  1. The sesame dipping sauce looked good-----probably will be good for chicken or pork. I'll have to look for the sichuan bean paste at my local international markets.
  2. lol. I thought Leave It to Beaver, where Eddie thinks his girlfriend and Wally are sneaking around behind his back. Only to learn the girlfriend is knitting Eddie a sweater and is using Wally to make sure its fitting properly. Re: Dr. Turner's secret Would his military records be easily accessed by the adoption agency?
  3. The more I watch Robbie, the more I can't stand him. What the heck did Katie ever see in that jerk?
  4. Not a usual thing for JJ to do. I think JJ took Blondie's constant grinning/smirks as body language admissions of her scamming the system.
  5. MaryHedwig, I watched the Nun's Story, Black Narcissus, Heaven Knows Mr. Allison and Sea Wife for these reasons only: Peter Finch, David Farrar, Robert Mitchum, and Richard Burton in that order. :-) But let's get really creative about Turner's hesistancy with the form filling. In1950, he impregnated a 14 year old girl named Mo Porter. Ashamed that she's pregnant by the local GP, Mo has a one night stand with a guy named Stuart Mullins and claims he is the father of her baby. Mo subsequently moves out of Poplar and to Walford. She gives birth to a girl, whom she names Vivienne. Eventually she marries her best friend's brother, Jimmy Harris. Thus Patrick Turner is the grand father of the annoying Slater sisters in EastEnders.
  6. Rika's teriyaki sauce is a 1:1:1:1 (soy, mirin, sake, sugar) ratio http://www.nhk.or.jp/dwc/recipes/detail/41.html Saito's teriyaki sauce uses less sugar and slightly less soy sauce than mirin and sake http://www.nhk.or.jp/dwc/recipes/detail/66.html I wonder if Saito's is less sweet and more savory.
  7. Frankly, i'm waiting for the day when JJ's rhetoric question of " Are you a moron?!?" elicits the reply "I don't see what religion has to do with it!"

lol. you come home and find it completely furnitured in Bulgarian products.
  9. Sister Luke left due to her dissatisfaction with the Church and its role in the war. Similarly the real Sister Bernadette left the sisterhood over her dissatisfaction with the Church of England when they began the ordination of women priests. My contention is the tuberculosis plot CTM ripped off. In The Nun's Story, Sister Luke contracts TB. She suspects it's TB and tells Dr. Forunati. Dr. Fortunati confirms the diagnosis and treats her. There's even a scene where an uncomfortable Sister Luke has to disrobe enough so Dr. Fortunati can examine her. In CTM, Sister Bernadette contracts TB. She suspects she has TB. Dr. Turner confirms her diagnosis, complete with a scene where an uncomfortable Sister Bernadette has to disrobe enough so Dr. Turner can examine her. That is why I describe this rip off as shameless. The way CTM ripped off the TB story showed their lack of creativity when dealing with things Jennifer Worth did not write. They needed a "romantic" story between a Nun and a lay person. So they picked the TB story from The Nun's Story because it's more believable than all the Sisters of Nonnatus House going crazy a la The Black Narcissus or stranding Sister Bernadette and Dr. Turner on a tropical island a la Heaven Knows Mr. Allison or Sister Bernadette and Dr. Turner on a raft in the middle of the ocean a la Sea Wife. It's laziness to use the TB plot when there are other diseases that Sister Bernadette could have have, such as Gilbert's syndrome or Chiari malformation syndrome. With the current over the top plots that don't make too much sense, it wouldn't surprise me if the Turner's adopt a baby and strange things begin happening soon afterwards, like The Omen or they think they're adopting a baby but get a pre-teen red-headed girl orphan like Anne of Green Gables.
