chad remembers that he has an alibi of sorts. Now he just needs to find the hobo on the docks. As much as Abigail deserves a smackdown, I can't get much enjoyment out of it. KM is so horrible that none of Abby's reactions seem genuine. And when her terrible acting doesn't take me out of a scene, her face does. From the side it looks extremely long and thin, but from the front its wide and plump. WTF?
  19. I loved everything about today, including Steve's harmonica. The Kayla/Steve flashbacks were so much fun, and having them both in a melancholy mood was well played. Kayla's flashback to a shirtless Steve and her trying to shake off the erotic memory was such a real moment. SN is still a very handsome man but back then? Damn! Kate and Eve were pure gold. Every word, every expression was heartfelt and believable. These two professionals should have been put together a long time ago, but instead the idiot writers wasted KdP on the Devereaux dunces. KdP and AM were also great again today. Her disbelief that Eddie had an entire family that he never even told her about has got to be another stab in the back. And does Eve even know about Arianna and her death?
  20. Poor Caroline. Peggy McCay was wonderful. KdP and A. Martinez were also great today. Too bad it's all for nothing since they showed her the door. Days will never have a classier team player. AM has aged well but I was hoping he'd changed his look from Longmire. All I see is his resemblance to the alien that was Picard's doppleganger in the ST:TNG episode "Allegiance." Yes, I took a mean pill today.
  21. boes, in case no one's told you today, you're awesome! :-)
  22. I have no idea what hatred you're talking about, since I only read this board and couldn't care less about twitter, facebook, soap columnists or other message boards. But it is insulting to women and gay men to apply the word misogyny in this way, not to mention fallacious. Also, posters here have gone into great detail explaining why they don't like this incarnation of Will and about Guy Wilson's acting abilities (or lack thereof, depending on one's position). GW may be a perfectly lovely person, but he was miscast as Will. Another actor may have been able to pull off his character cheating on his husband twice, screwing over his mother and grandmother, taking no responsibility for his actions, and generally being a selfish jerk, but this one could not. All the hyperbole in the world isn't going to change that.
  23. Ha! Ha! I'd believe it. Her character is just repulsive. Don't count on Gabi not doing stupid stuff, boes. I enjoy her very much, in large part because Camila is a natural and seems like such a lovely person IRL, but she's not exactly smart. Maybe being in prison has taught her to be more deliberate and cunning, like Kate. Speaking of, those two better be sharing scenes again soon. Maybe there'll be room at Basic Black for her with Kate, Nicole, and Teresa. Those four would make a great quad, and there'd be no need to spoil Gabi's scenes with the presence of her "friend" Abigail.
  24. It wasn't that she didn't tell Ben that the nightmare was about Chad; it was that she said it was about Ben. Specifically, that she was having a nightmare about Ben abandoning her and the baby. If she was going to lie anyway, she could have just as easily said it was about the person going around murdering women with neckties, or a patient at work, or JJ doing drugs, or even the all purpose "I don't remember." But she chose to use a lie that would make Ben hang on to her even tighter than he already does. Stringing people along is almost as second nature to her as going after unavailable men.
  25. Poor Jake. I feel so bad for him and his beautiful dog. He made the only right decision in this case and I'm glad he got so much support for leaving to be with his buddy. I can think of a few past seasons where the contestants would not have been so kind and understanding. Like some other posters, the low drama vibe this season has been refreshing. I also feel bad for Lindsey. Realizing that your work is unappreciated and not likely to ever please your audience is a very shitty feeling. She basically said that the judges didn't like any of her work so far, and probably wouldn't ever like anything she did. She was pretty dejected. People already answered, but I wanted to say sorry about your kitty. :-( Your poor kitty. I'm so sorry. My fur babies will get an extra hug today in honor of your Larry.
