  1. A lake, a county, a city, an island, multiple streets, has a statue in downtown TO, schools, a University Hall, a Civic Holiday in his honour (first weekend in August). He was instrumental in estabishing in Canada "the courts of law, trial by jury, English common law, freehold land tenure, and the abolition of slavery." So I doubt the show will kill him off.. you never know though. :') The only one I want Simcoe to "tear up" is Richard Sr. That person betrayed his townspeople and family over and over again. Again, great actor, hate the character.
  2. Honestly, knowing how inaccurate those flintlock pistols could be (assuming barrel was smoothbore), I actually expected one of the rowers to have been shot and not surprised he missed. It was a great scene though.
  3. When the pirate (the bloody one who could speak English, caught by Green and Burk, when the guy said something, what he said made me think that there is something higher than Peng, and Peng is answering to this person. Now with the blood draining, I first think that they are going to transfuse the blood to others, in the idea that since the virus vaccine is in the Nathan James' crew's blood, by transfusing hat blood to others, they would then get the cure. So there must be a "pirate" leader somewhere we wil meet, I think. Yeah, but when that scene happened, my bitter self was happy Michener stood his ground. Sorry, but I just rolled my eyes for those two complaining that some rich person couldn't get their 6 boxes of cereal, when poorer people can't afford to buy any extra food and are limited to rations. Suck it up.
  4. Yup, you can go ahead and link to those interviews, if you like. Actually, I found it. Here it is. Very interesting. In fact, if you click on Alexander Rose's handle [TurnWriter], you can see a nice list of what he's written/answered/commented about the show. Some good stuff. Yup. Shall do. The original episode title where I get my episode synopses had "Father", not "Feather". ______________________________ Good episode actually. It helped that I read about Arnold and Andre last week. I wonder if the show writers read the same Wikipedia pages I did to write this episode. Still, it was really good. Arnold and Andre meeting, Andre being caught, Hewett going to Andre (and his FU attitude), and everything Tallmadge. I wasn't a fan of Robert Rogers being there at Andre's capture and didn't like the whole "Give me Peggy" negotiation. And damn you, Abe. Just stop. Really. He just can't "spy" well. But glad he clocked Simcoe - someone needs to beat the crap out of Simcoe. I wish Abe would consider clocking his father at some point too. Simcoe unfortunately has become a violent cartoon of a character and just plain stupid. Why NOT consider Rogers left Setauket? His 'burn the town" attitude is just not normal and counterproductive. Mary was the only one to have it right. Overall though, really enjoyed it and looking forward to next week!
  5. Ugh. That explains it. There was only one listing for the show, and wasn't watching live, so didn't record the next show aired. Damn you, Rogers!! Thanks for letting me know, Artsda. I'm going to assume then that airing is "back to normal"

    The NBA

I feel the same here. Congrats to the Cavaliers - at time they seemed to play better basketball, and when GSW were playing top notch, the Cavaliers still played amazing. And I will say, reading about those "winning" droughts for the city (since the 1964 Browns), it is kinda nice that they finally won something again. Sad about GSW, but hey, they won last year, so I don't feel too bad. Share the wealth! Got totally choked up over LeBron James and Coach Tyronn Lue just bawling their eyes out after winning. Love that he's such a newbie relatively and retired as a player in 2009!! Love that the entire team was just SOOOOOO thrilled/excited, just completely blown away. LeBron as MVP - duh. :') Apparently one is supposed to root for the team that beat your own team, to win, because then it's basically the 'best team' beat your own. And I agree, love that the Raptors provided a difficult "bump" for CC to have to fight through. And you never know - Dwane Casey has made a major impact to the team, and he's back. Depending on who resigns, it could be a very good next year. Congrats Cleveland Cavaliers!!
  7. Mine right now says Sunday 9:00 pm EST for the first one. And I read another comment elsewhere that said that both episodes already aired in Canada. Well, I taped them, it said The Last Ship, but it wasn't The Last Ship.
