  1. I hesitate to type this, but as much as overall I liked Kate, I also kinda didn't like her at times. She said things that would.not.fly later on in the show, like when Gibbs asked how something could have happened she'd just breezily say, "It could have been this or that, no way to tell." In later years, Gibbs would have stared an agent down and ordered her to find a way to tell. She was just so...inexact. She took the easy way out on things at times and was usually wrong; that's okay, that's how they learn, but she didn't seem to learn and didn't get schooled the way McGee certainly did. I was watching an episode on a sub (seems like there were quite a few of them that first year or two), and she was shocked she'd have to sleep in the same room as Gibbs and Tony. Did she think she'd get her own room and ensuite on a sub? Now, I did have some sympathy for her on the episode where they are were on a military plane and she realized there was no bathroom and no privacy. I would not have been pleased at that realization, either.
  2. I wonder how or why she lost custody of the kids...I feel there's a lot to the story of how things are between her and her husband that we don't know. Not that they owe us all the gory details, but it might have helped the whole situation make more sense. Regardless of whether Mike lied, he was kinder and more supportive than her husband, and she didn't seem to care. I came away thinking the idea that he was rich was what attracted her.
  3. I saw that my dvr was recording episodes and thought they were old ones, then realized they were new (had no idea the show was going again). I watched Angel and Jordan, and I had nothing to say. Everything in the episode has been done before, and really it was a glimpse of the sad, mean-spirited reality of Catfish. Insecure girl nurses a grudge against vain, clueless, self-centered girl who two-times a guy who's done nothing wrong, everyone gets hurt, they seem to grow up a little but do they really? They all need to go their separate ways and stay off reality TV. I kept thinking about the catfish ruminating on the guys who got away (yay them) when apparently two stuck around long enough for her to have two kids (assuming different fathers...yeah). With a five-month-old baby, didn't she have better things to think about? Who stays best friends with someone for years, every day looking at them and plotting revenge, instead of just ditching the friendship? Like I said, it's all just sad and mean-spirited, and there's not much point in the show going on.
  4. I just watched an episode with a father and daughter looking at homes in Cabo San Lucas in Beach Front Bargains. That girl was sure savvy for an 18-year-old! She was more knowledgeable about real estate than 90% of the people I see on this show!
  5. Yes, it's interesting how it plays out. On our street, we have original owners who paid less than $100,000 for their house about 40 years ago; we paid a little more than twice that about 20 years ago, and we have neighbors who bought within the last few years who have paid in the mid $600,000. Our property taxes vary widely. I had relatives who were saved by Prop 13, so I think it's a good thing, but I do feel for families buying homes today.
  6. When I watch this show, I suspend disbelief and try to not to think about the show being fake and the participants being actors. The premise is interesting -- if people unhappy with their current home could have it fixed or get a new home fulfilling their wishes, which would they choose -- and I feel in most cases they would stay because they are spared the work of moving. This is why I think David (representing the real estate agent) is at a disadvantage.
  7. I was thoroughly annoyed by her complete trashing of the kitchen -- it was certainly serviceable until they had time to update it. I thought the gray paint on the walls they chose was pretty boring. I missed the first house, but I knew they wouldn't chose Napa because no one in their right mind would -- it's not a nice commute, and they were moving to be closer to his job in Windsor. That said, the largest city in the area is Santa Rosa, which is right next to Windsor, and yet they saw no houses there. Unbelievable. Property taxes here are .75% of the purchase price. I think they paid $615,000, so that's $4,612.50 a year, or $384 a month.
  8. I've been watching episodes from the Kate days, too, and it's more striking than I recalled -- her voice is much deeper and her manner is much more cool. She is more flirtatious with McGee and Tony, and there's no wide-eyed girly bounce to her. I think I like her best somewhere in between.
  9. That is beside the point. Even if the show were 100% legit, people would still rather stay put then move, so David has a big handicap. Having been a real estate agent, I feel for him when they choose to love it instead of list it.
  10. I like David and I like Hilary and I like the premise of the show. That said, I always root for David because he's the underdog -- I mean, if Hilary does a half way decent job on the remodel, of course people are going to choose not to move. Who wants to move? Packing sucks. It's so unfair that David has such a disadvantage in getting people to list. I get pissed off every time and swear I won't watch anymore when they stay put.
  11. I knew Jack couldn't be wrong because the show wouldn't go there, but it sure seemed more realistic that she would be wrong. I had a hard time buying it. I realize she's not a field agent, but physically attacking the guy seemed like the worst strategic move she could make. Has she learned nothing from criminal investigation, and does she trust no one's professional judgment (thinking Gibbs here, not Vance) in going after the guy in a more concerted way? I frowned and shook my head over how they treated the PTSD patient -- no doctor should have allowed them unsupervised access -- and I sighed and rolled my eyes at Vance getting kidnapped. I don't dislike Vance, but I'm not up for worrying about him getting tortured. I always thought that Gibbs had never confirmed to anyone that he intentionally shot the man who killed his family. He seemed to acknowledge it more to some people than others, but I don't recall him telling anyone outright what he'd done (except the ex-MIL). It did strike me that perhaps one of the reasons that Jack hasn't dated was because it would be a bit awkward to get, uh, cozy with someone and have him see the scars with no warning. Yet not something to chat about over dinner and drinks. But Gibbs will understand. Because I think it's headed that way.