  10. Couldn't stand the defendant in the Soccer Dog Fight case. I thought JJ was going to smack her when she wouldn't answer if the Animal Control fine was paid. RE: TJ Catfish Revenge. I'm thinking "Dude....you're blocked from that girl's Facebook and you still hang around 5 minutes trying to contact her?" As soon as he saw he was blocked and couldn't get in touch with her, his first thought should have been "set up". Second thought should have been "run" I like how everyone has a crow bar, too. Deodorant, check. Brush teeth, check. Money, check. Crowbar, check.
  11. Ben Gazzara! Well, they can totally rip off Run for Your Life. Mystery Midwife comes to Poplar. Confides to Dr. T. that she (MM) has an unnamed terminal illness and only has 18 months to live. She does some good for the Sisters before she leaves. If CTM writers play it right, this could be a spin-off. ;-) Turners and the Babies I think it would have been very difficult if the biracial baby stayed with them: the baby's mother lives in the neighborhood and the abusive husband wanted to kill her. So for the baby's safety she had to go somewhere safe. I'm beginning to like Timothy less and less. He's getting a bit too much of a wiseacre for my tastes. It would be different if he's a funny wiseacre, but he comes across more like a mean wiseacre.
  12. Based on this last (figuratively and literally) installment, it looks like the Ladies would have become crime-solving consultants for Ben or for the military---if ITV hadn't cancelled them. Hopefully, the ITV petition will have some influence. Anyhow, I'm happy that Lucy was able to use her photographic memory in this one. And something tells me, if Susan were around she would have out-machined the Enigma machine and figured out the code while ironing her husband's shirts. I also like that Ms Maltese Gangster was also a code breaker (for the other side) during the War.
  13. Yes, they are. The one-bottle-of-life-saving-medication-that-she-had-to-go-to-Liverpool-herself-to-get is a bit too much. OTOH, if the episodes are getting a bit too soapy, then they'll probably be able to rip off Now, Voyager, as shamelessly as they ripped off The Nun's Story. Along the soapy goodness. lines, what is Dr. T. hiding from his family? His refusal to fill forms is a bit unsteadying-----the guy is a doctor, granted, paperwork in the '50s isn't as much as it is today, but he still had to fill out forms of some type. Is he really Dr. Turner? Or is he a fake doctor, using a fake name? .
  14. Do you have car insurance, Sarcastico? If you do, I absolutely, positively cannot co-sign for you. And you need to show me proof that you're a convicted felon, in order for me to register that car in my name.

Heard this on a re-run case. Agreeance: (noun) an agreement pronounciation: "agree-ance". Usage: "Me and her made an agreeance for the rent."
  16. Damn Patti! She reminded me of a Manson Family member. re: JJ Prime time I had to look it up, but CBS shows NCIS tuesday nights at 8. I wonder if NCIS has a ratings problem.
  17. I don't mind her overpronouncings consonants. She's not seal clapping and she's not obvious about reading the cue cards, so it's okay. It's a Saito swordfish next week. I mentioned it above, but Saito does a really, really, really good job of plating the food.
  18. I can't see his kids and friends thinking that he can cook because he hosts a cooking show! Okay, on occasion he slices onions or something and maybe he might bread something, but Rika does the cooking.
  19. Millie's hostage dress is very cute! If I could find a similar dress pattern, I will definitely knock it off. I also like her coat in the vomiting after finding Jasper scene.
  20. Sarah, TBC reminds me of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"---library, Scooby Gang, the sound level of their voices (almost inaudible at times, lol), and the incidental music is the same. So maybe it's missing Vamps and the Hell Mouth? lol
  21. Mom's staying with us for a while, so I watched this one with her. When the plaintiff said in the halterview every time she gets involved in these businesses she never makes money, my Mom yelled at the tv "moron!".
  22. Maybe "sake to me" or "fugu me" (Homer Simpson quote)?
  23. yikes! Can you give us some time to think one up?
  24. I think you (and I) prefer Alice because she seems warmer than Susan. Susan is like an ice-queen, unless she's about to die. But after the crisis, she's very cold, and emotionally detached, imo. And she seems a bit of a bitch too.
  25. suma, how long do you typically have problems viewing NHK?