  8. I was reading up on Benedict Arnold and John Andre today (and Peggy Shippen) - on Wikipedia. Pretty interesting stuff, actually. Arnold is a pretty interesting character and the accomplishments in his life, even before he joined the military. Benedict Arnold - Wikipedia John Andre - Wikipedia I think I mentioned it before, but I didn't realize how far north into the future Canada the various skirmishes/attacks went. Who knew? Also, if I understand correctly,
  9. The Last Ship Premiere Rescheduled for Sunday, June 19th. Note spoilers in the link. In terms of scheduling, TLS airs on Space (Canadian feed). Checking the schedule, only The Scott Effect is being aired on Sunday, not the second episode, but it might be different for others. If you are going to get the second episode also, please let me know!! I suspect that late episodes will be paired up for the season to catch up.
  10. Hey Everyone, Due to the tragedy in Orlando, TNT had decided not to air the first two episodes of the season in respect and due to some violent content in the episodes. However, some television stations may have broadcast the episodes anyway, andsome of you have already seen then. Some have also maybe only seen The Scott Effect due to an 'accidently' TNT airing a couple days ago. So to allow those who saw the episode to discuss it, while keeping the episode "pure" and spoiler-free, I've created this thread as a temporary discussion location. /// ------> BEWARE - SPOILERS BE HERE. EPISODE DISCUSSION IS HERE. <------- \\\ If you accidently popped in, then hit the Back Button NOW!! FTR, the "Unaired USA" red tag basically means that not all TV markets have had the episodes broadcast at the same date/time for them all to watch. Since we don't know 100% if TNT will air the two episodes this Sunday or pospone until later, I will lock the other episode thread for now, and open it when it airs. Once that happens, the discussion posts here will be moved over there. Thank you.
  11. The Last Ship Premiere Posponed due to Orlando Shooting. Note, episode spoilers in the article. It may be aired this upcoming Sunday June 19th.
  12. So sad but understandable...and respectable.
  13. Love that. And this quote, which is so true... I just rewatched the finale again. Such a fun show. I rarely buy DVDs but I might consider it for this show.
  14. PBS will air the Series Finale on Saturday June 19, 2016.
  15. Yeah, but some people are so spoiler-adverse that even the hint of what 'could' happen on the show, based on real-life, makes people have a sneezing fit. It's good that we are being more careful, spoiler-tagging just in case. But I've actually struggled with it, simply because what you said above, it's fact. The show just twists the hell out of history. I'm fine with not spoiler-tagging it though - unless someone really is a stickler. Fact is, the show has deviated so much some actual history and the A. Rose book it's based on, it would be hard to "spoil' someone at this point - because I've read the book and the show is very different. The show is no where near what the book is based on, and obviously real-life history. One could call it an "intrepretation" at this point. Is Simcoe really well known in the US, though? For me, yes, since I grew up near Simcoe, Ontario and live near Toronto now, so yes. But I've never studied American history - just read for interest. I've obviously heard of Benedict Arnold, knew what he "did', but had never heard of Peggy Shippen until this show, neither Nathaniel Sackett. So I wonder how many Americans had heard of Simcoe?
  16. That's won't even happen. Without Simcoe, my You have to admit, Samuel Roukin is having a blast with this role. Mary taking charge and basically trying to kill Simcoe as the best - she should have been heading this spy ring, since she's seems to be the only one who can act for the greater good. Hell, if she led a regiment, the British would have lost sooner. Thought this was a really good episode. Was happy when Arnold was vindicated actually, as he should have been. Andre and his obsession with Peggy is kinda sad actually. Creepy too. Poor Sarah didn't deserve that at all. Hoping that she would be fine. Ben trying to help her no matter what was awesome. But it also showed how each side had it's brutality. Some were good people, others not even close. But Ben beating the crap out of the guy was perfect. Shallow Comment of the Episode: Seth Numrich/Ben Tallmadge. That is all. I thought the exact same thing when I saw this. In fact, I was thinking this back a few episodes back.