  12. Maddie's new song is already on Spotify, along with seven other songs from an album called "Songs from the Basement." Glad I don't have to wait long to hear her sing!
  13. Yes, yes, yes! I was talking about the show with my cousin yesterday who is watching on Netflix and is on the third season, and she was complaining about Tony and how sexist and inappropriate he is and how unacceptable it all is. I tried to tell her that the whole point of Tony's "playboy facade" is that he's kind of goofy and sweet underneath, but she wasn't buying it. I think you hit the nail on the head about their relationship.
  14. I like Kasie. I liked that she referenced Abby, and I liked that she reminded them all of why they became agents in the first place -- to make a difference. It was refreshing. I knew the wife was involved as soon as Gibbs found the husband and he didn't seem all that concerned about her thinking he was dead -- that, and the fact that she was younger and pretty and he was older and clueless about her feelings. Then when I saw the young guys who were the developers, I was positive. I still think Jack is too heavy handed in trying to get people to talk and "process" their feelings with her. She's too pushy about it. It always seems weird to me to see her with Vance and recall that they are supposedly longtime friends; I don't feel any connection between them. All in all, though, I enjoyed this episode more than I have any in quite awhile.
  15. My husband thinks Michael would be great as a voice for an animated character for Pixar or something like that. He would bring the energy and quirk to the task and could be quite memorable. I hope he has finds more success than that, but still, not a bad gig.
  16. He may be a multimillionaire, but he's also human, and circumstances could have forced him to bring the dog for a day. And yes, this is CBS, and if it allowed him to bring the dog after the incident, their legal team must have felt reasonably confident that they were *not* setting the stage for a multimillion dollar lawsuit. As mentioned, it's a crazy story and there is probably (undoubtedly) more to it. I'm mostly bummed because I generally like the actors and their characters, and this is harshing my enjoyment of the show.
  17. I believe there was an episode where Gibbs was flirting with death (only one?) and he was imagining the team in his basement talking to him. McGee and Abby were a couple and had a baby, as I recall, although none of it was real. I kind of liked them together. The other woman in the poker game was the shrink friend of the surgeon played by John Cryer, who saved Gibbs' life (another time), and he's the one who introduced her to Gibbs. As mentioned many times, the lack of any scenes together between Abby and Gibbs took away from my enjoyment of the story. Even though I have always liked Abby, I can't say I was sad to see her go because I really wasn't feeling much at all. Except maybe glad that she was going for a good reason -- to do good in the world.
  18. As soon as Catie started her first song, my husband said, "She doesn't want to be here anymore. She's done." I wanted to disagree with him, but...she did seem off and rather defeated right from the start. Her idiosyncrasies seemed more pronounced, perhaps due to anxiety because she knew it wasn't her night. I think she really was shocked about the tour because she was thinking it was all over for her and was then realizing (for better or worse) that it was not all over. I also thought that Prince wouldn't have given permission to use his songs and now that his family has control and gets the money, it was a green light. I'm team Maddie and don't even care if she doesn't win, because in the long run that might be better for her career, which I will follow.
  19. Hmmm. She says she "gave it all she had emotionally," so I guess she wakes up at least and doesn't just die in the hospital bed with everyone looking on while we watch flashbacks.
  20. OMG, BogoGog24, I agree with every single word of your post!
  21. Penny tells Sheldon she missed hearing him his talk about his work, calling it jibber jabber, and he starts to explain the etymology of the word and she says, "I can't believe you're gonna jibber jabber about jibber jabber."
  22. This conversation has made me think about how I view AI. I tend to have my favorite, and I tend to root for the person who I think will win, and often they are not the same person. When I watch/listen to them perform, I ask myself if I can imagine hearing them on the radio (and granted, I don't listen to stations that play really current, edgy stuff). Often the ones I personally like do not seem like people I would hear on the radio, but they are people whose music I would buy. Still, I like to back a winner, so I tend to support the person who I think is the whole package and who can win the show. To be honest, I rarely vote. I think the only time I ever picked up my phone and voted was for Adam Lambert, who was my favorite and who I thought had the best chance to win. I have never purchased any of his music, though, although I do turn up the volume if I hear him on the radio.
  23. I seem to recall on an episode or two back (but I can't remember because I cared so little) that they showed Torres being jealous first, and Bishop was totally clueless. I actually wondered if he showed up with Annie just to make Bishop jealous, which would only make me dislike him more.
  24. And yet, it was so insulting when Torres was with Vance and Gibbs and just dismissed Annie's value as a witness because she's blind. It seemed set up as a heavy handed learning moment for Gibbs to push him to be thorough and get over his bias, and for him to eventually appreciate and be attracted to Annie. I don't like this weakness in the agents; it seems like we should be way past this by now.
  25. I'd settle for more smiles and more talking. Which also happened in the first 13 seasons, or at least the first three seasons.
